...P1: Recruitment documentation in Standor. The application document for Standor is there because that is all they need to know, they have carefully selected everything they need, and all they need to know about you. It is neatly presented so people can understand how to apply for the job and weather the job is for them. The reason why they add this is because it is appropriate to the job. The application form is lay out very carefully, at the top half it is just information about the applicant, such as surname, forename, address, qualifications and whether they have passed their driving test, in the second half of the application form there is a maths test, the reason why they have put this test is because they can pick and choose the intelligent ones and the people who are into maths, another reason why they put the test there is because it puts people off if they are not maths related people. As well as this it askes in the application form for previous employment history, they have done this because if people have had experience they won’t need as much training, if they employed a brand new client from college It would take more work to train the employee to a high standard. At the bottom of the page it asks for and health issues and also for 2 references, the reason for these 2 references is because they need to know if the applicant is reliable etc. After the process of the application form being handed in, normally the manager has to decide who he is giving a......

All these things should be considered and reviewed regularly to ensure it’s running as smooth as it can be. The main thing that makes a company work is to have effective teams in place to make sure that all the work is being done and that they are being collaborative when working together. Within Xtrac there are many elements that are key in order to make sure that the business can function and this is because of the way that the teams are laid out and to make sure that the workload is even. In order to make the process work, there needs to be members of teams that are going to merge to say make sure that making a new product is feasible. Xtrac use a relativity small business plan to work out who is where and what they are going to be doing in terms of the teams, people and where they are, like what department. The first team that should be taken note of and should be used as a benchmark are the Managers and Senior Members of the company. There are many reason that the management team is effective and how the are beneficial to the organisation. Without the management team there would be a lack of work done in the company. ...getting loans. Also, the company may have taken on more debt than they thought they could handle. Smallwood’s current liabilities in 2005 were £620,000. In 2006 this number decreased by £57,000 to £563,000. This is good as it shows that the company are paying what they need to within the 12 month period. However there was an increase in 2007 by £8,000 to £571,000. This is an issue because although there was a decrease in 2006 the current liabilities started to increase in 2007. This shows that the company were paying more money out for things such as taxes, wages, deferred dividend etc. The purpose of calculating ratios is to show the business how good or bad they are doing financially. This benefits a business because it will show them what they need to do to make more profit and how to lessen their loss. Also, it will show the business whether they need to change anything they do such as stock levels etc and if they need further help from outside causes. An advantage of calculating ratios is that they simplify financial statements which make it easier to find the information that you are looking for. Calculating the ratios also help in comparing different companies as it Is easier to compare each ratio against each other to see which is the better company. Another advantage is that they help in trend analysis so that a company can see if there is a pattern developing with ratios over a period of time. However there are disadvantages to calculating financial ratios......

...Unit 2 P1 Aims are broad statements of desired outcomes, or the general intentions of the research, which 'paint a picture' of your research project. They emphasize what is to be accomplished (not how it is to be accomplished). They address the long-term project outcomes, i.e. they should reflect the aspirations and expectations of the research topic. Once aims have been established, the next task is to formulate the objectives. Generally, a project should have no more than two or three aims statements, while it may include a number of objectives consistent with them. Objectives are subsidiary to aims and are the steps you are going to take to answer your research questions or a specific list of tasks needed to accomplish the goals of the project. They emphasize how aims are to be accomplished and must be highly focused and feasible. They must address the more immediate project outcomes and make accurate use of concepts. They must be sensible and precisely described and should read as an 'individual' statement to convey your intentions Private owned companies such as Tesco focus on customers, employees, the cost of their products and whether they are offering value for money. Tesco’s mission statement is ‘we create value for customers to earn their lifetime loyalty.’ Publicly owned organisations such as the Department of Transport may mention the service they provide, the work they do and include statements about quality, efficiency and customer service. The Department of......

...P5 Interpret the contents of a trading and profit and loss account and balance sheet for a selected business’s annotated final accounts. The trading account shows the business has made a gross profit before taking into account other expenses associated with the business such as overheads. The purpose of a profit and loss account is to: Show whether a business had made a profit or a loss over a given time period (e.g.financial year). Describe how the profit or loss arose (e.g. categorising costs between most of sales and operating costs). Sales/Revenue is an income earned by the business from the sales of its products/services over a period of time, including discounts and deductions for returned merchandise. Sales/Revenue is known as the “top line” because it is displayed first on a company's statement. Expenses are deducted from revenue in order to obtain net income— the “bottom line”. Sales is calculated by multiplying the price at which goods or services are sold by the number or units or amount sold. Gross Profit it is a company’s total revenue, only those expenses directly related to the production of goods for sale, called the cost of goods sold (COGS).
