Ok Corra;

...Research Paper “The Shooting at the Ok Corral” was a really entertainment part of the movie. The facts of the movie Tombstone are all just fictional because on real life all those facts are not the same as how they truly happened. The reason why the fact on the movie are all just fictional is because the history over the shooting on the ok corral says a lot difference facts. Especially that it is a movie they always try to change the things up a little bit so it can be interesting. Although there are some events in the movie that are factual. One of the event that is factual is that Ike Clanton was really unarmed. (http://www.historynet.com/ok-corral-a-gunfight-shrouded-in-mystery.htm). Another event that was factual was when Virgil Earp raised is hand and told the cowboys to raised their hand and to give him their arms.( http://www.historynet.com/ok-corral-a-gunfight-shrouded-in-mystery.htm). Another factual event is when frank told Holliday “I got you now” (http://www.historynet.com/ok-corral-a-gunfight-shrouded-in-mystery.htm). The other event that is factual is that in the movie shows that Wyatt Earp was the one who shoot the first. (http://www.bignosekates.info/history3.html). The event that I’m going to be contrasting is the ones that were not factual. The event that was not factual was that Billy Clanton was the first one to take his gun out. But I t wasn’t like that the real acts is that Ike grapples the pistol of Wyatt and that makes Wyatt shoot first.......

Is It Ever Ok to Lie?

...Is it ever ok to lie? To me, lying is a means to an end, and hence whether lying is acceptable or not depends on the intended nature of the “end”, whether it is “intended” for the good or for the worse. For instance, a father consoling his terminally ill daughter would lie and tell her that everything is fine, with the positive intention of giving his daughter hope and will to live, which is, of course, morally acceptable. On the other hand, a tax accountant lying about a company’s income and revenue statistics to the government with the ill intention of avoiding taxes for personal gain is morally impermissible. Hence whether lying is acceptable depends very much on the intended end-result. Another thing that I would like to point out is the relative emphasis on intention rather than consequences. (Of course, this is not to say that consequence does not play a role in the determination of whether lying is wrong.) Since events are always unpredictable, things may turn out with unexpected consequences regardless of the nature of the intention. For example, the aforementioned daughter may accidentally find out about her father’s lies on her medical condition and hate her father because of it until the second she died. This is obviously a negative and unexpected consequence. However, her father’s lies are still justifiable due to his well-meant intention. And let’s say, if, the tax accountant’s fraud initiated many company financial reviews and ultimately led to a......

...to all of that group. For example, all Muslims are not terrorists, but in a general sense, we in America relate Muslims with terrorism because most of what we see them and hear of them doing is related to terrorism. This is, of course, a dangerous stereotype because it could cause some to want to do harm to innocent Muslims. I don’t understand why people are so uptight about most stereotypes, though. Most stereotypes are funny, and true. I mean, so what if Asians can’t drive. It’s not their fault. Perhaps it’s a genetic trait engrained into their DNA that disables their hand eye cordination. If that’s the case, I don’t know how they could be so good at kung fu. I guess it’s just one of those questions that may never be answered, but it’s Ok. Why get mad because others can do things that you can’t? Men can’t have babies, but you don’t see me getting all upset when someone brings that to my attention. And so what if white people can’t dance. I don’t see us getting together and starting another civil rights movement if the local news channel does a story on the statistics of the lack of rhythm among the white community. Some stereotypes actually transcend the racial bouderies. Some still take them offensively, though, as if they are negative comments about them personally. Some black folks have become very insecure about ordering chicken when they go into a restaurant with their white friends. It’s not like everyone in the kitchen are secretly laughing behind their back as......

It’s Ok to Dirve Drunk

...IT’S OK TO DIRVE DRUNK! Only a very small proportion of persons DWI are arrested for this offense–only about one in 2000. Reasons for a low arrest rate might include limitations on enforcement resources, lack of enforcement motivation, inability to detect DWI, and others. However, previous research has also shown that even when persons DWI have been observed by police officers who were highly motivated to arrest for DWI, the arrest rate was relatively low. As determined from roadside breathtesting surveys conducted throughout the United States, about six percent of drivers at night have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) equal to or greater than .10. About 15 percent have a BAC equal to or greater than .05. Thus, if DWI were defined at the BAC ≥ .10 level, the probability of detecting DWI from a random stop would be .06; at BAC ≥ .05, the probability would be .15. Visual cues that are capable of discriminating between DWI and DWS can serve to increase detection probabilities above these chance levels. Thus, the key to enhanced on-the-road detection of DWI is determination of the relative discriminability of visual cues that are likely to be observed in association with DWI. In other words don't drunk and dirving you just may take a life if not your own. Enjoy life in know what it is that may's you. be smart. Many studies have investigated the effect of alcohol on driving behavior. They have employed laboratory apparatus, driving simulators, and instrumented......

