EE UU abraza causas progresistas

Marc Bassets ELPAIS.COM

The Royal Mail Industrial Dispute

...The royal mail industrial dispute Two days of national strike action was taken in October 2009, supported by an overwhelming YES vote of three to one launched by Communication Workers Union (CWU). The dispute over pay, job securities and working conditions is still continuing although CWU has suspended strike to provide a period of calm for the Union and Royal Mail to negotiate a full and final agreement on the introduction of automation and relevant working practices. The strained relations of both sides reveal the sensitive and complicated employer-employee relationship. Since the employee plays a vital role in the management, how to deal with the mutual relationships and ease the contradictions in order to make the relations go on the track of sound progress becomes an urgent issue. Through the Royal Mail case, if Royal Mail had balanced the modernization, the redundancy of employees and stabilization, the strike action could have been prevented. Now, both sides have to face a long period of negotiation for the sake of mutual interests. The essay is writing to identify and analyze the relationship of both sides in order to get to the crux of this relation dispute. On behalf of employee’s right, the essay also puts forward a series of suggestions to find alternatives to defuse the contradiction and resolve the conflicts. Case Description The Royal Mail industrial dispute is a long-running dispute in the United Kingdom between Royal Mail and members of the......

Journalist E-Mail Assignment

...Megan Crites 6/22/2014 HUM/176 Journalist E-mail Assignment Hello My Friend, How is everything going for you? Well, over here, there has been quite a challenge ahead of me in regards to this political campaign research. As you well know, being a journalist means I have an obligation to provide legitimate, accurate, honest coverage on whichever topic I am to report on. This is extremely hard because the amount of falsified information out in the real world is bigger than what we can imagine. I would like to use all of my knowledge to show I am worthy of a larger topic to cover aside from the political campaigns. Did you know that every political figure gives information about their opponent with small minor falsified details which makes my job even harder? Why is it so hard to speak only the truth about your worthy opponent? Once each candidate makes their comments about the opposing candidate, then social media has their take at it and that is a challenge all in its own when determining what is real and what is fake. I believe that in a way, the social interactions on media and in person are solely responsible for me even having to cover this story. We have three presidential candidates that are fighting to be the top two elected. One candidate, Ron Paul, had received an outrageous amount of straw votes which is suppose to be a big reason in why someone gets voted as a candidate. Somehow, media is not covering him, and they are covering is runner up, Mitt Romney.......

However, Deutsche Post’s revenues, at £46.3 billion are nearly five times greater than the revenues for Royal Mail. Profits measured by earnings before interest and taxation has increased for Royal Mail from £277 million in 2010/11 to £367 million in 2011/12. This is mainly due to revenue growth. Parcel revenue increased 13 per cent year on year, with letters revenue growing three per cent. Whilst this is strong year-on-year performance in profits for Royal Mail, profits as a percentage of revenues (referred to as “return on sales” in the table above) of 3.96% is a little lower than the 4.80% for Deutsche Post, but clearly much lower than the 7.70% for Austria Post. The lower return for Royal Mail can in part be attributed to the......

Mail Merger

...Mail Merger Mark Stephson IT/206 September 5, 2014 Joseph Navara By having or using the Mail Merger program into business organizations or small companies would help the organization in many ways. Providing that the company would already have other types of files already made up through the Microsoft Excel or with the Microsoft Word/or Microsoft Access, it would create a tremendous amount of ease of time consumption within the departments of the company by using this program. One of the many key functions of this program would be that one can mail merge information from the Microsoft Access to Microsoft Word documents, such as adding customer addresses to letter documents, letter greeting headings and etc., and to be able to pull information from other programs as well (Excel, Access etc.). By having the third party plugins, there would always be a chance of difficulties; one would be if the user might have done the error, if not check to see if the problem would be within the program itself. Once that the problem has been found, find a resolution on fixing the problem and continue to fix the issue. Then there is one other way to put the program back to the original state would be using the back arrow at the top left corner of the page that would put the previous page before the changes on the ladder page. Then of course of the level of knowledge of the supporter on how sever of the issue of the problem, usually it would be due to the error of the user and not......

