A Trip to Remember

I will never forget the summer of 2006. It was a breezy, warm day in June. My family and I stumbled upon a small campground located in Dorr, Michigan. The blackish brown decorative sign with yellow-gold writing read Hungry Horse Campground. I thought to myself “what, a strange name for a campground.” As we drove down the long winding midnight asphalt road, I could not imagine why a campground would have such an odd name.
As we approached the main office, my eyes lit up like a Christmas tree in December. I could not believe that such a beautiful place existed in such a tiny town. The office was a large walnut brown and resembled a log cabin. Surrounding the building were enormous rocks, fuchsia flowers, and small turquoise ponds with waterfalls. The calming sound of water flowing throughout the rocks and the smell of flowers made me feel as if I was in heaven.
As we set up the mildewed scented tent, I remember my son playing in the majestic grained ivory sand so amazed that it was not dark brown and clumpy like back in Indiana. I watched him play while enjoying the fresh scent of pine drifting through the air. The bird’s sweet melody and the silence surrounded me in glory. I knew that there was nothing better in the world than in that moment. I had my two boys, and we were building a memory we would never forget.
As our time progressed, we found that the campground had two pools, both underground and one shaped like a fish. A white picket fence surrounded the pool area and the smell of chlorine lingered in the air. The crystal sparkling water looked as clear as glass, creating a mirror to see my family’s reflection, the smile on their faces made my heart flutter.
Afterwards, we went back to the campsite, to appreciate two things a…...

Remember

...Lauren Hillstrom MW 2:30 12/17/12 Option A Final Paper: Remember “Remember” by Christina Rossetti is a sonnet written in iambic pentameter. Her poem follows the structure of an Italian sonnet, one divided into an octave and sestet. The author’s thought process is portrayed through the rhythmic divide of her poem. The octave rhyming ABBAABBA directly pleads a loved one to remember her when she is gone. Then the following sestet rhyming CDDECE creates a shift in atmosphere, where she realizes the mortality of memory and would rather her love one be happy than mourn in the misery of her death. The fourteen lines altogether portray themes of love, fear, and death. With dark and sad undertones, the words “you” and “I” are used frequently showing that the poem is a dialogue speaking directly to a loved one. Throughout the poem she uses anaphora, such as repeating ‘remember’ at the beginning of several sentences. In the first line “Remember me when I am gone away”, she is speaking to someone in a direct form asking to be remembered when she is no longer here. Thus, the idea of separation is introduced here. At this point, we cannot tell if she is embarking on a journey, leaving a relationship behind or what calls for this separation between her and the person she is speaking to. Following, in the second line, “Gone away into the silent land”, the word ‘gone’ is used as a euphemism for death by using silent land as a metaphor for heaven. This imagery of heaven reveals the......

My Trip

...My most memorable trip This is one of my memorable trip, that was the unforgettable and so especial for me to be remembered in my lifetime, because that was the my first time to have trip to a beautiful small island in my country Timor Leste, which is called Atauro island . There are two quite reasonable reasons which make me to remember this trip always until now. First of all, it is an island, so when I went there by ship therefore easy to take a look on what a beautiful landscape of the island on board from the ocean’s view. Because that was my first time to have a trip by ocean, so I could felt how happy I was to be on the board at that time, and it took 3 hours to get there, after disembarked I spent several hours on the beach to take picture with some of my friends before took a rest in what a simple cottage, because we still had some more interesting places to be visited, such as Manucoco mount, Macadade spring water and Berau beach. In addition, when I was still young, I had been told by my parents that Atauro was the place for the Indonesian military to exile those who were not in favor with their government when they invaded our country in 1975, so for me, that is a very historical island to be visited. For instance, in this trip i went visit a cemetery, which was used to bury the exiled people who dead because of starvation during the occupation time. Because of these two reasons that trip become the most memorable and unforgettable trip in my lifetime....

The Last Trip

...The Last Trip Keisha Brown ENC1101-12 Instructor Lemon August 9, 2012 Have you ever accomplished something that you did not think you could? My senior year of high school definitely proved this statement. My classmates and I climbed one of the highest mountains in the Shenandoah National Park, while facing numerous challenges. As I walked outside on my front porch, I thought it was rather cool to be going on a camping trip. I thought, “What the heck,” it was still going to be fun. As I arrived at school, I saw Curry, my teacher, and only a few more classmates. “Where is everyone,” I thought to myself. This was going to be the last camping trip high school. I kissed my grandmother goodbye and got my gear out of the car. “This is not going to be the typical camping trip that you are used to,” Curry explained. I wonder what he had in store for us Curry explained that we, as a group, had to plan the entire trip. That meant deciding what equipment to bring, what food to bring, and which mountain and hike we were going to take. We quickly figured this out and we were on our way. When we arrived at the park, I noticed that it was a bit cold. Being that I have camped in the past, I dressed appropriately. We started our journey onto the trail. “This isn’t going to be that bad,” I thought. As we were hiking, I looked at the trees that were turning into the colors of fall; red, orange, and yellow. Beautiful. As I was walking down the path, I could hear a familiar sound. It......