Why Television Is Ok for Children

...Why Television is OK for Children Why Television is OK for Children Tonia Boyett Grand Canyon University English Composition II 106 February 19, 2011 Why Television is OK for Children The views about children and television all seem to point to television being bad for children. According to Rose Bachtel text “Television: Destroying Childhood”, watching television does not allow children the exercise that they need to keep their bodies in shape and can lead to health problems (Bachtel, 2010). But also according to two visual sources, watching too much seems to be the main problem with childhood obesity because children eat bad foods as they watch television (Giany, 2010), (Perez, 2006). But if parents monitor more of their kids’ television time, maybe obesity would not be such a huge problem. In the text by Bachtel, it was an essay in which she describes that “times have changed” (Bachtel, 2010). Back when she was younger, and when most of us were also, we played outside most of the time. But today with so many types of entertainment, for example, TV, video games, and computers, kids do not want to go outside. Many kids today are considered latch key kids so when they get home from school they have to stay indoors. So of course they are going to watch television. Then as they are watching TV, they are going to want to eat a snack. This in turn is causing less exercise in children, which can cause obesity. The essay also states that if there were no televisions......

Gintong Hiyas

...I. Point of View The case study is viewed from the point of view of Elizabeth Santos who is currently assigned of the task of designing the store management systems and procedures for all the stores of Gintong Hiyas and the management of the company's two branches. The focus of the case are two the stores managed by Elizabeth so taking her point of view is the most appropriate since she has the knowledge and authority to these stores. The staff incentive system was also implemented under her supervision. II. Analysis of the Case Situation The original store opened in Quezon City in 1968 and sold a line of handmade gold and other jewelry. It expanded in the 1980s by opening four new outlets in different parts of Metro Manila. New lines of jewelry were added as sales expanded. Managing five stores became too difficult for the Santos Family; the original store in Quezon City was closed in 1989.  Elizabeth Santos joined the management of Gintong Hiyas after completing her Bachelor's Degree in Commerce in 1992. She designed the store management systems and procedures for all stores while managing one of the Gintong Hiyas stores herself. In 1995, she was asked to manage a store previously ran by her father.  In October 1995, Elizabeth introduced an incentive system to increase sales. Thirty percent of the daily wage of the salesgirl will be paid as bonus if the daily quota is exceeded. This resulted in increased sales and morale in the first few months. Employees in......

Gintong Hiyas

... The family decided in 1989 to close the original store located in Quezon City and defer the opening of new sales outlets. Elizabeth Santos, the youngest among the Santos children, joined her parents and brothers in the management of Gintong Hiyas after completing her bachelor degree in commerce in 1992. In 1995, Elizabeth was gives management responsibility for another store previously run by her father who wished to be relieved of the task of day to day store supervision so that he could concentrate on the production side of the business. In October 1995, shortly after being given her second store to manage, Elizabeth thought of a scheme for motivating her employee in increase sales via bonus incentive system. In early 1996, Elizabeth began to notice a marked change in the relationship among the store staff. III. Viewpoint The point of view of the store manager, Elizabeth Santos is the one being considered in this case. Aside from being the one responsible for designing the store management systems and procedures for all the stores, she was also given the responsibility of managing two of the Hiyas stores. Taking Elizabeth Santos’ viewpoint would be appropriate in this particular case since she has the authority and knowledge regarding the management of the involved stores, and also it was under her management that the bonus incentive system was......

