“Lil’ Lady RaRa” (hereinafter referred to by her legal name, Ms. Eugenia Glover) has been an inconsistent dues paying member of our union since 2003. She is a DJ, voiceover artist, mime, program host and former news editor (self described on her website as “the Hottest Host in the Galaxy”). Ms. Glover worked at FOX News from 1999 – 2005. She was working as a news editor on the FOX News show, “The O'Reilly Factor hosted by Bill O’Reilly” in May of 2005. On the show on the evening of May 10, 2005, there was a segment of an interview with guest, Courtney Anderson (http://www.billoreilly.com/show?action=viewTVShow&showID=265). The interview included a discussion of laws regarding child abuse laws in Texas and the newspaper, the Houston Chronicle. The host, Bill O’Reilly, made comments on the air that resulted in the Houston Chronicle newspaper writing and publishing an Editorial Journal on May 12, 2005 entitled, “Editorial Journal: The No Facts Zone.” It stated in part,
“O'Reilly claims his show is free of spin. Spin is when someone casts the facts in such a light as to reinforce his argument and weaken his opponent's. What O'Reilly did was to disregard the facts altogether, even going so far as to attribute to the Chronicle words and views it did not print and does not espouse. That's not spin; it's misrepresentation that is unprofessional, unwarranted and injurious to the public debate about a serious and urgent issue: protecting children from predators.” (Gibbons, 2005)

...Assignment #3 Analysis of “The Alchemist” Final draft The Alchemist is a brilliant novel by the great Brazilian author “Paulo Coelho’. This novel tells the story of a young shepherd called Santiago who lives alone with his herd of sheep. He travels from one place to the other, meeting new people and exploring new things. In one of his journeys, he meets an old woman who has the ability of foretelling the future. This woman tells him that there is a treasure that is waiting for him. After this, the young shepherd keeps looking for this treasure by travelling through different countries and learning about various traditions. During his journey for the treasure, he falls in love with an Arabian girl called Fatima and she also taught him a lot of new things. Finally, he arrives at the place where the treasure is supposed to be, in Egypt. Surprisingly, he does not find any treasure! Taking a closer look at this novel, naturally the reader would question the reason behind going through all of these obstacles in the novel, when the shepherd ends up without the treasure. Is the author’s intention to provide the reader with entertainment and suspense? Or is it just an open end for this book, with the aim that the young shepherd finds the treasure in part two of the book? The answer to these questions is that the author’s intention is neither to develop suspense for the reader so he could be entertained, nor to make the reader himself searches for the treasure in another......

...Term Papers COMPARING APA FORMAT IN A RESEARCH/LAB REPORT AND A TERM PAPER? WHAT IS THE SAME? * Margins (one inch) * Rules regarding quotations (long and short) * Rules for citations * Rules for references * Rules for page numbers * Rules for title page WHAT IS DIFFERENT?
Parts * In a lab/research report, you test people/animals to collect data. You then statistically analyze that data and draw conclusions. Because you must report all these activities, a lab/research report must have a Methods, Results and Discussion section. * Term papers are usually about other people's research. Since you do not test people or animals yourself, you do NOT need a Methods, Results or Discussion section. Introduction * In a lab/research report, the introduction must explain what question your data will answer and how your study will help build a body of scientific knowledge. Because of this, the introduction of a lab/research report briefly describes related research by other people (that is, a literature review with citations).. * The introduction in a term paper is more like the Abstract of a lab/research report. It is an overview of the entire paper. In a term paper the literature review (with citations) is found mostly in the body of the paper.

...1. Project Definition Form 1.1 Project Title Biaño’s Pizzaderia Inventory Management System 1.2 Project Context On March 27, 2007, the friends and neighbors of Alberto Biaño in Cebu City were treated to the first serving of Mr. Biaño's famous pizza.  This core group became his first loyal customers, as news spread far and wide of the pizza with the great homemade taste that everyone could afford.  Inspired by the resounding success of his initial offering, Alberto Biaño continued to develop his recipes to improve his pizzas' quality and taste until a perfect blend of crispy dough and aromatic sauce was achieved for everyone to enjoy. Another innovation was the concept of the “pizzaderia”, which  combined the words “pizza” and “carenderia”, to describe the little streetside eateries where Biaño’’s delicious but affordable pizzas were enjoyed by  people from all walks of life. Whether for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and get-togethers, everyone wanted to make a Biaño’s pizza part of their special treat. From that little pizzaderia in Mabolo, Mr. Biaño soon branched out to Capitol, Tabunok, USC Main, Mandaue and Mactan, making Biaño's pizza a truly well-loved snack in Cebu.  Realizing the potential for such great value in an affordable price, many franchisers from different places all over the country such as Cagayan de Oro, Oroquieta City, Butuan soon became part of the Biaño's Pizzaderia family 1.3 Statement of the Problem As of now, Biano’s Pizzaderia only...

