The video on washing hands is a good way for you to teach your child and other how to wash their hands the proper way. Adults know that we wash ours hands before we eat, after we use the restroom, cough, sneeze, or pick up dirty things. We as parents and teachers need to instill these health tips to our students. A lot of parents just sit there child down to eat without washing or sanitizing their hands. Let’s wash
Those germs away. I feel very confident about my demonstration, because I have worked in daycare and food services; and the one thing they were big on was cleanliness. I wouldn’t change anything about my demonstration, because I followed the video step by step and was very clear on explaining each step carefully. From this experience, I’ve learned that even infant hands should be washed after changing his/her diaper. Not washing your hand is the number one way we carries disease and infection. A baby will put his or her on a nasty diaper or even their private area while you are changing him or her. I also did my demonstration on diaper changing in the infant room. I felt great about the demonstration, due to the fact that I watched the video and understood exactly what to do. During the demonstration, I was more focused on keeping the baby still while I changed its diaper. I remembered from the video I could have given the child a toy to play with while I changed him or her diaper. I would not change anything about my demonstration. T he Director told me I did an awesome job. I also taught the teacher in the room how to change a diaper properly. I’ve learned just to have fun and enjoy what I am doing. I now understand that if I make a mistake, I need to see to it that the mistake is corrected right away. I always try to do these steps for health reason for myself, the children, and to stop the spreading of…...

Rogers______________________________________6 Conclusion___________________________________________________________7 References___________________________________________________________8 Introduction In 2002 DreamWorks produced a block buster film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks titled “Catch Me If You Can.” This film portrays the glamorous lifestyle and subsequent fall of perhaps the most infamous check fraud perpetrator of all time, Frank Abagnale. Fraud is defined as “deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence…” (, 2012). Check washing is when a person would “…erase the ink on a check…and rewrite the check to themselves increasing the amount payable…” (Center, 1995-2009). If you saw “Catch Me If You Can,” this is what you witnessed Mr. Abagnale doing with the Pan Am pilot paychecks. Both of these types of fraud are very simple ways to steal from the consumer when they least expect it. Check Fraud According to the National Check Fraud Center, “check fraud is one of the largest challenges facing businesses and financial institutions today.” With the availability of home computers......

Cloth vs. Diapers

...Vs Disposable Diapers…..What’s Best? Introduction Diapers have been used by humans throughout history. But, the word diaper did not originally refer to its use. Instead, the term originally referred to a type of cloth with a pattern of small repeated geometric shapes. The first diapers were made of a special type of soft cloth cut in geometric shapes. The method of creating geometric shapes in cloth was called diapering, but it eventually gave the name of the cloth used in making diapers back in 1590s in England. Diaper is used on children who are not yet toilet trained to prevent bed-wetting and to keep babies’ skin clean and dry. While it was originally made of cloth material, several variations and improvements were made on the diaper resulting in the creation of disposable diaper. Unlike cloth diapers which can be washed and reused multiple times, disposable diapers are thrown away after use (Leverich). The boom of the disposable diaper industry suggests that it is more preferred by parents that its cloth counterpart. Parents choose what they think is best for their baby. Hence, while the use of disposable diaper has become a trend, it actually has a number of disadvantages that may want parents to reconsider using cloth diapers. Health and Comfort One of the main reasons of using diapers is to provide comfort for the baby by keeping their skin dry, healthy and free from rashes. Prolong wetness irritates the baby’s skin and cause rashes. Cloth diaper is made......

The Hand

...At the beginning of the story, the wife regarded the hand with young love and pride. She was excited to be lying next to her newlywed husband and she enjoyed having his hand next to her. She felt mature and proud to be married at such a young age to a handsome young man. She was happy, excited, and surprised of her new status. But throughout the story, her attitude began to change. It started when she realized qualities of his hand that she hadn’t from the beginning. She noticed how big his hand is, how powerful his knuckles are and how unsmoothed out the ridges of his nail buffer was. Little by little, she begins to notice shocking details about the hand she thought she knew well. She began comparing the hand to one of an animal, or even worse, a beast. The wife’s description of the hand makes me think that she might be scared of him as she begins to observe his hands with horror and disgust. She changes my thoughts of how she views his hands with every nasty detail she lists about it. The way she describes her hands make me feel like the hand (or the husband) suggests authority and power over her, or even oppressiveness. When she says “Oh!” in paragraphs 16 and 20, it is because she has faced with something slightly indecent which makes her feel uncomfortable. She has noticed this big change of perspective which shocked her and which she did not like. She thinks to herself how she didn’t realize this before, the missed and ignored details which revealed the real man......

