Chapter 1:
~Yeonhae’s POV~
Today will be a better day. I smiled to myself as I woke up with my daily quote in mind. “
Good morning eomma, appa!” I kissed my parents’ cheeks as I greeted them. They smiled in return and motioned for me to have my breakfast. “Oh, Yeonhae-ah, we will be expecting some visitors tonight, so don’t stay in school till too late, arasso? And as usual, don’t tire yourself out.” Eomma reminded me with a warning look. I gave a cheeky smile and saluted as a sign of acknowledgment.
“Yerin-ah, annyeong!” “Chunhee-ah, annyeong!” I greeted everyone as I walk through the hallways. They all politely bowed. Aish, told them not to be like that. Haven’t they gotten use to my greetings already? “MY BABY YEONHAE-AH, YOU’RE HERE!” I laughed as I could recognize this voice and energy anywhere. She gave me a bone-crashing hug and I coughed due to the impact. “Ah mian, Yeonnie. Gwenchanha?” Bomi changed from her hyper self to the worrying eomma. “Yah, Yoon Bomi, after using so much force, you’re apologizing eo?” Chorong eonnie approached us, pulling Bomi away from me while she whined.
“Y-Yeonhae eonnie, p-p-palli!” Hayoung came running towards us and attempted to pull me but was stopped by Chorong eonnie. “Yah, maknae. Did you forget Yeonhae can’t run? Tell us what happen as we go.” Hayoung gave an apologetic look before she started explaining the situation while we tried to rush to the scene as fast as possible.
I was horrified by the event that was occurring before me. “OPPA, STOP! DON’T HIT HIM ANYMORE!” I yelled as I run towards the two men that were fighting. “Yeonhae, don’t!” Bomi tried to stop me but I was one step ahead. “Seungyoon Oppa! What are you doing? Why are you bullying… that guy?” I stretched out my hands and blocked in front of that guy, preventing Seungyoon Oppa from continuing. “STOP MESSING WITH ME, SON YEONHAE! MOVE AWAY BEFORE I MAKE YOU!” Seungyoon Oppa raged. Before I could say anything, suddenly a group of people barged into the sports hall. “LET GO OF SEHUN, YOU BASTARD!” An extremely tall guy shouted. Before he could do anything, his friends held him back and said, “Yeol, calm down!” Seungyoon Oppa ignored the presence of the group and pushed me aside to continue beating Sehun-sshi up. “Yeonhae-ah! YAH, KANG SEUNGYOON, ARE YOU CRAZY?! DON’T YOU KNOW ABOUT-…” “THEN GET HER OUT OF HERE! ASK HER TO STOP MESSING WITH MY BUSINESS!” Seungyoon Oppa shouted when Bomi was on the verge of bashing him up.
“WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!” The Discipline Head roared, entering the sports hall with a menacing aura. “Kang Seungyoon, office, now. Kim Junmyeon, Park Chorong, bring Oh Sehun and Son Yeonhae to the Nurse’s Office now.” He ordered and everyone quickly moved.

