My Choice, Not the Governments Imagine being a ten year old innocent little girl and being pregnant. An innocent little girl was raped by her own stepfather and became impregnated. Her mother and stepfather were arrested and taken to jail. This little girl is now alone and forced by her country to have this child. She was denied to choice to have an abortion. At ten years old little girls have baby dolls that they play with, feed, and put them to bed. But does that make a child fit to have a child. Abortion should be a choice, a female choice, not the governments. The debate over abortion began January 22, 1973 in Roe v. Wade, but still many states were against abortion. In 1821, Connecticut passed their first law in the United States to have abortions by giving poison to women after the fourth month of their pregnancy. Back in the day abortions were so looked down upon that it was unheard of. Now in every 10 unintended pregnancies 4 are aborted. So approximately 1.21 million abortions happen in the United States according to Operation Rescue. Abortion should be a choice by the women and not by a man run government. In Paraguay abortion is illegal with the only exception being threat to the life of the expecting mother. If anyone were to have an abortion they are facing 15 to 30 months of prison. If anyone were to added pressure or even force an abortion on a women they are facing 2 to 10 years of prison. As you can see in this country abortion is not taken lightly. Paraguay is more than 80% Catholic. Their law on abortion is not just what their constitution commands, but what their religious views command. Paragraph Four (may need another one or two paragraphs for this section of the essay): In this section or paragraph you will discuss your point or argument. You will compare the two showing the similarities and differences. This is where your opinion will be made clear, and the reader will understand exactly what you are trying to say. You can discuss the pros and cons of both and why you think one is better than the other. Be sure to back up your opinions with facts from your research. Abortion should be a choice made by the female carrying life. Abortion is a personal choice, not a government choice. Women should be trusted. They should be trusted to make a choices, trusted to make a choice on their own bodies and trusted to know what is best for them and their families. No one should have to raise a child at 10 years old without given the choice to.…...

Conservative or Liberal: My Choice

...Conservative or Liberal: My Choice Angela J Flemister Liberty University Conservative or Liberal: My Choice A political ideology is a closely linked set of beliefs about politics. Political ideologies offer their adherents well organized theories that propose goals for the society and the means by which those goals can be achieved. (Americian Government pg.18) The two most common ideologies that come to my mind are the conservatism and liberalism, to in nonprofessional terms Republican and Democrat. The two parties differ in what they believe. The beliefs of one are totally opposite to the next. George Lakoff (Moral Politics) penned this book which simply asks “How Liberals and Conservatives think. In my reading of some of the book I was able to easily identify my personal political ideology immediately. Professor Whitham instructed class to research the elected officials in my district. Phil Gingrey and David Scott. The two could not be anymore different than they actually are as Congressman Gingrey is white and Congressman Scott is black. The color of the skin really should not matter but honestly we all know that at some point in time when an issue is presented and needs to be addressed by a vote there is some wrangling be it truth or not, race intervenes. The voting records of my elected officials provided an insight to their ideologies. By viewing the many interest groups it became evident that there is not a non-partisan accumulation of the facts. ......

The Choice

...When I was 10, my parents made a choice uproot my family and emigrate to the United States. Little did I know at the time, that this would be one the most important factors that shaped who I wanted to be. Being in a completely foreign country and learning the idiosyncrasies of American culture, I began to understand that the hard decision my parents made wasn't so difficult but to them, seen as a necessity for the future of their four children to succeed. From this, my parents have greatly shaped who I am today and through their actions, given me the basic necessities I needed to create a life greater than I could have ever imagined as a child moving to an unfamiliar place. I was able to learn the value of sacrifice when it came to making a decision to benefit a larger group- in this case, my parents were selfless yet very mindful in the decision to put the future of their family ahead of their own individual goals and wishes. Twenty five years ago, my parents made a choice for our family. They left a familiar life in their homeland and came to the United States where they maintained a small store which helped me learn the fundamentals of small business which I was able to utilize in my roles at larger companies like Colosseum and The Walt Disney Company. This was their sacrifice and I will forever be changed and grateful of this sacrifice....

Choices

...Theme and Narrative Elements in the Short Story Did I make the right choice? There are always at least two choices. In the short story ‘The Road Not Taken’, by Robert Frost, 1916; the theme is clearly spelled out as life choices. Living life in the fast lane or living day by day is important. In this short story the last line solidifies that the author chose the right road. There is no rule book to dictate what is right or wrong when speaking in terms of someone questioning and reflecting on whether they have taken the right road for them. “I took the one less-traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” Frost, 1916. There is a sense of melancholy in this short story that pulls at my nostalgic heart strings. I wonder while reading whether or not I will be “telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled by.” Frost, 1916. As the plot is built I am drawn to believe that perhaps this is a present situation and I imagine a person standing at the fork of these two paths quietly pondering while weighing the options of which way would be the better choice. The reason I get both a nostalgic and present situation feel is because the story is told in a first person point of view. The story starts off making me envision the previously mentioned image of the person weighting the options. The nostalgic portion of it comes to me towards the end of the story when the author states that he......

Choices

...Choices: An analyses on how your decisions or peoples decisions can affect your life As we go through life everyone is searching to find out who we really are as a person. This process can take many years, and in the end we may truly never find our identity. In that process you will go through many obstacles and road blocks, but these are what defines you as a person. In the short story “How to slowly kill yourself and others in America” by Kiese LayMon is about this man who grows up in Mississippi and he explains all of his close counters of almost getting shot, and all the disappointment he has brought on others. In the poem “A Soldier Lives” by Robert West is about how the government treats the dead soldiers, and how they just keep recruiting more and more to replace each fallen comrade. Both stories show betrayal, and in each story they are facing a adversity that will help shape there life in either a bad or good way. Most people don’t think that higher authority would betray them. They believe they will protect them, but not in these cases. In both short stories they face betrayal from higher authority. “They zero in on the eyes of Mama, as Harmon tells her that I am being suspended from mill says for at least a year for taking and returning Red Badge of Courage from the library without formally checking it out”(Laymon 243). Laymon identifies that he knows he did something wrong by not checking the book out properly, but he cant believe he is getting......

