Personal Thinking Styles
Based on the information presented in the survey, it is clear to see that my personal thinking style is highest for my affiliative style and approach. This is primarily because I like to ensure that I have support whenever I make my way in a test whether it is on an academic level or on a personal basis. My ability to forge these relationships with my cohorts is something that I value very much as I’m a strong believer that you learn more from the environments around you as opposed to a single textbook or other method of self-improvement or educational medium. My second highest percentile is from my ability to be encouraging on a humanistic level. I believe that the fact that I’m a mother comes into play here, and I often try to see every person a child of God and due to this, I make it a conscious effort in my everyday life to make sure that everyone is pleased and can work on the same level to get a task completed as expected. Unquestionably, my limiting style that is working against me and reduces my overall effectiveness stems from my yearning to be a perfectionist and to complete a task to the highest standard. Through implying such a method, I feel that I have subconsciously worked to limit my professional effectiveness in organizations and have not be able to develop as quickly as I’d like as I am constantly held back by tasks which need to be completed and sent out in a quick and specific time frame rather than something that is slow and tenuous in nature. LSI Style Interpretations:

Regarding this interpretation, I again went back and paid a closer reflection to the affliative style and approach. T is based on this approach that I understand that my style is characterized by my personal belief that sees me: - Valuing relationships above everything else.

- A requirement to build strong relationships that are both meaningful and…...

Emotional Thinking Style Mgt/350

...Emotional Thinking Style Emotional thinking will often involve very basic thought processes that are normally based on things that are already known, experiences, and events in life. How is critical thinking related to the emotional thinking style? Critical thinking enables each person to take active command of not only our thoughts, but our feelings, emotions, and desires. It is critical thinking which provides us with the mental tools needed to thoroughly understand how reasoning works, and how those tools can be used to take command of what we think, feel, desire, and do. Emotions are very important in everyday life and it drives each person to detailed attention, which in turn drives learning and memory. Emotions and instinct are part of human nature that is instilled in each and every person. Wen-Yu Chao (2006) states the following about emotional thinking “Emotions and feelings are not logical, but it doesn't mean they are bad. On the contrary, they are what make the world beautiful. Without them, we will lose music, paintings, sculptures, poems, and all wonderful creative work derived from the sensitive part of our mind. There is simply no way to argue without some sort of emotional bias. Emotions can be a great motivator for everything that happens in life. However, the emotional thinking style, unlike the logical thinking style, is often not based on a great deal of facts and it often requires very little thinking. The logical thinking style is......

My Personal Learning Style

...My Personal Learning Assessment Virginia Tucker AET: 525 February 26th, 2012 Deborah Hatfield My Personal Learning Assessment Many factors can affect a student’s ability to perform successfully in the classroom. One of these factors is his or her personal learning style. According to Howard Gardner, there are seven distinct learning styles (Gardner, 1985). The first of these styles is known as the “Verbal-Linguistic” Learner. A student with this type of learning style prefers to learn by using words and being vocal in class. He or she will use stories and enjoy question and answer sessions in class settings (Gardner, 1985). As with any learning style, there are problems that may arise with this particular learning style. Some examples include: 1. Difficulty with online classroom learning environments- These students strive on one-on-one interaction with both the instructor and other students. Not having this could greatly affect their learning ability. 2. Not working well with shy individuals in a team setting- “Verbal-Linguistic” learners need social interaction to fully learn a subject being presented to them in a class. These students may burden and or overshadow quieter students who prefer to work in a quieter environment. The second learning style is an “auditory” learner. An “auditory” learner relies on his or her hearing to succeed in the classroom. These students are very particular about their choice of words when speaking inside the......

Have you ever been to a job interview and been asked “What is your leadership style” and “What is your strength or weaknesses with your leadership style, and how would you improve your weaknesses”? Well in this paper I am going to go over what I feel is my leadership style, what my strength and weaknesses are and how I would improve my weaknesses. This is all very good information to know very well as you enter into a new career because when you are asked this you will be able to answer the interviewer strongly and confident without any hesitation, which in turn could make you win the job over. When doing my research on leadership styles I have found that I am actually a combination of two leadership styles, affiliative leader and democratic leader. An Affiliative leader is someone who works to create emotional bonds that bring a feeling of belonging to the organization. This type of leader has the frame of mind that people come first. I have always been the type of person that really cares about other people, and their needs and wants over my own and I feel that would reflect the type of leader that I would become. I also feel though that I would be a democratic leader as well because if I need to I am able to pull everyone together and get......

Critical Thinking Styles

...Different Styles of Critical Thinking and Decision Making Charles Cunningham, Stacy Graham, Daniel Kaelin, Tresha Yarberry, MGT/350 August 22, 2011 Hank Reeves Different Styles of Critical Thinking and Decision Making Logical thinking, scientific thinking, creative thinking, and optimistic thinking are a few of the different thinking styles used for critical thinking. A person has to know what type of problem he or she is dealing with to know what type of critical thinking style he or she would need to use. Knowing the difference of these four critical thinking styles will help people use critical thinking better. Logical Thinking Philosophy defines logic as the study of the essential truths and methodical methods for clearly expressing and thoroughly representing such truths (Jones, 1995). Logical thinking relates to the consistency of the facts and the validity of arguments. Critical thinking most closely resembles the logical thinking style in the rawest form as it should be unbiased and only influenced by proven factual information. Logic looks to common sense to determine the best action to take based on the desired outcome. The scientific thinking style is the most similar to the logical thinking style because it is based on valid arguments for taking a certain action. It rules out emotional thinking because it is biased and influenced by what is wanted by the parties involved. Dan’s company uses a software program for procurement......

