Healthcare industries have seen recent movements towards continuous quality improvement and this has gained momentum. The healthcare managers that endeavor to achieve excellence take patient perception into account when designing the strategies for quality improvement of care. Recently, the healthcare regulators shifted towards a market -driven approach of turning patient satisfaction surveys into a quality improvement tool for overall organizational performance. Recently, the healthcare regulators shifted towards a market -driven approach of turning patient satisfaction surveys into a quality improvement tool for overall organizational performance. In 1996, evaluation of patient satisfaction was mandatory for all hospitals. A study was conducted in a tertiary teaching hospital in aiming to assess the opinions of clinical staff towards the effect of in-patient satisfaction surveys on the quality improvement process. A favorable result of 94% revealed that the patient was able to judge hospital service quality, especially in its relational, organizational and environmental dimensions. In Germany, measuring satisfaction has been required since 2005 as an element of quality management reports. Since 2002, the Department of Health (DOH) has launched a national survey program in which all NHS trusts have to survey patient satisfaction on an annual basis and report the results to their regulators. Therefore, measurement of patient satisfaction is a legitimate indicator for improving the services and strategic goals for all healthcare organizations. There is no consensus between the literatures on how to define the concept of patient satisfaction in healthcare. In Donabedian's quality measurement…...

...Chapter 5 RESEARCH DESIGN GENERAL CONCEPT MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS 1. General Mills conducted research on a "new, improved" version of their cereal, TRIX. Consumer taste tests showed the new version was preferred over the old TRIX, but the new version was a failure when it was introduced. It was noted that the research was flawed in that the new version of TRIX was compared with the old TRIX, a choice that consumers in the marketplace would not have. The correct research should have compared the new TRIX with competitor brands. This example was presented in your text to illustrate: a. poor budgeting for research b. how researchers in large firms are in "silos" and are not open to outside suggestions c. how former research studies often determine the design of present studies d. improper research design e. a case where exploratory research should have been undertaken after the causal research Answer: (d) Difficulty: (Moderate) Page: 114 2. Which of the following is true about research design? a. Research design should be the first consideration in a research project. b. Research design decisions should be made after data analysis. c. Assignment 2: Logical Design, Part 1

...Global Consulting. Relational models can provide some very significant advantages over other methods. First, they are very easy to read due to the nature of two-dimensional tables. Columns and row format is straightforward and consists of a collection of similar data among rows that allow for the user to easily locate what they need. One of the biggest advantages of the relational model of database design is that its foundation is formal mathematical theory. It allows its concepts to be defined and examined with great precision. In other systems, the calculations may need to be done separately prior to using the database. 2. Summarize in your own words the purpose of an E-R model specific to ACME Global Consulting. The E-R model can provide ACME Global with a specific, but open-ended design that is tailored to the company’s needs. This also allows us to sketch the design of a database informally and incorporate changes in order to avoid problems later on. The E-R model allows for growth beyond its ideas at inception. It lays the groundwork for later database relational designs. 3. List and describe essential components of the model such as entities, attributes, keys, relationships, roles, and dependencies specific to ACME Global Consulting. Entity: real-world object or thing with an independent existence and which is distinguishable from other objects. Examples are a person, car, customer, product, gene, book etc. Attributes: an entity is represented by a......

Marketing Research Application #2

...Maria Tropiano Saturday, June 8, 2013 Marketing Research Application #2 1. Market Entry Strategy: which global market entry strategy will be most effective and why? The globalthoughts.com and the quickmba.com websites outline several different global market strategies. These strategies include: exporting, licensing, franchising, foreign direct investment, strategic alliances, and joint ventures. Exporting is “the marketing and direct sale of domestically-produced goods in another country” (quickmba.com 1), and is used more often by small companies, licensing “is best used by those companies that have a component of intellectual property,” (globethoughts.com 1), franchising requires lower startup costs for the franchisor but limits the amount of money that can be made, foreign direct investment “is the direct investment of facilities in the target country” (quickmba.com 3), strategic alliances “are simply a business-to-business collaboration” (globethoughts 3), and joint ventures are the “formation of a third independent company owned but not necessarily managed by the partners” (globethoughts.com 2). After reading and analyzing information on these global marketing strategies, the most appropriate and effective strategy for Temple University’s expansion abroad would be the strategic alliance strategy. The strategic alliance strategy would allow each campus of Temple University to collaborate toward common goals “while remaining apart, distinct,” and independent as......

Disk Redundancy Research Assignment Overview: Using the Internet and the ITT Tech Virtual Library, research the following questions, and provide your thoughts on each one. Submit your answers in a Word Document and ensure that you cite any resources you utilized with the proper APA format. 1. What does RAID stand for? RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks 2. When would we use RAID? 3. Define the following types of RAID: a.RAID 0: Striped Set -- A RAID 0 setup splits data evenly across two or more disks. It is important to note that RAID 0 was not one of the original RAID levels, and is not redundant. If one drive goes down your server will need to be restored from backup b. RAID 1 Mirrored Set -- A Raid 1 setup creates an exact copy (or mirror) of data on two or more disks. A typical setup just has two drives that are setup to mirror data. If one drive goes down your server will still be functional until a scheduled drive replacement can be installed. c. RAID 5 Striped Set with Parity -- A RAID 5 setup uses block-level striping with parity data distributed across all disks in the RAID Array. This means you can have one drive fail and your server will remain functional until a scheduled drive replacement can be installed. RAID 5 also increases read/write speeds while using the available disk space efficiently. d. RAID 6 Similar to RAID 5 but not as widely used, RAID 6 performs either two parity......

