...What Drives Us? What is drive and why is it important? It is the ambition and will of an individual to commit an act. We are driven by what motivates us and success is measured in many ways. Goals can be a part of this process, but are not always necessary. The most common motivator is reward, such as money; however it is not the only one. People are also driven by emotion and power. Without motivation, our society would not be as prosperous as it is today. Money, power, and emotion are the most prevalent things that compel us to wake up and do what we do each and every day. Our ability to earn money plays a large part in how we fit into society. Those that lack education and the ambition to learn generally find themselves the poorest while those that seek knowledge and want to better their lives usually hold wealth and power. Sometimes blind luck or chance can affect how we live. Winning the lottery or inventing something useful can change your life in many ways. They say you can’t buy happiness, but I would sure like to give it a try. The bottom line is having too much money is preferable to not having enough. Acting according to the law is a choice we all have to make. People who commit horrific crimes are driven, but not necessarily by the same things as the rest of the population. Feelings of power and the adrenaline rush from committing a crime can be addictive. Criminals usually commit more severe crimes after they learn how to get away with smaller......

A video camera on the windshield near the rearview mirror finds pedestrians, bicyclists, traffic lights and obstacles in the rod and sends that data to the car's onboard computer. Radar sensors at front and back help locate more distant objects. A GPS receiver, a laser range finder and an inertial motion sensor complete the package. This unique car really drives by himself. All you need is to tell the place where you going and it will deliver you there safer, environmentally and economically better than the regular driver with the car. 2. ...Western international university | Google’s Zero-Carbon Quest | MGT452 Managerial Communications | Professor Arlene Supple | Michele Bezduch | 7/18/2012 | Google’s drive to become a zero-carbon company focusing on the use of renewable and sustainable energy. The search giant has an ambitious plan to achieve its goal: becoming the world’s most enery-efficient company (Dumaine, 2012). | Each day our culture ventures deeper into a more technologically advanced society, becoming increasingly dependent upon computer systems, smart phones, and other data transfer devices. Technological forward progress requires the servers and network infrastructure to be bigger, better, and faster in order to support our insatiable need to communicate with each other. As a result, greenhouse gas emissions rise contributing to an already problematic circumstance regarding clean air, climate change, and global warming. Google CEO and co-founder Larry Page has taken action to suppress the amount of pollutants generated by his organization. According to a Fortune Magazine article entitled Google’s Zero Carbon Quest, Mr. Page’s vision is to transform Google into a company that emits zero greenhouse gas; a difficult endeavor considering Google annually emits 1.5 million tons of carbon. His operating principle was to become part of the solution instead of part of the problem by achieving the formula RE<C, which equates to renewable energy, is cheaper than coal (Dumaine, 2012). ...

...Google Google is a great innovative technology company that has changed on how we use the internet. Google is well known for being one of the best internet search engines to grace our world today. Along with that Google has been a part of the mobile technology world since the introduction of Android phones and has been the best friend for many for wanting to know something in a hurry. Naturally as the mobile demand grows Google will want to be a part of that market share. Google’s attempt to buy into the wireless spectrum was part of Google’s idea of bringing the internet to everyone everywhere. Google knew that the large key players such as AT&T and Verizon, although doing their best to provide internet access to rural areas Google could do it better because it has so much more money to invest in the research and development to succeed. The interview by Marguerite Reardon with Chris Saca, head of special initiatives for Google he explains why Google is so interested in the 700 MHz spectrum: Q: Why is Google so interested in the upcoming 700MHz auction? Sacca: The 700MHz spectrum auction represents the last big chance that the United States has to create an opportunity for meaningful change in access to the Internet for the broadest set of people possible. But why is Google, in particular, interested in this spectrum? Sacca: I think it's consistent with our company mission statement and consistent with our history of interaction with users. We have fought...

...Internet Search and the Growth of Google Case Study Review Siddarth Anney ID: 573413 Submitted on 11/21/2013 1) Analyze the competitive structure of the market for search based advertising based on porter’s five forces model. What are the implications of this industry structure for the long run profitability of players in the market? The growth for search based advertising is high and with more and more business developing rapidly the need for search based advertisement grows, which makes these search based advertising companies to innovate and provide advertisers with more number of visitors for their website. We can see from the case study “Internet Search and the Growth of Google” Google stands dominant in the market with the highest percentage of market share compared to other companies. Threat of New Entrants: According to me the entry barriers in this segment is moderate because the capital cost involved in search based advertisement is low but if customer base increases then we need to have more infrastructure to support the growing customer base. So from this we can say that the number of customers is directly proportional to the infrastructure needed. When infrastructure needs to grow operating costs increases and this becomes a barrier. The other barrier would be providing better search results and adding more features to attract customers as the existing market has already been developed. Though the entry......