Chapter 2
~Yeonhae’s POV~
I opened my eyes and I found myself in a familiar environment. I sighed and I could hear many footsteps approaching. “Yeonnie-ah, gwaechanha? That stupid Kang Seungyoon! I can’t believe he actually pushed you! I don’t get it Yeonnie-ah. Why do you always help that douche?” Bomi kept on going on and on about how Seungyoon was bad and all. I wonder if that Sehun guy is alright… “Chorong eonnie, is Sehun-sshi in the Nurse’s Office also?” I blurted out. Bomi glared at me once she realized I was ignoring her words all the while. A Pink laughed and Chorong eonnie replied with a nod.
“THAT BASTARD, WHAT DID SEHUN DO TO MAKE HIM BEAT HIM LIKE THAT?! HE SHOULD BE AWAKE BY NOW BUT HE’S NOT!” We heard a voice from outside the room. I gulped before knocking lightly on the door. Not long, the door slide open and I came face to face with a guy with sharp jawline. “What are you doing here? Haven’t you guys harm Sehun enough?” Another guy with really pretty eyes from the room said. Being reckless as usual, Bomi wanted to confront that guy but I stopped her. I walked into the room with A Pink following behind and gave a ninety degrees bow. “Joesonghabnida. I’m apologizing for Seungyoon Oppa. He’s really not like that usually. Something must’ve happen.” I calmly said. The guy with pretty eyes scoffed, “So you’re trying to say that it is Sehun’s fault that he got beaten up? I think he just needs a new target to bully.” I wanted to argue back that it’s not like that, but he cut in again, “Forget about it. We don’t need your apology, just get out.” “This guy is really getting on my nerves. Yah, Yeonhae got hurt because she protected Sehun-sshi. The least you could do was to ask if she was okay. Did your parents not teach you manners?” Eunji eonnie snapped. I looked at her, shocked. She was never the one who would say things like that. Then I turn to look at that guy and I could see that his eyes turned icy cold and his fist was clenching really tightly until his knuckles went white. His friends all seemed to be affected greatly by Eunji eonnie’s words. “Yeonhae-sshi, I really am thankful that you tried to stop that guy from hurting Sehun but I’m afraid you and your friends have to leave now.” It was the guy that opened the door. I nodded meekly before pulling the girls out.…...

Things Fall Apart

..."Fortunately, among these people a man was judged according to his worth and not according to the worth of his father." Referring only to the first chapter of the novel, discuss how Okonkwo's relationship with his father is presented, and how their relationship with their broader society -- the "these people" of the quote above -- is presented. Be succinct but use the novel, and you must NOT write more than two typed pages! Okonkwo, protagonist in Chinua Achebe's novel Things Fall Apart, is introduced to the reader as a young man born in Umofia, one of the many tribes populating late 19th century Africa. Okonkwo derives a grim satisfaction from being starkly different to his father Unoka; fortunately enough, his people judge a man "according to his worth and not according to the worth of his father", leaving him free to deviate from Unoka's reputation to forge his own. Where Okonkwo had acquired prestige at the youthful age of eighteen, his father was a man who had known no success. Okonkwo is depicted as an excellent fighter -- he even manages to overthrow a famous wrestler during a contest -- externally virile ("tall and huge" with a "severe look" and a habit for "breath[ing] heavily") while his father is described as "tall but very thin [with] a slight stoop". Where Okonkwo seems to radiate hostile energy, Unoka's face was frequently "beaming with happiness", yet is clearly stated to be a "failure", only paragraphs after Achebe comments on Okonkwo's "fame". Living Apart Together.

...Living apart together. Living apart together or LAT is not a concept I understand, perhaps I’m old fashioned but how can you say that you’re in a serious relationship, when you only see each other every few days? Of course I can see that when you are young like 16-25 years old, it is normal not to live together. But when you decide to start a family, how can you still live apart? Everybody’s different, and if it makes sense to them, then let them be. But in my point of view I could not be in that form of relationship. Many couples are in a LAT relationship. To be in a LAT relationship means that you are involved with another person but you aren’t living together. It is mainly young people and separated people. It is a whole new trend LAT, many experts encourages people to live in a LAT relationship. Jeannette Lofas is one of the persons who encourage couples to live in a LAT arrangement. She says “ many young people are starting a new family after separation, and the blended families are so vulnerable to internecine resentments and power struggles, that it may can cost them there new family.” As the quote says there can be a lot of problems, with blended families. Many people are talking about how it is to be in a LAT relationship. As Ms. Davis says “ I feel I get a lot of togetherness and lot of time to myself. “ the reason she is living in a LAT, is that when she met her true love, she didn’t want to give up her apartment. Professor Popenoe is studying the reasons......

