1. Facebook has advanced so much over the past year. What was a simply profile based online communication site, is now a HUGE marketing outlet. I have gained personal experience from this application. My sister and I own a clothing boutique names “Charmed Southern. We sell women’s clothing and accessories. We got our start through facebook. Why? It’s a huge market, and the basics are free. Facebook offers much more than the basics now. They allow you to boost posts, and boost those posts to specific audiences (ex. when boosting a post you can tag it to various categories: women, fashion, clothing, small business, age, etc) Facebook is a valuable resource in that it allows you to target people who would more likely be interested in the product or service you are offering. Overall am amazing application, with so much customization. You are also able to keep track of how many people view you page, share you page, like you page and the demographics of those groups.

2. I so much enjoyed the information I learned from salesforce.com. I did not know this existed until now, and believe that could be a useful resource for my small business. The site mentioned the importance of listening and analytic systems. You are able to see what people are talking about, what they think of your business, what is most popular, and other interesting facts that can really help you in social media and online posting. It is important to be in he knowhow and to use information, such as SalesForce, to make your business appealing to today’s customers or clients. If you can modle your business what peoples interests, you can accomplish things.

3. The Coca-Cola commercial leverages Experience. From the commercials start to finish it is also all about a “feeling”, instead of a sales pitch. Coca-Cola does an amazing job or making their customers feel good. They very much advertise and “experience”, not just a purchase. Like the campaign from the YouTube video, they are offering you the experience of connection with people all across the world. You forget the money, and focus on the experience. It is am amazing concept, and one that has proven to be successful. On the same note Coca-Cola prints notes of addresses to various audiences. It is engaging, and makes customers feel as though they are a part of someone more than just “buying cola”.

4. From my search on Monster.com I found a job listing for Digital Marketing Manager at Wellmont Health System. I think that would be a very interesting job. First, you do not typically associate marketing/social media with healthcare, but it plays a vital role. It would be so interesting to take the knowledge you have learned from gaining a degree from your university and using that to engage with your community. There is such a connection that could be made with audiences, if there was a larger focuses on social media. Most people use some form of social media. So if you ensure people are reading about you, hearing good things at the hospitals, seeing nice posts, when something traumatic happen your company will be the first to come to their mind and will be their first choice in service.…...

...The Alli drug only has online support and not personal support. Also since Metabical is a prescription drug you would know exactly what dose to take as opposed to OTC drugs where you can take as many as you want. The FDA approval would give it an edge over the herbal OTCs proving it to be the safest among them, with the least side effects. For best positioning it is crucial to make it evident to the consumer that Metabical is not a magic pill; it does not target obese or normal weight range patients. One should not expect unrealistic results. However the problem with this kind of broad benefit positioning is that it does not target the segments: high income vs low income segments, educated vs uneducated, etc… we talked about in the answer to question 2. Therefore in order to target all segments it is best to develop the integrated marketing communication strategy IMC to make all segments aware of Metabical’s advantages, and place in the market. 4. Given the position strategy you chose, what would be your communications strategy to each of your target audiences? Would you change the marketing budget or the IMC mix? If so how? What would the timeline for your communications plan look like? Since Metabical is a new product that needs to be launched the message should stress realistic expectations with respect to patients. The fact that it is only effective for overweight patients i.e. BMI 25-30 should also be clearly pointed out because credibility is important in......

