Analysis 5.1
Will Grant
Refuse to work because union allegations have merit
Purpose: In this case, he would be taking an ethical stand. He would seem to believe that it wouldn’t be right to continue to work even if there are no safety rule infractions.
Pride: He would make the decision to go against money vs whats right to justify his moral values, and would then basically pat himself on the back.
Patience: In any case of a strike, it’s all about waiting out on both sides until an agreement can be reached. In this case, he would be on the side of the union strikers.
Persistence: For him to be on strike, he would have to stick to his guns and values, even with the temptation to cross over.
Perspective: In this case, he sees that there is an unsafe working environment, so he is siding with the union.
Strike breaking is unethical
Purpose: He would be refusing to work on the account that his company hired “scabs” to perform the union strikers jobs for the duration
Pride: Its considered very insulting during a labor dispute for the company to bring in other workers to do the jobs on the union
Patience: It would be very hard to be patient in this situation, especially since it’s a matter of ethics.
Persistence: The efforts of siding with the union would have to be pretty strong and continually increase to prove his point.
Perspective: Its pretty clear cut on what his perspective is. He believes its unethical to basically say the workers are replaceable.
Fill obligation of all management workers:
Purpose: To continue working through the strike based on his duties as a member of management and fellow employee
Pride: He would be taking a literal pride in being in a position of leadership.
Patience: By doing this, he believes by working, he will set an example.
Persistence: By staying the course, his message to the union will get across eventually, but won’t necessarily stop the strike.
Perspective: As a member of management, he has an obligation to the company, not the union.
Work to earn extra money
Purpose: To earn more money by taking advantage of the incentive offered by working during the strike
Pride: He would be able to afford more of the expensive things he would want, like the down payment on a car.
Patience: Just by continuing to work, he will earn more money over the duration of the strike. Not too complicated of a situation.
Persistence: The longer he keeps this up, he will also gain recognition from the company.
Perspective: He believes he can take advantage of the situation and pay increase during the strike.
Work because he’s afraid of being fired
Purpose: Work so he keeps his job as he believes he could be expendable
Pride: It would be more of he believes in his pride being hurt if he lost his job
Patience: Nothing too difficult to understand, he needs to work during the strike and just wait it out or he could be fired.
Persistence: He keeps working, then there’s nothing to worry about.
Perspective: He believes he’d be fired if he sides with the union, so he believes he should continue to work.…...

Byp 5-5

...BYP 5-5 BYP 5-5 COMMUNICATION ACTIVITY | | (a), (b) President Surfing USA Co. Dear Sir: As you know, the financial statements for Surfing USA Co. are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. One of these principles is the revenue recognition principle, which provides that revenues should be recognized when they are earned. Typically, sales revenues are earned when the goods are transferred to the buyer from the seller. At this point, the sales transaction is completed and the sales price is established. Thus, in the typical situation, revenue on the surfboard ordered by Flutie is earned at event No. 8, when Flutie picks up the surfboard. The circumstances pertaining to this sale may seem to you to be atypical because Flutie has ordered a specific kind of surfboard. From an accounting standpoint, this would be true only if you could not reasonably expect to sell this surfboard to another customer. In such case, it would be proper under generally accepted accounting principles to recognize sales revenue when you have completed the surfboard for Flutie. Whether Flutie makes a down payment with the purchase order is irrelevant in recognizing sales revenue because at this time, you have not done anything to earn the revenue. A down payment may be an indication of Flutie’s “good faith.” However, its effect on your financial statements is limited entirely to recognizing the down payment as unearned revenue. If you have further......

Chanel No.5

...INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL SETTINGS / DESIGNER CASE STUDY RESEARCH TASK FASHION DESIGN Fashion design - brand : CHANEL History of Chanel No.5 Chanel No.5 is the first perfume launched by French couturier Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in 5 May, 1921. The chemical formula for the fragrance was compounded by French-Russian chemist and perfumer Ernest Beaux. The number 5 to Coco Chanel means good luck. She released this perfume on the 5th day of the 5th month and it's main sent is May rose and jasmine. Coco's famous quote on Chanel No.5 is “what is very important in a fragrance, is that the fragrance has some kind of mystery” The Chanel No.5 journey starts of in the fields of May roses at the Mul family's generations-old flower farm, in Pégomas, France. The weather is perfect for growing and picking roses: fresh and not too warm. Every single rose that goes into each bottle of No. 5 parfum is harvested by hand right there. A 30mL bottle of No. 5 parfum contains 1,000 jasmine flowers and 12 May roses - all from this same field. On average, it takes an hour and 20 minutes for a flower to go from being plucked in the field to being processed in the factory. Workers gently place the roses in the pockets of their aprons and transfer them into big burlap sacks; once these sacks are full, they’re loaded onto flatbed trailers and pulled by tractor back to the plant. Jean-Francois Vieille, a cousin of Joseph Mul’s, oversees operations at the prettily landscaped......