Manila, Abigail M. Pabon, Justin Eric I. Point of view The point of view of Elizabeth Santos is chosen for this case analysis because the problem was encountered under her supervision, some time after implementing the individual incentive scheme. Also, her training and knowledge as a bachelor of Commerce graduate proves her capability to effectively supervise the company. II. Analysis of Present Situation Company Analysis Gintong Hiyas is a company that sells handmade gold and other jewelry. The business, which started in Quezon City in 1986, is owned and operated by the Santos family. With the establishment of new shopping malls, four new outlets were opened in different parts of Metro Manila with each member of the family directly managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store assigned to them. The said expansion, however, created difficulties in managing the five outlets so the Santos family decided to close the original store and to defer the opening of new sale outlets. Elizabeth Santos is one of the managers of Gintong Hiyas. Being a graduate of Commerce in 1992, she was assigned to design store management systems and procedures for all the stores. Among her contributions were a system for stock inventory taking and reconciliation at the end of each......

Is It Ok to Cry in the Workplace?

...Is it OK to Cry at Work? Managing emotions in the workplace Managing emotions in the workplace is a challenge for many organizations. Emotions are not measurable, and cannot easily be predicted, and this can be difficult for management. Emotional outbursts are still often seen a sign of weakness or as an indication of irrational thought or behavior (Robbins, 2015, p. 95). Emotions are not easy to regulate, although emotional regulation as part of the study of emotional intelligence is being studied (Robbins, 2015, p. 107). The ability to control emotions may be a “strong predictor of job performance” (Robbins, 2015, p. 107). The show of emotion is inherent in each of us, and individuals can show very different emotional response to the same stimuli, so response to the same event can be very different, based on the individual’s current mood and others factors. Many people can become very good at masking emotions, and in fact in some jobs it might be very important to achieve a high level of emotional dissonance, however this disparity between what we are feeling and what we are displaying can be counterproductive. In fact, in one study it was determined that “individuals with highly developed self-monitoring capabilities are more negatively affected by emotional dissonance” (Abraham, 1999, p. 451). Another factor that may come into play in attempting to manage emotion in the workplace is gender differences. It is commonly believed that in the US men are......

Ok Corral

...a gunfight, but he declined the offer and walked off. “The next day Ike Clanton and Tom McLaury were apprehended by the sheriff Virgil Earp and indicted for carrying firearms in the city limits.”[3] After they were separated from their weapons and released, the two vagabonds joined Billy Clanton and Frank McLaury, who barely got into town. The four cowboys gathered at a place called the OK Corral on Fremont Street. Virgil Earp made a decision to neutralize the weapons of Billy Clanton and Frank McLaury by taking them away. “He also decided to recruit Wyatt Earp, Morgan Earp and Doc Holliday to help him handle this task. Sheriff John Behan was currently in Tombstone and when he heard what was going down he high-tailed it to Fremont Street and begged Billy Clanton and Frank McLaury to peacefully hand over their guns to him. They rudely replied "Not unless you first disarm the Earps".”[4] Behan now ran towards the oncoming group of cowboys and lawmen. He implored for Virgil Earp to not get involved in a gunfight but he was pushed aside as the four lawmen proceeded walking towards the OK Corral. When they reached the four cowboys, Virgil Earp said, "I want your guns". Billy Clanton responded by discharging his gun at Wyatt Earp. He failed epically and Morgan Earp dissed him and fired two bullets at Billy Clanton and who fell against a wall. In the meantime Wyatt Earp engaged with Frank McLaury. The bullet hit Frank in the abdominal region and he fell to the ground. Ike......

Is It Ok for Companies to Track You

...entertainment, gaming, research, school work, shopping and pretty much anything that you can think of can be found on the internet. It has had such a large impact on our lives, but at what cost has this come to the user. What is really going on in the background of websites, are we being followed and tracked to just be sold off as a product to a marketing company. Many companies such a Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, Twitter, and Apple all participate in the data collection. This data can be found as a cookie, a post, tweet, search, or an account that you may have with any of these particular companies. Each of these companies states their reasoning for tracking and it always comes down to providing a better experience. I believe that it is ok for companies such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, Twitter, and Apple to track our searches and compile data about us as long as they keep the advertising online. Once they invade our home life such as phone calls and direct mailing, then I believe that they have gone too far. Nothing is ever truly free these companies are in it to make money and they make considerable amount of revenue from using our information to advertise to use. For now I will enjoy the free services that Google, Facebook and many other sites have to offer. Google the world’s largest search giant has over 1 billion searches per day. (Google, 2010) Google is almost as well-known as Coca-Cola and the users of Google use it daily but what is the cost that......
