IPhone 4S Siri stands for Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface and it is the highly advanced personal assistant built in to the new Apple iPhone 4S. Siri was launched with the new iPhone 4S in late 2011 and soon thereafter everyone knew who she was. In a description of Siri on apple.com they describe her as, “Siri on the iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.” (www.apple.com.) Apple worked hard to quickly get the word out about Siri. They used several different types of marketing tools and reached out to thousands of different people. Some of the marketing tools that they used were television commercials, magazines, cell phone stores, and several various aspects of the Internet. The Internet was probably their most popular way of advertising Siri. I know that I first heard of her through word of mouth, and then went onto www.youtube.com to view a video of Siri. I believe that Apple chose these ways of marketing Siri because by using television commercials, and the Internet, which nearly everyone in the world is exposed to one or the other, they were able to reach a very broad audience. Unfortunately, Apple made a lot of false promises and hope when they advertised Siri in their commercials, magazines, and videos. In fact, one man, Frank M. Fazio from New York, is suing Apple for false advertising. He claims that in real life Siri is nothing like the way the commercials and ads depict her to be. When doing some research, I found several people who seem to agree with him and who are also very angered by Apples false advertising of Siri. The commercials make it seem like she…...

The 4p Analysis of the First Day of Selling Iphone 5 in New York

...The 4P analysis of the first day of selling iPhone 5 in New York In the following paragraphs, I will apply the 4P Marketing Framework to a news article about the first day of selling iPhone 5 in New York with my own thoughts. The iPhone 5, which was claimed by Apple to be ‘thinnest, lightest and fastest’ smartphone ever with a larger 4-inch screen and LTE capabilities is the product. In my opinion, this product not only satisfied customer needs but also exceeds customer needs. When I look at it, I see the hard-work behind each precision in the phone. To quote what was said on the company website, ‘iPhone 5 is made with a level of precision you’d expect from a finely crafted watch-not a smartphone’. I could not agree more with it. It becomes more of a piece of art than a product to me. Because of the greater value such as the fine design that it gives me, I am willing to pay more to it than any other cell phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S® III. From my perspective, the promotion, which is least involved in the article, is the price reduction of $500 one can obtain if he is willing to sign a contract with a wireless service provider. This price reduction obviously made the iPhone 5 more appealing in terms of price. With a two-year contract, the smartphone worth US$199 with 16GB of storage, $299 for a 32GB model and $399 for a 64GB model. And according the AT&T website, without a contract, the smartphone is US$649.99 with 16GB of storage, $749.99 for a 32GB model......

...New Idea…New Business Virginia Fincher AIU Online Abstract I have a great idea for a new kind of home appliance that, I believe, will meet the everyday needs of consumers. I have done some market research and now have to convince my husband that my idea is legitimate. I have to consider the different business types. The pros and cons of each type and make a decision on which business type would best suit my needs. Title of Paper I have a great idea for a new kind of home appliance that, I believe, will meet the everyday needs of consumers. I have very little financial skills and no management skills. I need to create a company so I can begin the process of introducing my product to the consumer. I do not have a very high net worth, so I don’t know how I will get the funding I need to begin this journey. There are products on the market now that are similar to my idea, but have been proven dangerous. I don’t have any knowledge about manufacturing this product, except that it will cost a lot of money. I do believe that if I can get it manufactured and presented to the consumer, it would be applicable in a wide range of other products. I now need to convince my husband that my idea is legitimate. I have given him two examples of other products that were invented for one purpose, but have proven to have very widespread uses. I believe my product will have the same success. I have completed......

History of the Iphone

...The iPhone – Technology at its best We live in an age of information and technology where data is sent and received with the touch of a button and in the blink of an eye in most cases. Think about what one see countless times during the day; at the grocery store, in the car, at a restaurant. No matter where one goes, one can see someone with a cell phone either “attached to their ear,” sending or reading a text message, on Facebook, tweeting, on insta-gram, or reading their e-mail. The iPhone has become the modern day icon for communication of all sorts and one of the most successful products marketed to the public. The Beginning of Apple Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs were friends and college drop-outs; Wozniak worked for Hewlett-Packard and Jobs worked for Atari. They decided to build and market their own computer in April of 1976; this was the beginning of a company known as Apple, along with their first product, the Apple 1. The company grew from that point, year by year, in leaps and bounds, such that in 1980 Apple employed several thousand employees ("Apple-history," 2013). Apple went through several ups and downs between 1981 and 1997, not to mention several CEO’s along the way. With the loss of Steve Jobs, it seemed that the company struggled until his return in 1997. With his return, Apple started to climb out of the hole it had fallen into (Mesa, 1998). From 1997 to 2007, With Steve Jobs at the helm, Apple became a leader in the technological world......

