Assignment 2: Ethical and Socially Responsive Business Chipotle Mexican Grill Eric Jones

BUS 100

Chipotle is a company that is based on a family-oriented and friendly atmosphere with great food, and conversation with friends or family. Chipotle's Code of Conduct relies on Integrity, and Loyalty. Integrity seems to play a major part of the company. Integrity is a concept about being true and honest, even if it means that you have to do the right thing even if your actions showed that it wasn't right. Chipotle is all about adhering to good judgment and high ethical standards which is having trust in a company and having loyalty to the customers, even if the customers are rude and have wild tendencies. Loyalty will keep the customer satisfied and wanting to come back for more and more because they feel that they will not be disappointed in the quality of the type of food that they're getting or won't feel like they are being ripped off for their money. The customers always want to feel like that they are always going to experience great service whenever they step into an Chipotle establishment.

Just like with all companies, Chipotle has an " Anti-Discrimination, Harassment and Sexual Harassment" policy that I think is important also because of what's going on in today's society with transgender roles being brought into the world. A company shouldn't discriminate on a person for what or he/she looks like or their ethnicity of origin. Everyone is different and have special talents in their own way and should be able to utilize their talents without negative consequences or feedback coming their way. The compliance with the "Chipotle Confidential", states that "Chipotle will do it's best to protect the anonymity of any reporting employee to investigate reported matters and comply with the law in which Employees are expected to agree with the Confidentiality of the investigative process". You may not use company property, information or your position for personal gain, or use assets or labor for personal matters or you will be held accountable for your actions. I think that there are three ways that Chipotle can do to make sure that the employees will follow the code of conduct to its full capability. First, have the employees read through the policy or have an Orientation to make sure that the new trainees will read and understand the policies of Chipotle. Second, make sure that they can go over or review on what they have read and see if they can understand what they would be getting into on a daily basis. By doing so, will separate the ones that just skimmed through the pages and did not read the policies from the ones that have read the policy thoroughly. Third, make sure that the code of conduct will be present at all times just in case employees have any questions or concerns that they could go to the policy and read over it and if it's still difficult of understanding that they can talk to the manager and have him rephrase it in terms to where it will be better understanding. In doing these things would make sure that the policy was enforced and that the employees has a clear understanding on what's going on in the business.

First, there must be a market in which allows buyers and sellers to discover information about one another to complete voluntary exchanges of economic value such as a good, service, information or money exchange between two entities. Business is the management of individuals and resources to accomplish certain production goals, usually for the purpose of making a profit. The combination of these three parts of business with in the economy, the consumer will experience an increase standard of living. Without businesses people would have to depend on themselves. Therefore, this is why people create trade with each other instead of having to provide for ourselves for everything. There are many differences for-profit and non-profit have. For- profit organization is a business or organization whose primary goal is making money, as opposed to a non-profit organization whose focuses on helping the community and is concerned with money only when it necessary to keep the organization operating. ...Success: A Process Professor D. Schlanger November 2nd, 2010 Success: A Process What does it mean to be successful? How is an individual considered to be successful? Some may say that the clothes you wear measure success or the car you drive. Yes, these may be considered aspects of being successful but there is more to it than meets the eye. Having all the tangible assets in the world does not necessarily define an individual’s success. Rather, it is the process of setting and achieving goals that is the true measure of success. Once goals are set, the destination where success will be found is then determined. When an individual arrives at their destination, it is here they will find happiness, satisfaction and stability in their life. In order to arrive at the destination it is vital to set attainable goals, seize opportunities, to focus on positivity and to put forth all your effort in the pursuit. Successful businesspeople such as Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, have similar ideals in finding success in life. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs of our time and it did not happen by mistake. I believe that success in all aspects of life, whether it is personal, academic or in business, is defined by achieving goals and in doing so, stability and happiness will be attained. The most important aspect of attaining any goal is to set one. Without setting a goal there is no starting point. The journey cannot end if it does not begin. Setting......

