Assume you have to prepare older employees with little computer experience to attend a training course on how to use the World Wide Web. How will you ensure that they have high levels of readiness for training? How will you determine their readiness for training?

I would try to have pre class meetings with no more than three of them at a time and begin with a computer that is not turned on and take them through step by step. I would go slowly, and ensure they have time to write things down completely. It has been my experience that different people will have difficulties in different places. This is why I want to see them in small groups. They will be able to assist each other during the training. I would plan on no more than an hour per group and would use their personal interests to help them see that exploring the World Wide Web can be fun rather than intimidating. My experience in this area has shown it is not about capability as much as it is overcoming intimidation. Therefore my goal would not be to train them in how to use the world wide web (this is what th training class is for) so much as to give them the confidence in their capabilities of learning what the training was offering.

Response 2
I would perform an assessment of each team member's level of computer knowledge and preferred method of learning, i.e., reading material, working hands on, use of visual aids, etc. Prior to the class, I would give materials to each team member along with a workbook which will assist me with determination of areas for improvement. A hands on test related to computer use would be administered, that contains simple tasks to get to specified sites would be given. Once the test are graded, I will prepare the appropriate materials, divide the team members into groups and allot a time so that I am able to work with the groups on the necessary…...

... Social Psychology’s Effects on Attraction Joshua Newton PSY 326 Dr. Cindi-Marie Willoughby How and what attracts us to others is interpersonal attraction. As a military student, I am continuously judging individuals when I initially meet them because I am constantly evaluating my placement in society. What initiated my interest to research social attraction was my weakness for the opposite sex. I was and still am inquisitive as to what draws me to all women and towards certain type of the opposite sex. Originally, I thought I was attracted only to women from a physical appeal in an initial meeting, but I found there is more to the question. Even though physicality is a considerable amount of interpersonal attraction, studies have proved there are numerous factors determining roles in attraction on initial engagements. Among the most reflective opinions I found, essentially the first interactions are proximity, similarity, and physicality. It is our acceptable appetite as humans to determine whom we are drawn to, even as infants. After further study from psychologists, I collected data elucidating what dictates interpersonal attraction for an assortment of people and its connotation in everyday life. We are continuously meeting new people, seeing new faces, and deciding whether we experience attractions to individuals deliberately or not. As a result, the first acquaintance of others is most significance in the......

...management (HRM) has frequently been described as a concept with two distinct forms: soft and hard. These are diametrically opposed along a number of dimensions, and they have been used by many commentators as devices to categorize approaches to managing people according to developmental- humanist or utilitarian-instrumentalist principles (Legge, 1995b). The terms have gained some currency although, from a theoretical point of view, the underlying conflicts and tensions contained within the models have not been sufficiently explored and, from a practical perspective, available empirical evidence would suggest that neither model accurately represents what is happening within organizations (Storey, 1992; Wood, 1995). This leads us to question the value of these dimensions for defining normative forms of HRM. In this paper, we analyse the conflicts and tensions both between and within the soft and hard models,. CONFLICTS AND TENSIONS BETWEEN SOFT AND HARD MODELS OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT The soft-hard dichotomy in HRM exists primarily within normative models of human resource management, rather than in what Legge (1995b) terms the descriptive-functional or critical-evaluative traditions. The earliest examples where this terminology is used are in the work of Guest (1987) and Storey (1987, 1992). Guest (1987), in seeking to define HRM, identifies two dimensions, soft-hard and loose-tight. Similarly, Storey (1992) plots existing interpretations of HRM......

...When determining an employee’s compensation package, what is more important: work experience or education? Provide an example that supports your choice and a rationale that validates your position. This question is almost as important to figure out as which came first the chicken or the egg. Of course there is a debate about both, LOL. But I feel that they are both vital to the overall work performance of the individual. And this would be different for each company and situation. Some organizations that have very specific qualifications, licensing, etc have a set education requirement they need to meet. For example, a RN for a specific shift at the hospital the education requirement could be met; however the experience might not be met, so a lower employee compensation package could be offered. Or the RN might choose to work per diem to obtain experience. I tend to feel that a few years ago, like in the 1980’s and prior not all people went on to college for a degree. They might have went on for a specialized career, but many people graduated high school and joined the workforce. However, now with the limited amount of jobs available employers are looking for the person that has it all. The education and the experience, choosing the best overall qualified person is now the norm. Another way an employer could choose to go with a new hire is have a probation period. Some organization use this time to evaluate the employee to see if they meet the......

Hrm/326 Employee Development

...HRM/326 Employee Development Training is an important aspect of all organizations. Although an individual brings to the organization a specific set of skills and knowledge, it is important that these individuals be consistently developed to ensure growth of the employee and the organization. A method to ensure that training programs are successful and are meeting objectives is to conduct assessments. Assessments can help managers and the organization better understand their employees and who can be developed. In addition, it is a way to find out who cannot be developed and may no longer fit with the organization. Importance of Assessments Assessments are important to employee development because they measure the employees’ job performance. There are assessments that can measure production-oriented work and there are assessments that will allow an employer to know how well an employee is performing and the quality of work they are turning out. The assessment will also let you determine whether or not the employee obtains the skills needed to perform the job. The assessment will help the company identify the strengths and weaknesses of their workforce individually and as a team. The training and development needs can also be identified through the implementation of employee assessment. “Development helps build upon employee aptitude and current performance” (Mayhew, 2013, ). Through the use of assessments you can determine which of the current development......

In my case, I work for a company that was recently formed in 2010 and they are working towards establishing firm corporate values. Include resources from the text or outside sources to support your points and follow APA guidelines as appropriate. Each response should be approximately 200 words. Each essay response is worth 25 points. 1. Imagine you are the HR Director for Clothes-R-Us, a medium-sized clothing store with locations in five states. You know that customer service is a key element in the success of store, and headquarters is concerned that sales associates don’t have the right skills to help ensure repeat business. You think a more robust training program would help resolve the issue. Name and describe the steps you would take to conduct a needs analysis to determine the training program that would be necessary. According to Carl Greenberg (2013), a good needs analysis will train the right people by using proper teaching methods. Our first step will be to determine what the desired outcomes are to be. In our industry we understand that no matter how good our sales staff is and how good the product is, there will always be problems with our customer base which need to be addressed. The second step will be to connect this desired outcome to both the current behavior and the desired behavior of our employees with regard to customer complaints. Next we will look at what part of attaining this goal can actually be trained. Some employees may require practice on the...

...Running head: FINAL EXAM Final Exam HRM 326 Final Exam Contents of Interest The legal aspects of training have been an area of particular interest. The most interesting aspect was company liability. One common ground for not adhering to legal requirements such as OSHA, EEO, and Sexual Harassment was the likelihood of the company entering in the courtroom. When organizations fail to meet legal requirements they can be held accountable or partially responsible for any injury or illness that an employee, customer, or person within the organization at the time of the event may have suffered. Failure to meet legal requirements place organizations at greater risks for ruined reputations, loss in financial resources, high turnovers, low productivity, and so forth. Some of the information was reinforced such as Equity with EEO and Affirmative Action as well as OSHA and Sexual Harassment. Other areas such as the extent to which a company can be held liable for failure to meet legal requirements in the various areas is new information. In Sexual Harassment a special note was made to the liability a company may face for failure to identify, respond, or cease sexual harassment cases before they become too severe to correct. Ignoring the cases does not give the organization the benefit of a doubt but makes them......
