Be Careful What You Wish for

...Rochester is different and varies from the idea of the conventional tragic Byronic hero. Byronic heroes are usually extraordinarily handsome or appealing physically. However, from a physical point of view, Mr Rochester is not in any way handsome in a traditional sense. In chapter 13, he is described as “having broad and jetty eyebrows; his square forehead, made squarer by the horizontal sweep of his black hair. I recognised his decisive nose, more remarkable for character than beauty; his full nostrils, denoting, I thought, choler; his grim mouth, chin, and jaw—yes, all three were very grim, and no mistake. His shape, now divested of cloak, I perceived harmonised in squareness with his physiognomy”. Although his craggy looks should in fact make him a social outcast, he overcomes his physical “deformities” by having a passionate and colourful personality, making him one of the most sensual and interesting characters in jane eyre. People are drawn to him despite his physical appearance, and he has a high standing in society (although this could be attributed partly to his wealth). Next, Byronic heroes are wounded physically and/or emotionally—vulnerable in some way. We first encounter Mr Rochester when his horse slipped on the ice, causing him to fall and spraining his ankle. He needed to rely to Jane for help to get back to his horse, Mesrour. Jane's momentous meeting with Rochester is significant at many levels. It foreshadows the end of the novel where Mr Rochester has......

A Wish and a Dream

...A Wish and A Dream May 8, 2012 at 7:30am Whenever I make wishes there always the same, And there always in your name. Today I wished that I had one last day, To hear your voice, even if I don’t know what to say. It’s been 2 years since you died and I can’t recall your face, I can’t remember your loving embrace.   Whenever I close my eyes the flash backs hit me like a bad dream. The sound of the phone ringing, the crying on the other line, it was extreme. I recall my cousin’s voice, mumbling the words, I couldn’t fight the tears streaming down my cheek. The drive to the hospital felt like hours, My whole body felt numb and weak.   I close my eyes, and I can still see, My loved ones surrounding me. I’m pacing back and forth through the halls, Crying in bathroom stalls. My mind about to make the toughest choice, But I feel like I have no voice.   I can still hear the sound of your last breathe, The painful sound of death. The rise and fall of your chest, Wishing god would put you to rest.   I did not let you go alone; I was with you till the end. And for that my heart can never mend. And just when I thought you had gone, you’d gasp for air. I held your hand, I told you I loved you, and I sat in that chair.   When it was all over, I ran to brother’s side, I just wanted to curl up and hide.   Last night I dreamed of the night you died, I jerked awake so fast and cried. I held my head in shame, Feeling like I was to blame.   Every time I......

...Process production means that the product undergoes physical -chemical transformations and lacks assembly operations, therefore raw materials cant easily be obtained from the final product, examples include: paper, cement and nylon. * Part production (ex: cars and ovens) comprises both manufacturing systems and assembly systems. In the first category we find job shops, manufacturing cells, flexible manufacturing systems and transfer lines, in the assembly category we have fixed position systems, assembly lines and assembly shops (both manual and/or automated operations) Another possible classification[12] is one based on Lead Time (manufacturing lead time vs delivery lead time): Engineer to Order, Purchase to Order, Make to Order, Assemble to Order and Make to Stock. According to this classification different kinds of systems will have different customer order decoupling points (CODP), meaning that Work in Progress cycle stock levels are practically nonexistent regarding operations located after the CODP (except for WIP due to queues). The concept of production systems can be expanded to the service sector world keeping in mind that services have some fundamental differences in respect to material goods: intangibility, client always present during transformation processes, no stocks for "finished goods". Services can be classified according to a service process matrix: degree of labor intensity (volume) vs degree of customization (variety). For high degree of labor......

Victor's Last Wish

...ACTIVE LOG WEEK 3 Stronge once has claimed in the year of 2007 that an effective teacher plans, prepares and gives great emphasis for the organization and management of a classroom. As proposed by him, I realize that how important for a teacher trainee like me to learn how to manage a classroom. In my opinion, I think that classroom management is like coaching a football team. The teacher who is the coach needs to develop a mutual understanding and commitment with the students in order to deliver and empower them with effective teaching and learning process. This also ultimately reflects my personal teaching philosophy which is to engage in the student’s learning and inspires them internally. In order to make my personal philosophy a success, as a future teacher I will be very strict in my ways to produce successful learners who upholds the school’s name which also football coach needs to uphold his countries name by winning as many games as his team could. I will engage with my students by teaching and imposing them with the correct ways of learning and asked them to stick to what I have taught so that they won’t be on the wrong side and we can work together and achieve tone of successes. Furthermore, as a future teacher I will deliberately use the legitimate power that I will have and engage with my student as a form of authority that need to be followed and considered during the teaching and learning process as I’m the teacher and I know what best for my students. Make a Wish

...suffering from life- threatening illnesses who do not have a chance to be a kid or to grow up with the memories of childhood. We try all we can as parents and family to keep our children safe we just can not perdict a child getting a life threating illness, we do all we can to make our child happy while going through a scary ordeal. If we can make one dream come true for a sick child for one day of forgetting they are staring down a life threatening illness and make that child laugh wouldn't giving that child a wish come true be amazing? The social program I am creating is a program to help a child who is terminally ill or has a life threatening illness called “Dreams Come True.” A dream come True program would for one day grant sa wish one child makes come true. To make this happen I would need to set up the program, find donors and volunteers, financing to help the wishes come true. Advances in medicine and modern technonogy have increased the survival rate in children with chronic illness, including illnessess that were considered fatal (Cohen,1995).Witnessing the child's pain and fear, combined with the constant fear of death makes it difficult for the family to function normally and plan for the future (Haas, 1990; Rolland, 1994; Sloper, 2000). Literature on the differential impact of the child's chronic illness on the fathers and mothers is limited . Although paternal roles have changed over the......