Craig BUS 100 July 28, 2013 Running Head: BUS 100 2 . Describe a time when you experienced effective communication in a business environment. An experience I had with effective communication in a business environment was at my current place of employment. At this particular time we were trying to boost sales for our late night shift. The general manager sent out an e mail to all of the managers and asked that we all submit a few ideas that we had to bring in more students. One of my ideas was to have themed late night activities such as, karaoke night, Hawaiian night, and 70’s night. I also suggested that we have prizes for the top three students that participated. I also passed out a brief survey for the students to fill out, so that they could suggest some things that they would like to do. Later in the week we had a meeting with the general manager and she was impressed by all of the ideas we had come up with. After going through all the ideas we collectively came up with a calander of the events and the......

Bus100 Ethical and Social Responsive Behavior

...Ethical and Socially Responsive Business Chipotle Restaurant first opened its door in 1993 (www.chipotle.com) in Denver Colorado by Steve Ells. There are currently 1600 franchised restaurants in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom specializing in burritos and tacos. Careers range from accounting and management, information technology, cashiers and cooks. The success of any business, particularly the restaurant industry relies heavily on its code of ethics. Chipotle has an “open door” policy of which any of its employees who feel that any of its code of conducts is being violated are free to partake in. As the CEO of Chipotle, there are several key areas in Chipotle’s code of conduct significant to its success. Chipotle will do its best to protect the privacy of its employees who decide to partake in its open door policy. Some of those key areas relating to Chipotle’s code of conduct include: 1. Anti-Discrimination Policy- Chipotle believes that all of its employees should be treated with respect regardless to race, religion, national origin, disability, origin, gender, marital status or sexual orientation (ir.chipotle.com). The also applies to its hiring practices, as well as pay, performance reviews, training advancements and the ability to advance. 2. Sexual Harassment Policy- Chipotle strictly prohibits such behaviors posed upon any of its employees, male or female. Sexual harassment encourages intimidation and could lead to abuse of power...

...Facebook began in the dorm room on Mark Zuckerburg, along with the help of classmates. The original idea was to create a social network for students of Harvard, where he attended. Once the site was up and its popularity was apparent, it was expanded to other universities. A high school version was later added, and finally access was granted to anyone over the age of thirteen that had a valid email address. There are currently nearly seven hundred million users of facebook, with a recent survey stating that nearly 40 percent of Americans have a facebook account (Wikipedia). Facebook is also a major source for businesses to market to their audience. By setting up a facebook page, companies can utilize the targeted audience gathered there to promote their brand in a direct way, with the added effect of being able to reach all 700 million users as well. Sixty nine percent of small business owners said that they currently use social media for their company or business (Protalinski, 2011). Of those that responded that they do not use social media, forty one percent indicated that they would start using social media in the next three months (Protalinski, 2011). The ability to reach the companies’ customers in new and direct ways makes Facebook nearly essential to the business owner. Purchasing ads on Facebook is one way to take advantage of the large number of users, but creating a page on the site itself allows customers to be kept abreast of new products or services, as......

Identify Your Competitive Advantage

...Assignment 1: Identify Your Competitive Advantage Aaron M. Massey Professor Jackson BUS100 26OCT2013 During the course of this paper it is my intent to analyze the strength and weaknesses of Chipotle Mexican Grill in hopes of finding a way that the restaurant chain could boost profit and/or productivity. Chipotle Mexican Grill has many things going for them and against them since opening in 1993 (Wikipedia, 2013). To start with let’s talk about their weaknesses or things they could do better. They don’t seem to be very creative in making new products, they don’t have much of a kids menu, and they’re not that global (Wikiswot). Creating new items isn’t always a make or break thing, but they could still try some new things out every once in awhile. The kids menu is pretty weak and limited 2 soft or crispy taco’s, but not allowed to have 1 of each, three ingredients to include one meat or guacamole, really? (Chipotle, 2013). They are kids, small people; it would not kill Chipotle’s bottom line to let the kids actually pick anything they want, limiting to three items (kids’ servings). Yes, they have a few places outside of the US (France, Germany & UK), but not many, they really could try to expand more to other places like around the Asian/eastern Asia countries (Wikipedia, 2013). Enough of the bad stuff and onto the strengths of Chipotle include low prices, loyal customers, financially strong/stable, they use......
