Set Your Goals

Know specifically what you’re looking to achieve with your campaign. Is it a specific number of leads per month? Do you want phone calls, newsletter signups, or sales on your site? Is there a certain cost per conversion you want to achieve?

Understand your goals first because they’ll affect how you set up and manage your campaign.

Do Your Research

1. Use keyword tools to find the most relevant keywords people are typing into the search engines to find your product/service/company. Plan to spend at least a few hours on this…it’s the foundation of your campaign.

2. Study the companies bidding on these keywords in AdWords. See who consistently is ranking at or near the top of the rankings (you can use a spy tool like iSpionage to help). Note their ad copy and offers. Visit their websites. Sign up for their mailing lists. Purchase their products.

3. Where are customers buying and reviewing products/services/businesses like yours online? Read their reviews. What do they love/hate about your competition? What are the deep needs/desires they’re looking to fulfill? What emotions are they expressing? While researching them, look for great quotes you can use for ad copy.

Landing Page/Offer

An irresistible offer on your landing page will overcome a lot of other deficiencies in your AdWords campaign. During your research you saw exactly what all your top competitors are offering. How can you offer something unique/different/better?

Use Exact Keywords

When first starting out with AdWords, keep your keyword list very small (5 – 10 keywords) and very focused (the ones people ready to buy are most likely typing into Google). Add all these keywords to your campaign as Exact Match…...

...Both Google and eBay started out engaging strictly in e-commerce, and then expanded their operations to include a physical presence. Both companies are building a physical presence in an attempt to mitigate some of the problems facing the players in the e-commerce sector. These two companies are attempting to reduce brand confusion among customers, and are trying to provide additional points of purchase in an attempt to boost impulse buys, spread awareness about product capabilities, and create hype. In September 2011, Google opened its first branded brick-and-mortar store called “Chromezone.” Google’s store on London’s Tottenham Court Road featured a 285 square foot department, which included Google’s new Chromebook laptops and accessories. Google has also opened a physical store in Australia called Androidland for Android Market. Androidland features displays and games that help shoppers learn about Android phones and tablets. It is a physical location for customers to learn more about Google’s products and software. ...shaping the search industry? Rivalries among competitors – the rivalries of Google are Bing, AOL, Microsoft, and Yahoo. Most of the market share is own by Google. All competitors have similar products and services. Competition is based on non-price factors such as marketing, brand, and search technology. Also, because the industry is relatively new, there is a good growth in opportunities for advertising. Threat of new entrants – as what I have said, the entry barrier is low, because everyone has an access to technology. Because the barrier is low, new entries are capable in offering more rapidly search results then other competitors. But by entering this industry, it will be hard for new competitors to compete with reputable companies like Google and Yahoo because they have partners in advertising and different websites. Threat of new substitute products – the threat of substitute products is very low, since people would not opt in reading dictionaries, encyclopedia, or other documents, rather than searching the internet which is more convenient and time saving. Bargaining power of suppliers - Google's primary suppliers are those who provide servers, power, and human capital. These supplies are not hard to find, especially given the trend in technology; many suppliers can provide these supplies, so bargaining power is in the side of Google. Bargaining power of buyers – the buyers of Google search engine are mostly advertising company who wanted their products and......

...1) In 2013 Google was the leading Internet search firm. Google owned 67 percent market share in search from home and work computers and a 97 percent share of searches performed by mobile devices. The two main competitors for Google in the search engine industry for market share is Microsoft Corporation’s Bing and Yahoo Inc.’s search. (Blystone, 2015). Google is well known and a leader in the search engine industry that the company became a verb. When people search for something on the Internet such as for a recipe they say, “ I goggled the recipe” (Blystone, 2015). The competition in the search engine industry for Google does come from the two related search engines yahoo search and Bing. However, the major competition in the search engine industry stems from searches with in websites and apps that offer more than just searches, such as Amazon, Inc. and Facebook, Inc. For example, Facebook Inc.’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg articulated that the company’s assets could be used to compete with search engines. Facebook Inc. can compete with search engines by the website uniquely being positioned to answer questions people may have such as, what sushi restaurants my friends have been to recently and liked? These query-based searches that can be done on Facebook potentially offer consumer something they could not do anywhere else (Blystone, 2015). Howards Cameras: Adwords

...Howard’s Cameras: AdWords Proposal Aadi James Howard’s Cameras is a small chain of camera stores that are located in central Ohio. These stores sell everything camera and camera-related including the major brands of digital cameras for consumers, and a few leading high-end brands for professional photographers. The stores also offer photo finishing, portrait services, accessories, scrapbook supplies, and other items of interest to casual and photo enthusiasts. One of the best ways to drive traffic to Howard’s Cameras stores and its e-commerce store is through the Google AdWords program. AdWords, at its simplest, is a system of keywords that are used to generate ads for a fee. If one searches for 12MP cameras, Howard’s Camera could purchase that term and the consumer would see an ad that would say “Howard’s Cameras: now selling all 12MP cameras for less!”. Each time a consumer clicks our ad, the store would be charged a fee that we choose, called the cost-per-click (CPC). The higher the fee, the more often the ad gets shown and the more likely it is clicked, whereas a lower fee would mean a less prominent placement and a lower click-through rate (CTR). AdSense is the associated program that Google uses to provide ads for websites with content, like news organizations, blogs, and other media. AdSense uses Adwords to figure out which ads should show with a selected story, such as a story about cats needing adoption might show ads for local humane societies and rescue......

...Company Overview In the beginning, Google was nothing more than a research project developed by two Stanford graduate students. In 1996, Sergey Brin and Larry Page had developed a search engine with a unique method of ranking search results. As the need for a relevant search engine on the internet became clearer and clearer, Brin and Page registered the Google.com domain in 1997 and officially formed Google, Inc. on September 7, 1998. Google had an advantage over other search engines at the time because their search results were ranked in a relevant manner; based on the number of sites linking to each specific page. Because of the high quality search results and their simple approach to searching, Google’s popularity has grown substantially over time. Along with their growth in popularity, Google has grown to employ more than 10,000 people worldwide, while also being ranked as the best company to work for by Fortune Magazine. The term ‘google’ was derived from a misspelling of the word ‘googol,’ which refers to 10100, and the name stuck. Also, due to the popularity of the world ‘google,’ Merriam-Webster added the term to their dictionary defining google as “to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet.” As ‘googling’ things became more commonplace, Google’s revenues grew tremendously through the use of advertisements. Although Google’s advertising revenues have risen every year in the past five years, Google went public on August 19,......
