Abstract
We now know everyone has a different learning style. I do not believe all people have one type of learning style though. I believe as a company, all employees can benefit from a custom multimodal training. Each intake aspect from the individual learning styles can be tied into one another, for even better employee training!

My Learning Style
What is my learning style? I was happy to take part in this questionnaire, as I find it very accurate. According to the Vark questionnaire, I enjoyed the results page due to the emphasis on words and lists. I always assumed I was a hands-on and visual-type learner. According to the assigned text book’s six cognitive domains or levels of learning, I tend to skip to the fourth step of analysis. Within my own job, I am constantly analyzing how I can personally complete a task as efficiently and accurately as possible. In my line of work, the more efficiently you can complete a task, the fast the provider’s receive their revenue. The best strategies I can use would be utilizing lists for organizational purposes. I would prioritize them from highest to low priority, taking any anxiety stressors away from the work at hand.
For an organization to properly train employees with different learning styles, they will need to analyze each learning style and pull the best qualities from each. I would pull two to three ideas from each style, and implement them together to work as a foolproof training manual.
I will use my organization, a medical billing and coding company, and put together an effective training overview, using the Vark learning styles.
To the benefit of both Visual and Read/Write learners, I would use the following intake methods of utilizing handouts and manuals. Both Visual and…...

...To most of us, learning means an attempt to create a memory that lasts. Like learning new dance steps, foreign language, or remembering people’s names require our brains to store new information. "Learning is...... knowledge or skills acquired through study or by being taught. As cited in the English Oxford Dictionary. 23/10/09 How we all learn depends on our own personal learning style which will be discussed further on. Learning never stops, and is done on a daily basis. Learning on a personal level helps you to gain self confidence allowing you to become more knowledgeable and competent at doing new things. You gain a wider sense of the world and how things work and why. It also gives you the drive and ambition to set yourself new challenges in your life, such as me doing my foundation degree! Learning at a professional level differs from that of a personal learning as you must be open to learning and willing to engage in new learning opportunities. We reflect on our practices, by having staff meetings, appraisals, and analyse where we need to gain a better understanding and do this by attending training courses to enhance our professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes and by keeping us up to date with current frameworks such as EYFS. Within this essay the following will be explained; the relevance of personal and professional learning to myself, what a learning style is, a comparison of Honey & Mumford and Kolb, validity of......

...What is my Learning Style? Josh Hull COLL 100 American Military University Thomas Werner What is my Learning Style? During the course of this essay, I intend to discuss my own personal learning “style” or lack thereof and if the idea of a single “style” being the optimal way to learn. Although many people subscribe to this notion of a person having only one optimal way of learning – or style – I feel that this does not and cannot justly explain the multiple methods that I enjoy using to learn different subjects. I also believe that I cannot be so supremely unique as to be the only person that does not fit within the traditional “learning style” mold, thus leaving the only viable conclusion that most people do not fit within this archaic mold. Unfortunately, this idea of “styles” has been around long enough that most people currently enrolled in any form of a learning institution believe it to be a true principle and wrongly ascribe their shortcomings or successes in any particular subject to this faulty model. Before I begin that discussion, however, I will first explain my reasons for being back in school. After suffering for over a year with horrible unexplained symptoms, I discovered in January of this year that I had Stage II Kidney failure. This was due to the malpractice of a physician. Due to this condition and the affect it has on my breathing, adrenal functions and its progressive nature, I was medically retired from my career in law enforcement. So after......

...My Personal Learning Assessment Virginia Tucker AET: 525 February 26th, 2012 Deborah Hatfield My Personal Learning Assessment Many factors can affect a student’s ability to perform successfully in the classroom. One of these factors is his or her personal learning style. According to Howard Gardner, there are seven distinct learning styles (Gardner, 1985). The first of these styles is known as the “Verbal-Linguistic” Learner. A student with this type of learning style prefers to learn by using words and being vocal in class. He or she will use stories and enjoy question and answer sessions in class settings (Gardner, 1985). As with any learning style, there are problems that may arise with this particular learning style. Some examples include: 1. Difficulty with online classroom learning environments- These students strive on one-on-one interaction with both the instructor and other students. Not having this could greatly affect their learning ability. 2. Not working well with shy individuals in a team setting- “Verbal-Linguistic” learners need social interaction to fully learn a subject being presented to them in a class. These students may burden and or overshadow quieter students who prefer to work in a quieter environment. The second learning style is an “auditory” learner. An “auditory” learner relies on his or her hearing to succeed in the classroom. These students are very particular about their choice of words when speaking inside the......

