Highlight Hair

...HONEY Honey, though very sticky, can actually highlight your hair. You can apply honey straight to your wet hair and leave on for two hours. An alternative method is to mix equal parts of honey, lemon and water in a spray bottle. Apply to damp hair and spend an hour in the sun. You will need to wash your hair twice to get out all the honey. Honey gives hair a lot of bounce and natural highlights. CHAMOMILE TEABelieve it or not, brunettes can get natural golden highlights this summer with chamomile tea. Boil a pot of chamomile tea and allow it to cool completely. Wash and condition your hair normally, then rinse your hair with the tea. Relax outside in the sun with your tea-drenched hair for 30-60 minutes. Repeat every other day until your hair has beautiful natural highlights. OLIVE OILYou may know that olive oil is a fabulous hair conditioner but many people don't realize it can be used as a natural hair lightener too. Comb a generous amount of olive oil through your hair. Spend about an hour in the sun and then wash out the oil. Your hair will not only be naturally highlighted, it will be moisturized too! Repeat three days a week until you achieve the desired highlights. LEMONThe best known of the natural hair highlighters is lemon. Mix 1/4 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice and 3/4 cup of water in spray bottle. Spritz lemon water onto your hair but do not saturate scalp. Leave mixture on your hair for 2 hours, spending at least 30 minutes of that time in the sun.......

Hair Fiber

...What are the pro’s and con’s of hair fiber evidence vs. other types of physical evidence?? Hair and fiber evidence can be serious to an investigation. In most cases, these alone cannot offer a helpful identification of a suspect, but these laboratory techniques can be helpful in narrowing down a list of suspects. When collecting hair evidence, it is extremely important to make sure that all hairs come from the same area of the body. This is because the physical characteristics of hair differ in different parts of the body. If a person tries to compare head hair to pubic hair, for instance, a match will probably not be made. Most hair comparisons deal with either head or pubic hair. If collecting head hair, a typical sampling can usually by obtained with about 50 full-length hairs. Approximately two dozen full-length pubic hairs are needed for a good sample. It is necessary to collect the entire length of each strand of hair, because a hair can show variation in color or other physical characteristics throughout the strand. If the size or the length of each piece of hair falls below the minimum, it can be very difficult to form any connections based on the evidence. When collecting fibers, careful examination of all fiber carriers is imperative. It is important to have somebody at the scene to specifically look for fiber clues because this kind of evidence cannot be seen with the naked eye. Clothing that could contain fibers should be bagged separately in paper bags. Every......

Effects of Hair Die on Hair

...The Anatomy and Chemistry of Hair and Hair Dye Many different plant extracts were used for hair dye in Europe and Asia before the start of modern dyes. Indigo, known primarily as a fabric dye, could be combined with henna to make light brown to black shades of hair dye. An extract of the flowers of the chamomile plant was long used to lighten hair. The bark, leaves, or nutshells of many trees were used for hair dyes. Wood from the brazilwood tree yielded brown hair dyes. Another hair dye was derived from a tree similar to the Mulberry tree. Other dyes were produced from walnut leaves or nut husks. Some of these plant-derived dyes were mixed with metals, such as copper and iron, to produce more lasting or richer shades. Outside of the many colors that hair can be dyed, there are many different method used to color hair. Hair dye and the hair coloring process is a matter of chemistry. The first safe commercial hair color was created in 1909 by French chemist Eugene Schuller. He used the chemical Paraphenylenediamine. Hair coloring is the result of a series of chemical reactions between the molecules in hair, pigments, as well as peroxide and ammonia. The choice of which method to use will depend on the desired shade and longevity of the color. Temporary hair dye lasts for between one to three washes. This type of hair coloring involves no chemical reactions within the hair. Pigments are applied to the surface of the hair, without penetrating any further. These are easily......

...key in fighting dry hair. The baggy method is a good way to do this. At night, comb or finger comb through your hair, dividing it into several sections. Apply a moisturizing agent on your hair's ends, working it in with your hands or comb so that they're saturated. Good moisturizers include plain olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter and sweet almond oil. However, if you have a commercial product that works well at keeping your hair soft and supple, use that. You may also want to use a leave-in conditioner first, and apply oil on top of it. After applying your product, place a plastic bag (sandwich size or smaller is suitable) over your ends and secure the bag with a rubber band. Make sure the band is over the bag and not on your hair -- you don't want the elastic tugging at your hair all night. A variation on this is the ponytail method, which you can use if you either don't have time to separate your hair into different sections or just prefer a simpler way to baggy. Pull hair into a loose ponytail and moisturize your ends. Apply a bag to the ends and secure. Cover your hair as you normally would for nighttime protection and remove the bags in the morning. Over the Entire Head Maybe you need an overall moisturizing treatment. The baggy method works for an entire head, too. Comb or finger comb through your hair well. Apply products listed above, but instead of only focusing on the ends, work them through your entire head of hair. Wrap your hair around your......