Consumer Behavior with Iphones

...Consumer Behavior and iPhones Cell phones have essentially become a necessity in most all generations over the past decade. Over the past few years cell phones have become more than just a means of telephone communication due to such strong advances in technology. Now, other than being a form of convenient communication, cell phones have also turned into cameras, computers, and even GPS navigators. The new fad in cell phones are called “smartphones,” which are high-end mobile phones built on a mobile computing platform, with more advanced computing ability and connectivity than contemporary cell phones. The first smartphones were devices that combined the functions of a personal digital assistant (PDA) and a mobile phone or camera phone. However, today's models also combine the functions of media players, digital cameras, video cameras, and GPS navigation units. They also typically include touchscreens and web browsers that can access and display standard web pages, and high-speed data access via Wi-Fi and mobile broadband. Years ago smartphones began as an opportunity for business individuals to receive e-mail and keep up with clients, but they are now becoming a phenomena for regular consumers and individuals starting as young as teenagers. The consumer using smartphones is getting younger in age everyday. In fact, to demonstrate the youth of smartphone consumers, my little cousin just got an iPhone for her tenth birthday. Due to the increasing popularity of......

...iPhone 4Gs Many people do not like the new iPhone 4Gs because it is the same as the iPhone 4 but bit a bit more advanced. For example the iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera, run on iOS 4 versions and has many additional updated functions. The iPhone 4Gs had mostly all the same functions but more advanced and some functions were updated. Some functions that were upgraded or added include Siri, the camera and iOS 5. The purpose of this paper is to discuss one of Steve Jobs’s creations, the iPhone 4Gs. Siri is a personal assistant in your pocket. It was made in April of 2010, in California. Siri was always been hands free, so when you talk to it, it will talk back. Siri understands a lot, so when you talk to it, it will understand you. Siri lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings and place phone calls. The only way to get Siri is to buy the iPhone 4Gs, even though you can think that Siri can be downloaded, you are wrong because no one has found out a way to make that happen yet. When Siri thinks you have forgotten something that is important it will speak out loud and tell you what you have forgotten. Even though Siri is a computer based program it can make mistakes. The iPhone 4Gs camera is more advanced then the iPhone 4. The differences in camera are that iPhone 4Gs has an 8 megapixel camera and iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera. The iPhone’s new camera is now the best camera on a mobile phone ever. Comparing pictures from other mobile devices that......

...New Business Suzy Gonzalez Com/100 September 5th, 2011 Christine Piatkowski New Business Microsoft introduced the Zune mp3 player in 2006. Microsoft hoped that their portable music players would compete against the popular Apple iPod. Though Microsoft introduced innovative technologies in the Zune such as the first to include a Wi-Fi access and built-in FM radio, consumers preferred quantity to quality (Chapin, 2011). Advertising Media Microsoft has launched many marketing campaigns to promote the Zune. One of its major campaigns occurred in many college campuses across the country. Microsoft would select a group of college individuals to promote the device in exchange of free merchandise from the company. Microsoft also depended on the viral movement to promote the Zune. Videos surfaced online from technological device reviewers that generated anticipation and excitement about this new device. Magazines would also feature articles on the Zune’s capabilities and high-quality characteristics versus the Apple iPod. Microsoft partnered with MySpace to influence the current social media users. Unsuccessful Advertising Strategies Microsoft’s attempt to stabilize the Zune in the competitive mp3 market did not satisfy consumers. Young college students were an important strategy that Microsoft chose to promote their new product. The iPod was the dominant and popular mp3 player at the moment. The youth makes a product popular because if they promote it......

...Hewlett-Packard Business Analysis On February 22nd, 2012 HP announced financial results for its first fiscal quarter ended January 31, 2012. For the quarter, net revenue of $30.0 billion was down 7% from the prior-year period. Gross profit was $6.6 billion and Net Income was $1.46 billion. Revenue from outside of the United States in the first quarter accounted for 66% of total HP revenue. BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) generated revenue of $3.1 billion, down 13% from the year-ago period, and representing 10% of total HP revenue. Compared to other company in the same industry HP has not done a better job, and sometimes even below other companies performance. The biggest difference in revenues and financial growth can be seen against Apple, which total revenues reached $ 44.33 billion on the quarter ending on December 31st, 2012, Gross Profit grew to $20.7 billion and a net income of $13.06 billion. Notice that Apple not only has greater revenue but its profits margins are several times greater than HP’s. On the other hand, Dell has made less revenues and profit than HP. During its quarter ending on February 2nd, 2012 Dell’s total revenue was $16 billion, gross profit $3.38 billion and net income $764 million.
