Case Study: Plan B

...Case Study: Plan B 1) I do not believe that the FDA should be able to make exceptions to the standard drug-approval process. If there does need to be a change in the way the drug is being approved, once the drug has gone through the normal flow of approval processes and has been deemed to be safe, low risk of abuse, and provides an acceptable therapeutic index, there should be no reason that the drug does not go through the normal approval process. 2) All drugs have some level of safety concern. In the case of if acetaminophen were available in prescription form only, there would most definitely be an influx of patients to clinics and emergency rooms seeking pain medications for headaches, body aches, or other minor pain related incidences. 3) I do not think that there should be additional data required for girls of reproductive potential for Plan B or other OTC products. If half of all girls in high school are already sexually active, they should have the tools available to them in order to prevent unexpected pregnancies. Many schools offer free condoms as well as sexual health classes to inform students of the risks of being sexually active, I believe that Plan B is just one more tool available to women in order to be in charge of their bodies. While I do not think that this should be passed out like condoms are, I do think that it should be available to women if it is needed such as when a condom breaks or slips off during sex, she is raped, or even if......

Marks and Spencer Case Study of Plan a

...Marks and Spencer: Summary Report of the Case Study Introduction Marks and Spencer (M&S) is a leading UK retailer selling clothing, food, and housewares. In 2007, the company put sustainability at the heart of its business. In order to succeed, it would have to change the attitudes and the behavior of its shoppers. As a result, it launched Plan A which set out a five year plan involving 100 social and environmental commitments that were expected to shape the future of the company. Plan A would allow the company to resolve some of the big issues facing their business. They called it Plan A because there is “no B when it comes to conserving the earth’s finite resources” (Marks & Spencer Website). Brief Background on Company In 1884, Michael Marks started the company by selling an assortment of goods in an open-air stall in Leeds, UK. In the 1920’s, the company went public and expanded into general merchandise and ready-to-wear clothing. By the 1970’s, the company had become a British icon and a household name. However, from the 1980’s to 1993 came the troubled years. Despite the expansion of its operations in the 1980’s, the retailer had failed to keep current with its shopper’s preferences and this led to financial woes. From 1994 to 2006, it was back to the basics for the company. By 1996, it had rebounded to become the UK’s most profitable retailer. However, this recovery was short lived, and M&S experienced a significant slump in business in 1999 which continued into......

... Lesson1: Case Study on Listo Systems Mani Kumar Budathoki International American University (IAU) MGT 500: Organization Behavior and Leadership Dr. Om Prasad Sitaula September 17, 2014 Overview of Listo Systems: Listo Systems is a pioneering graphic agency with a long span of success history. After the beginning of 1990s, the company grew frenetically and became one of the best graphic service companies in the world. The pace of new technology has created the more opportunities as well as challenges for the company and customers. However, advancements of this new technology have helped to produce more competitors with a better quality service and product. Due to more emergences of new competitors in the markets, the customers have got more options while opting to buy quality products and services. With all these changes, the industry has been facing the new threats in terms of security and product-thefts. Question No-1: The impacts of power shifting from the seller to the buyer: More competitions in terms of quality products and services are providing the customers more choices than ever before. As a result, customers want more quality products and services for less money, more flexibility and convenience, and more innovation. Listo systems had monopoly power in the early 1990s, so easily able to earn a huge success in a short span of time, but when a new technology is introduced then more and more competitors participated in providing the same services...

Case Study Flight Plan

...Flight Plans 1. Using the four functions as your guide, what challenges would Jeff Bourk face in managing the Branson Airport? Students can go a variety of directions on this question. While managers are called upon to perform all the basic functions of management, planning, organizing, leading and controlling, most top managers and CEO’s focus on planning.  While Jeff wears many management hats, his biggest job is setting the strategy and mission of the airport. Students should note from the case introduction that the building of the nation’s first privately built airport took a lot of time to plan and there were many arrangements, i.e. the contract with the city that laid the foundation for future success. 2. Again, using the four functions as your guide, do you think the managerial challenges Jeff Bourk faced when getting the airport up and running are different from what he faces now in actually overseeing the airport’s operation? Explain. As organizations move from the planning stage toward implementation, the other functions of management become important. Organizing employees to build the airport and then running the day to day operations i.e. scheduling employees, maintaining security, dealing with HR issues, takes much of a manager’s time.  Leading will also become more important as motivation of airport employees needs to be sustained.  Finally, control mechanisms need to be in place to ensure that the operations of the airport run smoothly and safety......
