Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited

...Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited By: Christopher Folz Jr. Instructor: Nancy Romero Management Information Systems 3/3/2012 Some companies try to implement new ideas and ways to increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace. This is a great idea for companies to increase the output of the product or service they are performing for the consumers. However, not everything goes so well when implementing new ideas. There are hardships that need to be overcome, the costs of implementing a new system can be overwhelming at first, and many others. I will describe to you some of the hardships of adding new groupware to a system that is already in place. Also have you ever wondered what a wiki does or what it could do for you? Well I in this paper you may find your answer. Let us start with some of the hardships of implementing new groupware into a system. First the costs can be frightening when you see it. By this I mean that the new groupware will require training for the personnel using it. So you will have to pay to have someone come in and train the new personnel. You also will lose efficiency at first while everyone is trying to learn the system and that causes a loss in productivity. Also you would have to purchase the groupware in most cases and that is not so bad if it is for only a few systems, but when you are buying I for an entire network of systems than it can start adding up pretty quickly. Second problem to overcome is resistance. By......

Boeing Australia Limited

...Boeing Australia Limited Executive Summary My decision is to continue on the same course that Boeing Australia Limited (BAL) is on. I feel, after reading this case study that BAL has been on the correct path with regard to building their systems architecture. There is a need for a more sophisticated procurement process and the issue of a procurement application may be easily found. The key is the process by which BAL has implemented all other IT applications, they have been very successful. They are thorough and have processes in place to rationalize whether a new by-in application or an in-house developed program would be best. My thought is that at least one, if not more; of the current systems have an appropriate off the shelf application that would work for BAL’s procurement needs. Further investigation through the Materials Management Process Council should reveal an appropriate tool for BAL to use. In this case study I will outline the reasons for my decision and some of the potential cost savings involved. Statement of Issues The main issue of this case is to buy a new e-procurement application or to continue to wait for the best case scenario application to come along. It is an important decision that affects many aspects of the business. The potential to lose a client or a critical supplier is possible during this process. An in depth analysis of the situation must be conducted prior to any move toward a process change. Initially, change is difficult......

...Table of contents Page Executive Summary 2 Immediate issues 3 Environment and Root cause analysis 4 Recommendation 5 & 6 Recommendation and implementation 7 Monitor & Control 8 Conclusion 8   EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Boeing Australia Limited (BAL) was formed in late 1996, relatively new company and a global extension of the U.S. firm. The Boeing Co. developed capabilities in the areas of space and communications, site management, and the upgrade and maintenance of military aircraft and equipment. As BAL grew, so did the legacy information system it used for both internal communications and external dealings with customers. BAL, however, faced difficult decisions as it sought to upgrade its procurement systems and processes to improve operations. In early 1999, BAL recruited a new national procurement manager, Russell Menere. His immediate task was to look for gains in productivity by improving procurement processes, either through cost savings or by reduced processing time. To meet this objective, he initiated a number of short-term improvements. These included the rationalization of number of BAL's suppliers, improving BAL's relationships with its key suppliers; the introduction of a credit-card purchasing system for low-value, large-volume consumables and the adoption of electronic ordering processes with BAL's larger suppliers. In 2002, with new opportunities available through e-business technology, Russell needs to decide......

There is a limited budget at this time to invest in new projects. BAL has done an impressive job initiating many short term improvements and I feel at this time it makes sense to allocate our resources and focus on this continuous improvement program. In order to arrive at this decision, an analysis of the pros and cons of implementing a new e-procurement system was conducted. Due to the large monetary investment required and the overall scale of this project, it is not practical to commit to a new system today. We have been successful at executing many effective changes in the area of procurement and will continue to do so in the future. This will help to streamline our processes, improve customer and supplier relations and most importantly, will ensure that Boeing Australia will meet its long term strategic goals. ... “Ms. Mason. Ms. Mason. Open the door please.” I knew that little voice, Christine Collins the girl next door I watch. Tears rolling down her face, “Please it’s my mommy…help her.” Christine’s mother was lying on the living room floor. “Mrs. Collins? Can you hear me? It’s Beth.” I glanced at Christine whose head was berried in her hands. How do I tell an eight-year-old girl her mother wasn’t breathing? I pulled her next to me, “Sweetie” before I could talk she spoke, “Is she asleep like my daddy, Ms. Mason?” I have forgot that her father passed away less than two months ago. I just nodded, “Can I come with you?” kissing her head, “Of course you can. I can’t leave you here alone. Go get some things together.” I had no way of calling 9-1-1 so I laid a cover over her. Christine came out of her room with a book bag and a stuffed teddy bear. We went back over to my house. “Ms. mason?” I stopped her, “Christine I am only 18 you don’t have to talk to me like you do my mother honey. You can call me Beth.” She smiled, “Okay. Um Beth where is your mommy?” We got in my small two door car that looks like it could fall apart any second. It was hard to get down our street, cars where just in the middle of the road. I threw a jacket over Christine’s face. I didn’t want to see bloody people on the ground or leaning half way out of their car doors. What in the world has happened? The police stations was the exact same. Dead people were all around. I found my mother half awake at her......
