In today’s day and age, few billion dollar corporations still have the betterment of society in mind. With about 2.25 billion cups of coffee being consumed each day, it is no doubt that the coffee industry has some of the world’s biggest corporations. Located in over 50 countries, employing over 137,000 people, Starbucks Corporation is a giant in the coffee industry. Unlike other huge corporations, Starbucks stands by their belief that the best way for a company to become successful is by doing business ethically. Originally targeting adults who desired to purchase coffee beans to make coffee themselves, Starbucks expanded into a larger market by selling drinks, CDs, coffee makers, and small snacks. All of these productions would obviously have an effect on their environmental impact but the Starbucks top-line managers have taken initiative to reduce this impact as much as possible.

Although the costs of trying to reduce your environmental footprint may be high, Starbucks Corporation has gone above and beyond to make sure that they cut back on their negative impact on the environment. Not only do they make sure that they are helping the society, they release their global issue reports to the public. Many different aspects are involved in trying to keep this promise that Starbucks has made of trying to cut back on their water supply and improve their recycling. (Reis, 2009) There are many advantages and disadvantages as well as opportunities to expand their market in order to achieve greater profits.

The social forces involved with the running of Starbucks Corporation are immense. Not only does the company have a huge impact on the society, society certainly drives the company as well. According to a figure quoted by USA Today, one-fifth of the world lacks clean drinking water supply. Starbucks has introduced brand new bottled water that is safe and they have…...

...Analysis Report for Week 2 1. Poor planning- Going into business requires a lot of planning, for example, financial planning (Budget proposal) and market planning (Market Plan). At CanGo they were able to see some initial success without the formal planning in place, but now that they are introducing an online gaming segment that will put the entire company at risk if they do not initially put a plan in place. My recommendation would be to create a formal budget for each of the marketing segments that CanGo is in. The team needs to know what resources are available to them. This way they can focus their efforts on the areas where they can get the most bang for their buck. They will be able to utilize their funds in the best way possible in order to generate more revenue or at least keep up with demand. Some projects will need to be forgone to insure the funds are available to support operations. 2. Not having a business strategy set in place- At CanGo success was an accident. They did not go into business with a strategy in place for success, but none the less they were able to create a business that flourished. Although they did not start with a good plan in place there is still time to put a strategy in place and create some structure in the organization. My recommendation would be to perform a SWOT analysis. This self-assessment will be able to show CanGo what procedures and routines are working well and which ones need some improvement. It will also identify some......

...The word marketing means different things to different people. A salesman understands by marketing his selling activities of oral presentation with a view to effectuate the exchange of money for the benefits offered by his product. To an advertising man, it means advertising media selection and a host of activities related to the advertising function. However, advertising is much more than these activities and along with the work of the salesmen no doubt constitute part of the selling effort. Image Courtesy : ampsmarketing.org/wp-content/themes/smallbiz/images/social_media_network_marketing_strategies.jpg High sounding definitions have been advanced for marketing such as “the delivery of a standard of living to society”. A factual or descriptive definition is provided by the American Marketing Association which defines marketing as “the performance of business activities that direct the flow of goods and services from producer to consumer or user.” However, these definitions are both incomplete. For example, the American Marketing Association’s definition is still “production-oriented” as it starts with a product and talks about its flow from the producer to the consumer. Marketing thinking must start even before there is a product. It is concerned with identifying existing needs and then converting them into a product or service. Besides, even after the product has reached the consumer or user, the marketing effort does not necessarily come to an end. There is a......

...cologne is packaged in a small, classy rectangular bottle, with simply, “Kenneth Cole Reaction” written across the middle in white and a vivid, eye-catching lime green. The moniker of this particular fragrance is a very appropriate/simple brand name—Kenneth Cole Reaction, is not only a scent, but also an entire line of products such as clothing, shoes, and outerwear. Cole’s product is in its maturity/plateau stage of the life cycle due to its international notoriety, and its abundant availability in various chain stores and online retail outlets. This form of distribution, defined by Contemporary Business, Boone and Kurtz (12th Edition), on page 433, reads as “…placing a firm’s products in nearly every available outlet,” summarizes the marketing concept behind the Reaction cologne. (3) The retail price for a 1.7 ounce bottle of “Reaction” is approximately $42.50. This is a good price for such a high quality cologne as compared to others of similar status. For example, “Calvin Klein Man”, a relatively new cologne on the market is going for approximately $53.00 per 1.7 ounce bottle, and “Diesel”, another popular brand of similar public standing sells for about $62.00 for a 1.7 ounce bottle. (4) As previously stated, his (Cole’s) product is distributed virtually everywhere and is intensive. It can be found in most of the chain/department stores that sell middle class cologne. (not costing hundreds of dollars a bottle, nor a feeble price such as 10 dollars a bottle.) If......

...Clairol’s touch of yogurt shampoo Behavioral Analysis for Marketing Decisions Report Clairol’s touch of yogurt shampoo Behavioral Analysis for Marketing Decisions Report EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Clairol’s Touch of Yogurt Shampoo is our product which is launched by P&G. Our product is extracted vitamin and lactic acid from yogurt perfectly combined with shampoo to provide a neutral care to your dull and dry hair. In 1979, P&G first launched Clairol’s Touch of Yogurt Shampoo, however it didn’t gain enough market share and fail to survive in the market. Today, we want to re-launched a brand new repackaging yogurt shampoo with new advertisements, new positioning and new target market. We believe that yogurt shampoo is a really good personal care product which fits perfectly into the “back to natural and organic lifestyle” trend in today’s society. In order to understand who will be our target consumer and how people’s view about ‘back to nature’ lifestyle, we conducted interviews and survey. From the result, we understand that most people do love the back to nature lifestyle as we assumed before and it also confirms our original idea about our new positioning. After a redesign of packaging with a transparent bottle and metal pump, we want to target our yogurt shampoo to a premium shampoo product in the niche market, aiming customers who are seeking high quality lifestyle, pursuing a natural, organic and healthy lifestyle. Our target consumer would be female who are...
