Computer Comparison
The basic components of all computers are the same whether you are using a desktop, laptop, or a powerful supercomputer. They each consist of hardware, software, input devices and generate output. The difference between the computers comes down to memory and processing speed and internal components. Computers come built in many different configurations to suit the needs of the different requirements they must fill for their individual users. The casual computer user does not need much more than the basics to run simple everyday programs and surf the web. People that use their computer for more consuming programs such as high powered games need more memory, better graphics, and faster processors.
The world of technology is ever changing and even though my computer is relatively new it is has already been outdated. The computer I am currently using has an Intel core i5 CPU with 6GB of installed RAM 5.8GB of it currently available. My input devices would be the mouse and keyboard. For data storage I mainly use my computer’s memory as well as saving documents and pictures online or on small flash drives. My current computer also features a fingerprint reader for added security. It is also a nice feature because it will log you into websites with a swipe of your finger if you save your login information.
Being that my computer is relatively new it is very similar to current models available. My current computer is virtually identical to computers within the same price point as the one I purchased about a year ago. Computers that are at a higher price point have a considerable number of upgrades. Some come with better processors, such as the core i7, and more memory. They also feature better graphics and sound cards. Some computers even feature touch screen. The feature of some new computers that interests me the most is the all-in-one (AIO) computers. They do not have a separate tower all components are contained within the monitor (Jacobsson Purewal, 2011) . AIOs feature a large touch screen and some with up to 2 TB of memory. The quality of computer you have depends greatly on the amount you are willing to spend.

... Comparison on Public Health and Community Health. Shelly Shew NUR/408 October 29, 2012 Kim Oatman Comparison on Public Health and Community Health Nursing. This paper will reflect the history of public health and significant events related to these agencies. The difference between public and community health will be acknowledged. Also information included on county, state, and national public health resources. There has been measurable growth and expansion over the years in regard to public health and its creation. Identification of Public health goes as far back as the 14th century. Towns and cities created a system known as quarantine to deter the bubonic plague (Black Death). Travelers and merchandise from places known to carry infections put in isolation. This procedure was in use until the 19th century to protect the public from the smallpox, syphilis, and cholera epidemics. Public health established services in 1798 as the Marine Hospital Service. This came about by early efforts of the federal government to provide health care to merchant seamen, protecting seaport cities from epidemics. In 1813 charitable services started by the Ladies Benevolent Society of Charleston, South Carolina, health care to the sick and poor. Another step toward the improvement of public health was the creation of the American Medical Association in 1847. Shortly after their existence this group formed a hygiene committee to conduct sanitary surveys and to develop a system to......

During this time certain items shall be focused on such as price and processor speed.   Unit 4 Comparing Computers The three computers that I chose to compare are from Dell and there New Inspiron One 23 All-in-One Desktop, Lenovo’s M92p Small Desktop and HP Pavilion p6-2120. I’m going to compare most of the important components of the computers ranging from processor speed to size of the hard drives and also will be making comparisons of the different prices and how they might fair against each other. Inspiron One 23 All in One Desktop Starting with the price on this Dell New Inspiron One it is priced at $649 which overall isn’t a horrible price for the components which are included in this desktop. The operating system on this machine that comes with it is the Windows 8 64 bit overall what I know about Windows 8 is that it belongs on a smartphone and not a desktop computer. Although this desktop has the option for a touch screen monitor it all depends as what your planning on doing with it as to whether or not you want to spend the extra $150 on the package. The processor is an i7-3770s (3.90 GHz) will help and allow you to multitask more items and at a faster rate without any sort of......

...Computer Instructions, aka Programs Using the information in the Lectures (Computer Instructions, aka Programs) presentation, answer the following: •Name and describe the only language that computers understand and explain how the instructions that people write for computers get into that form Computers only understand one language and that is the machine language (binary code). This type of language is represented in a two digit sequence zero (0) or one (1). Computers use this machine language to represent every task that they perform by means of electrical current that go through switches (capacitors). If a switch has current it means that the switch is “ON” in machine language this will be represented as the number “one”. If there is no current going through the switch then it is considered to be “OFF” and represented in binary code as the number “zero”. Now, the way people communicate with computers is not directly by the language that the computer understands (machine language), but instead a set of instructions have to be written in a different language that specializes in writing programs such as C++ or Visual Basic. These types of languages at the same time have to be translated into machine language either through compilers or interpreters. Compilers translate all the source codes (C++, Visual Basic, etc. language) in a program to machine language before it’s executed. Then after that the compiled program (in this case machine language) is executed by...

