SUPPLY AND DEMAND
Case Assignment
Write a 4- to 5-page essay that addresses the following FOUR questions on the market for milk. (For this Case, keep it simple; don't worry about different brands, etc.)
1. Explain what happens to price and quantity of milk when the following events occur (you do notneed to analyze the event itself but rather determine the effect of the event on supply and demand of milk):
a. A scientific study shows that consumption of milk is beneficial for healthy bones.
b. There is an outbreak of mad cow disease.
c. The price of almond milk decreases.
d. In order to promote healthy families, a price ceiling on milk is implemented.
2. Suppose Johnny drinks 4 cups of milk every day no matter what the price. What kind of elasticity does it have?
3. Suppose that when the price of milk increases by 40%, the percentage change in quantity demanded by consumer is reduced by 10%. Calculate the elasticity.
4. Based on your answer to Question 3, What happens to total revenue when the price of milk is increased. Why?
Some helpful suggestions on completing the assignment:
For each event, you must specify how it effects either demand, quantity demanded, supply, or quantity supplied. It is also important to demonstrate how the change will affect the market demand or supply curve. Also, be sure to state any assumption you are making regarding the relationship of the event and milk.
Here is an example of the best way to answer question #1 above:
Event: Price of cereal decreases.
Assume that cereal is a complement for complement. If cereal is cheaper, then the consumer will increase quantity demanded of cereal. If consumers buy more cereal, then there will be an increased demand for milk…...

Supply and Demand Week 2

...Supply and demand is constantly changing for different products and services for a number of reasons. The good I chose to write about is the laptop I purchased to be used for school. The following are factors that could cause possible changes in the supply and demand of laptops on the market. When looking at the supply aspect of a laptop from manufacturers’ one factor that could change the supplied amount would be the cost to produce the item. If the cost to produce a laptop was to increase too much the supply may go down. Another factor would be the demand of the laptop. As long as there is demand for the laptop than the supply should be available however if the demand was to drop than the supply of the laptop could drop as well. The price of a laptop or the changes in a person’s income could lead to a change in the demand for a laptop. Technology and competition are two other factors that could affect not only supply but also demand. There are always competing companies who are coming out with the “latest and greatest” forms of technology that could move the demand for a laptop to another comparable item or a substitute. A few substitutes for a laptop that could ultimately change the supply the demand of a laptop are smart phones and I pads. When purchasing a laptop there are a few items that complement the purchase which ultimately would raise the demand for these products as well. First one that comes to mind is software. Even though I purchased my laptop......

...Running head: MODULE 2 – WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT 2 Module 2 – Written Assignment 2 Thomas Edison State College   Module 2 – Written Assignment 2 This paper describes why search engines and databases produce different types of queried results. Two (2) separate search tools were used and this paper attempts to explain why there are differences in search results obtained from each search tool and evaluate the quality of their search results.   Module 2 – Written Assignment 2 Searching for information via the Internet will always produce invariable results. This notion can be exaggerated depending upon the tools one uses to query for information. That is not to say that the Internet cannot be used as a valuable research tool. On the contrary, studies have been conducted to support the use of Internet-based research in many fields, including the medical field (Ahern, 2005). While the Internet search engine can be a powerful tool for research, it should be noted that not all search engine tools are created equal. Different Internet search engines will in fact return different results. Therefore, great care must be taken to ensure that the appropriate search engine is chosen for the job. Some of the different types of search engines include: Crawlers, Directories, Meta, Hybrid and Specialty. Search query options enable users to refine their searches in an attempt to find more relevant information. These particular options vary according to the search......

Supply and Demand

...Module 2 Written Assignment – Supply and Demand Cori Travers Rasmussen College Author Note This research is being summited on October 20, 2013 for Instructor Troy Stang’s B136/GEB1011 Section 21 Introduction to Business course Supply and Demand McDonalds, a globally acclaimed company, uses the factors of supply and demand every day to determine the impact of their operations. Supply is the availability of an item, while demand is the want or need to have that item (Solomon, Poatsy, Martin 2010). So what are the factors that determine supply and demand? Factors that affect supply are technology changes, changes in resource prices, price expectations, number of supplier’s, the price of substitute goods (Solomon, Poatsy, Martin 2010). Similarly, the factors that affect demand which are changes in income levels, population changes, consumer preferences, complementary goods and substitute goods affect how much the customer is willing to pay for the product (Solomon, Poatsy, Martin 2010). These factors can determine how much and at what price McDonald’s is willing to supply a product to a consumer. A main factor of supply that affects McDonald’s operation of business is resource prices. If a required resource to produce a product commands a high price, production costs will likewise be high, and the company will be less willing to supply their product (Solomon, Poatsy and Martin 2010). For example, consider that the price of beef increase – the increased cost of beef......

What legal arguments could be raised by Sudson in support of the enforcement of the automatic renewal clause against Letisha? Explain. Sudson can argue that the lessee was feigning ignorance on her part and that is why she says that she was not aware of the contract terms. The lesser did engage the lessee in talking business and since she already is a businesswoman who engages others in written contracts as a landlord she should have known better than to sign a document that she had not read. If a products demand is high and the supply is low then the price will increase, because people are buying large quantites of the product and if supply is high and the demand is low, It’s probable that people are not buying the product at that time so the price will generally be lower than it would if people were buying a large amount of the product.
