LAb #1 – ASSESSMENT WORKSHEET

Perform Reconnaissance and Probing Using Zenmap GUI (Nmap)
Course Name and Number: Student Name: Instructor Name: Lab due date:

Overview
Hackers typically follow a five-step approach to seek out and destroy targeted hosts. The first step in performing an attack is to plan the attack by identifying the target and learning as much as possible about it. Hackers usually perform an initial reconnaissance and probing scan to identify IP hosts, open ports, and services enabled on servers and workstations. In this lab, you planned an attack on 172.30.0.0/24 where the VM server farm resides, and used the Zenmap GUI to perform an “Intense Scan” on the targeted IP subnetwork.

...WK 9 Expository Essay Final Project Bridget Sherman COM/150 September 9, 2012 Elliot Courtright Social Networks and Teens Essay As a single parent with a pre-teen, it is often hard to make the right decisions in knowing how to keep them safe. It is the hope that the information provided in this paper, will inform the reader of the pros and cons of what it is to have a teen using a social network. As parents, it is a never-ending duty to ensure the safety of the lives that have been given to them as parents. One must ask themselves is this environment a safe place to be in and who will their teen be interacting with. Frequently children in 4th-6th grade levels engage in social networking activities. In the process they post personal, potentially exploitable, information about themselves online. (Social Networking Statistics, 2012) Social networking sites provide many opportunities for adults, but leave adolescents vulnerable to predators, addiction, and lack of social interaction. The beginning of social networking started with a site call BBS (Bulletin Board System). This was a site that allowed user to use text only exchange. This was a popular thing in the 1980s and late 1990s. (Nickson, 2009) The Internet was still new at this stage and did not catch on until AOL (America Online) ventured around in the mid-1990s. Soon sites such as Yahoo and Amazon came alone catching the eyes of the young generation. In August......

Pros and Cons of Css Styles

...Pros and Cons of CSS Styles IT/237 – Intro to Web Design II CSS Styles Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) can be used in three different ways. These methods vary in where the code is written into the Web page, as well as properties of inheritance. The three different styles are as follows: inline, embedded, and external. Inline CSS The inline CSS method is no longer used extensively. Inline means exactly what the name implies. The CSS code is inserted into the tag to which it applies. This method works well for quick prototyping of a Web page, but is impractical in designing a large site. Because the CSS code only applies to the tag into which it was inserted, the designer must manually write any desired CSS code into each tag present. In addition to consuming large amounts of time, this method cannot be shared across pages. As a result, more bandwidth is required to load each page. In addition, inline CSS mixes page content with page presentation which can create issues with how the final product appears to the user. Embedded CSS was developed to alleviate some of these concerns. Embedded CSS Using the embedded CSS method, all CSS code is written into the head of the document. This method ensures that every tag of a specific type on a page will look the same. This creates uniform pages in which each <h1> heading looks the same, as well as any other tags. That said however, embedded CSS still shares the issue of being shared across pages. As a result, each page......

...Writing Assignment #2 SOS-150-OL010 Thomas Edison State College The text (2013) identifies a job as being “a series of tasks or activities that are performed within the scope of what we call work.” Those tasks are done in exchange for payment; however there it lacks a sense of stability and security. Many individuals maintain jobs when they need income for everyday living expenses. A person that has a passion to work in the field of psychology can work as a cashier at a McDonald’s restaurant. A career is defined as “the integration of our personality with our job activities.” (Sukiennik, Raufman, & Bendat, 2013, p. 9) The differentiation between what a job and a career is relates to my own career plans because I would definitely like to have a career in the future. I would appreciate for which ever career field that I become integrated into to be an area that I can utilize all of my skills and attributes in. I am currently pursuing a career in professional counseling specializing in adolescent counseling, and I believe that the skills that I have would allow me to be extremely effective. I am ready and willing to continue my pursuit in advancing my education in attempt to land where I am working towards. I want the long term stability that a career has the potential to provide. After reading about Donald Super’s self-concept theory, I began to think more deeply about how I view myself as an individual, my own personal skills and characteristics,...

...HTML & CSS The content and its presentation Using two websites http://www.bbc.com/ and http://www.basf.com/group/corporate/en/, I am able observe that both sites present their content in a very good way although differently from one another given the nature of their businesses. Both sites have the ability to present their content in more than one language. The content and its presentation on the BBC websites leaves no doubt that it is a news portal. The homepage is displayed distinctively with a unique color from the rest of the pages. The other pages are also displayed with different but consistent colors throughout each particular page. Take for example the Sports page, its dominant and consistent color is yellow throughout the various sports like football, cricket, rugby, formula one and all the rest that are covered in the sports section of the BBC website. The weather page is blue in color. Likewise, the content on the BASF website also leave no doubt that it is a website for a chemical company dealing in various goods and service. The http://www.basf.com/group/corporate/en/ is displayed in a different but consistent color throughout the page every time it is accessed while still maintains the same look. This is a unique property of this page because no matter the change in the dominant color of the page, I was still able to know that I am visiting the BASF website each time the color changed. I think this is because of the consistency of the other properties of......