Lat - Living Apart Together

...LAT - Living Apart Together LAT is the non-traditional way of being together in a marriage. Traditionally, a married couple lives together, but the LAT-lifestyle is a whole different kind of marriage. This lifestyle ‘LAT’ is becoming very popular. How can this be? Does living apart from your loved one make life easier or harder? Can LAT really improve a relationship or does it have the opposite effect? Why do these LAT-couples choose to live apart? “Jobs and places of work contribute heavily to this choice”: Career before family is becoming a very popular trend, so the LAT-lifestyle gives a huge opportunity to put your career first. Not living together gives couples a bigger space individually , so they can focus on the activities they like to do without annoying their partner. Even though the married couple may love each other very much, they are still two different people that can have very different opinions. This space can also make the partner much more interesting how much fun it was to get ready for the date..”: Being together all the time can become a boring thing, so getting excited to go on dates like in the beginning of a relationship may keep the exciting spark that a new couple has. LAT also shows a lot of trust: Needing to trust your loved one to do the right thing, without you giving your advice all the time or trusting them notto have an affair. Living two different places can also be very exciting, especially if they live in two very dissimilar places. So...

Living Apart Together

...Living Apart Together Living Apart Together (LAT) is a new family lifestyle – voluntarily – for the couples all around the world. LAT is a term, to describe the couples in a relationship, which live in separate houses. Couples who live apart are becoming very common and have become a growing trend. The concept of this way of living is getting popular and can be found in all age groups. Experts agree that LATs is now part of the social landscape. Some say the trend shows, that you have problems in your relationship, which that you are attempting to run away from, instead of dealing with them. While others believe that this is an opportunity to be away from your actual partner and thus gives a better and healthier relationship. Of course there are many other arguments and those above, are only a few of many in the debate of living apart together. In the following assignment, I have focused on the issue “does living apart together have a positive or negative impact?”. Of course there are various points of views and opinions, and that’s what makes this topic so exciting. Therefore I have selected text 2 and 3, representing two different perspectives. Text 2 “Home alone together” is written by Jill Brooke in 2006. The text claims that LAT is becoming very popular and the number of these kinds of relationships is increasing. The co-director of the Nation Marriage Project at Rutgers University, David Popenoe, tells us about how the “younger couples often turn to LAT arrangements...

...Just in Time for the Holidays Problem: North Pole Workshops’ production capacity cannot meet the surging demand for Timmy CDs on Christmas Eve. The management team gets stuck in mapping a solution to fulfill such demand because team members have their own solutions and they oppose the others’ solution. Reasons: - Weak demand forecast ability (the actual demand is 20% over the company’s assumption) - Weak production planning ability - No links between demand and production planning - Do not have compelling product strategy, sales & marketing strategy, operation strategy Suggested temporary solution: - If the company can use current production lines of Meorwrrr or change them to produce Timmy CDs, the company should stop producing Meowrrr and produce Timmy CDs. - If the company cannot use other production lines to produce Timmy CDs, it should sell Moewrrr in the US market instead of Timmy CDs as proposed by Fiffledip. This will help the company use a production line to produce various products. - Redesign production process to make it become flexible to produce many types of toys. - Diversify product lines so various products can substitute each other when one product is not available on sales. Colonialism in Things Fall Apart

...English Dr. Swaralipi Nandi 18-09-2014 Theme of Colonialism in ‘Things Fall Apart’ Introduction : Poet and novelist Chinua Achebe was one of the most important Africanwriters. He was also considered by many to be one of the most original literary artists writing in English during his lifetime. He is best known for his novel Things Fall Apart (1958). Born Albert Chinualumogo Achebe, Chinua Achebe was raised by Christian evangelical parents in the large village Ogidi, in Igboland, Eastern Nigeria. He received an early education in English, but grew up surrounded by a complex fusion of Igbo traditions and colonial legacy. He studied literature and medicine at the University of Ibadan; after graduating, he went to work for the Nigerian Broadcasting Company in Lagos and later studied at the British Broadcasting Corporation staff school in London. During this time, Achebe was developing work as a writer. Starting in the 1950s, he was central to a new Nigerian literary movement that drew on the oral traditions of Nigeria's indigenous tribes. Although Achebe wrote in English, he attempted to incorporate Igbo vocabulary and narratives. Things Fall Apart (1958) was his first novel, and remains his best-known work. It has been translated into at least forty-five languages, and has sold eight million copies worldwide. Chinua Achebe’s “African Trilogy” : Things Fall Apart, No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God   captures a society caught between......