...Final Project: Persuasive Research Paper Nycole Chatman COM/220 October 28, 2012 Debbi Kutner Reducing Recidivism in today’s Society Final Project: Persuasive Research Paper Reducing Recidivism in today’s Society Education and job skills are key elements to reducing recidivism therefore; prisons, county jails, and the probation offices should adopt mandatory programs so ex-offenders can become productive members of society. Every year approximately 9 million people are released from prison in the U.S. (Center, T. N.-e., 2012) and due to lack of education and job skills, 52% of those 9 million returns within three years. According to Yamatani & Spjeldnes (2011), “The United States represents only 5 percent of the world’s population, but we hold 25 percent of the world's inmates in our prisons and jails (Pew Center on the States, 2008). We have more people behind bars in total numbers and per capita than any other industrialized country--2.3 million out of nearly 300 million (750 per 100,000 residents)--one out of 100 U.S.” This essay will show the difference between recidivism and rehabilitation as well as showing how education and job training can effectively reduce the rate of recidivism in the U.S. What is recidivism you ask? The Merriam-Webster defines recidivism as a tendency to relapse into a previous condition or mode of behavior (Merriam-Webster Dictionary,......

Hollister Final Term Paper

...M. W. Long Short Term Paper Hollister & Co. A200 For this assigned paper I chose to write about Hollister Co. Hollister Co., or HCO, is a California-based apparel company and subsidiary of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. established in July of 2000. I selected Hollister Co. for my report because ever since getting a job for the company in January of 2002, I have always been interested in how they have been successful with their exceedingly high level of theft (both by customers and by employees, which is often called “shrinkage”). Hollister Co.’s competitive strategy is comprised of the in-store atmosphere that sets the “surfer mood”, or relaxed mood, for customers to feel like they are in a little slice of paradise. It is also comprised of training their associates to treat customers like close friends (speaking in a friendly manner and even sparking conversations) in order to make the customer feel more welcomed, in turn making them more willing to spend money on clothes that will make them more like the friendly, good-looking, southern California-looking associates. Although I am not certain of it, I am almost positive that Hollister Co. uses a Just-In-Time (JIT) approach to inventory management. I am so sure of this because when working in the stockroom at a Hollister Co. store, I was taught to use a scanner. Before taking any clothes out on to the floor, I would scan their price tag, which would then send a message to headquarters saying that I was......

...was on your plate yesterday might contain a dangerous chemical called Arsenic? Now as some of you may already be aware, Arsenic is also used in rat poison. It is known to cause cancer. And what about sports drink that you drank today? Did you know it might contain a substance called Brominated Vegetable Oil? Another dangerous substance linked to thyroid issues, such as hypothyroidism, autoimmune disease, and cancer. Maybe some of you already know all this, but I dare bet that most people are totally unaware of this. The reason why so many people are still unaware is because of the improper way of labelling. We all have look at the back of a packaging and found ingredients such as “Spices” or “Flavouring”. Food industries use these terms to name certain dangerous chemicals and in a way disguise them so they will appear less harmful, but what they are actually doing is selling us a lie. Despite all this going on, the Food and Drug Administration, better known as the FDA, has not taken any actions against this form of deception. Yet the FDA claims their duty is to protect our health and promote healthy products. The reason these substances are allowed is cause they help us or the company to save a lot of money ( by making them more attractive or increasing shelf-life). Yet, we might actually save a lot more money if we just prevent the usage of these substances, as we could lower the medical bills by preventing illness from happening instead of curing. “Don't judge the...

...PM587 TEAM INSIGHT PAPER By I. xxxxx Instructor: Professor x x xxxxx Our group consisted of x xxxxx, x xxxxx, x xxxx and myself. Our task, as team members, involved the application of the tools and techniques of multi-project/program management. As part of the process, we were to deal with the analysis and establishment of project management systems based on the structure of the project and organization. We were also expected to expend some effort to observe and analyze our own team’s group process and group dynamics, and within that scope address such areas as team member roles and responsibilities, delegation, decision making, leadership, conflict resolution, etc. The Team Paper was to be approached in two parts: Part I presented us with the challenge of designing a Portfolio Management process by which our Strategic Business Unit (SBU) would make decisions on what projects would fit into its current portfolio. Part II followed with the inclusion of an important new project bringing a twist to the existing portfolio process. Using the portfolio management process we had proposed, we were to determine whether to proceed with the additional project as well identify the impact on the rest of the program. At the first meeting, just the two of us in attendance, we decided on xxxx xxxxx – a family owned xxxx ” store” – founded in 19xx. Having the project split into parts for submission could have helped to prioritize our work......

...Theory I have chosen chaos and complexity theory to discuss and evaluate for this project. Under chaos and complexity theory, organizational structures served to create boundaries between everything and prescribed who did what. The organization treated people like machines, assigning them specific roles, duties, and responsibilities while ignoring their other abilities, emotions, or beliefs. The interview summary will display the company as chaotic but a self-organization entity. Beneath all structures and behaviors resides the real creator – dynamic processes. Confusion is part of a much deeper process of organization. It is in this confusion that individuals move into a place of not knowing, and they stay there for a while. How do we describe these theories in terms that anyone can understand? How do we visually or metaphorically show that one small change has an effect on all other areas? Picture standing in the middle of Grand Central Station at the peak of rush hour (morning or evening), We all have seen chaos and turmoil in certain circumstances in our lives and that is the adaptability and change in this visual metaphor.