Title Should Appear Here The purpose of this essay is to examine and assess my learning style inventory. Using specific inventories, I would then seek out to measure my learning capabilities and provide my personal opinion on each one. I would also look into existing themes and determine whether this applies to my case or not. (unnecessary space) One of the main reasons for taking a learning style inventory is to determine my ability to identify how I specifically acquire information. This is connected to my overall objective of pursuing a College degree. Arguably, my participation to in a college/university remains to be essential because it can complement my professional goals and objectives. Likewise, my exposure to College allows the cultivation of skills that would complement my chosen field of expertise. In addition, the academic environment also provides opportunities to establish relationships with peers and develop connections with other people. (unnecessary space) Recognizing my goals in College, I realized the need for understanding my specific learning style. In particular, I chose the Center for New Discoveries in Learning (2012) and the ‘"Index of Learning Styles’" by Felder and Soloman (n.d.). Based from the two outcomes of my assessments, each......

...LEARNING STYLE Edith R. Drebot iNTRODUCTION: How does one define the word learning? Is it through a response to others or is it a response to one's own thoughts? Personally, learning comes in all forms from visual to written to experienced or even by reaction. A look at the word defines a processing of data and acceptance of data for usage. From a standpoint of how I personally reviewed Learning Style, my thoughts are incorporated below. When one pursues further education, one must review the possibilities before entering into the process. On reviewing the pursuit, knew to excel in my field of choice required me to accept and become responsible for more knowledge and training. As the topic took form, I reflected on how best to substantiate and portray the definition of Learning brought a Visual/Graphic with secondary Read/Write Learning Styles. As thoughts became a picture it was one of a wheel. A wheel offered the suggestion of movement, but how does a wheel move and what components make the detail. The primary detail surprised me, but as reflected--when as a child… i.e., the shape of the truck was a rectangle or the shape was a box, brought the memory of a picture. Although I didn’t think I was a Visual/Graphic learner, in truth, I have always been this style. My secondary style Read/Write would help to diversify the Visual/Graphic Learning Style by providing the written form to be visualized as a picture. As the wheel took form, I saw the spokes......

...Learning with Style: Defining Yourself as a Student Mark LeCouter COLL100 American Public University System Heidi McNally Learning with Style: Defining Yourself as a Student Many students have a certain way of learning that comes easiest to them but may not know how to identify and use it to their educational advantage. Some may have trouble with lectures while others may have trouble remembering diagrams. So in theory, whichever learning technique suits you, that undoubtedly is your learning style. I personally believe this to be true. Growing up as mostly a visual but also auditory learner, it made most classes easier to excel in than other students. On another hand, it made the classes that focused more on reading assignments or written instruction much more difficult. If those learning styles were identified earlier in life, it would have affected my studying habits and support foundation leading to a higher success rate in the classes where I struggled. The way a student learns also defines them as a person and has a strong influence on their personality, character, and morals. Students should embrace their learning style but also find ways to strengthen their weaknesses to enhance their overall learning ability. According to the Learning Styles Inventory from The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, visual learning suits me best (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, 2012). Seeing pictures or a movie in your mind to recall certain...

...My Learning Style Anthony Handly College 100 American Military University Dr. Tammy Means Introduction Throughout history in the United States, education has been on the forefront of our communities. Truth be told, people can’t live very successful lives without an education of some type. Being able to speak properly, read, write and conduct mathematics is practically a requirement to survive in society; as these skills are used every day to complete the most minor tasks. The challenge for most individuals today, is not the task of learning itself, but knowing how to learn. Historically children of ages five to eighteen were expected to sit in classrooms, listen to their teachers lecture about a subject, absorb and retain this information, then, recall it when a test is conducted; and sometimes that information was never used again. Fortunately educators, psychologists and other professionals have conducted research and studies concentrating on how people learn. This research proves that there is not just one way to learn. My Learning Style Learning Styles There are several learning styles, each with their own methods and techniques, which various people use to optimize their learning capabilities (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). Of the several different learning styles there are several that I have found are common among current college students. The kinesthetic learning...

