Student ePortfolio Guide
An ePortfolio is an electronic (web-based) version of a portfolio, similar to what an artist would use to showcase his or her work. By creating an ePortfolio you will have an opportunity to showcase your skills, achievements and learning at ITT Tech in a way that is easily shared with potential employers and others for whom you might want to display your work.

As part of your program of study, you will create an ePortfolio and upload at least one assignment from each course taken. Instructors will then view your ePortfolio in order to evaluate these assignments.

General Information: * Instructions for creating ePortfolios begin on the next page of this document. You can also access several useful videos on how to create and use ePortfolios here: http://www.foliotek.com/demos (Scroll down to “Presentation – Getting Started”)

* You can create multiple portfolios on your ePortfolio account.

* Your ePortfolio account includes a file repository where you will store files like course papers, reports, projects, photos, and videos. These files can then be attached to any portfolio page you create.

* You can share (show) your portfolio(s) to an individual person, a group, or the general public.

Check each of the following to make sure your ePortfolio assignment is ready to be graded: * Upload your assignment to the file repository. Label it by the course number and assignment name. * Add the assignment to the “Course Portfolio Assignments” page of your ePortfolio. This is where your instructor will look to find the assignment. * Click “Save” and “Merge with Shared” (top right of portfolio screen) to ensure new uploads can be viewed by those with whom you have shared your ePortfolio.

ACCESSING ePORTFOLIO * From the ITT Tech Student Portal, click the “Resources” tab at the top of the page, then click “Student Portfolio.”

CREATING A NEW ePORTFOLIO
Your ePortfolio account allows you to create multiple custom portfolios to suit your needs. Just as differing job searches may require customized résumés or cover letters to highlight the desired attributes of the applicant, individual ePortfolios can be created to present the applicant in the best light for each potential employer. The steps for creating a new portfolio are described below.

* From the ePortfolio Home page, click “Create a Portfolio.” This will take you to the “Build Your Portfolio” page.

* From the “Build Your Portfolio” page, follow the numbered steps to design and save your portfolio.

* Step 1: Select a template from the predefined options provided. Templates offer various choices in color schemes, fonts, background images, and layout of portfolio content. * Step 2: Select a prebuilt pages type. This will automatically create and name the pages of your portfolio for you. For the purposes of graded ePortfolio assignments, students should select “ITT Technical Institute” to ensure that student ePortfolios have a consistent structure and that work for evaluation can therefore be easily located by the instrutor. * Step 3: Use your name as the portfolio name to clearly identify that you are the portfolio owner and creator. * Step 4: Click the button.

EDITING AN ePORTFOLIO
Now that you have created the basic layout of your ePortfolio, you are ready to add and customize content. * Navigate to each page of your portfolio using the menu of portfolio pages. * Add appropriate text to each portfolio page and adjust formatting as desired using the text editing tools. * Upload files to your ePortfolio account and attach to any portfolio page desired.

UPLOADING AND ATTACHING FILES
Your ePortfolio account includes a file repository where you can store any documents, photos, videos, or other files you might choose to share. These files can then be attached to individual pages within your portfolio. Files saved to the repository can be attached to multiple pages within a portfolio as well as within multiple portfolios within your ePortfolio account.
Adding files to your file repository * Click “Files” at the top right of the screen to go to the Files management page.

* Click “Upload Files” or “Upload a new file.”

* Locate and select the file you want to upload, then click “Open” to add your file to the repository.

* Once the file finishes loading, click on “Click to see 1 new file” (orange words, near top of screen).

* Your file will now appear on the File management page.

Adding files to a portfolio page

* From the Home page, click “edit” beneath the portfolio to which you want to attach files.

* From the portfolio page menu, click on the portfolio page to which you want to add files. Students uploading course assignments to be graded by an instructor should always select “Course Portfolio Assignments.” This is where instructors will look for student portfolio work to be evaluated.

* Click the gray “Files” button. Do not click the orange “Files” link at the top of the page as this will take you out of the current portfolio and into the general ePortfolio file repository where files are managed for your entire ePortfolio account.

* A black bar will appear in the middle of the screen containing the files you have uploaded to your file repository.

* Click on the name of a file you want to add to your portfolio. You will see the following:

* Files can be displayed in any area of the page highlighted with a green border. After clicking within the desired area, a “Select View Type” dialogue box will open. * Select “Link to download file” to view the file as a hypertext link. * Select “View the document inline” to view the file as an icon. * Click “Insert File” when finished, or click “cancel” if you choose not to attach the file.

* Click the “Close” tab to return to the portfolio page.

* If your file is a photo you can resize it. To do this, double click on the photo; a black box will appear to the left of the photo. Slide the “Size” bar to the desired size. You can also give your photo a caption, and change the spacing or border around the photo.

Using advanced features * From the Home page, click “preview” beneath any of your portfolios to view how it will appear to someone else viewing it on the web. It is important to preview your portfolio before publishing it to make sure it looks the way you want. Note that clicking on “Preview” will open a new window; you cannot share the portfolio from this page. Click on “Close Preview” at the top of the screen to close the window and return to your ePortfolio Home page.

* The “Gizmos” tool allows you to insert videos, photos, Prezi (presentation) files, a feedback form, or to link to a Twitter account. In order to insert files, you will need to first load them into your file repository. You can then use the Gizmos to arrange them on your portfolio pages.

* The “Pages” tool allows you to change the name of your portfolio pages, or to create new ones.

* The “Design” tool allows you to change the template for a portfolio. When you click on it you see:

* Click on one of the squares to change the template. When you click on a square you see the image below. From here you can also change the layout (where titles and headings appear on each page), background color, and style (formatting titles and headings).

