As a Communications major I have learned to appreciate the work of PR agents. As CoCo Chanel has said before, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” In my first two years as a college student, I wanted to know the honest appreciation of the production side to an event; however, I have now cultured the inns and outs of producing an event. Individual interpretations of major events, The Victoria Secret Fashion Show, New York City Fashion Week, bring varied insights to an agents capabilities and it is also interesting to point out important props that the agent has added emphases to. I have always been a perfectionist, but throughout my first degree, an A.A in Fashion Merchandising, I have greatly sharpened my critical thinking and creative skills. Instead of focusing on being a perfectionist, I have learned to continuously find motivation from all over the world right at my fingertips and to believe in everything that I successfully produce. Also, by having the opportunity to assist backstage at many events, fashion in-particular, and work with a well-known PR agent on different charity events; this has helped me to develop a broader horizon on the knowledge of a career field as such. I guess you can say that my appreciation and knowledge has matured in respect to the career field of PR, which has enlightened my inner creativity to shine on my future. Being a creative perfectionist had always been a skill of mine, but it was challenging to take the first step in working with individuals in the career field I’m working towards becoming a part of. Moving past this stage has greatly opened my mind to a better understanding. My thoughts on producing a floor plan for an event are more effective. Another achievement is my ability to think of better, more innovative design ideas for events. My produced work is so much more exhilarating.

...Journal #1 My speech wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it could have been better if I put more time into getting more information from my partner. The body paragraphs needed to give more information and go into more detail. Although it wasn’t that bad of a speech giving the thought that we met up for about thirty minutes. Back in high school when someone was giving a speech, we, the audience always tried to make them laugh, or simply just didn’t pay attention to the speaker and did something else. Now the audience was paying attention and being respectful which calmed me down when giving my speech. As the speaker I needed to be more enthusiastic while giving my speech, because how is the audience going to be interested if I don’t even seem interested. I noticed very few people glancing at their phones or just with a blank look in their face; this made me relax a little more for some reason. Even though I could have had more information and gone more into detail, my speech did flow from the thesis statement to my conclusion paragraph. I was getting more nervous as the names kept getting closer to mine, once my partner Aldo, brought me up when he gave his speech, which calmed my nervousness down a bit because it wasn’t that bad being in front of the class and having everyone’s eyes looking at you. Once my turn came to speak, I took deep breaths as I made my way to the front of the classroom, and once there I paused, and took one last deep breath, and......

...and represent each and every one of you, a person that will put in 110% is the type of person you need in serving as your CCASC President. Good morning delegates my name is Dion Anderson, and I am a junior at Westlake High school. I believe that I am that type of person and I am ready to step into the position, to serve as your CCASC President. Gandhi once said “be the change you wish to see in world”. I started to be that change at a very young age, by baking cookies for the elderly to restoring parks for my community. I had the great opportunity to be a part of a life changing experience called HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) which built and shaped me to be the great leader I am today, I don’t think I would be up here giving this speech if I hadn’t gone to HOBY. I have been a part of SGA since 8th grade and fell in love with it ever since. I got an award for doing more than the president that year. Now I would like to share with you why I want to take on the position of CCASC president. I am dedicated, passionate, and persistent to the point where I get things done. I have a strong will, and I always follow through on my promises. I’m a natural leader, and I’m extremely good at fundraising. We have had several fundraising events at Westlake high school that I took part in that were a success. I have many fresh, new ideas that I will bring to CCASC. ...Introductory Speech Did you know that the Ford Mustang is the only muscle car that has remained in constant design and production for almost 5 decades? From the 1964 ½ model to today’s 5th generation model, the Mustang still remains as one of America’s top selling muscle cars. Not many people would choose their muscle car to compare themselves to but you will see my car, the Ford Mustang, and I are characteristically similar in several ways. Like the Mustang, I am strong- like the car’s engine. I am reliable and dependable and still going strong after almost 5 decades and many physical revisions. The engine of the Mustang is strong and powerful and symbolizes my strength, both mentally and physically, to endure the many hardships I have had throughout my life. I was in a fatal car accident at the age of 2 that killed 4 people in the other car. I sustained a large head would that required 64 stitches across the back of my head and I also had 2 crushed ankles. My parents were told that I would most likely never walk again. I underwent many reconstructive surgeries on my ankles and spent over 6 months in casts that started at my toes and went to the tops of my thighs. My persisting strength became evident after the casts were removed and I began to walk once again. As I got older, I was able to play many sports like softball and basketball and never allowed anything to slow me down or get in my way. It just goes to show that a strong will can trump any doctors’...

Additionally, my thesis statement was also clearly which I am sure we can all relate to that you will never forget the way someone makes you feel even if you forget their names clearly stated. The speech was well organized from beginning to end. The major functions of the speech introduction were accomplished by initially getting the attention of the audience although The conclusion reinforced the audience’s understanding of the information presented and was tied to the central idea of the benefits of nursing Adequate research was conducted. There were four APA citations. All language presented was pronounced correctly and non-technical terms were used for overall understanding. The presentation of my speech was not rushed. ...animals, volunteering with different animal rescue foundations, and starting to gain experience working with animals hands on. Introduction: You can say that my passion for animals goes over the line towards obsession, especially for ones such as my favorite animal, the giraffe. Now when it comes to taking that and making it my career, I have chosen to take the harder path and go for my Doctorate’s Degree to become a fully licensed veterinarian. While researching how difficult it would be to gain acceptance into the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida, my dream college, I found out that I will require more than just my ultimate passion for animals to be able to obtain my degree in veterinary medicine. In today’s speech, I will share with you guys my incentives for making my passion for animals my career choice which includes: my ownership of various animals, volunteering for various animal rescue foundations and my working experience with animals hands-on. My initial impulse for choosing this career began with my ownership of various animals When I was younger, my first pets just included your average dogs and cats. From then until now, I’ve owned a wider variety of pets. Transition: As if having that amount of animals wasn’t enough, my devotion for animals led me to volunteer for various animal rescue foundations. Knowing that I need volunteering experience to apply to veterinary school in the future, I searched for opportunities throughout......