The Power Line Poles

...THE POWER LINE POLES If you were in the position of Gordon Yarrow how would you deal with the bid exceptions requested? If I was Mr. Yarrow, I would request Henry Nelson Co. that several pre-award meetings are held to discuss the exceptions made with the goal of setting final agreements on these exceptions prior contracting the services. I would also make sure that these discussions are recorded as minutes of the meetings so that the document(s) can become an integral part of Henry Nelson’s quote and eventually included in the contract agreement. With regards to each of the exceptions requested (Exhibit 2), my comments are: • Exception 1: To handle this exception, Moren should request Henry Nelson and for that matter all bidders, to include in their quote a Jobsite delivery. Although most of the companies in the US are more familiar with the UCC transportation terms, Moren should request that the latest version of Incoterms (developed by the ICC) should be used as the applicable transportation terms of the contract. By enforcing the use of Incoterms, Moren may even specify that the quoted terms should be DDP-Jobsite which would indicate Henry Nelson and all other bidders that the supplier “must” carry the responsibility and risk of delivering the equipment to the jobsite by the requested date. With this in mind, Henry Nelson and other bidders should include as part of their cost estimate the costs for using DDP-Jobsite delivery terms. This way, the sales price to Moren is...

Things Fall Apart

...In the novel, “Things Fall Apart”, Chinua Achebe first shows us the structure of the Igbo society and importance of men’s role in the clan. Igbo people are very organized and have great mindset on the structure of things when it comes to Religion and order of the society. These little things set the scene and show a cohesive society but can also lead to things falling apart. Okonkwo, being a successful man with many titles thought little of his father, Unoka, who had claimed no titles and was thought to be an ‘agbala’ which meant woman or man with no titles. Throughout the novel, we constantly see that Okonkwo’s need to not resemble his father festers and he has a desire to instill it in his oldest son, Nwoye. However, this was to no avail as we see that later on in the novel, Nwoye is attracted to Christianity when the missionaries arrive because he never agreed with his father’s views as he always had views of his own and of the Igbo religion. Upon hearing the news of Nwoye’s conversion, Okonkwo felt disheartened and decided to threaten his other sons in hopes of them not being like Nwoye and his ‘failure father’ , Unoka, who have disregarded the aspect of manhood. Religion is an important part of the dark continent which was depicted throughout the novel in different aspects. The little things that held the society together, in this case religion, also contributed to the Igbo society’s downfall. For example, in the case of Ikemefuna’s death, the Oracle demanded that......

Things Fall Apart

...Persephany Magdaleno Mr. Lopez July 23, 2014 AP Lit Things Fall Apart "The white man is very clever. He came quietly and peaceably with his religion. We were amused at his foolishness and allowed him to stay. Now he has won our brothers, and our clan can no longer act like one. He has put a knife on the things that held us together and we have fallen apart"(pg.176). Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, a historical fictional novel, was written to present a complex, dynamic society to a western audience who perceived African society as primitive, simple, and reversed. I strongly recommend this novel because of its differentiated perspectives of two intertwining stories for example: Okonkwo, a respected and powerful figure in the Ibo village, Umuofia, was also warrior whose major weakness in the novel is the inability to accept change. This ends up destroying him in the finale of the book. Chinua Achebe's other story described the influences of white missionaries on African tribes. Chinua Achebe also addresses the clash of cultures in the second part, especially within their religions, but implies that there is no right or wrong in their differences between their cultures. Fear is an emphasized theme throughout the novel because fear is what drives Okonkwo terror by the wrath of god's, guilt, and his community disapproval upon them. This theme is also looked as symbolization to Okonkwo's dedication to be a successful man because the fear was so fierce that it......