...that the effectiveness of anti-bacterial hand washing agents is strongly influenced by hand washing techniques. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of hand-washing by hospital employees, and to determine if this could be improved by means of an educational intervention. b) Summary of method Within the orthopedics department fifty-five staff members were requested to wash their hands as they commonly would. A poster scheme within the hospital which described effective hand washing routines was the only training subjects had received prior to this study. The performance of hand-washing was assessed by observing the missed areas on the hand of each individual subject under UV light. Once the subjects were aware of the missed areas they were then exposed to the proper six stage hand-washing technique in order to cover these areas. Seven days later the subjects were retested in the same manner to evaluate the effectiveness of this educational intervention. c) Outcome of investigation Results showed that the performance of hand-washing before the educational intervention was applied varied widely amongst the subjects, where the missed areas on the hand ranged from 0% to 34.7%. After the educational intervention was applied 49 out of the 53 subjects improved their overall performance. d) Future directions In order to reduce the spread of infection in future it is crucial that proper effective hand-washing for hospital staff is encouraged. Washing Away

...CORRECTED 13 OCTOBER 2006; SEE LAST PAGE REPORTS Washing Away Your Sins: Threatened Morality and Physical Cleansing Chen-Bo Zhong1* and Katie Liljenquist2 Physical cleansing has been a focal element in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. The prevalence of this practice suggests a psychological association between bodily purity and moral purity. In three studies, we explored what we call the ‘‘Macbeth effect’’—that is, a threat to one’s moral purity induces the need to cleanse oneself. This effect revealed itself through an increased mental accessibility of cleansingrelated concepts, a greater desire for cleansing products, and a greater likelihood of taking antiseptic wipes. Furthermore, we showed that physical cleansing alleviates the upsetting consequences of unethical behavior and reduces threats to one’s moral self-image. Daily hygiene routines such as washing hands, as simple and benign as they might seem, can deliver a powerful antidote to threatened morality, enabling people to truly wash away their sins. W hen we find ourselves in morally compromising situations, how do we deal with the consequences of unethical behavior, given that most if not all of us desire a moral self-image? This paper investigates a basic coping mechanism that has been used by religions for centuries: washing away one_s sins. Physical cleansing, such as bathing or washing hands, is at the core of many religious rituals. Baptism, for instance, is a water purification ritual......

Hand Washing

...Essay 12/02/2014 The most important thing you will ever do! Not washing your hands properly can cause you, or someone else to get very sick, or even die. How would you feel if someone you know or love died because of someone else not taking the time to wash their hands properly? Most people are unaware of the importance of washing their hands. Many infectious diseases are spread through direct or indirect contact. During my studies as an Emergency Medical Technician I learned the true importance of always washing your hands properly. Keeping your hands clean can prevent the chance of spreading diseases. According to a study conducted by the American Society of Microbiology, most people do not wash their hands as often as they say they do. This study found that 97 percent of females and 92 percent of males say that they wash their hand regularly. However, only 75 percent of females and 58 percent of males are actually washing their hands as much as they should. Just because you can’t see germs, it does not mean they are not there. Bacteria and viruses are microscopic organisms that can be transmitted via your hands. Germs can be passed through direct or indirect contact. Direct contact is inhaling someone else’s illness through their coughs and sneezes. Indirect contact occurs when you touch a germy surface like a door handle and then touch your nose, eyes, mouth, or someone else’s hands. Viruses can live on hard surfaces for days, to even weeks just waiting to...

