Ethical Foundations Personal Statement
Rartajah Davis
Concordia University

My actions and decisions are governed by ethics. My character, morals, and values help to shape how I behave ethically. My ethical behaviors are certainly the driving forces behind how I interact with others. Consistent daily reflection of my actions is crucial. This paper will be a personal statement of my ethical framework. One of the character traits that accompany my ethical framework is being accountable. Borgmann provided a specific emphasis on “taking responsibility for our actions” (p.4). Taking responsibility of our actions should not be “patronizing but a form of recognition or realization (p. 4). I firmly believe that taking accountability for my actions is being responsible. At work, I make to complete all of the tasks I am assigned to do. When the head administrator at the school where I work provides me with a list of tasks, I will complete it. Another character trait that goes with my ethical framework is integrity and wholeness. Palmer stated that integrity means more than “adherence to a moral code” (p.8). He defined integrity as “the state or quality of being entire, complete, and unbroken.”(p. 8). An example of integrity is being open and honest, and treating people with respect in all areas of my life. Thirdly, a theory that I associate with is the Divine Command theory. This theory simply means I do what the Bible tells me to do. The Bible is my moral source. My goal is to follow and obey the commandments in the Bible. Additionally, I associate with the Inner Voice theory. The inner voice theory focuses on listening to my conscience because it will tell me what is right and wrong when I desire to make a decision. “Virtue Ethics” is last theory that I can relate to. My aim is to be a good person by having…...

Synthesis on Ethical Foundations of an Enterprise

...Synthesis on Ethical Foundations Of An Enterprise By: Rufino A. Santos III For many years people in "business" have had the reputation of needing to be ruthless in order to succeed. We've all heard remarks and jokes that perpetuate such stereotypes and caricatures, to the effect that there is no such thing as an honest person in business. Such comments would not be made unless there were at least some truths behind them on many occasions. We all know examples of people in business who have done things we consider dishonest, repugnant and socially irresponsible, all for the sake of personal monetary or material gain and, in many cases, ‘got away with it’ as far as the law is concerned. According to Charles Francis Adams “Failure seems to be regarded as the one unpardonable crime, success as the all redeeming virtue, the acquisition of wealth as the single worthy aim of life. The hair-raising revelations of skullduggery and grandscale thievery merely incite others to surpass them by yet bolder outrages and more corrupt organisations”. These were words written over a hundred years ago not by a management guru but an ordinary person who have concretely experienced such trends. In fact, so many revelations are reported that people who wish to be honest in the business world may be tempted to believe that they, too, must be sneaky, deceitful or dishonest in order to pay their way and make a decent profit. Various gurus have consciously defined ethical conduct in which one......

Foundations

...I choose to write my foundations paper on an organization that is based in my area that I live in, and although it is in my area it is not just a local organization but one that actually has the ability to span across the nation with support from local companies, as well as government agencies. The organization with which I am speaking is the Freestore Foodbank. I will go into the details of the non-profit organization in further detail in this paper. The Freestore began in 1971 by a man named Frank Gerson who worked in Cincinnati’s incinerator. He saw that there was too many household items that were being wasted when there were so many in his community that needed help. So this man quit his job, and started the non-profit business out of his apartment. By 1979 it had grown too big for his little apartment to handle, so he decided to get a warehouse to handle the sorting, and distribution of the food items for his community. Also at this time the Freestore became a founding member of Feeding America, which helped the organization evolve into the Freestore Foodbank. Today the Freestore is one of over 200 foodbanks within the Feeding America networks, which helps serve communities across the whole nation, not just in the Cincinnati area. They distribute over 19 million meals through a network of 275 community agencies. www.fsfb.org. This is an astonishing number of meals that are handed out to those that are going hungry, which is the organizations main mission. No one......

Foundation Schools

...Problem Solution: Foundation Schools MMPBL/510 Problem Solution: Foundation Schools Foundations Schools is the largest provider of special needs education in the United States (UOP scenario, p. 1). There are three campuses, serving about 1000 students, increasing about 5% a year, but the board believes that number could be higher and has “adopted a new strategy that uses business development as the model to increase funding sources and revenue” (UOP, scenario, p. 1). They have outlined a three year program plan, with several new projects; however, they have developed some issues with formulating some aspects of the plan, because of the lack of strategic planning. The Foundation Schools wants to implement successfully the projects outlined in the business plan over the next two years. The implementation and process will need to satisfy the school’s mission and strategic plan for growth in both student population and revenue. The school’s faculty, board of directors and administration must be open to change and have the talent and resources to put these changes in motion. Successful program management creates both the structure and practices to: A. Guide the program and provide senior-level leadership, oversight, and control. B. Strategically, it encompasses the relationship between the oversight effort and the organization’s business direction. C. Foundation Schools will need to encompass the decision-making roles and responsibilities......

