Food Intake

...Food Intake Debra Scott April 18, 2013 Food Intake Which foods in your recorded daily intake provide protein? Which provide carbohydrates? Which provide liquids? The foods that provide protein in my 3 day intake are eggs, chicken and turkey. There were some foods that provided carbs also. Those foods were sweet potato, fried chicken and rice. Lipids constitute a broad group of naturally occurring molecules that include, fats, waxes, sterols, and fat-soluble vitamins (such as vitamins A, D, E, and K. I didn’t know what lipids were at first, but most people think of lipids negatively because they associate them with fats. Although come lipids are classified as fats, lipids are not bad. The food that contained lipids on one of my intake days were eggs. Other foods that contain lipids are poultry foods, such as beef, fish and cheeses. Review how you recorded protein, carbs, and lipid intake compares with recommendations of the DRI. If your recorded protein-carbohydrate-fat intake was too high or too low, which foods might you add or remove to achieve your goal and keep other nutrients in balance? My protein on this 3 day intake is an average of 125g, and the recommendation on my DRI says that it should be at 69-242g. My carbs on this 3 day intake is an average of 90g, and my DRI says that it should be at 311-450g, so this means my carbs are lower than should. I would add more good carbs to my diet and more...

...Food Intake-3 Days As I was taking notes of my food intake for the past three days I have realized many things about myself. I thought I was eating certain foods very often and limiting myself of many other things yet when I see everything labeled in its correct food category I have found to be very shocked. As I review my food intake for my three days I see that I have consumed the right amount of carbohydrates that the body requires. I have maintained myself within the recommended range of consumption. The foods I ate that provided the carbohydrates required was the fruits and vegetables I had for these three days. On Wednesday I ate an apple which provided the carbohydrate for the day, at least for my day since that’s all I ate. On Friday I had a glass of orange juice. I also had two pancakes which contained carbohydrates. On Saturday I had one two bananas and some carrot slices with my salad. Saturday morning I had a bowl of special K cereal. This was my menu of carbohydrates for three days. It’s not much but then according to the food journal summary I stayed within the correct range. The protein I had on Wednesday consisted of chicken deep fried and chicken salad. On Friday I had some sausage in the morning and pepperoni for dinner which provided the protein. On Saturday I also had some barbeque chicken and ribs. These foods also contained lipids as some of them were fried. I had some cheese on the mashed potatoes which also had some lipids. Patient Intake Process

...Understanding the Patient Intake Process Danielle Massie 11-3-2013 HCR 220 Pamela Kerby Patient Intake Process The process of patient intake can be time consuming and demanding if the flow of the office is not well-organized.   Furthermore, the intake process involves collecting personal information from the patient before the time of the visit. The information process includes asking if they were a previous patient before.   If yes or no, then one will continue preparing for the office visit.   One must gather the patient name, insurance information, contact number, and the reason for their visit.   All of these steps can assist one in providing the best quality care to their patients.   Looking further, the patient intake process must be effective to allow everyone to be seen in a timely matter.   In addition, one should learn the physician’s habits and needs because different procedures have fluctuating times; one must have a clear understanding of how to schedule a patient visit.   Having this knowledge can help with preventing overlapping appointments which will make the office traffic run smoothly.   In this situation, having patient’s wait time no more than 15 minutes is satisfactory, and when a patient has been waiting longer, one should be able to briefly explain the delay and offer to reschedule their appointment.   The fact of the matter is, when a patient is sitting for a long...

...Food Intake – 3 Days Robert Claudio SCI/220 Human Nutrition 19 de enero de 2011 Prof. Angela Del Toro Nieves Abstract This paper is intended to explain my nutritional endeavor for the past three days. I will be providing different aspects of my nutritional needs and an in depth analysis on how proteins fats carbohydrates and fiber take part in an everyday diet and what are these functions. This is intended to broaden my views of a healthy lifestyle, and how to achieve it through a variety of food groups. In this essay the resources utilized where provided by the educational institute with the purpose of facilitating my research objectives. Food Intake – 3 Days In my recorded daily intake the foods that provided protein were beef, turkey, chicken and beans. All of the foods mentioned before provided lipids. The recorded protein, carbohydrates and lipid intakes were above the recommendations of my DRI. Since they were too high I would recommend eliminating the beef and any parts of the chicken and turkey which have excess fat. I would add more lean meats and organically proteins. Surely I would eliminate any high fat foods, emphasize in low fat – low carbohydrate foods like vegetables and salads. I ate both complete and incomplete proteins, but combining both they provided a complimentary asset of proteins. This is very important, “any protein that is incomplete on its own but may become complete when combined with other proteins to provide all......

...3 Day Food Intake Lamar D Adams SCI/220 05/16/2015 3 Day Food Intake Food intake consumed in one day is useful to record to note dietary habits, good, and bad, which are present. A record of three-day food consumption looks overwhelming in comparison. Evaluating three meals per day and snacks ingested is helpful to evaluate the effort made to eat healthier. The main portion of Proteins during the recorded three days comes from beef, yogurt, milk, beef jerky, peanut butter, and sea scallops. Carbohydrates come from oatmeal, sweet potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, pretzels, and grapes. Eleven percent of the carbohydrates come from oatmeal and grapes. The total lipid intake comes from peanut butter, blue cheese salad dressing, beef, and milk. According to the iProfile Daily Recommended Intake (DRI) (Wiley Plus, 2010), lipid intake should be within 53-93 g, and the personal intake is 31g. This is below the recommended requirement. Carbohydrate is extremely below the recommended DRI. 268-387g is the daily goal, and the intake is well below the recommendation at 85g. Protein intake is also below the DRI with a recommendation of 60-208g, the intake for three days is 50g. This is a concerning finding for the average person who is within the weight and height range. However, with this profile, for the height and current weight of the participant, oddly enough, the protein intake based on body weight is within limits. This would be appropriate to allow a weight loss, which is a......

