Critical Argument Analysis July 8, 2013 ENG/215

Think about what would happen if there was no Eminem? Then there would be one less rapper that is in the music industry today. But more than likely what you are thinking right? Well it would not just be one less rapper. It would also be one less of a role model for anyone who cares about him. Eminem is an influence to the young life and even the adults. His songs are stories are on his life and things that he would have wanted to change or make different. Most of them are based on each and every subject that happened to him through his life. At first some of the children and growing ups in this time and some adults face some of the same problems he faced. Therefore, Eminem is an influence who expresses himself in his own different style or it is his character. His music is an influence because of its rhythmical story behind it. Let`s look at the song “Mockingbird” for example; it is a song of how Eminem’s daughter Hailie was growing up with her mom and her father was always on the news (Eminem) was always on the move. If u think about it, not everyone gets to see their father and mother every day of the week. Some of the children’s parents may work different shifts at their job and that would make it unable for the children to see them a lot or as much as they want this was being expressed during the song “Mockingbird Hailie barely got the chance to see her dad or her mom and stayed with her “Crazy Uncle Laney”. It is true that some of his music can be somewhat violent and explicit but this is what happened to him and he is willing to tell his story. What makes people listen is that he is being so open about the life that he is living and that we can relate to certain materials he went through. His song “Not Afraid” is also a good song to relate things to. This song is about how Eminem is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in and what he thinks is right. It is an influence on individuals for them to do the same. Basically it is saying, if you believe in something you should go after it even if someone tells you that you can`t do it u shouldn`t listen to them go with your instincts’ not what someone else says. Another thing about Eminem and his Importance is a person’s past does not necessarily depict his or her future. Eminem is a perfect example of how a person reacts to his or her past can create or destroy his or her future. Eminem grew up on the streets. He lived the hood life; scraping for pennies and scraps. He constantly argued with his drunken mother. He played the roles of father, mother, and brother to his younger sister. Eminem worked at jobs for little to nothing to help provide. As his life matured he battled with his daughter’s mother. This could have broken him down; for many it would have. But instead of lying around and creating self-pity for himself he went and made something of himself. When it comes to Eminem’s music it is one hundred percent pure success. His success took hard work and effort, but with his dedication it took flight. He battled other individuals who were in the rap game, and Eminem’s quick emotional lyrics dropped them where they stood. Even the most street thug rappers could not compare to what Eminem brought to the stage. He poured his personal emotions and experiences into his music. People can relate to reality. Eminem’s music was a cold, harsh reality. His music expressed his struggles from day to day, not what he saw transpire in the streets amongst other individuals. His music, his lyrics, his reality was the reality for his listeners. Even the listeners who were not experiencing hardships of Eminem’s kind were able to relate. Writing was his therapy, a coping strategy for the hardships that he faced on a daily basis. Since Eminem rapped about his real life experiences it made him more successful in the music industry and society. It gave his listeners something real to relate to. His lyrics, however, are not for individuals who are easily offended, young, or immature.…...

...In today’s worlds health is a big issue. One of the issues that is being faced in today’s America Michael Fumento makes this case in his article “The Feds’ Fib about Low-Fat,’ which was published in the New York Post on July 23, 2002. He is a syndicated column and he appeared in newspapers all over the country. This article is important to those who read and who are concerned about their health. Obesity can lead to other health issues, however, Fumento states that the government and food companies are accidentally misleading people about what works to stop the problem. In the article Fumento argues that the government is saying that having a low fat diet will reduce weight but this is false because people are eating less fat but gaining more weight instead of losing. Fumento’s extrinsic ethos is not very strong. Fumento is not famous enough that his reputation will affect readers. However, in different newspapers in which Fumento’s article appears, there will usually be a byline providing extrinsic ethos. For example, the byline in The Washington Times indicates that Fumento “is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute.” Many readers will not know much about the Hudson Institute, but it sounds impressive. It makes the readers want to know more about this article. Overall, Fumento’s extrinsic ethos is not an important factor. Intrinsic ethos is another important rhetorical appeal in Fumento’s argument as he witness obesity in different country. He travels in many different......

Actually, it is a very short essay for that matter but for some students, it may also be a burden to have a word limit in writing. Let us take a look at the scenarios that you need to understand to compose a well developed essay. For some students, it may be limiting to have a word factor quota in writing an article. There are some individuals who can tell more out of a topic and that having 250 words will not suffice to tell everything in their minds. That is why you need to have the skills in budgeting the words that you have to write without sacrificing the ideas that you have to deliver. There are different essay types that you also need to consider so having a word limit cannot simply be an easy task. Still for some students, a 250 word essay may mean too much because there are also some people who do not want to waste their time writing. No matter what the essay structure may be, these types of people are not really eager to translate their thoughts to written form so they think 250 words simply equates to too much work. ...An essay is usually a short piece of writing. It is often written from an author's personal point of view. Essays can be literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. The definition of an essay is vague, overlapping with those of an article and a short story. Almost all modern essays are written in prose, but works in verse have been dubbed essays (e.g. Alexander Pope's An Essay on Criticism and An Essay on Man). While brevity usually defines an essay, voluminous works like John Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding and Thomas Malthus's An Essay on the Principle of Population provide counterexamples. It is very difficult to define the genre into which essays fall. Aldous Huxley, a leading essayist, gives guidance on the subject: Like the novel, the essay is a literary Abstract This article will examine the reasons why it is important both linguistically and psychologically to build a vocabulary quickly when learning a foreign language. The article asserts that very little can be achieved or learned in a foreign language with a small vocabulary and that by building a sizable vocabulary quite quickly one can soon be able to function adequately. Critical Arguement Analysis Essay