The Two Wish Genie

...I start my sunny morning as usual with a steamy cup of coffee but something seemed odd about the mug I grabbed. I was holding it in my hand as I examined it for a few seconds; then is started shaking slightly. All of a sudden the shaking kept getting harder and faster till I see it start smoking. Then I see some kind of genie pop out of my coffee cup. I can tell shes a genie by the funny clothes she has on. She looks at me, smiles, and says that she is here to grant me two wishes. One wish has to be personal but the second one has to be on the behalf of others. I think about my wishes for just a few seconds then they both come to mind. My first wish is my personal wish. I wish that I would win the lottery. Not only win for myself but also for my parents so I could pay them back for everything they’ve done for me. Also I could give some of the money I would win to charities. Also I could use the money for starving kids in other countries. That brings me to my second wish. I would wish that I could stop world hunger. As I say that, the genie looks straight at me and says that she is going to grant both of my wishes. As she says that I’m wondering in my mind why this genie chose me. Why is she giving me the two wishes? I’m not sure if I’ve done anything good in my life so if she actually does grant my wishes then I would become a better person. The genie starts to close her eyes and lifting her arms up in the air. I feel as if the world stopped moving. Then all of a sudden...

I Wish

...I Wish..I May..I Wish..I Might I wish that clock went slower, paused, or could rewind I wish my heart wasn’t at the mercy of the hands of time I wish I could go back and tell myself what I know now I wish there was a book for me to understanding how I may be a good mother, or do at least my best I may have given all I had, and sacrificed the rest I may have loved with what I could, the outcome still is blind I maybe should have tried to change, not the other’s flaws, but mine I wish I had let God lead me, much earlier than this I wish I moved out of my own way, I may have already found bliss I wish I had learned from my mistakes, just as I had thought I wish I just listened and remembered, I know now what I forgot I might have had a smile on, it didn’t hinder me I might have laughed, and justified, it was easy to believe I might have been as strong as a rock, unbreakable, hard headed I might have played it really well, I might have just pretended I wish….I may….I wish…..I might….Have the wish, I wish tonight But wishing never got us moving forward in this life So raise a glass, let’s make a toast to the past that we can see I choose my future, and vow to make the change I need in me. -Kaitlyn Marie...

How Dreams Connect to Wish Fulfillment

...How Dreams Connect to Wish Fulfillment Dreams are a very diverse subject in cinema because of the various ways they are portrayed and played out in a film. They are open to have anything happen in them, and the advancement in cinematography and postproduction makes it possible to take many different artistic directions when filming dream sequences in a film. It is also possible for a dream to have meanings and purposes, such as playing a role in fulfilling a wish that someone cannot normally achieve in reality on their own. This idea is represented well by the protagonist in Sherlock Jr., a projectionist who yearns to become a detective. Since Sherlock Jr. is a silent film, the protagonist’s feelings and emotions, as well as the emotions of all of the other characters, are heavily portrayed through their actions and facial expressions, as well as dialogue and backstory that are shown on the title cards. One of the projectionist’s desires is explained at the very start of the film, first written on the second title card and then in the first and second opening shot where he is seen reading a book titled “How To Be A Detective.” In the first shot where he is seen sitting by himself and the big empty theater can be perceived as representing how enthralled he is in his own world of wanting to be a detective. While reading the book, the protagonist shows more of his desire by taking out a magnifying glass and inspecting his own fingerprint, and by wearing a fake moustache......

Memang selain sekolah lo ngapain lagi sih?” tanya Niken. “Oh, gue tau. Pasti lo sibuk sama motor itu, kan?” ujarnya menjawab pertanyaannya sendiri. Alex cuma meringis. “Tapi lucu kok. A Final Wish of Death

...A Final Wish of Death A final wish of death should be granted when life has come to its last chapter and all that is sought is a peaceful passing. The decision between a physician and terminally ill patient to hasten their death should be accepted and granted. A terminal illness can be described as an incurable disease which will end the life of the sufferer. If death is inevitable, why must we wait for natural causes to occur? Physician-assisted deaths should be legalized in all states so that the terminally ill can request a final act of dignity. “Physician-assisted death is defined as the physician providing the means for death, most often with a prescription. The patient not the physician will ultimately administer the lethal medication” (Braddock & Tonelli, 1998). If a patient can come to a decision when it is time to stop treatment for their terminal illness, they should also be allowed to choose when to bring death. End of life care has become an equally important issue to physicians as well as the patients. If physician-assisted deaths were permitted in all 50 states, physicians could openly discuss end of life wishes with their patients. With all the advances in modern medicine, people are living much longer which allows for a higher risk in developing a terminal illness. A few examples of terminal illnesses are cancer, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, renal failure, and heart failure. With increasing numbers in terminal......
