GOOGLE CLOUD PRINTING By: Reem Raza 2014D042 * Introduction :

Google cloud print is an exciting new technology that allows any application on any device to print to any connected printer, anytime and anywhere in a simple manner. If this fascinating product had been in the market 10 years back it would for sure have turned out to be revolutionary.

* FEATURES:

Generally, when one has to print a document or a file through his friends’ printer, he would either have to e-mail it to himself or install drivers compatible with their printer but Google Cloud Printer overcomes this issue along with many others: * Using GCP, home and work printers can be made available to you and anyone you choose, from the applications used in daily life. For instance, if I am in a coffee shop and my friend sent me important notes via email, I could easily print it through my home printer.

* It works on multiple platforms i.e. it works on your phone, tablet, PC, and any other device you want to print from. The only required feature is a web connection, printer and a Google account.

* Since GCP works over the web, one can easily print from the same room as their printer or in the other way round.

* GCP also works with non-clouded printer aswell which is most commonly used these days.It provides access to over 1000 printers spread across .

* From the Google Cloud Print management page, it only takes a single click to share printers that you own with trusted individuals. You can also track print jobs on your shared printers, and modify or revoke sharing rights at any time.

* DISADVANTAGES OF GCP:

* Security is always a concern. Users might not be comfortable sending data to a third-party. Companies are concerned about keeping their sensitive data on a cloud server that others may be able to hack into.

* If the internet connection is unavailable, so is your cloud printing.

* Cost may be a disadvantage. Make sure that the cloud application you choose has all the features that you need.

* Compatibility. Make sure that your vendors apps support your documents

* WHY GOOGLE CLOUD PRINT?

As we’ve moved towards ever more powerful cloud-based applications and web-connected mobile devices, we’ve come to expect the same capabilities from them that we’ve taken for granted on our PCs. For many, printing is near the top of that list.

It can be concluded saying that, Google Cloud Print is undoubtedly the most effective application when it comes to printing, as it not only provides us with a diversity of features but it also makes the whole printing experience easy, convenient and safe.…...

Cloud Computing

...Cloud computing has transformed businesses worldwide and forced them to keep up with the fast-past changing of Internet Technologies. Cloud computing is a newer means of technology that allows users and businesses to store and forward information in a network. Large corporations are now using cloud computing as their key business structure. Users can connect to the cloud and store data, but they will be issued a fee for how much data they can store. The users can then retrieve the data from their laptop or smartphone. In a few years, cloud computing will be a primary storage service for many users. John Rhoton, a technology and business strategy consultant, defines cloud computing as a pool of virtual resources that are easily usable and accessible.i Rhoton mentions these resources are made up of hardware devices, information system platforms, and networking services.ii The cloud is built to be virtually unacknowledged by the user and perform in the simplest way. They are built using complex methods that are hidden from the user. Companies base their projects around simplicity because that is what the user wants. A user will buy a product or service that is easy to learn, compared to an abstract service that will take a lot of time and effort to use. A cloud network is very complex and misleading in terms of the infrastructure; however, the user can access the cloud by simply logging into the host from a webpage or a phone application. Generally, cloud services are...

...What is The Cloud? Heather INF103 May 10, 2012 What is the Cloud? ………………………………………………………………………… Examples of these applications are Gmail, Google Docs, and Facebook. You are using the cloud anytime you store information, pictures, or music anywhere on the web. Cloud computing is taking a lot of computers and putting them together into a pool of resources. It is a key way companies are streamlining their operations. Cloud computing is still early in its development Collaborating to Compete (2010). The cloud is a less expensive, less time consuming, and more user-friendly way to store data, store software and collaborate. Cloud technology is stream-lining the way we use computers and the internet. Techs biggest names are offering cloud services and new companies are starting every day. To fully understand all that the cloud offers, let’s take a look back and see how information was stored, software was consumed, and teams collaborated. Data storage has moved from file cabinets, to mainframes, to PCs, now to servers, and increasingly these servers are in the cloud. -Paul Otellini CEO of Intel Collaborating to Complete (2010). Paper files we kept in a filing cabinet. Then computers came along and data entry clerks began storing records on a mainframe. Then desktops had more memory so we used it. To make the memory on the desktops last longer we stored information on floppy disks then compact disks. Administrative assistants would be charged with organizing these......

...Cloud Computing: A Taxonomy of Platform and Infrastructure-level Offerings David Hilley College of Computing Georgia Institute of Technology April 2009 Cloud Computing: A Taxonomy of Platform and Infrastructure-level Offerings David Hilley 1 Introduction Cloud computing is a buzzword and umbrella term applied to several nascent trends in the turbulent landscape of information technology. Computing in the “cloud” alludes to ubiquitous and inexhaustible on-demand IT resources accessible through the Internet. Practically every new Internet-based service from Gmail [1] to Amazon Web Services [2] to Microsoft Online Services [3] to even Facebook [4] have been labeled “cloud” offerings, either officially or externally. Although cloud computing has garnered significant interest, factors such as unclear terminology, non-existent product “paper launches”, and opportunistic marketing have led to a significant lack of clarity surrounding discussions of cloud computing technology and products. The need for clarity is well-recognized within the industry [5] and by industry observers [6]. Perhaps more importantly, due to the relative infancy of the industry, currently-available product offerings are not standardized. Neither providers nor potential consumers really know what a “good” cloud computing product offering should look like and what classes of products are appropriate. Consequently, products are not easily comparable. The scope of various product offerings differ and......