Remember the Titans

...Gloria Bicolli Remember the Titans HRD 363 Midterm Tuckman and Jensen 1977 Tuckman and Jensen model focuses on the development of internal relations among the team members. There are 5 stages, Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning. The movie Remember the Titans was very inspiring especially because it is based on a true story. This movie showed all of Tuckman’s 5 stages. Stages of Group Development The first stage is forming; this is when members get to know one another. This is one of the most important stages. In the movie, this occurs when all of the football players are in the gym ready to meet Coach Boone. All the different race groups were together. In this interaction, the athletes have come together for the first time, they are unsure of their roles on the team, and they are also unsure what to expect from each other and the coach. Coach Boone asks Petey whether or not he likes football. The coach is very directive he tells the team “This is no democracy”. (YouTube) After they went to Gettysburg College for Camp, the coach made them sit in the same positions they had on the way to camp. This was one of his ways to form the team. The team walks to camp together, this is the first time we see them grouped whites and blacks together as a team, which signifies they have finished the forming stage. The second stage is storming; this is where all the conflicts and disagreements happen although the majority of the movie conflict occurs......

Field Trip

...Field Trip REGLI/448 DeVry University Daniel Henke December 8, 2013 For my field trip I chose to visit a Catholic Church St Peter located in Waldorf, MD. I took my two children with me and while driving to the church I explained to them that this was a field trip for my assignment. The look on their faces was priceless. Of course my five year old did not understand what I was talking about but she just knew that this experience was going to be different. I was excited that you asked the class to go on this journey to see how others worshiped. A friend of mine called me country for not venturing out to other places to see what was out there. To me it was not necessary to do because my past relationships did not require me to step out of my denomination and my entire family is Baptist so why would I? Well I am happy I did and plan to in the near future attend a mosque service just out of pure curiosity. For this trip I wanted to experience it but they were located in DC and I did not want to travel that far. Driving up to the location was pretty much what I had expected, beautiful temple, spacious parking and a mix crowd of worshipers. As the girls I got dressed that morning, I wondered without sharing with them, how the people would dress. Do they wear jeans or pants, or should I wear a long skirt or dress? Needless to say as I parked my car I noticed that other people were dress like me, jeans and a nice top or blouse. Last Sunday was a beautiful......

Remember the Titans

...Remember the Titans Jessica Valentine SOC 318 Sociology of Sport Dr. Marnie Carroll May 18, 2015 Remember the Titans Our general public has truly and still right up 'til today managed a large number of issues that significantly separates societies, organizations, associations and all the more essentially individuals. Sports can in a flash be put in this classification when matters identified with isolation, race and ethnicity are interrelated. I have chosen the film "Remember the Titans" to examine the effects of the previously stated as they relate to sports all through this paper. In 2000, Remember the Titans was an American sports film focused upon fanciful African American football mentor Herman Boone who was depicted by super star Denzel Washington. This motion picture was not just one of the top rated and enthralling films of its year, however offered groups of onlookers a complete representation of mutual activities and leads in the lives of individuals like themselves. Using our text to break down and thoroughly describe the movie in regards to realistic conflict theory, cultural theory and racism all of which plays into the factor of sociology of sport. Prejudice is the amazing conviction that races have unmistakable attributes and inherited variables, and, likewise, certain races are better than others. The realistic conflict theory suggests that contentions between two distinct gatherings will emit as the gatherings contend over the same constrained assets...

A Trip to France

...and looking at buildings. Even though it has been many years since I visited Paris, many things about that vacation are still very clear in my memory. For example, I remember when my sister, my father, my mother and I went to Disneyland. It was very exciting because many of my classmates had been there at the time and told me how fun it had been. My sister and I were so ecstatic when we entered, we didn’t even have the time to embrace the atmosphere or look around properly, and we ran around and spoke out of context. We calmed down and followed our parents around. After some time, after seeing where all the princesses lived, we came to the conclusion that Disneyland wasn’t as fun as we had imagined it would be. We saw the princess parade and a place where you could see animals like horses, chickens and rabbits. I think that was the highlight on that trip. Anyway, sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do, but who you do it with, so I would say that I was very lucky to have my sister with me. Of course my parents were to have a bit of ‘fun’ too, so they chose for our family to take a guided trip on a boat. I remember we sailed past Notre Dame. At the time I only knew the building from the Disney movie, so I think I was expecting a man jumping around on the top of the building or something. Another thing I remember was that, when the guide on the boat first mentioned Notre Dame, all the Chinese people raised and for some seconds I only noticed the sound of their cameras. My......

...vacations. On car journey I would like to talk about today was my visit to Mount WUYI which is located in Fujian province. Last winter vacation, my family and I decided to go to Hainan. Unfortunately, we were informed that Hainan was hit from typhoon 2 days before our departure. As the city repaired damaged, there were still powerful following storms threatening this region. Out of a choice, we canceled our trip. However, it was not often the case that my family and I could get time together to have a holiday trip. In order to fully enjoy our vacation as we planned, we changed our destination to WUYI city. Due to the sudden change, we failed to buy train tickets and had to drive there on our own. It turned out that visiting places like Mount WUYI is perfect for self-driving. It was estimated as a 3-hour driving so we rented a SUV and switched drivers on the way. Each of us were responsible for a part of the highway, and whenever we saw something fascinating, we just pulled over the car to have a closer look at it. I guess those are the merits of renting a car and going on a trip with family. Mount WUYI, a very popular scenic area in China is famous for the natural conservation of numerous ancient plant species and wildlife. The popular activities there include hiking and drifting. The first day we rode a raft down the streams. The raft we took was tied by bamboo, and there were two men using long poles to steer the craft down the water. When drifting smoothly on the......