...and naturally its also a little scary. Within five years Google will provide you the option to live almost your entire day through it's interface, a strategy that will tighten their hold on search while also opening up new revenue models. A device gently wakes you in the optimal sleep pattern, you run on a Google Glass enabled treadmill, a self driving car will take you to work where your spend you day using Google's business applications via Google devices, ordering food, video chatting with your family and when you get home streaming a TV show. A layer of artificial intelligence similar to Scarlett Johansson's character in Her will let this tool learn a huge amount about you and the context of your life in the world, enabling it to be extremely effective at making your life easier. If Google gets into body scrubs and scratch resistant frying pans they may just be able to close the loop. I'm sure the Google Glass apps will cover the sex part. 2: Improve the quality and reach of the internet Google's growth and the speed of its innovation is closely tied to fast and widely available internet connections. Expert them to explore all possible avenues to drive this goal. Google Fibre will continue to rollout to specific areas around the world, putting pressure on other ISPs to deliver faster, cheaper services, a strategy which they could also implement within the wireless industry, sticking to small implementations to drive customer demand but staying away from government......

Google Drive vs Dropbox

...Google Drive vs. Dropbox Inc. ENGL101-1402A-03 April 23, 2014 Google Drive vs. Dropbox Inc. Being in college or any higher learning institute is a task all in itself. It doesn’t really matter what level we're at whether it’s undergraduate or going for our masters or doctorate. Being a student of any sort usually consumes our life and most of our time. Take for example, the essay. Whether it’s for research, compare and contrast, problem and solution or your standard narrative essay, we often are utilizing various files and resources to complete our required tasks. Many of us already have jobs and families that consume our lives, and that can take away from our academic responsibilities. This can be a difficult thing to juggle, but what if you could have your files, content, personal documents, movies, and etc. everywhere and accessible all the time. I am talking about cloud storage and its limitless potential to make our lives as seamless as possible. There are two really big names in the cloud storage industry such as Google’s Drive, and Dropbox file storage but which one is for you? Both Google Drive and Dropbox make excellent choices for cloud storage, but deciding which is best depends on your lifestyle, your finances, and your preference in features. Of the many services and apps that Google provides, Drive is arguably the best service it provides, well outside of Gmail. Having a Google account automatically gives you 15GB of free cloud storage. All of Google’s......

Web-Mobile App: Google Drive

...Web or Mobile Applications- Google Drive Jonie Bonfield IT/205 Saturday, July 26, 2014 Karen Diggs Web or Mobile Applications-GOOGLE DRIVE Google.com is not only a top search engine on its own, but the majority of Google’s web applications are highly ranked as well. Google’s mission statement says a lot about what it offers- “Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” This is not surprising, as on a regular basis we can find information on how other Google web applications- Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Calendar have been groundbreaking for millions. For the sake of this assignment, Google Drive is the main subject of this paper. We can go into any office building throughout the world and find numerous technology devices and tools used to save and share information between other people and computers. These devices and tools can include USB flash drives, portable harddrives, memory sticks, data CDs, etc. However, all of these are disposable. Meaning they can be ruined, destroyed, erased, and stolen. How is that a benefit to our work environment? So say we saved an incredibly important research project on a USB drive, a couple of USB drives actually, just in case. What are our options if those USB drives were to disappear or get ruined somehow? How could, as they say, “the show go on”? Seriously, what are the options for us to present those barrier breaking research results to the......

...Overview Rewards and punishments are failing us as motivators, declares Pink. Encouraging autonomy, mastery and purpose in personal and professional settings will lead to more productive, creative, and ultimately fulfilling lives. Part One: A New Operating System Chapter 1 questions the traditional view of human motivation that rewards pushing people to perform better and work harder. Pink explains that people have operating systems--the first, Motivation 1.0, is the biological drive to survive, and the second, Motivation 2.0 (M2), is driven by extrinsic motivators. Pink then describes organizations’ limited attempts to improve M2 by fostering environments for employees to grow and gain more autonomy. Pink describes how M2 is increasingly incompatible with how we organize what we do, how we think about what we do, and how we do what we do. He describes how organizations are morphing into entities that allow for a mix of goals rather than segregated by for-profit and not-for-profit. He describes how humans think irrationally, contrary to what economists may believe. Finally, Pink describes how people need to be intrinsically motivated in order for our motivational operating system to function. In Chapter 2, Pink discusses the negative consequences of utilizing carrots and sticks, à la M2, to encourage certain actions or results. Firstly, carrots and sticks have the potential to diminish intrinsic motivation, which is driven by passion, pleasure, and interest in a......

...shaping the search industry? Rivalries among competitors – the rivalries of Google are Bing, AOL, Microsoft, and Yahoo. Most of the market share is own by Google. All competitors have similar products and services. Competition is based on non-price factors such as marketing, brand, and search technology. Also, because the industry is relatively new, there is a good growth in opportunities for advertising. Threat of new entrants – as what I have said, the entry barrier is low, because everyone has an access to technology. Because the barrier is low, new entries are capable in offering more rapidly search results then other competitors. But by entering this industry, it will be hard for new competitors to compete with reputable companies like Google and Yahoo because they have partners in advertising and different websites. Threat of new substitute products – the threat of substitute products is very low, since people would not opt in reading dictionaries, encyclopedia, or other documents, rather than searching the internet which is more convenient and time saving. Bargaining power of suppliers - Google's primary suppliers are those who provide servers, power, and human capital. These supplies are not hard to find, especially given the trend in technology; many suppliers can provide these supplies, so bargaining power is in the side of Google. Bargaining power of buyers – the buyers of Google search engine are mostly advertising company who wanted their products and......