... Module 3: Assignment 2: Interview and Background Research 3 Causative factors of the disorder There are two general causes for antisocial personality disorder, genetics and environment. Personality disorders start developing early in life, usually from stressful life events and or abuse. It is believed that there may be link between an early lack of empathy and developing antisocial personality disorder. (Mayo Clinic, 2013) Personality disorders are more commonly thought to be caused from a combination of these two factors. A person born with the certain gene and then neglected is going to make them more likely to develop this disorder. (Butcher, 2010) A study done showed that, “Maternal withdrawal in infancy predicted the extent of ASPD features 20 years later, independently of childhood abuse. In middle childhood, disorganized attachment behavior and maladaptive behavior at school added to prediction of later ASPD features. Antisocial features in young adulthood have precursors in the minute-to-minute process of parent-child interaction beginning in infancy.” (Shi, Bureau, Easterbrooks, Zhao, & Lyons-Ruth, 2012). It is also a possibility that substance abuse can cause this disorder. Substance abuse is very common in those with antisocial personality disorder but it is unclear but a great concern if substance abuse leads to this disorder of vice versa.(Straussner, & Nemenzik, 2007). Unit 2 Research Assignment

...Research Assignment Java is a general-purpose, concurrent, class-based, object-oriented computer programming language that is specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible. It is intended to let application developers "write once, run anywhere" (WORA), meaning that code that runs on one platform does not need to be recompiled to run on another. Java applications are typically compiled to bytecode (class file) that can run on any Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture. Strengths:WORA, popularity Weaknesses: Slower than natively compiled languages Sample syntax: class HelloWorldApp { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello World!"); } } C++ is a programming language that is general purpose, statically typed, free form, multi-paradigm and compiled. It is regarded as an intermediate-level language, as it comprises both high-level and low-level language features. Developed by Bjarne Stroustrup starting in 1979 at Bell Labs, C++ was originally named C with Classes, adding object oriented features, such as classes, and other enhancements to the C programming language. The language was renamed C++ in 1983, as a pun involving the increment operator. Strengths:Speed Weaknesses: Older and considered clumsy if compared to Java Sample syntax: #include using namespace std; void main(){ cout << "Hello World!"; } C# is a multi-paradigm programming language......

Unit 2 Research Assignment

...Unit 2 Research Assignment 1 Chris Stephens ITT Technical Institute PT1420 Introduction to Programming Mr. Chamberlin April 1, 2014 Researching Variable Naming Rules The variable naming rules for Visual Basic, Python, and Java have many different facets to them. These are the most common and most used programming languages in use today. Over the years these languages have become more user-friendly and easier to comprehend to write programs. Visual Basic is most used in introductory program writing and common for students’ first learning of programming. Some of the naming rules for Visual Basic are: the first character of the name must be a letter, you can’t use a space, period, exclamation point, or these special characters - &, @, $, or # in the name, the name cant’ exceed 255 characters in length, and Visual Basic isn't case-sensitive, but it preserves the capitalization in the statement where the name is declared. (Microsoft, 2014) Python provides a special process called the PEP process, short for Python Enhancement Process for changes proposed to Python. (University, 2014) Some of the naming rules for Python are as follows : indentation should be done using four spaces per indentation level, lines should be less than 80 characters as compared to Visual Basic and its use of a maximum of 255 characters, and lines that get too long should be aligned in a “reasonable” fashion, for example aligned with an open delimiter and at a......

Research Assignment 3 Intro to Programming Logic and Design

...Research Assignment 3: Exploring Reverse Engineering • What is reverse engineering? Reverse engineering is the general process of analyzing a technology specifically to ascertain how it was designed or how it operates. This kind of inquiry engages individuals in a constructive learning process about the operation of systems and products. Reverse engineering as a method is not confined to any particular purpose, but is often an important part of the scientific method and technological development. The process of taking something apart and revealing the way in which it works is often an effective way to learn how to build a technology or make improvements to it. When reverse engineering software, researchers are able to examine the strength of systems and identify their weaknesses in terms of performance, security, and interoperability. The reverse engineering process allows researchers to understand both how a program works and also what aspects of the program contribute to its not working. • What are the advantages and disadvantages of using reverse engineering to discover the logics of a software program? Reverse engineering in software is reversing a program's machine code back into it's original source code. The advantages to using this technique is that one can repair certain bugs, see how a program operates, and improve the operation              of the program. The disadvantage is that certain other bugs may be introduced              during this process. ...

B. Significance 1. It serves as a guide for direction during the actual experimentation. 2. It allows a gain of maximum information relevant to the problem at minimum cost. 3. It makes the statistical test of significance valid because it takes into consideration all the assumptions that went into deriving the various statistics. C. General Features The design of an experiment depends on the type of research undertaken and the nature of the conditions under which study is done. The design of an experiment is dictated by the question it is to answer. There is no common blueprint that will serve as a guide in writing a research design. Each problem requires its own unique design. A research design contains the following sections: I. Introduction A. Background of the Study B. Statement of the Problem C. Significance of the Study D. Scope and Limitation of the Study II. Review of Related Literature III. Methodology IV. Time Table V. Proposed Budget ...