Proper Hand Washing

...Hand Washing Cristina Mesa Nova Southeastern University Hand Washing Proper hand washing is the first line in defense against spreading bacteria and infections. Most individuals don’t understand the importance of simply washing their hands. The spread of countless diseases and infections could be avoided by engaging in a little more awareness. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of hand washing, how hand washing can improve patient care, and to discuss how hand washing can be incorporated into patient education. Importance of Hand Washing Good hand washing habits are essential in any setting, not just bathrooms. It is necessary to wash a persons hands after using the restroom, after any outdoor activity, after any contact with another person, before and after eating, and especially after touching or petting any animal. The more an individual practices the importance of hand washing the better. It is sad how many people believe that hand washing is unimportant and needless. According Borchgrevink, Cha, and Kim (2013), hand washing is the most effective thing one can do to reduce the spread of infectious diseases . Patient Care Improvement With Hand Washing In hospitals, hand washing is even more important due to the abundant amount of bacteria and infection under one building. Nurses must follow proper hand washing techniques in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases to their patients. When a patient is in the hospital, their......

Washing Hands

...the beginning of the chapter "On Washing Hands", Dr. Gawande stated that the spread of hospital-acquired infections could be stopped if the medical staffs wash their hands frequently between each patient visits. The infections are carried through the doctors and staff members and then transferred to the next patients by "having shaken hands with a sniffling patient…most of [the staff] do little more than wipe [their] hands on [their] white coats and move on--to see the next patient" (Gawande 15). The various contagions that the staff encounter is known to cause deadly infections and about ninety thousand patients die from these infections during their stay in the hospital. Gawande listed several case studies of early physicians who noticed the difference when staff did or did not take care of their hygiene before a procedure and concluded that doctors themselves are carrying the disease between patients. The simple act of washing hand is difficult for the staff not because of medical staff ignorance but rather medical staff non-compliance. The staff does have knowledge of what do—in this case, washing hands- but rather not have the knowledge of how to apply washing their hands correctly, which Gawande called being non-compliance. Hospitals have infection-control units that work "to stop the spread of infection in the hospital" (Gawande 13). Gawande mentions the different techniques the infection-control unit has tried in order to make washing hands more convenient for the......

Hand Washing

...harmful and infectious germs from entering your body. One of the main ways to stay away from germs and other harmful microscopic organisms is to wash your hands. Although it seems useless, our hands play a significant role in the transportation of germs from one place to another because of the amount we use our hands. Simple things like washing your hands before and after eating, when using the restroom or whenever your hands look or feel dirty, will give a better chance of staying away from sickness. Spreading awareness about the importance of washing your hands is key, and the focus should be on children. To spread awareness about proper hand washing, I went to Calvary Chapel School to interact with the children in kindergarten. I started off the presentation with a short story about a boy and girl who were playing with some toys. The toys had germs on them and after playing with the toys; the boy and the girl went to go eat lunch. The girl remembered to wash her hands before eating, but the boy, however, forgot. After a couple days, the girl was fine but the boy had a cough and other cold symptoms. The next time the girl and the boy were playing with toys, after they both washed there hands, and they both didn’t get sick. After giving the short story, I passed out a flyer with information regarding washing your hands and germs to all the kids in the class. Then I proceeded to briefly describe to the children about germs and what they actually are. With all the......

Diaper Humiliation

...Diaper Humiliation Holly had worked as a baby-sitter for the neighbourhood parents’ babies, but had never gotten over the wonderful feelings she had while sitting. She thought it was just her maternal instinct kicking in early, as she had started sitting at age ten to earn some spending money, and to ‘teach her some responsibility’ as her father put it. What a joke! She hardly learned responsibility from doing a job she felt she should pay the parents for the pleasure of doing! There was nothing that thrilled her more than preparing bottles, cuddling the children, feeding them, and rocking them to sleep. She felt, from talking to her friends at school, that it was rather unusual to like changing diapers, though. Yes, Holly even enjoyed that, and it didn’t matter if they were wet, messy or both! Well, now it was twenty-six years later. Holly had finished college with a teaching certificate and a specialisation in early childhood education. Some investments she had made had paid off, so she didn’t really have to work, but just like when she was ten, felt so drawn to ‘her’ babies, that it wouldn’t have mattered if the school wanted her to pay them, she would still go to work. When she was in college, though, she had dated some, and the guys she had gravitated toward were all rather submissive. From one of them, she had found out about the Adult Baby scene. Being submissive herself, she decided to (secretly) investigate this fetish the guys had. She......