...This was my first footstep of starting my degree life. First day of attending the Foundation of Business course, the feeling of tension filled me up. The main reason was because I have to adapt the new course and environment. This course is taught by Ms. Khor Siu Gek, an approachable and friendly lecturer. When I first glance over the module guide, this is quite a different course since it contains 100% coursework mark. In the first lecture class, Ms. Khor explained about what we are going to do throughout this course. The 100% coursework mark is divided into four categories which are portfolio, group project, essay on a given assignment and attendance. We need to provide evidence such as draft, notes and pictures as a proof to show the accomplishment of learning process. Some activities will be carried out in every tutorial class to ensure that students are participating in classes. Then, we need to express our feeling and provide relevant theories learnt in the reflective report weekly. This is to improve our learning skills, communication skills, time management skills and critical thinking skills. I can still remember clearly that Ms. Khor had made the introduction part became very interesting. She gave us a roll of toilet paper and asked us to take how many pieces we wanted to take. I felt nervous because I did not know what activities would be carried out. Finally, I took a piece of toilet paper. After that, she asked us to tell our secret according to the number of...

Foundations for Unviersity Success

...Foundations for University Success Name Class March 19, 2013 Teacher Introduction The writing process is a very useful tool in which many people, including me, use. It has been around for many years. It is a process in which people can express themselves, tell a story, or just explain what’s on their mind. If you follow the writing process then it will help improve your education, thus being able to write effectively as a student. Being able to write a paper, report, or even a presentation effectively while in school will also benefit you in your career choice. All of these traits will make you stand out above others who aren’t as knowledgeable or don’t understand the writing process. Goal Setting You must be clear and open minded when it comes to setting educational and life goals in order to achieve those goals. “Goals are used to get us from point A to point B; how we get there is another story. If the goal is too broad and not defined well the route we take may get us to point B, but the time it takes to get there may be longer than we want.” Fickenscher Range, Bruce. (2014, May 21). Setting goals. The Lamar Ledger. As Bruce Fickenscher said in his quote, goals must be specific, clear and possible. Setting goals is a persons’ foundation to success. Being able to set and reach goals will strengthen you as a person and have a positive impact on your life. One educational goal that I’ve set in place for myself is to be able to reach my Associates degree......

The Foundation...

...Joshua Lecour 15 October 2015 Essay #2 The majority of adults today have a stable home life, which helps to build a stable foundation by the time they reach grade school. That’s all in thanks to having loving and caring parents, grandparents and caretakers to guide kids so that they can preform at the highest levels in life, especially scholastically. In a perfect world having a solid system like this to build on would be the perfect catapult for success in America’s school systems. Unfortunately, most children in the inner cities aren’t blessed to have a stable home because of the absence of consistent parental figures in the house. Sometimes these households have one parent within them because of divorce or other more saddening circumstance like the death of a parent. Death leads to an absence within a child life that will persist into their adult life. Despite the timing or reason behind these situations they greatly affect a child’s confidence, self-esteem and self worth. Instability within the household causes a child to suffer anxiety disorders and self-confidence issues, depending on the situations that occur like physical or substance abuse by the parent, which is taken with them into the classroom. This kind of conditioning at home also shapes the ability to interact with other students in a positive or negative way, which also leads to poor academic and social standing within a school setting. The easiest way to remedy the issues of poor performance in school......

Foundation of Psychology

...The Science of Psychology Foundations of Psychology Suzette Lee [ Monday, April 02, 2012 ] PSY300 Psychology is a scientific study that investigates the main components of the brain, the mind and the body in different fields of psychology in order to understand and conduct observations of the mental process of the human mind, and observable behavior. Psychology is often used to understand the unknown of human behavior, and their potential patterns that observe the actions of self expression on how people feel and store memory. The study of the mind is an observation of a person’s mental awareness of both the conscious and unconscious mentality. Structuralism was the dominant school of psychology in Germany and the U. S. between1890-1920, and was the school of thought based on the notion that the object of psychology is to analyze consciousness into its basic elements and investigate how these elements are related. Structuralism explores areas of the mind, focus mainly with sensation and perception in vision, hearing and, touch through introspection, or the systematic observation of one’s own conscious experiences, although Functionalism was the protest against structuralism and had the assumption that functionalism was more practical and concerned with commonsense issues, structuralism believed that mental functions were not subject to introspective analysis which it was the shaping of the mind that could be analyzed. Another school of thought is behaviorism, in......
