Optional Homework D
1. The downsides to social media that are occurring at P&G is that the people are using them for recreational use and not work use. They are not using the social media for the marketing part or any part for the company they are using it for them self to socialize with there friends and seeing what there friends are up to. Which isn’t helping the company because the company is paying them to do the job and they are not doing the job they are supposed to be doing.
2. Yes, because now they don’t know what is going on in the social media world, which could hurt there company. Social media is a big thing right now, its good for marketing and advertising the product or just your company in general. But the employees could also be fooling around with social media where you think they are getting the job done but in reality they are not they are using social media for there on use or personal use rather then to help the company out.
3. I think restricting various websites is good because your paying your employees to do the job you want it to be effective, and not be doing their own thing while working that’s not what your paying them for. I believe that only certain websites should be blocked, for special reasons, because on social media you can mind a lot about your competitors but sometimes the employees over use it and don’t actually do the job. So I think that some websites should be restricted while others should not.
4. I somewhat agree with Cintas Corp with blocking Netflix, but social media is a big marketing opportunity for companies. Also with Pandora some people work better when listening to music, but maybe instead of Pandora they can have an iPod with headphones or a radio on low in the office. Social media is sometimes okay to block, but for advertising the company or product that is important to use because a ton of people use…...

...Homework and Testing 1 Homework and Testing Assigning Homework How much is too much? As with classroom assignments, homework should never be given as busy work. It should have a purpose with a goal. And as I mentioned in the Behavioral Approach to Learning, homework should NEVER be given as punishment. The kid will associate homework with punishment. This may interest you. Harris Cooper (1998) analyzed more than 100 research studies on homework in American schools. He found that homework had a very small connection with test scores at the elementary level. If anything, the more homework an elementary school student had, the more negative their attitude was toward school. Plus it takes away from their social time, which is an important part of growing up. Kids need to learn social skills. Too much homework causes stress, as you probably know very well by now. Kids need to have down time too! Why does homework have such a small effect at the elementary level? One reason is that young children have limited attention spans and are very distractible. It is difficult to do homework in a house that has many distractions. Teachers need to work with parents and help students find a quiet space to do homework. Most professional organization in education agrees that homework should never exceed 10 - 20 minutes per day in grades K - 2. In grades 3 - 6 homework should never exceed 30 - 60 minutes per day. Another reason elementary school children do not benefit much from homework is...

Prioritizing Projects at D. D. Williamson

...Prioritizing Projects at D. D. Williamson Dianne M. Dowling Human Resource Project Management Strayer University Dr. Lila Jordan April 26, 2013 Abstract D. D. Williams was founded in 1865 and today is a global leader of non-artificial coloring. They operate in nine (9) facilities in six (6) countries and supplies many of the best-know food and beverage companies. Though time has brought about many changes, the organization finally realized what needed to transpire in order to bring their mission and vision into becoming the outstanding company they are today. With strategic planning and prioritizing, D. D. Williamson has learned what it takes to be successful and what brings positive results (Kloppenborg, Nkomo, Fottler& McAfee, 2012). Prioritizing Projects at D. D. Williamson Prioritizing is the process of translating strategic objectives into operational priorities. It involves deciding which projects or types of projects to do and which not to do. Through prioritizing agencies direct resources, time and energy to projects that are deemed more important and lucrative in achieving the objective of the organization success (Mintzberg, 1994). Strategic planning is an organizational activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations and ensures that employees and other shareholders are working toward common goals. It is a disciplined effort that produces decisions and actions that......

D&D History

...Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D[2] or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, and first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). The game has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997. It was derived from miniature wargames with a variation of the Chainmail game serving as the initial rule system.[3] D&D's publication is widely regarded as the beginning of modern role-playing games and the role-playing game industry.[4] D&D departs from traditional wargaming and assigns each player a specific character to play instead of a military formation. These characters embark upon imaginary adventures within a fantasy setting. A Dungeon Master serves as the game's referee and storyteller, while also maintaining the setting in which the adventures occur and playing the role of the inhabitants. The characters form a party that interacts with the setting's inhabitants (and each other). Together they solve dilemmas, engage in battles and gather treasure and knowledge.[4] In the process the characters earn experience points to become increasingly powerful over a series of sessions. The early success of Dungeons & Dragons led to a proliferation of similar game systems. Despite this competition, D&D remains the market leader in the role-playing game industry.[5] In 1977, the game was split into two branches: the relatively rules-light game system of Dungeons &......

Vitamin D

...Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble secosteriods responsible for enhancing intestinal absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphate and zinc. Vitamin D plays a vital role in bone metabolism and seems to have some anti-inflammatory and Immune-modulating properties. In addition, recent epidemiologic studies have observed relationships between low vitamin D levels and multiple diseases, as well as the need for vitamin D supplementation in breastfed infants and the elderly. Vitamin D is a hormone precursor that is present in 2 forms. Ergocalciferol, or vitamin D2 is present in some plants and fish. Cholecalciferol, vitamin D3 is synthesized in the skin by sunlight. Humans can fulfill their vitamin D requirements by either ingesting vitamin D or being exposed to the sun for enough time to produce adequate amounts. One major reason why vitamin D is important for good overall health is the belief that it is a determinate in mortality because of its anti-inflammatory and Immune-modulating effects. It has been used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in people with dialysis and retrospective trials show that vitamin D supplementation is associated with decreased mortality in people on dialysis. Low serum vitamin D levels are also related to increased mortality in most patients with chronic kidney disease before dialysis. In patients not on dialysis, low vitamin D levels are associated with increased levels of inflammation and oxidative loads. A positive......

Prioritizing Projects at D. D. Williamson

...Prioritizing Projects at D. D. Williamson Critique the prioritizing process D. D. Williamson. D. D. Williamson is a small privately held company. Founded in 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky, D. D. Williamson has become a global leader in non-artificial colors (Kloppenberg & Nkomo, 2012). The company has grown to nine operating facilities in six countries and supplying many food and beverage companies around the world. D. D. Williamson had too many projects that were all deemed important. Even though the project was ongoing, some projects were late, over budget, and not achieving the predicted results (Kloppenberg & Nkomo, 2012). With so many active and important projects, the company decided to implement a prioritization matrix. The prioritization matrix was an excellent way to prioritize the company’s projects and improve the budget and on-time rates. As of 2009, the company made more changes to their prioritization process. They decided to choose no more than five “Vision Impact Projects” that would get high-level focus and attention (Kloppenberg & Nkomo, 2012). Projects are now receiving more in depth attention. Suggest at least one recommendation to improve the prioritizing process. Although D. D. Williamson has an effective prioritizing process, any method can be improved. The first thing D. D. Williams can do to improve the prioritizing process. Knowing that whatever process that is done the greatest impact will be on the stakeholder......
