Ethical Considerations for a Law Firm Website

* To: Supervising Attorney * From: Pat Paralegal * Re: Security Protocols in the Law Office * Date: 11-24-2014
In regards to what is admissible on the website, you must list what state that you practice in. According to ABA Model Rule 7.4 “A lawyer shall not state or imply that a lawyer is certified as a specialist in a particular field of law, unless:
(1) the lawyer has been certified as a specialist by an organization that has been approved by an appropriate state authority or that has been accredited by the American Bar Association; and
(2) the name of the certifying organization is clearly identified in the communication.”
The Rule makes it clear of this when it states “The lawyer has been certified by an appropriate state authority”. An attorney can list a legal specialty on the webpage, but there are specific rules that must be followed. According to ABA Model Rule 7.4 “A lawyer shall not state or imply that a lawyer is certified as a specialist in a particular field of law, unless:
(1) the lawyer has been certified as a specialist by an organization that has been approved by an appropriate state authority or that has been accredited by the American Bar Association; and
(2) the name of the certifying organization is clearly identified in the communication.”.
As long as you certified by the appropriate state authority, you should be in the clear.
According to ABA Model Rule 1.9 “A lawyer who has formerly represented a client in a matter or whose present or former firm has formerly represented a client in a matter shall not thereafter:
(1) use information relating to the representation to the disadvantage of the former client except as these Rules would permit or require with respect to a client, or when the information…...

...Colin Powell MGT 230 Colin Powell Paper General Colin Powell is a retired Joint Chiefs of Staff and over the last decade or two is considered an exceptional leader. Many people in all walks of life and industry admire him and try to look to him for inspiration when leading people in calm moments and in crisis situations. He has shown his leadership abilities during war and times of peace. He has a wealth of knowledge and insight as a leader and can help anyone who is striving to be a people manager or is currently in any position of managing people. It does not matter what setting or situation you are managing in, his experiences will translate. Slide One As I read through the Colin Powell leadership slides provided I found three of them that really remind me of situations I found my self in at one time or another. The Lesson One slide I can really relate to the quote that General Powell uses. I have been in retail management for 17 years and I have had the opportunity to manage hundreds of employees, managers, and supervisors. Whether a manger realizes it or not, being a manager does not only mean you lead people under your direct supervision, but you also have to manage your co-managers and superiors above you. This is especially true in a corporate setting. Good leadership does not mean you have to please everyone around you. There will be times when you have to make difficult decisions. Recently, I found myself in a situation in which I had to make a difficult...

...State and Federal Prison System Paper Student: Norman Staub Course: CJS/230 Introduction to Corrections Date: 8/31/2013 Instructor: Dr. Kim Henagan State and Federal Prison System Paper Example of a State Prison System: An example of a state prison system would be the State Correctional Facility of Pittsburgh, historically referred to as West Penitentiary, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This facility was established in 1826. Typical housing is low and medium security inmates. The facility was remodeled in 2005, to accommodate modern technology, and growing prisoner population. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette, 2011) Explaining the Growth of State Prisons: Truthfully I don’t believe that I alone can explain the growth in population of state prisons. I believe there are a number of reasons involved. The one reason is I truly see a growth is the economy. The people that are less fortunate, or even middle class citizens are desperate and strapped for money more often. When crime seems easy to commit people are more adept to attempt without getting caught. Crimes like insurance fraud, welfare fraud, SSI income fraud are done everyday. It also doesn't help that some internet sites provide information on the successful completion of a few of the crimes listed without getting caught. ...how they all worked closely with the patients, took the time to speak to them, listened to their complaints and symptoms, and consulted with the physicians regarding the patients’ course of treatment. I began to realize what an integral role a PA can have in both a hospital and private practice setting, and the relationships that they develop with their patients. There were many times that I witnessed the PA’s spending more time and being more involved in the care and treatment of the patients than the physician for some of their regular patients. During this time, several PA’s and physicians I had worked with suggested to me that I would make an excellent physicians assistant, and that was when I first became inspired to pursue a career as a PA. I further explored the field by spending time shadowing several PA’s in various fields, including plastic surgery, vascular surgery and OB/GYN. This has inspired me to take 36 credits of prerequisite courses in one year, while still working full time. I constantly strive to excel in what I do, and I commit myself fully to any endeavor that I become passionate about. I am going back to school after almost ten years since graduating college in order to pursue my dream of becoming a PA because I believe in what I am doing, and I am passionate about my goals. I look very forward to a rewarding profession that combines my interests in clinical science and helping others while working in a team environment....

