Assignment 305 Understanding person-centred approaches
In adult care settings

Task B
Bi Write a reflective account derailing an example of how you have or could have, used a person centred approach in a sensitive or complex situation
A new lady arrived at the home where I work with her family and was shown to her room, I asked the lady’s name and she informed me that it was Pat. Pat and her family remained in her room and was brought a tray of tea and biscuits. Pat and her family chatted with the other members of staff and some of the other residents.
It was approaching lunchtime and the family was still with her, as Pat did not wish for them to leave just yet, they stayed for lunch with Pat and where still chatting when I returned to see how Pat had settled in, the family where very happy but Pat had started to become agitated that her family where about to leave, the family where trying really hard to comfort Pat saying they would be back the next day to see her. Pat started to follow them out the door to go with them, looking back at it now I could have been more person centred by talking to Pat to try and distract her taking her for a cup of tea and chatting to her to keep her mind of her family leaving. By talking to Pat I could have gained her trust and made her feel welcomed and safe, rather than letting her fret over not seeing her family again.

Bii Explain how finding out about an individual’s history, preferences, wishes and needs is an important part of creating a good care or support plan
To provide care and support that respects the individual’s wishes, needs and preferences, you will need to find out what you can about them depending on your workplace. Taking time to find out about their personal history by talking with them or reading any information you have will give you a deeper insight into their likes and dislikes.

Client Paper Bshs 305

...Client Paper Teresa Hunt BSHS/305 8-16-14 Amy Barker Client Paper Identifying a client’s problem is a crucial part of the human service worker’s job. The entire purpose of the client coming in is to address a need that is unmet. Before the helper can even begin to plan a solution, they use one of five ways to identify the problem: developmental problems, situational problems, hierarchical needs, and problems that stem from changes in society and the environment. Once the helper knows what the problem is, the communication is a crucial skill to have. Developmental theorists see life as a series of milestones that occur from birth until death. We all go through every stage but the ways people experience them may vary. One’s values, beliefs and childhood experiences also play a role in how a person goes through stages. A developmental model is useful when the helper has a client whose problem is considered deviant, such as criminal activities, like acts of violence, or mental illness. Situational problems are the result of violent crimes, accidents, major changes in life, such as a move to a new city or unemployment, and natural disasters. All humans may face a situational problem at some point in their lives. The result is problems that may be long or short term. Unemployment is a common situational problem today. It has a drastic impact on a person’s ability to provide necessities such as food, shelter and clothing for themselves and their family. ...

Rtf 305 Reflection 1

...Emily Morris March 9, 2015 RTF 305 Reflection 1 Best Post This article discusses the many different ways the different types of media influence youth and children. It identifies that different media have different ways of influencing children in the areas of: learning, violence, nutrition, sexuality, alcohol and smoking, and advertising.  Children are so much more easily influenced by media because of their developing minds and the fact that they are still learning about social norms of the world. Things portrayed to children in the media are thus perceived as social norms even though they are often the most extreme behaviors our society exhibits.  It is important for parents and guardians to monitor their children's exposure to media or at least guide them in their understanding of what they are seeing/hearing/reading/etc. As our world is becoming more and more technology based and more and more heavily influenced by media, cutting out media exposure is not practical or realistic.  Media does not only influence children in negative ways, however. Media can also have positive influences on children's developing minds. Because of this, well-monitored media exposure can be beneficial for a child's development when used in moderation.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2792691/ (Links to an external site.) Best Post Analysis This post was one of my best posts because I in depth discussed the affects of media on the development of children. In......