...Speech 1 “A Time for Choosing” by Ronald Reagan 1. Ronald Reagan gained the audience attention by his opening statement “ I’ve been permitted to choose my own words and ideas” 2. The topic was A Time for Choosing, it was a presidential candidate speech concerning the upcoming election which was going to be held in a few week. It explained his standpoint and views on the hot topics such as the war and the economy 3. Ronald Regan stated that he once was a democrat but felt that the issues facing the nation required him to cross the line. He is quoted as saying” those who have the most have did the least to prevent it from happening”. He stated that freedom is fragile. The government doesn’t control things without controlling people. 4. Ronald Regan was an excellent speaker. His speech flowed well. There were times he used jokes to lighten the mood as well as a way to relate to the listeners. When he was making appoint his voice became more stern and serious. 5. He transitioned into his conclusion by quoting Alexander Hamilton 6. I feel he did well by using stories; for example, the story about the Cuban who said that he had a place to go for freedom, but we as Americans have no place else to go for peace 7. The only improvements I think should have been made would have been not using the names of people for joke examples Speech 2 “Acres of Diamonds” by Russell H Conwell 1. ...The Longest Day, the Shortest Speech http://vsotd.com/featured-speech/longest-day-shortest-speech#sthash.5hXfbsUi.dpuf "The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do." Address by Dwight D. Eisenhower Written in case of failure of D-Day Invasion, Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 In my analysis of this speech, I have found that the speech fails to adhere to the guidelines of informative speech. Although it meets a few of the guidelines, the speech overall is unsuccessful in the essence of providing the vital information needed to make it a worthy informative speech. In it’s opening sentence, the speech violates the guideline “Don’t be too technical”. The speaker’s use of words such as “landings” and “foothold” are technical jargons that the ordinary audience would not be able to fully comprehend. His speech is more directed towards the military savvy audience than the common citizen and leaves a lot to be desired. The speaker could have improved his speech by using less specialized words. Although sometimes, it becomes difficult to put military terms in easy to understand language, the speaker could have used words such as “attack” in lieu of “landings” and “control” instead of “foothold”. This would have made it much easier for the audience to understand and relate to the scene. Also, in the opening sentence, the speaker violates another guideline “Don’t overestimate what the audience knows” about the topic. He refers to......

...Introduction: We’ve all heard the phrase, “a man’s best friend’ at least a few thousand times in our life time. When we say that, we are referring to the cutest most loyal animals of them all, the dog. For our group speech we decided that volunteering at a Pitbull shelter was just the right thing to do that fit us all perfectly. Saving Grace Pitbull Rescue has a history of helping dogs, what we did there was very influential and what they do for all those dogs is truly amazing. To start off with the breed “Pitbull” has a very bad reputation anywhere that they go. In the 1980s, the breed began to develop a terrible reputation. It's not clear where the cycle started, but at some point, Pit bulls became the dog breed of choice for the criminal element, or those looking for dogs to threaten, guard, intimidate and generally look scary. This led to many owners abusing their Pit bulls into becoming vicious, mean attack dogs (mom.me, 2014). One thing that I found that was very true was this quote from Cesar Millan, “Aggression is not a breed thing. It's a state of mind, and it comes from how the human is with the dog. There are four levels of energy, regardless of the breed: low, medium, high, very high. The idea is to get a dog in your same level or lower than you (BrainyQuote.com, 2015)”. In the next few moments you will learn the history of saving grace from Jonas, what we did such as the services we provided from Danny, and finally what they do, that being the services that......

...EGL 101-18 Terry Newingham September 2, 2014 Introductory Letter Dear Ms. Swafford, I would like to start by saying that I graduated from high school in 1987. So I am older than dirt. I wish I had paid more attention when I was in high school, but unfortunately I did not. I did not have anybody to push me to do better, or explain to me how all of this learning could affect me some day. So I only did as much as I had to do to graduate. So here almost 30 years later I’m struggling to put complete sentences together, let alone write a 5 page essay about something I completely know nothing about. This is sometimes very embarrassing, especially if I must compete or try to keep up with the young students. I’m not saying I can’t do this, because I can, it’s just not going to be easy for me. I’m going to have to work twice as hard as the young students do. But if you can help me and be patient with me along the way, I can accomplish what I have sat out to do. As I said before I drove a truck for 24 years and for health reasons they no longer will let me drive and as a truck driver there was not much need for proper grammar or English and nobody really cared if I could write an essay. So here I was at 44 years old and not a clue of what I’m going to do with the rest of my life and I still don’t know completely to this day, but I’m here and I’m trying to get an education. I want to get my degree in accounting. I would love to be able to be a CPA someday. I’m not sure that......