The history of DTNA with Daimler goes as far back as 1981, when Freightliner Corporation was purchased by Daimler-Benz of Stuttgart, Germany. By using the expertise and fiscal power of Daimler-Benz Freightliner rose to leadership of the United States heavy-duty sector. Daimler Trucks North America is closely aligned with Daimler's international commercial vehicle strategy. Daimler Trucks North America models support the crucial NAFTA...

...Decision-Making Process Sandra Wilton MGT/230 August 29, 2013 Pat Chatman Decision-Making Process My journey thinking about college was very long with many years of dreaming to enroll in school. There was always something in the way of me getting my education. Graduation was over 35 years ago in 1976. I found myself not being able to move up in jobs because I did not have a degree. Everything I applied for needed that piece of paper. Being a single Mom and raising a daughter it just was not in the cards for me to attend school. There was also another fear that it may be too hard and that passing would be too much of a challenge. I found myself being very hard on myself and talking my way out of pursuing my dream. My son came along fourteen years later and now I had two children and no extra time or money. The dream continued and my daughter graduated from college. Being so proud but still feeling that void. My son registered for college and had a year under his belt. I decided I needed to at least look into it and see what it may take for me to enroll. Being excited and scared I thought my turn is going to happen so the call went into University of Phoenix as well as others and my goal began. I was in step one of my biggest decision. Step two was determining which school would be my choice. Several schools were looked at and University of Phoenix was chosen and my life was to be different from now on. Working through steps......

...The Principal Objectives of Punishment Esther Sanchez CJ 230 09-20-14 Steve Nance                                                       Abstract These writing analysis will cover the state and federal objectives of punishment. It will also cover the state and federal corrections systems. And it would cover the determinate and indeterminate sentencing. It would also cover the model that I feel it was more appropriate and will have some examples. Principal objectives of punishment within the U.S. corrections system: Everyday many people attend court because of some criminal act they did. Everyday judges have to review all cases before deciding any sentence. The punishment of a felony is incarceration of a year or more. Misdemeanors are a little shorter, it can be incarceration of a year a less. For repetitive offenders they have something called three strikes law. The judges have many sentencing categories from where to choose. They have economic sanction where the individuals pay a fine or do community service to pay for the crime they committed. There is probation where they are let out to society but are supervised 24/7, which is what most of the judges give to first time offenders. There is also intermediate sanctions that are either imprisonment or probation, it might depend on the crime or the judge. Short term confinement which is a year or less in jail and then there is imprisonment which is a year or......

...Check Point Mitosis and Meiosis Joni Groves SCI/230 Yasmin Henry 08/10/2011 Check Point Mitosis and Meiosis The process of Mitosis and Meiosis are very important in their own individual ways. As stated in our reading material these are the differences between the two processes: Mitosis is a form of cellular reproduction in which the parent cell divides, giving rise to two daughter cells that are genetically identical to each other and to the parent cell. Mitosis does not involve combining genetic information from two different parents; hence, it is a form of asexual cellular reproduction. It occurs when an organism grows, or when damaged or worn cells are replaced. Many unicellular organisms reproduce asexually by mitosis, as well. Meiosis and mitosis have some similarities, but they differ in important ways that reflect the special role that gametes play in the life history of organisms. Whereas mitosis is asexual cellular reproduction, meiosis is a prelude to sexual reproduction. Meiosis results not only in multiplying the number of cells by cell division, but also in reducing the number of chromosomes in each daughter cell to exactly one-half of the number before meiosis. An organism would have to undergo Mitosis when the organism needs to repair itself, when the organism grows, or unicellular organisms reproduce asexually by mitosis, as well. Meiosis is what happens to cells when forming a person or animal. This cell division is in the bases of sexual......