...discriminating characteristics of 'successful' vs. 'unsuccessful' entities. Most of these models have been developed by firms that were able to put together a database on successful vs. unsuccessful products or businesses. At the product and SBU level, there have also been significant efforts to develop cross-industry databases. Themost popular ones are the NEWPROD model for product screening [Cooper, 19881, and the PIMS database for business screening and evaluation [Buzzell & Gale, 19871. A comparison of the NEWPROD cross-industry model with a customized industry-specific model developed by a pharmaceutical firm suggests that an industry-specific approach leads to better predictions. Yet, given the speed and cost at which one can get an answer from one of the cross-industry databases, both types of screening models have their role. Process models. These are the most popular of the models used in the corporate strategy area. Most strategy hooks [Lorange, 1980; Day, 1986; Aaker, 19921, propose a process-flow model for strategy development. Approval was given not only by both institutions but also by their respective lecturers. A number of classes were selected for the survey over a period of two months, in March and April 2004. ...MKTG 396 Assignment 2 1.) The criticisms of an individual consumer to the statement made by Pepsi about its campaign largely depends on how informed the consumer is about the Pepsi Refresh Program. If the consumer has not heard of the campaign before then they have no emotional or moral appeal towards it. The message content then is lost on them and they have no reason or driving force to buy the product. The statement could also be seen as false advertising or deceiving if not much is known about the program. How will it help to move the country forward? The target customer may misunderstand the message or give it a different interpretation. Even if the consumer is somewhat aware of the program they may be critical of the time frame of it. How long does PepsiCo plan on running this program for or what kind of real impacts will the individual consumer have by just buying a single product? 2.) In the societal classification of products Pepsi would be a pleasing product. The reason it is a pleasing product is because it has a high immediate satisfaction but may hurt consumers in the long run. (Tastes good but its not very good for you). In order to address this challenge Pepsi has implemented a number of strategies. The first would be introducing somewhat healthier options within the PepsiCo brand. Some of these choices include diet sodas, water, sports drinks and food products like oatmeal. The biggest strategy however is their focus on being more socially......

These influences include: economic, social, or political factors. Migration projections often utilise past trends and current policies due to the fact that it is the hardest to predict. Migration is often seen to have a large impact on long-term population growth. Migration can also be hard to predict as it can not only decline, but also become a negative figure, resulting in emigration. Q2. Mortality and Standardisation a. What type of standardisation method is used for estimating the Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratios-HSMR (i.e. Direct or Indirect)? Please provide explanation to your answer and write down how HSMR is defined and calculated. The standardisation method used for estimating the hospital standardised morality ratios is an indirect method. This is seen as the hospital standardised morality ratios utilise particular age groups and the estimated rates are standardised across each age group. Indirect standardisation is also vital as it is applicable to mortality amongst sub populations using age specific ratio. The hospital standardised mortality ratio was introduced to be a global indicator that could be used for comparing mortality rates between hospitals that differ state or national levels. The Hospital standardisation method compares the recorded number of mortalities within in a given hospital with the......

Statutory laws are laws made by legislative bodies. An example of this discussed in the chapter is cigarette littering. 42. Externalities are costs that don’t show up as part of the market price for a product. What is an example of an externality? 43. Why does the government intervene in marketplace transactions? Why have most of us come to expect and accept government intervention in our economic activities? * There is, of course, no single answer to this question, but our discussion of the negative externalities of smoking leads us to one of the more important explanations: government may intervene in economic activity to “correct” market failure. 44. The rule of law encourages “efficiency” in the sense that it requires us to act within certain well‑defined limits, and it prohibits activities that take place outside those limits—such as stealing resources—because they make the process of allocating resources more wasteful and expensive. 45. Why are contracts and their enforcement important to society? * As this illustration suggests, contractual relationships are the building blocks of a modern economy. ...those and even if they are aware of these choices, they would be confused on choosing them. And all these will lead to chaos and confusion in the simple decisions being made and hence today‘s consumer will make the same mistake as the fabled mother. If every person has to think for a minute before making a decision to buy any product, then imagine how miserable life will be. Won‘t we find it hard to ask the shopkeeper for a cool drink instead of simply asking for a Coke? Is it not hard to ask the shopkeeper for a substance that sticks furniture while you can easily ask for Fevicol? We don‘t buy products which satisfy our needs, we buy brands which satisfy our needs and without these brands are we not lost? All these questions bring us to one answer that everyone has to invariably agree with – Without marketing, there is no choice. The Inherent Change: Innovations are successful only with the audience to accept it. Many innovations would have failed if consumers did not appreciate and adopt them. And how do they come to know of what new is being offered. It is marketing! 8 Without marketing, there is no concept of a new player. All the ideas though potentially effective will meet the fate of being tagged as good for nothing creations. No one will be able to appreciate these innovations except the makers themselves. This will lead to monopolistic or oligopolistic markets which none of us would desire. There will be no investment in R&D for fear of poor ROI. Change will......