Pros and Cons of Css Styles

...Pros and cons of Css Styles There are many pros and cons of the cascading style sheets and three different ways that they are used there is in line external and imbedded. The inline method is not really practical because of the consumption of bandwidth that it takes to display each code on each page because on the inline style the code requires web developers to apply this CSS code to each tag be applied this would require developers to have to apply the code so many times that it will take up a lot of time to write. The separation of markup rom CSS presentation is not optimal with an inline style this is the inline style applied to heading The external CSS is another type of style sheet and this was more practical for updating many documents at one time. Another pro about the external CIA says is that your style information can be cashed by the browser so you will not have to write it into individual tags. The cons that I found with the external style sheets is that in some circumstances when import was used it will render the flash with slow environments here’s an example of an external style sheet Body {font-size: medium; Font-family: Serif; Background-color: black; Color: white;} #page {background-color: white; Color: black; Padding: 1em;} H1 {font-size: xx-large; Font-family: San- Serriff; Color: black; Text-align: center; Border-bottom: solid 4px orange;} P {text-indent: 1em; Text-align: justify; 1in-height: 150%;} The next......

English 150

...Alex Darga English 150 9/8/15 When the phrase critical thinking has appeared throughout my high school and college career several things come to my mind. One of the things I think of the most when the phrase appears is sitting in a silent room and being forced to brainstorm. While in high school there were several times where we had critical thinking time, where we had to sit and think of in depth context for a future paper. This was usually at the beginning of a new paper as the teacher wanted us to get all of our ideas onto paper whether it be in note or paragraph form. This helped us start on our paper instead of being thrown into something blindfolded. While teachers would make us use our critical thinking skills I always thought of it as more then just a demand. I believed critical thinking also means to think outside the box. Writing is more than just looking something up in a book or on the internet and putting it into content, I believe its using your own words and own mindset on things. This helps broaden our thoughts to what we put on paper and helps us become a better writer. While critical thinking may be tougher for some, everyone has the ability to think deeper into different topics. Furthermore if it weren’t for critical thinking the world would be a boring place to live in. It would be like no matter whom you would talk to they would all speak the same and would have the same thoughts. So in other words critical thinking means change, different and......

Anthro 150

...Anthro 150 Extra Credit Assignment Archeological and anthropological data and theories have supported the idea that all human societies have developed along a universal “evolutionary” trajectory. Human societies started as small and egalitarian, then transitioned to large and socially complex. This evolution from “foragers” to “states” has paved the way for various theories about the progression of the human race. In Yoffee’s article, “Too Many Chiefs?” he discussed the idea of neo-evolutionism. He describes neo-evolutionism as being a stepladder model of bands turning into tribes, then chiefdoms, and finally states (Yoffee 1993). This model has been used for the past three decades, and has helped archeologists research the early states. Despite its benefits when investigating the rise of early states, this model has been rejected and critiqued by many people. Some anthropologists reject this theory due to their inability to see evolution on one trajectory. Those who reject neo-evolutionism allow for more informative theories of social change and evolution. The idea that all human societies develop along a universal “evolutionary” trajectory can be proved using a new social evolutionary theory discussed in Yoffee’s article, “Too Many Cheifs?” Yoffee breaks down the key components of the new social evolutionary theory and relates them to neoevolutionism. He shows that while taking the idea of a trajectory into account, the new social evolutionary theory does not rest......

Hum/150

...Analyze, Critique, and Discuss The Gladiator HUM/150 It has been said that a gladiator is a warrior, one who was a slave or prisoner, who competed in different gladiator events. Gladiators would fight in rings and be pit up against animals, or other gladiators. These fight usually would consist of fighting to the death. The fate of the gladiators lives was often derived from the unanimous decision of the crowd. (The Roman Gladiator) Usually if a Gladiator was victorious and took the lives of many men, he would be awarded a wooden sword that would signify their freedom. How iconic was it for director Ridley Scott to direct a film by David Franzoni, to depict exactly what it was to be a gladiator. From the infamous fights that took place in the Roman Coluseum, to the melancholy dramatic feeling that overcame Maximus (Russell Crowe) as his family were killed through the treacherous actions of his rival Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). Gladiator begins with the battle with Romanian Army under the leadership of Emperor Marcus Aurelius against the Barbarian Tribe of Germania. This scene showed many striking points. For instance take the scene and where it takes place. Both armies are dressed in the traditional Armor helmets with steal chest plates and large shields. The uniforms are made with immaculate detail. The swords the bows, axes, and all the other weapons look as real as the weapons that were used in real life. The ash and corps infested battlefield......

Css Description Types

...CSS Description Types Tommy Tinsley IT/237 May 16, 2012 Adam Moore CSS Description Types INTRODUCTION Cascading Style Sheets or CSS are created to allow developers to separate the design from the content. This allows HTML to do the markup of the content without developers worrying about the layout. CSS are separated into one of three categories; external, internal, and inline CSS, each has advantages and disadvantages. INLINE CSS Inline CSS are applied in the middle of the HTML code and only apply to the line it is inserted into. This type of style sheet also contains the highest priority and will override any other CSS that is in place for that individual line. It is quick and easy to use Inline CSS and developers do not have to create a new document or edit CSS in the head of the document. However, the ease of Inline CSS is also its problem. If using this CSS only every single line will have to be edited. Inline CSS cannot perform complex styles like style the visited, active, or link color of an anchor tag. INTERNAL CSS <html> <head>  <title>Internal Style Sheet Example</title>  <style>   <!--     body { background: #C9F1C5 }     h1 { color: #54B24B; font: bold 14px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica }     p { font: 12px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica }   -->  </style> </head> <body>  <h1>Page With an Internal Style Sheet</h1>  <p>This page contains style definitions at the top......