...Analogy The clear message from the writer here is that caress Cashmere Luxury Body Wash will stimulate your senses. The feel and smell will be luxurious and extraordinary. The analogy is Cashmere Luxury Body Wash compared to being wrapped in a silky soft pashmina surrounded by the blend of white orchid milk and warm vanilla essence. Incidentally, ‘pashmina’ is said to be the finest cashmere wool. It would be difficult to say that this is a strong comparison. Cashmere wool, vanilla and orchid milk are a tough sell when compared to body wash. On the other hand, the comparison does provoke a strong desire to actually be wrapped in pashmina while inhaling the warm essence of vanilla and orchid milk, white orchid milk nonetheless. The smooth supple feel of the body wash could be compared to the feel of cashmere. Textures are easily compared so I could imagine the feeling on the skin may be similar. Fragrances too can be duplicated and used in perfumes, shampoos, and body washes. A direct and believable association can be made there. Vanilla is a somewhat familiar fragrance as it is used in cooking as well. Orchid milk however, is another story. I suppose orchids are popular and may be a recognizable smell. Orchid milk though perhaps not so recognizable. I think perhaps the figure of speech could relate more specifically to cashmere as opposed to pashmina. Cashmere is more recognizable when referring to fine wool. Perhaps the reference to orchid milk is to compare the......

...Linux has grown in popularity and capability over the years, but is it competitive with its competition. In this paper an overview of the Linux 2.6 Operating System (OS) and how it functions/performs on the technical level will be discussed. Comparisons to other retail OSs such as, Windows, Mac OS X, and prior versions of Linux will be used to show the strengths and weaknesses of this OS. “Linux was created by a student (Linus Torvalds) in Helsinki in 1991 with the assistance of developers from around the world. Linux is free, it shares its work with everyone — including competitors — and its business model is motivated primarily by adrenaline, altruism, and peer respect rather than by money. Yet, Linux's functionality, adaptability and robustness has made it the main alternative for proprietary operating systems, especially where budgets are a main concern.” (OEDB, 2007). As it is stated above Torvalds creation was a key proponent in creating the Open Source Movement, which has paved the way for the many distributions of the Linux Kernel. In the beginning Linus Torvalds was an IT student with the desire to test the limits of his current computer. During this time Torvalds was working with the MINIX OS which was create to be a cheap alternative to UNIX. Torvalds wanted to modify the kernel of MINIX and found that this was not possible so he began to create Linux. In the beginning Linux did not offer a lot of features and seemed to be lacking in ability (Diedrich,......

...The internet was under attack last night by the fastest-growing computer virus in history. Worldwide systems were buckling after the 'Sobig.F' spread to 134 countries in just 96 hours, generating tens of millions of e-mails. Experts fear it could increase the volume of electronic traffic by a staggering 60per cent, slowing the internet to a crawl. It is believed to have cost British businesses alone hundreds of millions in lost orders and system crashes. The global cost will be immense. Individual companies have been bombarded with millions of copies of the virus, while home users have seen their machines "jammed" by up to 6,000. The PC World chain said tens of thousands of customers had brought in computers to be "cleaned" by technicians. Experts say Sobig appears to have been written by senders of "spam" - unwanted junk e-mail - trying to find ways past internet filters which block their messages. The new digital onslaught comes hard on the heels of two other major viruses, Blaster and Nachi. "This is the worst barrage of viruses in the history of computing," said Graham Cluley of Sophos Anti-Virus. "Even companies who are properly protected are feeling a slowdown. "Sobig. F is the fastest-spreading virus of all time and if it carries on at this pace for a few more days it will become the most prevalent too." MessageLabs, a British-based Internet security firm, said it had intercepted more than a million copies of Sobig.F in 24 hours, more than for any other virus...

...“Computers are machines that are used to work on raw data into information. Computers execute tasks according to instructions or programs. Having produced the first computer which used electricity in 1940’s, it was unusually large that it required to be operated by more than one people. They consumed a lot of energy, and they were also acutely slow. However, in comparison with nowadays, computers are remarkably fast in processing speed, not large and are operable by one person. Others can even fit in pockets which are hand held like tablets and even laptop or notebooks which are portable. Desktop computers: as the name suggests, this is a type of computer that is designed to be used on a flat surface of a table or a desk. Desktop computers are made up of separate peripherals or devices. The main components of the desktop computers being the system unit, which is usually rectangular in shape. It is usually placed on or underneath a desk. Other peripherals include, the monitor, mouse, and keyboard, and cables that connect them to the system unit. Laptop computers: these are computers which are light in weight, are mobile and can be taken along to anywhere since they have in built batteries. ...Comparison among the monopoly and oligopoly Competition in the market. A monopoly market contains a single firm that produces goods with no close substitute, with significant barriers to entry of other firms. An A monopoly and an oligopoly are economic market structures where there is imperfect oligopoly market has a small number of relatively large firms that produce similar but slightly different products. Again, there are significant barriers to entry for other enterprises. In a monopoly, the seller charges high prices for the goods because there is no competition. In an oligopoly, the prices are moderate due to the presence of competition. However, they are higher than they would be in perfect competition. Barriers to entry in a monopoly market are high due to technology, high capital requirement, government regulation, patents and high distribution overheads. In an oligopoly market, the barriers to entry are high due to the economies of scale. A monopoly draws power from the fact that it is the only viable seller of the product in the industry. However, in an oligopoly, firms can influence the market by setting their prices, marketing strategies and customer service. In oligopoly, firms may collude rather than compete. The cooperation makes them operate as though they were one firm. This changes the market structure from being an oligopoly to a monopoly. There must be some measure of competition in an oligopoly market structure. The geographical size of the......