A World Apart

...A World Apart A World Apart Farrah Anglada-Lauer Axia College of University of Phoenix 2 The first penitentiary was opened in a wing of the Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Jail in 1790. This penitentiary operated with the belief that silence and labor was the appropriate rehabilitation tactic. “A system of behavior modification was introduced in the Walnut Street Prison, the system of secondary reinforcement so widely used in today's prisons. Each prisoner was given fair pay for his/her labor. The prisoner was debited for the cost of maintenance, and an additional sum was deducted for the prisoner's share of tools. The prisoner was also required to pay the costs of the trial, as well as a fine to the State. If there was a balance against the prisoner at the time of expiration of sentence, the person was retained until it was liquidated.”(Takagi, n.d) Incarceration in the United States is one of the main forms of punishment for the commission of many offenses. Pole Vault Risks of Going High

...December 2012 Pole Vault Risks of Going High Most people look at pole-vaulting as a crazy and extreme event in track and field. The men and women that do this event can be quite crazy. They are people who aren’t scared to take the risk of going as high as twenty feet in the air. Pole vaults are almost a different breed of athlete. They have a mindset that they are going to run as fast and jump as high as they can and not care what happens after. There are many ways that a pole-vaulter can get hurt from head injures to pulled muscles. Fortunately, nearly everyone that pole vaults remains safe and uninjured, but there are a few cases a year where people get hurt or in extreme cases killed. This isn’t due to the fact that the event isn’t safe but just that with every other sport, there is a chance something can go wrong and you can get injured. But that is the fact that athletes in every sport have to deal with and have accepted. Pole-vaulting is a very technical and hard event to learn. The athlete has to be fast strong and have great stamina because of the amount of jumps taken and how taxing each jump is on the body. The main object of vaulting is to get over the cross bar and move to the next height. Most of this has to do with the amount of force you apply to the pole at impact. This is called momentum. “Momentum is a quantity used to measure the motion of the body” (Weir par 13). This is essential to having a successful jump and to clearing the height. Pole......

A World Apart

...A World Apart Jackie Wolfe September 25, 2010 In the world there are several countries who conduct their correctional systems the same as the United States and then there are some who do just the opposite. The American correctional system is designed to incarcerate and try to rehabilitate offenders, if possible. I chose to compare the American correctional system with that of the Iraqi correctional systems. This paper will show the differences in the two. It will also show how the American correctional system is run in comparison to that of the Iraqi correctional system. The American correctional system is set up with different types of prisons. Most prisons are run by the state government although the United States does have federal prisons. The federal prisons are run by the federal government. In the United States, prisons are operated at various levels of security, ranging from minimum-security prisons that mainly house non-violent offenders to Supermax facilities that house well-known criminals and terrorists (DeMaille, 2007). In the United States, prisons house more than two million prisoners. The majority of criminals in the prison system are because of drugs and violent crimes. As of the end of August 2010, there were approximately 210,000 prisoners in federal prisons with about half of those for drug related crimes (BOP, 2010). In the United States there are two well-known federal penitentiaries. They are Alcatraz, which is closed...

Living Apart Together

...Living Apart Together L.A.T The Living Apart Together relationship, also mentioned as L.A.T relationship is a growing form of relationship, which has increased incredibly like wildfire as the text Just What Modern Romance Needs: “Living Apart Together” by Gary Picariello explains it: “… the concept has spread like wildfire among nearly 50% of young couples in Europe, the United States and even farther abroad”. The definition of “Living Apart Togethers “ is fairly simple; it is couples that wish not to live together, not owing to distance, work or children as many other couples are forced to, but because they simply want to live separately. One way to look at these L.A.Ts is as Jeanette Lofa, who “advocates living apart” does. She advocates L.A.Ts owing to the complications blended families often has to deal with which they could avoid, such as power struggles and internecine resentments. Partly agreeing with Jeanette Lofa is Professor Popenoe who points out that Living Apart Together makes sense for couples with kids and elderly couples who might have been married before. He is also worried that LATs will distort their capability of forming long-term relationships. Agreeing is Dr. Scott Haltzman who adds the capability of intimacy and cooperation as factors that might impair by living apart and not being forced to deal with it. Also, according to Gary Picariello qualities like compromising, negotiation and commitment are to be lost or not developed, if the two parts of...
