Introduction

I picked national security because I think it’s a pretty important topic in these days, the lives of a lot people depend on how well we take care of this matter. But however there are people against the procedures or the methods we have to ensure national security. And through this project I would try to explain some of them and their advantages and disadvantages.

There are many complaints about the screening procedures at airports; people understand that it’s important to make sure we enforce these procedures but at the same time they feel humiliated and traumatized by them, these procedures are not going to disappear just because people are complaining about them, but we sure can find a way to make them less difficult that way people won’t feel the way they feel now.

List of facts not relevant to the problem 1- The effectiveness of body scanners is uncertain. 2- Airlines policies.

There are three articles that help me understand and analyze this problem, also what is people feeling about it and where do they stand. These articles reflect the real problem and make you understand it’s not a perceived problem.

After analyzing the articles and asking people I got to the conclusion that the major problem is that people feels humiliated and aggravated…...

...The Case of the Filing System I had to really give this assignment some thought since most of my problem solving decision have to do with how to make my job more efficient. I had to consider if any of my decision-making or problem-solving solutions had ever affected the culture of the company in any way. Since, I have never held an official position as a manager or had the ability to manage a project within a company I kept running into a road block in deciding what decision or problem I had experienced in my current or pass workplace that I could discuss. In thinking about this I realized that sometimes the decision-making or problem-solving that can have a big impact on the company is a big way can be the smallest contribution an individual employee can make. In my experience in working, I have realized that you are only as effective as you are organized. In saying this, my discussion is based on the filing system at a pass job that was a huge problem for the accounting department. The current filing system in the accounts payable department was time consuming and not efficient. It was next to impossible to find files or file anything without fear of never finding your files. A major problem with the current filing system was that you had too many years in one location. It is very important when working in any area of accounting that you keep accurate records for auditing reasons. These records not only affect the individual employee, but the company......

...Christine Crocker GS1140 Problem Solving Theory Dr. Tiera Coston 4/7/2012 In the greater Baton Rouge area, there are 270 automotive and collision repair businesses. Within three miles from Fisher’s Automotive, where my husband Paul works, there are 40 shops that are providing some of the same services as Fisher’s. Of those 40, 26 perform collision repair. Before I started school, I worked at Fisher’s with Paul. I was a body technician and helped with some of the office duties. Paul is still currently the head painter. The owner, Vic Fisher, has recently seen a decline in business on the collision side. If the business is to remain open, which will allow Paul to keep his job and provide for his family, the staff at Fishers needs to figure out what they can do to bring in more business. The questions that need to be answered are: How is Fisher’s Automotive going to get a competitive edge on its competition in the greater Baton Rouge area? Is there an untapped source of revenue that can single it out from the other shops? Is there a service currently not being provided in Baton Rouge? Answering these questions may very well be the solution that they are looking for. The building that Fisher’s Automotive is in was designed to be a warehouse and is not suitable for what they are using it for. It is really run down, old looking, and in need of remodeling. One of the first places that they need to remodel is the office area. By doing that, Fisher’s will be able to showcase...

Solving a Problem

...Solve a Problem Paper The creative process applies four stages of solving a problem. These stages are; searching for challenges, identifying the problem, investigating the problem, and producing ideas. The first stage of critical thinking is to search for challenges. Some challenges are apparent and do not require much to identify, others are “so small or subtle that few people notice them” (Ruggiero, 2009). The second stage is to identify the problem. In this stage is to receive and absorb problem in a way that will allow the most solutions. The third stage is investigating the problem. This stage is a fact finding stage. It permits the gathering of information either experienced or gaining new information through exploration in order to solve the problem, which brings us to producing ideas; the fourth and final stage. The purpose of producing ideas is to compose as many ideas that lead to solving the problem. I used six techniques to develop curiosity in my search. I was observant to what is occurring around me, looked for and understood when things could be improved, recognized when something was not satisfying, searched for the reason the problem occurred, identified the impact to others, and finally noticed the potential for controversy. My problem lies with spending money, more specifically eating out every day of the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I do not enjoy cooking; however, eating out has become very expensive. On average I spend......

...Problem-Solving Process: Part I HUM/111 March 30, 2014 Pam Strunk Problem-Solving Process: Part I The situation in my life what I have chosen to use for is assignment is my sons weight. This is something his father and I have weekly discussions about. The problem is my son is overweight for his age and height and we want him to be a healthier weight. The issue is that his father believes he does not eat a healthy diet and I disagree with this. His father only sees and spends time with our son every other weekend and assumes that the diet I feed him is full of fast food and candy. I spend every day with my son and almost the 2 days every other weekend that he is with his father and know that he does eat a healthy diet that I prepare for him. The way that I distinguish what is a problem and what is an issue in this situation is by thinking about the main thing we both agree on and what we disagree on to some extent. In this situation the main thing we both agree on is that my son could be at a healthier weight, this is the problem. Something we disagree on to some extent is weather my son is eating a healthy diet, this is the issue. Another way is to ask myself the following questions to determine whether it was a problem or an issue. If the answers to these questions are yes then the subject is an issue and not a problem. If not, then it is a problem and not an issue.  Does the subject arouse...