Hair Research

... Abstract Hair and health have an existing relationship, yet little is known about the relationship between stylist hair care practices and encouragement of self-care in the African American community. The hair cosmetic industry has undergone a revolutionary change over the last two decades, dramatically veering from merely cleaning to repair, increasing the tensile strength, reducing oxidative damage, and stimulating growth. Unfortunately, the psychological and physical consequences of improper hair care by stylists have resulted in “hair stress” in the African American community (Winfield, 2008). The problem under investigation is what are physical and psychological processes of growing healthy African American hair, where people look good on the outside and feel good on the inside. This study utilizes a content analysis approach for using YouTube tutorials to support the “Growing Hands Theory” that encourages proper hair care practices related to physical and mental health for people of African descent. Core Concept Definition Healthy Hair Healthy hair is a result of hair care and self-care. Hair care varies from different hair types because all hair is not the same, but all hair benefits from individuals having appropriate nutrition, hydration, exercise, stress management, and restorative sleep. Strausfogel (2013), focuses on internal and external strategies for better hair growth. Many of these products that......

...economy at all. Instead, they focus on the competition China has created, especially for the developed world, or the jobs many believe China has “stolen.” However, even those who realize, or even directly benefit from, China’s advance still can’t but feel uneasy about that advance. But why is that? Why do we fear a rising China in a way we don’t a rising India? Or why is an economically powerful China less acceptable than, for example, a stronger Europe? Beaten by a Hair

...Introduction The case I chose to write on is based on a DVD that we watched in class called ‘Beaten by a hair’. In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home. After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to the missing pillow case in the woman’s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators had to find out who left the house that morning. I am interested in this case because it was very intriguing how the forensic officers put all the pieces together and discovered the missing woman and her murderer. It was also interesting that if the forensic officers had not gone through every single hair fiber on the brush they had found, they could not have had enough evidence to convict the killer. Science and Methods Used In this case there were many different scientific methods such as an ultraviolet light test, a luminol test, an amido black test, and the use of a highly trained dog. Two main scientific methods used in the solving of this case were hair and DNA analysis and the use of mass spectrometry. When the woman was missing and the only lead the forensic officers had was the bloody pillow case; they had to use various scientific methods in order to solve the case. The forensic...

Healthy Hair

...Natural VS. Chemical Based Hair Britney Jones COM/170 June 30, 2014 ELSIE WALKER Natural VS. Chemical Based Hair Having natural hair is healthier than having chemical based hair. Natural hair and chemical based hair can both be straightened and curled. Natural hair straightening is a hair styling technique used since the 1890’s which involves the flattening and straitening of the hair in order to give it a smooth, streamlined, and sleek appearance. Chemical based hair gets straight by using a harsh hair product called a relaxer. Both hair types can be curled as well. Natural hair is already in a curl like form. But if you want to have more curls you can do different type of hairstyles. Some of the hairstyle are called Bantu knots, straw sets, and rag curls. As for chemical based hair you can do braid out styles and setter waves to get that perfect curl pattern in your hair. Natural hair needs a lot of moisture because it can get dry from being mistreated. Natural hair needs water and natural moisturizers to keep its moisture. To keep moisture in your natural hair you can spray water onto your hair at least twice a week to continue having beautiful moisturized natural hair. You can also use natural moisturizers like coconut milk, coconut oil, raw shea butter, olive oil, and homemade flaxseed gel. Also shampooing your hair gives it moisture too. Remember, shampooing too often strips the hair of its natural oils so be sure not to overdo it! Every other week is......

Hair Emporium

...Rolando and Rosa have been operating their own hair salon for the past six years. They have been very successful and now are interested in franchising their particular hair system throughout the United States. They are aware that the hair care industry is a $16 billion activity in this country. Rolando and Rosa specialize in hair care for women, men, and children, and believe they can provide their services on a profitable basis for other franchisees. Every franchisor and franchisee must keep a set of financial records. Too often the franchisor or franchisee is a beginner, opening a business for the first time, and is not fully aware of what it takes to run a business, particularly from the point of view of managing the finances. I can be a good example to this when I opened my first business about 10 years ago and how I was not prepared from the managing and finance aspect, which led me to sell the business. A franchisor or franchisee may see financial statements as complicated, technical documents prepared by professional accountants and understood only by loan officers. The prevailing attitude may be that financial records are useful only for filing taxes, borrowing money, and reporting to regulatory agencies. The new franchisees must consider that accounting and financial records are basic to any business, franchised or otherwise. Simply put, accounting is a process of measuring and reporting the financial information of the franchise. It is the process by which money...

By being ammonia-free, this keeps the hair and scalp healthy and assures the customers that this product is safe to use anytime. Also it stops hairs from having a faded color look which is easily identifiable with other hair dye products that contains ammonia. A faded color hair indicates that the product has left the hair’s cuticle open, leading to a hair that is brittle and very dry. Another bad thing is that one of the amino acids of the hair, called Tyrosine, gets damaged by any hair......