Saving updates to a portfolio * Click “Save” (top right of the screen) to save any changes you have made to your portfolio.

* If you have shared your portfolio with other individuals (see “Sharing an ePortfolio” section below), click “merge w/ shared” to enable them to view your updated content. No updates to a shared portfolio will be visible to others until you have done this.

SHARING AN ePORTFOLIO
One of the great advantages of collecting work in an ePortfolio is that it can easily be shared with others electronically. Your ePortfolio account provides several ways to share a portfolio with others. Two in particular will be described here:

* Share in a Community: Communities are created within the ePortfolio system allowing users to share their work with other community members. This is the primary means by which ITT Tech students will share designated ePortfolio work with their instructors. * Share Privately: Portfolios can be shared with a selected individual (such as a potential employer) by way of private sharing.

Share in a Community
You will share designated course work with your instructor by way of an ePortfolio class community. A unique class community is automatically created for each course section in which you are enrolled. Other members of the class community include your classmates and the instructor. Only your instructor can view portfolios shared within the class community.

* To share within the class community, open the portfolio you intend to share, then click the “Share in Community” link listed in the “community” menu.

* From the “Community Share” page, you will see each of the class communities of which you are a member. Communities are named by the course number, section, and term. * In order to share your portfolio with the instructor of each course, slide the share toggle from “NO” to “YES”.

* Be sure to upload designated course work to the “Course Portfolio Assignments” page of your portfolio. This is where your instructor will look for assignments to be evaluated.

* Remember: Anytime you update content in a shared portfolio you must click “merge w/ shared” before your instructor will be able to view it. Otherwise, your instructor will continue to see the last version you shared before updates were made.

Share Privately
Permission to view an ePortfolio can be granted to individuals such as potential employers by using the “share privately” feature. * From the Home page, choose the desired portfolio and click “share privately.”

* A “Private Share” form is generated allowing you to send an invitation to view your portfolio. * Fill in the invitee’s name and email address. * Choose begin and end dates for sharing the portfolio. * Click “Send Invite” to send the person an email with a link to see the portfolio.

* The invitee will receive an email from “Foliotek Presentation” with instructions on how to view the shared portfolio.

* Remember that you must click “merge w/ shared” before updated portfolio content will be viewable by anyone with whom you have shared your portfolio.…...

...Assignment 3: Julia’s Food Booth Professor Hines Quantitative Methods December 9, 2012 Julia Robertson who is a senior at Tech, she has been investigating different ways to finance her final year at school. She is considering leasing a booth at home games where she will be selling hotdogs, pizzas, BBQ sandwiches. In this report I will formulate and solve and L.P model, Evaluate the prospect of borrowing money before the first game, Evaluate the prospect of paying a friend $100/ game to assist, and finally analyze the impact of uncertainties on the model. In the Linear program, x1 will represent pizza, x2 will represent hotdogs, and x3 will represent BBQ. My first constraint in the Linear program was Budget. The maximum fund available for Julia purchase is $1500. The cost for pizza is that each pizza will cost her $6 and will include 8 slices so the calculation I did was 6/8=0.75 for the cost per pizza. The cost for a hotdog was .45 and for the cost for a BBQ sandwich was .90 which both were giving in the book. The constraint was 0.75x1+0.45x2+0.90x3< than equal to 1500. The second constraint was the Oven Space. The oven has 16 shelves, and each shelf is 3 feet by 4 feet. Julia has plans to fill the oven with the three food items before the game and then again before half time. The 3 feet by 4 feet I converted to square inches 3ft converted to square inches give me 36 and 4ft converted to square inches give me 48 and I just multiply them and it give me......

...In today's cutthroat business market sphere, organizations are highly pressurized to lower the costs while maintaining high efficiencies in order to sustain and flourish in the market. Hence why, most corporations are opting to outsource their non-center business processes which may help them focus greatly on the core business challenges. Both the companies we have discussed in the earlier text have routed their various non-core operations to India. A recent survey states that India is ranked as the prime outsourcing destination by 80% of European and US firms, largely for IT purposes. Countries including China, Egypt, Ireland and Philippines have surfaced as chief competitors, but India has still managed to rise as the top most outsourcing country in the world. The Oracle Corporation as well as The Intel Corporation have both chosen Bangalore, the current IT hub of India as their ultimate outsourcing destination. One of the foremost factors of choosing India is the massive technological and professional talent pool it has with upto 3.1 million graduates yearly added to the labor force and is also the largest English speaking country in the world. The flexible pricing alternatives has given companies an attractive option of saving high costs while maintaining top quality services by managing their budget appropriately which is a result of the large gap that persists between personnel costs of developed countries and India. Indian outsourcing units are not only affordable but......

...In the field of information technology, data loss refers to the unforeseen loss of data or information. An occurrence of data loss can be called a Data Loss Event and there are several possible root causes. Backup and recovery schemes are developed to restore lost data. Data loss must be distinguished from data unavailability, such as may arise from a network outage. Although the two have substantially similar effects, data unavailability is temporary while data loss is permanent. Data loss is also distinct from data spill, although the term "data loss" has been sometimes used in those incidents. Data loss incidents can, however, be also data spill incidents, in case media containing sensitive information is lost and subsequently acquired by another party. However, data spills are possible without the data being lost in the originating side. In Information Technology, a backup or the process of backing up refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event. The verb form is back up in two words, whereas the noun is backup (often used like an adjective in compound nouns).[1] Backups have two distinct purposes. The primary purpose is to recover data as a reaction to data loss, be it by data deletion or corrupted data. Data loss is a very common experience of computer users. 67% of internet users have suffered serious data loss.[2] The secondary purpose of backups is to recover data from a historical......