...Fear of Violence Morgan Campbell ENG/215 March 2, 2015 Professor Paul Korzeniowski Fear of Violence Within todays rapid race of self-preservation, there is still overbearing fear within the society. The three essays, that I plan to lay out their critical argumentative analysis, each share a likelihood for fear of violence in daily lives. The author of “Do We Fear the Right Things” identifies differing types of fears people share. While the next author of “Parents Need Help” correlates the rampant rate of video gaming sales to parental and social nurturing guidance. Lastly, the author of “Bang, You’re Dead” argues the proxy self between fantasy violence and children. In reviewing all three essays, it is easier to identify how the authors construct their arguments using opinions and evidence to persuade the reader. Critical Argumentative Essays After the horrific terrorist attack on United States soil in September 11, 2001, author David Myers wrote the professional essay titled “Do We Fear the Right Things” in December 2001. Myers expressed that the fear of the attack surrendered Americans helpless in daily routines. “In the ensuing months, Americans flew 20 percent less. “No way are we flying…instead, we drove many of those miles, which surely caused more additional highway deaths than occurred on those four ill-fated flights,” (Myers, 2001). Throughout the remainder of his article, it explained a multitude of phobias with detailed numerical statistics and off topic...

Writing an Arguement

...and Cons of getting my MBA The slow down of the US economy has caused companies to start to down sizing, reducing their workforce by layoffs or closing down completely. The City of Tucson has certainly had to deal with the reduction of workforce such as layoff and the reduction of pay like furloughs. (cityoftucson.org) During the recent reduction in furloughs I decided that continuing my education would be a very important addition to resume and for a better chance to be available for the private sector if things were to become worse at my job. Furthermore, an MBA can enhance the skills I have already acquired in the workforce to make me a more effective employee and in leadership.   As stated by (2011, p.401-402) “The cause-and-effect essay establishes a causal link between two circumstances. The thesis usually answers the question ‘Why?’” When stating the pros and cons about pursing my MBA it’s an exciting and rewarding life-changing moment especially since I already have a lot on my plate: mother of four children, working a full-time job, occasional take on part-time jobs while going to school one night a week. Many family, co-workers and friends have told me isn’t it expensive to go back to college? My answer is always yes but in my defense I have financial aid and tuition reimbursement to help pay for my classes. As well as, technological limits at this point in time (Pasquale, 76). It is possible to say that it is allowed to overcome the limits in nature. When we speak of the manipulation of some pre-zygotal material elements drawn in the living process. Many believe there is a certain amount of moral ambiguity when referring to cloning. If it is believed that cloning is unnatural therefore it is immoral then can it be said that Cesarean operation is also wrong since it is not the natural way of giving birth? One portrayal of this belief comes from the article “Biblical Bioethics Essay Concerning Genetically Modified Organisms” the author Sandu portrays his view on a theology basis. He concludes that any form of human intervention in the genetic sense other than natural reproduction is unethical. Admittedly, to take something into consideration to be immoral or not, the ends and the means must be taken into deliberation. Evaluating the technology of cloning, a question must be answered: Is the technology used in cloning a universally acceptable method in science. That is, are all species allowed to be cloned without exception? Sandu’s answer to this question would be no. He mentions “[the only acceptable use genetic modification is] natural hybridization that means the mixture by partners genomes mating. We could......

...Cigarette smoking is injurious to health is the notification given in all cigarette packets. But this is not stopped by people who are smoking cigarette as it is not good for health. I personally hate people who are smoking in public places. These people who are smoking in the public places not only cause health problems to them but also to other peoples in these places. Therefore smoking individually inside their homes must not be banned as it is considered as one of the rights of people. But some people will say that smoking must be banned overall and must stop using cigarettes. This is not all possible and it should not be done. Therefore people who are smoking in their homes will be affected by this decision. This must not be done as it will ban the rights of people. This will also lead to the revenue loss of the government. But this cigarette smoking not only affects the individual health but also affects the public when it is done in public places. This must be brought down to act which can help people who are not smoking. The people who are smoking in the public places must be punished literally. This kind of smoking in public places will cause lung disease to both the persons who are smoking and other people who are not smoking in the public. Therefore this kind of smoking in the public must be banned. Smoking in public places will affect the health of each and every person in that area as they are exposed to smoke.