Personal Leadership Style

...Personal Leadership Style (AS IS) Introduction Everyone wants to be a good leader in life. This paper reflects my personal thoughts on my leadership. Completing the questions under the nine components of Campbell’s leadership descriptor has helped me to understand what a good leader is. I will talk about how my experiences in different societal settings has helped in shaping my views on what a good leader is and how a good leader needs to understand the diverse nature of individuals in the world. According to King, Altman & Lee (2011), knowledge on leadership helps an individual find his/her way out of drift, or even avoid it altogether. Understanding my leadership profile has helped me work from a place of strength as well as understand gaps in my set of skills (King, Altman & Lee 2011). It was not until I Completed the leadership profile section in chapter five of the “discovering the leader in you” workbook that I was able to improve my self-awareness, understand my strengths and areas that I needed to work on. Living and working in Nigeria where there is a lot of power distance and required acts of respect to elders (bosses, older people in ages and ranks), I learned to only deal with people with a high level of respect and fear. Respect in the sense that, you could not look at your elders or bosses in the eye, must always refer to them as “ma” or “sir”, cannot speak to them except you are asked to speak. Then, I came to the USA and it was an almost opposite......

Personal Leadership Style

...PERSONAL LEADERSHIP STYLE 2 Who am I now as a leader? The conclusion that I have come to is that I have many leadership styles. I love this quote, “The best leaders are clear. They continually light the way, and in the process, let each person know that what they do makes a difference.” (Source Unknown, www.quotelady.com/subjects/leadership.html). I have embraced this quote as the way I would like others to view me as a leader. One of the strongest points I have is my heart for serving others. Robert Greenleaf, in his essay, The Servant Leader (1970), says, "It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The difference manifests itself in the care taken by the servant--first to make sure that other people's highest priority needs are being served." Servant leadership means sincerely caring about the welfare and development of the people that follow them. I would not be in the Human Service profession if I was not a Servant Leader. This is one of God’s gifts that He has bestowed upon me. I try to make it always about the other person and try to help them reach their goals and be successful. People who are successful as leaders know where they are going and they have a clearly defined objective that they have a passion to achieve. I feel that God has given me the objective and I will and am doing everything in my power to achieve the end goal. Leadership is not something you can demand,...

Personal Style Inventory

...Ryan Conrad Personal Style Inventory Signature Code: ESFP My first letter in the signature was an E for Extrovert. I know that being an extrovert has been a great asset to me at my work at Target. On a normal 8 hour shift I come into contact with well over a hundred guests and will most likely interact with at least 30-40 asking where something is or if we have a particular product. As it is the Christmas season now I need to be extremely helpful with guest as well as be outgoing enough to ask a puzzled looking guest if I can “help them find anything today?” As well as the many guests I help, I have many coworkers; we have many new hired on because of the holidays, and many I don’t know their names. In order to work most efficiently and effectively, I need to introduce myself constantly so there is no confusion with “hey you’s.” Being an extrovert definitely helps with this kind of working environment. Of course, with how many guests and coworkers I come into contact there are plenty who are introverts and slow the process. Although being extroverted has helped me greatly in my retail job, it hasn’t helped me so much in day-to-day talking with people and a lot of sales associates. I know I tend to ramble a lot and when I’m making a purchase I tend to think aloud and give out more information then I really intend or need too. I recently purchased a laptop computer at best buy and the sales associate there had asked me what I would most likely be using it for, and......

...PERSONAL LEARNING STYLE AND THEORY PAPER Personal Learning Style and Theory Paper Charolette Giddings University of Phoenix PSYCH 538 Lifespan Development and Learning July 13, 2009 Personal Learning Style and Theory Paper One of the most interesting things a person can ever do is sit and figure out what they love out of life. It could be reading, dancing, studying, making crafts, playing sports and so forth. Whatever it is, it describes that person. As for myself, I am a round-about person that enjoys the smaller things in life. The following paragraphs will explain my individual learning styles, my strength, opportunity for growth, and an improvement strategy that will raise my areas of weakness. A learning[->0] style is a student's consistent way of responding to and using ways in their life to help with the context of learning. “A learning style is said to be the composite of characteristic cognitive, affective, and physiological factors that serve as relatively stable indicators of how a learner perceives, interacts with, and responds to the learning environment” (Webster, 2006). I believe that learning styles are those in educational conditions under which a student is most likely to learn. Thus, learning styles are not really concerned with "what" learners learn, but rather "how" they prefer to learn. There are 7 different learning styles that are described throughout this particular assessment: Visual, Social,......

Emotional Thinking Style

...Critical Thinking Application Critical Thinking by some is thought to be as important as or more important than most material or physical items such as money, homes, or automobiles. So what is more important than critical thinking? Well, a couple of extreme examples to illuminate the point are food and water. They are without a doubt two of the most important items that our body requires for survival, and so it is with the application of critical thinking. In this paper I will discuss my understanding of critical thinking and relate it to a personal experience at work, showing its validity in the work environment. I will also explain its importance and benefits. Critical Thinking According to the National Counsel for Excellence in Critical Thinking Instruction, critical thinking is defined as “the mode of thinking about any subject, content, or problem in which the thinker improves his or her quality of thinking by skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them.”( Scriven, M., & Paul, R.,1987). Critical thinking involves how one goes about gathering, evaluating, and choosing information and the best methods in solving situations or problems. Critical thinkers are rational and focus strictly to the facts in order to analyze the issues at hand. They are open-minded to all possible options, think outside the box for new ideas, and recognize any bias in his or her thinking and decision making. Thinking is a part...