...Food Intake Food Intake Assignment Mitchell Whitehead SCI/241 May 16. 2015 Timothy Baghurst Food Intake Assignment For this assignment I recorded my complete daily food intake for three consecutive days. During this three day time period I would say that all of the food that I consumed was a great example of my daily diet. They are the foods that I do normally eat, and with that being said this three day food intake armed me with some important information about my diet. I have learned a great deal about my diet in these short three days. I learned a great deal about my normal, or usual, protein, carbohydrate, and lipid intake. I must say that I was genuinely surprised at the results of looking at my carbohydrate, protein, and lipid intake. I gained a majority of protein from three different food sources: New York strip steak which afforded me a whopping 90.3 grams of protein, Roasted turkey meat (no skin) –which gave me 24.9 grams of protein, and deviled eggs which I gained 17.9 grams of protein from. I must say that I was quite surprised by the protein intake from the deviled eggs. Looking over the summary for the three days I was highly surprised by my high volume of carbohydrate intake. It seems as though a great deal of food that I consume on a daily basis is packed full of carbohydrates. The top sources from which I consumed the most carbohydrates is as follows: New York strip steak (64.8 grams), Bagels (31.0 grams), and Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and meatballs...

Client Intake

...My client is going through a major transition period in her life, leaving a lot of unknowns at this point. Recently the client started the process for divorce with her husband. Most of the assets that were jointly owned, were retained by the ex-husband for which he gave her a relatively small cash buyout for those. Included assets retained by the ex-husband were the house for which they owned together for 17 years (valued around $220,000), a vehicle (valued around $6,000), and a mutual life insurance policy. The value that the client was given for her share of those assets has been mostly used up to cover the deficit she has been working at for the last three years since the divorce. The client currently has one daughter in college, for which she is assisting in paying off her student loan of ______ from last year, and hopes to continue to assist with a small amount of money given each month to her. Additionally, she has another daughter who will be beginning college in the Fall of 2016 for which she hopes to assist similarly. This is a major goal for my client, so something more personal plans that require financial assistance are put on hold until her daughters are through college. A major focus she has is to try to get through these next five years (get daughters through school, and finalize divorce situation, recover from those debts) and after those five years, begin to plan more for retirement, potentially go back to school, and maybe even purchase a small......

Food Intake

...obtain and maintain optimal health. The recording food intake for three days provides many areas of nutrition that I am more aware of that before; this includes protein, carbohydrate, lipid, and fiber intake needs. Meeting the nutritional needs of the human body helps to ensure a healthy lifestyle that is free of disease and illness. Intake of Protein, Carbohydrates, and Lipids The 3-days-diet from the iProfile data shows the majority of protein intake from meats, such as chicken and tuna. The data shows that protein is a nutrient in nearly every food source but is lower than four grams if it is not a meat product. Carbohydrates are in almost every food item in the 3-day-diet records; however, the majority of carbohydrates come from consuming grains, fruits, vegetables, and sugars, such as an orange, grapes, bagel, red potatoes, granola, and milk. Aside from the small portion in granola, the majority of lipids come from meat and dairy products, such as sour cream, butter, blue cheese dressing, cream cheese, chicken, and tuna. The daily recommended intake (DRI) is the level of percentages of nutrients that science currently states what an individual needs to maintain optimal health. Wardlaw and Smith (2011) explain that the current DRI of kilocalories from nutrients is 55 to 75 percent from carbohydrates, 15 to 30 percent from lipids, 10 to 15 percent from proteins, and 25 milligrams of dietary fiber. The nutrient intake percentages from daily recordings of the......

...Food Intake Daniel Catura SCI-220/Human Nutrition January 26, 2011 James A. Davis Food Intake The iProfile Journal entry I entered is for the day of Tuesday, January 25, 2011. The food and drink I consumed on Tuesday is like that of an average day for me with the exception of the alcohol I drank in the evening. I had an everyday breakfast of hash browns, eggs, bacon, and toast. I also drank a cup of orange juice and two cups of two percent milk. I do not usually eat at fast food restaurants, but for lunch I went to Long John Silver’s, where I ordered a number three off the restaurant’s menu. A number three includes two hush puppies, one fish plank, one chicken plan, French fries, and a medium soft drink. When I arrived home I promptly started preparing dinner that included a salad, pasta with sauce, and sausage. The salad was made of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, carrots, and cucumbers. I also used regular Italian Salad dressing. For the main course, I boiled Rigatoni, and topped off with Ragu pasta sauce. I added onions and mushrooms to the sauce. As for the side, I grilled two pork sausages. The beverage that accompanied dinner was a 20-ounce of Coca Cola. After dinner I went to a bar with my fiancée. At the bar I had two Captain Morgan’s Rum and Cokes and three Bud Lights. Before I inputted the consumption of food onto the iProfile site...