Business 305

...Business 305 Module 1 Case 1. What do economists mean when they say that there is no such thing as a free lunch? When economists say there is no such thing as free lunch there are saying that everything come with a cost. The product that is been given out for free the resources that was use to produce it was not given to them for free. Let’s take a gift bag that is given when you purchases a perfume set. That gift bag has been made with resources that were bought to produce that product. The saying there is no such thing as free lunch reefers to this. 2. Suppose that your tuition to attend college is $14,000 per year and you spend $5,000 per year on room and board. If you were working full time, you could earn $26,000 per year. What is your opportunity cost of attending college? How does a college education increase one’s human capital? The opportunity cost of attending college is that you are losing out on making the 26,000 per year working a full time job. But as you attend college you are investing in yourself and your future. When you finish college you will make for then the full time job that you have could have been working. The return from the investment of going to college is greater and increases the overall human capital in the long run. 3. When a firm hired its tenth worker, its factory output increased by four units per month. Would you expect the firm's output to increase by eight more units per month if the firm hired two more......

...Kalina Anderson Professor Gretchen Brandhorst April 27, 2015 PSY 305 Exploring Psychology Careers Every time you interact with a person, this means you will be using psychology.Psychology is the study of mind and behavior. It is an academic discipline and an applied science which seeks to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases. Psychology is used in everything, it is used in sales, advertising, managing, statistics, relationships, design, health/psychological health, critical thinking etc. Psychology is beneficial in many ways. Psychology improves communication skills. When we study how people engage in conversation, we can then develop an understanding of how people communicate and gain better personal communication skills and increase effective communication of any regard. This also goes hand in hand when trying to avoid potential miscommunication errors. Understanding psychology also allows for an increased understanding of others. Psychology gives us a “window” into the actions of others that allows us to understand the emotional drive behind human action. This makes it easier to understand actions that seem incomprehensible. Lastly, psychology also helps students gain stronger conflict resolution skills. Once we understand the reasons behind someone's actions, it allows you to become more adept at solving any conflict. Bus 305 Case One

...TRIDENT UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL BUS 305 MODULE ONE FALL 2012 CASE ANDREA F JOHNS DR. BABB 18 JUNE 2012 Well if the demand for oil is strong from country and another country has massive supply of oil, that country such as Iraq can affect oil prices. Basically, if any country has a shortage of oil supply, they can expect that they will have to pay higher prices for oil due to the demand. Also, the world current events can affect the price of oil, because the supply decreases due to politics, wars, and natural events such as tsunamis. Supply and Demand can also be affected by alternative fuel that automobile industries are working on hybrid automobiles that can run on plant and electricity, because of the need to independent from the usage of oil. However, it is hard for dependent countries such as the U.S. to break free from the high demand of oil because there is so much of it, and technology hasn’t advance fast enough, and it is sold at a cheap price from other countries. In addition, oil prices can remain high for those countries that are in a recession or the economy just tanked. If the currency of any country is strong, that country demand and pay the price of any country that supply it, once again affecting the price of oil. Meaning, if Japan right now give the U.S. oil to keep 2 up with the current demands of consumers, we would almost pay double in price, because our currency is very weak against the Yen......

...Azita Beheshti PSYC 305 Week 2 Power is the ability or official capacity to exercise control and authority to reach an objective. The lecture defines: Referent, reward, legitimate, coercive and expert as five different types of power that Sandy, the manager in charge, use’s in order to achieve her objective. The effectiveness of each type of power is greatly dependent on the ability of the Person of Authority, Sandy; to clearly recognize and understand the need and obstacles his/her situation demands, and apply the proper type of power. In the first lecture Sandy utilizes referent power to empower and motivate Danni to do what she needs by rewarding him with a better section. In the other lectures Sandy applies legitimate power in order to guide and help focus Danni to overcome a potentially troublesome situation with the irate customers. Sandy’s legitimate power motivated Danni to use Expert power and minimize the coercive power applied by the customer. The effectiveness of the different types/tools of power varies according to the demands of the situation at hand. A good leader will learn the ability to recognize different situations and problems and learn to apply the proper remedy of power to the task at hand. In my personal experience and based on my personality type I have always found that using referent and reward power has been a great motivator to others and asset in achieving my objectives. People are different, have different needs, wants...