...Group: 5 Cloud Computing: Risk Management Introduction The objective if this research report is to help clients make the tough decision in choosing between Amazon and Google as their companies cloud computing provider. We provide a detailed explanation of cloud and why we focused on Amazon and Google. In helping our clients make their decision we will compare and contrast the two providers using three components. The first component is to examine each providers risk based on preventable risk, strategic risk, and the external risk. From here the report moves into the security measures that the companies have in place to deal with the aforementioned risk. The final component used is the benefits that Google and Amazon can offer our clients by using their service. Background This research report will compare the risks of cloud computing, security measures in place, and the benefits associated with cloud computing technology. More specifically, our report will focus on two of the most important companies in cloud computing—Google and Amazon. While conducting introductory research our team realized that cloud computing risk management is too broad of a topic and the report would be un-useful for our clients. The team decided that the best way to help clients would be to do a comparison of the two companies and show why one provider would be better than the other. In choosing companies we decided to examine Amazon which is the number one most important company in cloud......

...Google is probably the most popular search engine used these days. However, are you familiar with the personal data Google collects about people? According to Google’s privacy policy, they collect user data, like personal information that users give them, sign up information, such as, name, email address, telephone number and credit card information, as well as information about the devices that are used to log onto their systems. They also collect information about the services used and how they’re used, as well as IP addresses, and events of use like system errors. Google may also ask you to generate a publicly visible profile which may include your name and photo. However, according to Ian Paul, of PC World Magazine, it is not that simple, Google has our day to day habits, by having access to our calendars, as well as our locations and voices. I’m sure after reading the information above, you were unaware such detailed information was being collected. Well one positive note, Google freely admits, they gather this plethora of information, how they gather it, and how they will use it. Google also satisfies our worries, insuring this information is secure. Google states “we work hard to protect Google and our users from unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of information we hold” (Policy). According to Dan Rowinski, of Read Write, “Google has one of the largest and most secure clouds in the entire industry” (Rowinski). So how does......

...2014 GOOGLE Inc. Team 7 3/6/2014 1. In order to identify capacity constraints and better allocate resources companies, Google adopted 70/20/10 model. Google’s aim is to ‘organize the world’s information’. Though all the projects had one aim, they were classified according to their contribution to the core business. This map clearly distinguished the projects as needed. Derivative projects are the ones’ that involve incremental changes in core products and services. These are allocated with 70% of the Google’s resources. Platform projects comprised of extension to core business. And these were allocated 20% of the resources. Breakthrough projects are the ones that are based on fundamentally new businesses. These are allocated 10% of the total resources. These fostered innovation within the company. 2. Technology Stand Alone Value Google’s standalone value includes products like Google Search, advertising, Browser, Cloud based apps, Mobile Operating System and mobile devices. The need of search engine grew with expansion of World Wide Web. Although other search engines existed, however the results on those platforms could easily be skewed. Larry Page and Sergey Bin came up with a new algorithm to counter those problems. “The perfect search engine” says Larry Page “would understand exactly what you mean and give back exactly what you want”. This proved true hence rated high in customer productivity. Their home page interface is clear and simple, and pages load......

...Excellence >>Google In 1998, two Stanford University PhD students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founded a search engine company and named it Google. The name plays on the number googol1 followed by 100 zeroes-and refers to the massive quantity of data available online that the company helps users find. Google's corporate mission is "To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." From the beginning, Google has strived to be one of the "good guys" in the corporate world, supporting a touchyfeely work environment, strong ethics, and a famous founding credo: "Don't be evil." The company has become the market leader for search engines through its business focus and constant innovation. As Google grew into a primary destination for Web users searching for information online, it attracted a host of online advertisers. These advertisers drove Google's revenue by buying "search ads," little text-based boxes shown alongside search results that adveftisers pay for only when users click on them. Google's search ad program, called AdWords, sells space on its search pages to ads linked with specific keywords. Google auctions off the keyword ads, with prime keywords and page locations going to the highest bidder. Google recently added market share in the United States. Swooshes abound on everything from wristwatches to skateboards to swim- ming caps. The firm's long-term strategy focuses on basketball, running, football,......

...1) In 2013 Google was the leading Internet search firm. Google owned 67 percent market share in search from home and work computers and a 97 percent share of searches performed by mobile devices. The two main competitors for Google in the search engine industry for market share is Microsoft Corporation’s Bing and Yahoo Inc.’s search. (Blystone, 2015). Google is well known and a leader in the search engine industry that the company became a verb. When people search for something on the Internet such as for a recipe they say, “ I goggled the recipe” (Blystone, 2015). The competition in the search engine industry for Google does come from the two related search engines yahoo search and Bing. However, the major competition in the search engine industry stems from searches with in websites and apps that offer more than just searches, such as Amazon, Inc. and Facebook, Inc. For example, Facebook Inc.’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg articulated that the company’s assets could be used to compete with search engines. Facebook Inc. can compete with search engines by the website uniquely being positioned to answer questions people may have such as, what sushi restaurants my friends have been to recently and liked? These query-based searches that can be done on Facebook potentially offer consumer something they could not do anywhere else (Blystone, 2015). Apple Inc. also created feature and operating system on their iPhone, iWatches, and Apple TV Siri that acts as a virtual personal assistant.......