Daily Mail Case

...Daily Mail (Case 81/87, 27 September 1988) Daily Mail was a tax-law case. Daily Mail plc wanted to move its de facto head office (tax residence) to the Netherlands because of the more favourable tax regime there, while at the same time it planned to remain a company subject to UK company law. The UK Treasury Department refused permission for the transfer of seat, which is necessary under UK law. EC law implications Because of the refusal of the UK Treasury Department to allow the transfer of the de facto head office, Daily Mail referred the question to the ECJ, whether Articles 43 and 48 EC Treaty preclude a member state from obstructing the transfer of the de facto head office from a member state. Decision of the court The ECJ concluded that this issue falls outside the scope of the Treaty provisions on freedom of establishment. Moreover, the Court added obiter dictum some comments regarding several conflicts of law questions. The Daily Mail judgment was recently confirmed by the Cartesio decision (see below). Centros (Case C-212/97, 9 March 1999) Two Danes established Centros Ltd under UK company law. The company was trade only in Denmark, however. The incorporators clearly stated that they had established the entity under UK company law solely to avoid the minimum capitalisation requirement for Danish limited liability companies. The Danish commercial registry considered this to be an unlawful circumvention of the Danish minimum capitalisation rules and so refused......

Express Mail Industry

...The Express Mail Industry Analysis The express mail industry has expanded tremendously in recent years. Businesses and individuals spent $16-17 billion on expedited shipments within the United States in 1996. The main reason of the evolution of express mail industry is urgency, which includes urgent documents, parcels and perishable good. Business cycle became faster, and customers demand to fast delivery expanded. By increasing demand, express companies offer diverse services: overnight shipping, next-afternoon delivery, second-day service, same-day, and early next morning delivery. Not only delivery were proliferated, but also delivery service itself was advanced. Now customer can track their shipments and get guarantee on time service. These conveniences also affected how express mail industry evolved. The volume of shipping has increased to 15-20% per year for the past decade. However, total revenue of express mail industry increased only 10-15% because of falling price. Among many express mail companies, Federal Express, UPS, and Airborne Express (The big three) served more than 85% of the market share. Because of an investment in physical, information, and human assets, the big three delivered more than 5 million packages each day, and arrived on time over 98%. Even though each company had different operational structure, their basic infrastructures and activity were the same. They used large fleet of vans and drivers, and collected packages from customers.......

William's Mail

...A mom cried out for help online when her 12 year old son, diagnosed with autism, asked for one simple request this past Christmas. When all other children are asking for video games and Ipads, all William wanted was to receive mail. He is a nonverbal boy that communicates by use of sign language or writing. Desperate to make his wish come true, his mother, Kay Thomas, plead to social media for assistance. William’s mother’s post was shared within days by thousands, including awareness support organizations like Autism Speaks. Her request was answered and her son is now receiving letters from around the world. The bias of the topic is that not many people understand autism. They see a normal boy like William, and stare or question his behavior. The truth about autism is that autism affects over 3 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide. 1 in 68 children are affected with some form Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the brain and can make communicating and interacting with other people difficult. Every individual on the autism spectrum has problems to some degree with social skills, empathy, communication, and flexible behavior. Complaints was received from the University concerning the poor and ineffective services provided by this department but I find this disgruntling because each mailroom employees put in their effort in doing what was taught to them by their supervisors and doing their job accurately and effectively. I conducted a research using articles from other resources on mail rooms and my major focus will be on the mailroom employees and the importance of complaint avoidance from the University. I also interviewed one of my co-workers about the problems mailroom encounter and what should be done in order to elude them in the future. Electronic Mail and the Written Word