...My Learning Style: And How I Have Adapted Every person has a learning style and most of us combine styles. There are three main learning styles; do you know what your style or styles are? The styles are audio learning, which are people who learn best by listening and hearing information. Visual learning or people who learn by seeing things, objects, displays and take note of interesting points that they can relate to. The last style is the tactile learner; the doer’s the people who learn by actually doing things hands on. Based on data taken from two questionnaires “Assessing Your Learning Style” (Kolb, 1984) and “Multiple Intelligences Survey” (McKenzie, 1999) I discovered that my learning style is Kinesthetic or tactile. Let’s discuss how I discovered my learning style and how I adapted to it to benefit my learning experience and I will discuss an example of how I applied this learning style. Identifying your own personal learning style is important not only to ourselves but to our educators to aid in a plan outlining how we as an individual learn most effective. After describing the three basic learning styles and you have a basic understanding let’s concentrate on the tactile learner or the Kinesthetic Learning Style. The tactile learner will take action rather than thinking or planning what action to take. There are many positive attributes to a tactile learner, they usually have very good dexterity, can assemble and disassemble things proficiently and are very......

...My Learning Style Tehran Jones College 100 American Public University System Sharie Adamson According to New Discoveries in Learning, I scored 50% as a Kinesthetic Learner, 25 % as an Auditory Learner and 25% as a Visual Learner. As individuals, we all learn differently. As a college student, we must find the best learning style in order to help us obtain knowledge at the college level. It is difficult to obtain knowledge if we do not know what type of learning style we have. I am seeking my college degree in order to make myself more marketable when I retire from the United States Army. I am also raising the bar for my three children that look up to me. What better way of teaching your children the importance of education then by showing them? I want my kids to know that they can accomplish anything that they put their minds to do. Obtaining my college degree will be a stepping stone for them. My kids will learn by my examples that I have placed (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, 2012). As being a Kinesthetic Learner, I obtain information by hands on learning. If I continue to something hands on, I will grasp the knowledge in an effective way. The hands on process encourages my brain to process the information more effectively. This learning style allows me to process information and recreate what I have obtained (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning, 2012). I was surprised that Auditory Learner was not my......

...What is my Learning Style? What Is My Learning Style? COLL100 American Military University Everyone has their own individual reasons for pursuing a college degree. Though college can be difficult at times in many ways then one financially academically personally physically etc. For me this is my third year in college and I have to say in those three years I have found [myself questioning if getting my college degree is worth it or if I should just drop out. But I have to keep remember why I’m doing this is the first place ill make more money with a degree it will also increase my job opportunities as well as open future opportunities that I may not be considering now. My mother always told me you want to make yourself more marketable, and getting my degree I will make me more marketable. Like I was saying above the reason I'm seeking a college degree is because in today’s world a lot of companies or businesses require that you have some type of college degree. Not saying you can't build a career without a college degree because I know some people can and have. I think I would have a better opportunity at getting a better paying job with a college degree. ...Learning Styles and Strategies  My learning style is generally well balanced between active, reflective, sensing and intuitive learning. However, I have a more moderate preference toward the visual learning over verbal and the sequential over global learning.  The results of my test did not surprise me. I realize that I comprehend better when shown how to do something over reading directions from a text. I feel the assessment of my test was very valid and the questions that were asked were relative to the process. I believe that my test results were very accurate.  As a learner the instructional strategies that work best for me are the visual along with sequential and I would use these in a classroom with games, graphs, pictures, charts, films, and other tools.  To help students that do not learn in the same way, an instructor must incorporate other strategies in the classroom to accommodate each of the different learning styles. This would include using the reflective learning style by giving the student a chance to think about a subject and come to a conclusion to bring to class a discussion. It would also include addressing the verbal learning style by assigning reading material of different types the student could address in class.  An evaluation quiz could be used in the classroom utilizing each learning style to access the different learning styles of the students, giving the instructor information about her students learning skills. This information......