My Choice Pro Choice

...Anglia Sagely English 1020 Mr. Joshua Mills My Choice, “Pro Choice” Our Bodies, Ourselves for the New Century gives a brief description and history over abortion. Abortion is one of the most sensitive issues occurring all through the early history of the world. Abortion did not only effect the poor, it was also seen throughout all society and cultures. The procedures were all different in how they were performed, depending on the level of care available to the practices. Different societies shunned this practice and women began seeking any means possible. People all around the world had strong opinions on this subject, which have been constantly changing. In 1982, ten to 18 percent of the world’s population resided where the procedure of abortion was illegal. If abortion was legal for restrictive use only, it should be used when the mother’s life is in danger. Surveys done by the United States National Library of Medicine during 1965 showed great change in the attitude toward abortion. The public was accepting the pregnancy termination. Roe vs. Wade was one of the most important points in the history of abortion. This Supreme Court Case decision made in 1973 legalized abortion. Recent polls show little change in public opinion since 1972-1973. Over eighty to ninety percent of Americans are for abortions for mothers in poor health, rape, defective fetus and forty to fifty percent approve for other reasons. Ten percent of Americans want abortion to be......

My Choices

...Choice of Ending the Cycle Lawrence Miller Jr. Composition I Instructor Hewlett April 25, 2015 When does the cycle come to an end? Better yet do I start the process to change the cycle? I sit for days on end, trying to collect my thoughts of what I picture my life would be like, rather than the images of my childhood. Images of my mother being beaten by my father, will forever be a stained memory in my brain. Missing out on growing up with my siblings, because of the choices I made. The only solution my mother could come to was sending me away. This cycle of being a deadbeat father, uneducated, abusive and alcoholic now I was carrying the burden on my shoulders. One day I said I can’t continue down this path. After all the headaches, stress, endless jobs my decision became very clear, college is the final decision. I realize if I want to strive for greatness and become a solid provider, role model for my family, secondary education is required. My days as a child, I could remember sitting in my room dreaming of what I wanted my life to be like. I told myself I would have a family, house and awesome job. Over the years my dreams started to become further near. As I begin to look over my life I realized, I was following the same path as my parents. It began when I had my first child at 18, just as my father had me. The cycle had begun, I wasn’t even aware that my life was about to go down a winding path. Birth is the beginning of life, as a newborn you are a......

Government

...The way I would define “government” would have to be, the group of people who control and make decisions for a country/state, or a particular system used for controlling a certain country/state. For example, the United States’ government is a federal republic and a constitutional representative democracy. Now, for advantages and disadvantages of a “government”, this could vary by the different types of governments such as: our government (what I just stated), dictatorship, monarchy, and etc. Some of the advantages of our government are: #1-It protects the interests of citizens, which we have the right to vote on political, social, and economical issues as well as the representatives that they want to be in charge of major decisions (like the President) & #2-It promotes equality, which means that all members of a country or a state are equal in the eyes of the law. Every individual has the right to enjoy and experience equal economic, political, and social rights and the state is not allowed to discriminate citizens on the standard of sex, property, and religion. Now, some of the disadvantages of our government are: #1-The misuse of time and funds, like lots of money and time go into elections where it could go elsewhere and the possibility of being ruled by irresponsible and incompetent leaders who just waste public funds for their recreations and tours & #2-Wrong choice, not all individuals are aware of political and social circumstances in the country which could be...

...Nursing the Career of My Choice Name University Affiliation Nursing the Career of My Choice The healthcare unit has been undergoing crucial changes as it is the case with the nursing career. The patient care is behind the complexity detected in the nursing profession because the core revolves around the outpatient, primary and hospital care settings. The roles of nurses are still evolving to specialized personnel in the medical team from simple caregivers. For instance, a trained BSN nurse can operate in all health care settings, and has the qualifications to attend to patients in any kind of an environment. Being a BSN nurse is all dreamt to be qualified to do, because the majority of the patients in the hospitals convinced my instincts that I needed to acquire the degree. At the university I realized I had special interest on any knowledge to do with cell biology. Most of the ageing patients and some young patients, accelerated my urge to learn more about the human cells, which is the primary cause of cancer. The fact that the knowledge I was to gain would be of great help to me in helping the patients to learn how to detect, treat, and overcome cancer, I felt like that was my purpose on the planet. As I progressed in my career, my first few patients also build more motivation by making me feel the thirst of helping others, which really helped me throughout. The major motivator, which really drove me into......

My Medical Choice

...My Medical Choice By ANGELINA JOLIEMAY 14, 2013 LOS ANGELES MY MOTHER fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56. She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms. But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was. We often speak of “Mommy’s mommy,” and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us. They have asked if the same could happen to me. I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a “faulty” gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman. Only a fraction of breast cancers result from an inherited gene mutation. Those with a defect in BRCA1 have a 65 percent risk of getting it, on average. Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy. I started with the breasts, as my risk of breast cancer is higher than my risk of ovarian cancer, and the surgery is more complex. Photo On April 27, I finished the three months of medical procedures that the mastectomies involved. During that time I have been able to keep this private and to carry on with my work. But I am writing about......