...correspondence through mail, and leaving messages on home answering machines. At one time, these outdated items were the wave of the future. Mark Twain couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the typewriter. Why aren’t these technical advances not good enough anymore? Why have these ways of communicating become historical artifacts? Most of one’s answer lies in the fact that people are constantly looking for faster, more convenient ways to achieve their goals, and cyber culture does just that. Tools such as e-mail provide one with a way to write and communicate with others in a very convenient way. The world we live in is very fast paced. Tasks such as hand writing and mailing letters have become too time consuming. As Dennis Baron writes in his essay “From Pencils to Pixels”, “…the physical effort of handwriting, crossing out, revising, cutting and pasting, in short, the writing practices I had been engaged in regularly since the age of four, now seemed to overwhelm and constrict me, and I longed for the flexibility of digitized text” (Tribble and Trubek 36). Besides the troubles of writing a letter, one would then have to stamp and seal the envelope, and rely on the trusty post office to deliver your letter in a timely manner. As essayist Adam Gopnik states, “Ten years ago, even the most literate of us wrote maybe half a dozen letters a year” (181). Ten years ago, one would have more than likely picked up the phone rather than sit down and write a letter. E-mail, in a......

...Unit 210 – Handle Mail Section 1: Understand security procedures when handling mail or packages. 1.1 Explain the purpose of security procedures for handling mail and packages. The purpose of having security procedures in place for when you’re handling mail or packages is to make sure that nothing confidential to the business is received by the wrong person. Mail to a business could contain information about customers, staff or upcoming events for the business which would need to kept secure until they reached the recipient the security procedures would make sure that the mail was not lost while it is being sent it would also make sure that the mail wasn’t picked up by the wrong person before the recipient. 1.2 Give examples of security procedures for handling mail in organisations. If a questionable parcel is delivers it should not be passed on to the member of staff it was addressed to or any other member of staff, the parcel should be kept in a safe place and if you feel it needed call the emergency services to come and check the parcel and potentially dispose of it. It is also important to make sure that you can remember who delivered the parcel if not take a note of them if possible. You could also check to see if they work for any regular courier company that delivers to the business or if they work for the local mail office. Section 2:......

Voice Mail

...VOICE MAIL SYSTEM “Enthusiasm is contagious,” says Hasbrouck. “If you don’t feel like leaving a message, just hang up. You need to be in the right frame of mind. If you don’t sound like someone they want to talk to, they won’t ever respond.” INTRODUCTION: Voice mail was introduced in the late 1970s. Gordon Mathews founded a company called VMX in 1979. VMX stood for "voice mail express," and Mathews received a U.S. patent for his digital invention in 1982. VMX was the first voice mail provider service, its first client being 3M. The system recorded and managed messages using the digital technology available during the late 1970s and 1980s. Some companies still use their VMX systems. Junk Mail

...Junk Mail Some of the main reasons why I am for junk mail or as they call it, direct or stand mail is simply because they it’s a way for small businesses to advertise themselves, keeps our USPS employees employed, also give companies the advantage to send direct mail pieces to specific buying groups, based on key demographics, such as gender, age, household income, household size and profession (Suttle); on a lighter note it even contains coupons. I know a lot of people are against junk mail because it takes up space, goes into the landfills, and most people just throw their junk mail without even reading it, however, I feel that as long as it’s used in the correct manner, its harmless. In regard to keeping employment for our USPS carriers, as much as we may dislike all that extra bulk mail we receive in our mail, we have to remember behind that junk/bulk mail is a hard working individual like ourselves just trying to make a living. According to an article I read, there is saturation mailing, where the Post Office helps bulk mailers send mail to every address in an area (with addresses only - no names - on the mailings). The bulk mailer has to build up a list containing at least 90% of the addresses in a carrier-route. The Post Office will then supply the remaining 10% for a small fee so that the bulk mailer will reach everyone on the route. ("U.S. Post Office") Whether we like it or not, there is a deadline to be met by our fellow USPS employee. All this junk mail......