...INTRODUCTION: A belief in learning styles is not necessary to incorporating useful knowledge about learning into one's teaching. Within the assignment there will be a discussion of the reasons why learning styles beliefs are so prevalent. Secondary resources were used to gather the information. A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources. Secondary sources may have pictures, quotes or graphics of primary sources in them. Some types of secondary sources include: • PUBLICATIONS: Textbooks, magazine articles, internet articles, histories, criticisms, commentaries and encyclopaedias (Wilde, R. 2008). LITERATURE OVERVIEW ON LEARNING: The David A. Kolb styles model is based on the Experiential Learning Theory (ELT), as explained in his book Experiential Learning: Experience as the source of learning and development (Kolb, D.A. 1984). The ELT model outlines four approaches: Concrete Experience and Abstract Conceptualization, Reflective Observation and Active Experimentation (Kolb, D.A. 1981). According to Kolb’s model, the ideal learning process engages all four of these modes in response to situational demands. In order for learning to be effective, all four of these approaches must be incorporated. As individuals attempt to use all four approaches, however, they tend to develop strengths in one experience-grasping approach and one experience-transforming approach. The resulting learning styles are combinations of the individual’s preferred approaches......

...Why one should know one's learning style? Humans absorb information and learn new concept through a variety of methods utilizing their senses such as touch, visual and auditory, and as such there are several leaning styles that one can incorporate. Knowing one's preferred learning style can lead to a more efficient and thorough understanding of information and concepts the person is attempting to learn. It is important and necessary for one to become familiar with their own style for maximum retention and confidence in the learning process. Keep in mind, styles can coexist and merge with more than one being used at a time, with each reinforcing the other . “Learning styles are different and unique ways used by individual as they prepare to learn and recall information, so it is also important to know this in order to tailor a teacher's teaching methodology to suit his students."( Ranganath, 2015). According to the Vark's questionnaire, there are several learning styles that helps my learning by suggesting the strategies I should be using such as "visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic."( Fleming). Visual Learner " A Visual learner can remember and achieve the best results by looking at the pictures, images, movies, and demonstrations by the teacher or conducted oneself." (" (Felder, 2015). An example that comes to mind is a physiology and anatomy class where an anatomy mannequin was used as a display for all the students to......

To finish the essay I will evaluate how personal learning and development may benefit others. Theory of learning Kolb and his experiential learning cycle This theory has two different levels; four stage cycle of learning, and four separate learning styles. Learning cycle 1. Concrete Experience – when a learner encounters a new experience or a different interpretation of something they’ve already experienced. 2. Reflective Observation- Of particular importance are any inconsistencies between experience and understanding. 3. Abstract Conceptualization- gives rise to a new idea, or a modification of an existing abstract concept. 4. Active Experimentation- the learner applies them to the world around them to see what results. ...My learning style When I first started to revise and learn for my learning style, I did two questionnaires called honey and Mumford and the preferred learning style. The first questionnaire I did was the honey and mumford questionaairs which was made up of 80 questions and for each statement there was a tick box to determine which one best suited my personality. After completing the 80 questions I added up which questions I ticked into a table. Depending on how many I ticked detrmined what sort of leanrer I was. There are four rows of numbers which were used and under each row there was the type of learner. It was either Activist, reflector, theorist and pragmatist. After answering the questions I found out I was an activist. From this I am someone who likes to take risks and also is spontaneous. Instaed of being logical with ideas I prefer to take a trial and error approach. II would rather do a task and get lots of mistakes so that I can re do my work so that I can learn how to improve my work for the next occasion that I do a similar piece of work. However because I have poor time management I struggle to priortise my work and focus on whats needs to be done and as a result I get stressed. The preferred learning style is where if I get a statement and I decide wheather I agree with it or not. After completing it I found that I am a kinaesthetic learner. This means when I learn I like having a visual stimulus to help me and I like having a reward for hard work if I earn...