...Problem-Solving Process part 1 Buddy Kemp HUM/111 April 27, 2014 Deborah Arnold M.Ed. Problem-Solving Process part 1 A problem is defined as a situation that is unacceptable. An issue is when two people disagree. The difference is that a problem can be solved easily by coming up with a solution that will fix the problem or make it better. An issue would be resolved when the two people who are disagreeing decide to agree on the view that makes more sense. For example, if I had a problem with my sewage not going down properly. I would seek help to tell me what the problem is. If I were told, the problem is because of tree roots getting into the pipes and keeping the water from being able to get through, the solution would be simple. The solution would be to get a plumber to come in and get all of the roots out of the pipes. This problem would then be resolved. An issue on the other hand, could be two people who disagree about Obama care. A solution to this would be much more complicated. In order to resolve this issue, people who are in disagreement, would need to decide which view is more reasonable. A problem that we are experiencing at the moment is with my son. My son, who is 14, stays out all hours of the night, takes off when he feels like it, and he is using drugs. When he is faced with consequences of his actions, he feels that he has done nothing wrong and should be able to do what he wants when he wants. One of the bigger problems......

...Emmitt Blevins GS1140 Mr. Ellington FAMILY PROBLEMS For my final assignment there was a list of topics to choose from, most of the topics I couldn’t relate to except what I have chosen, a family problem. This topic will be the most difficult to put together, as I will write about a dysfunctional mother. Before she became the dysfunctional mother she had a promising future. When I was in high school I met the mother of my daughter, we fell for each other and got married. Decided we wanted to start a family after a year of being married, we felt it was time. We got pregnant and lost the baby girl at 10 weeks, we were devastated, but we weren’t giving up. Month goes by and we learn we are pregnant once again, this time we took the proper medical steps that we didn’t know about before. We learned we were pregnant right after 9/11, which to us made our pregnancy that much more exciting. Time goes on, life choices have broken me and her up. Our daughter, that’s now 12 years, wasn’t 2 years old yet. I have often wondered to myself, if we didn’t get divorced would she be this way. Is this truly my fault? Then I realize she made her choices which put her where she is today. Since her and I broke up, we have both moved on and started separate lives but always connected. She had gotten remarried and had a new life with three children (2 his 1 hers). She had settled into her life happily, at least that’s how she showed herself to the public. She had started......

Problem Solving

...1. I think I am a problem- solving person because I take my time to understand all the facts accurately, and look for strategies for coming up with solution. “Good problem solvers are optimistic about the possibilities for solving a problem through a careful, persistent analysis. They start by breaking the problem into parts starting at a point where they can make some progress, and working from there. They are active in trying different problem solving methods, such as making diagrams, asking themselves questions, and trying to pin down abstractions as concrete examples.” 2. The characteristic I think I need to improve is that I do not know where to start when doing a project, essay, etc. 3. The way I think I can improve the characteristic of not checking for accuracy is by starting to re-check every step of the problem, going step by step approaching all the details, and re-read the instructions from the beginning, to avoid any guessing. Another way to improve is try to carry-out a self- testing procedure and test my own answers by not following my intuition and check for accuracy in my answers before finish and handle the assignment. 4.

Problem Solving Theory Project

...Problem Solving Theory Project GS1140 08-13-2014 Antonio Pierce & Dana Jackson Thinking about a recurring problem in my life was tough, being that I’ve just closed on a home, working 45-50 hours a week as a store manager, and going to school , are all their own problems in themselves. The common denominator in all three of these life altering events would be time allocation. Given 24 hours, I have to figure out the best way to divide every single step throughout the day, for the next couple of years to be beneficial to myself as well as my household. My morals or ethics come down to family being the most important in my life. I need correct time allocation to not only help handle the day to day responsibilities that come from caring for my first household. But also satisfying the time spent with my girlfriend in .the same process. This causes a severe split between job and school as well. I need to work in order to provide my half of the bills and relationship spending. But also need school to further advance in my career and make a better living. As the saying goes “Work smarter not harder”. With a better education I can advance to make money as well as work less to satisfy my home and relationship needs. At first I thought the problem was I was doing too much at one time. The real problem is “How to create more time to allocate to my responsibilities simultaneously”. Incorrect time management could possibly lead into failures in my relationship, foreclosure on my......

...HOW TO HANDLE BUSY SEASON AT THE HOTEL I have decided that the problem is that I am short housekeepers at the hotel to be able to handle the work load based off their current schedules. I have contacted the owner of the hotel to figure out some solutions to the problem, he stated to me that I cannot hire any more personnel, however I can change the schedule and I can give the housekeepers overtime to be able to cover the work load. The first solution to the problem would be for me to extend the work day for the housekeepers on the days they work, or I can bring all house keepers in every day rotating there days off to every other week. The solution I decided on was to bring all the house keepers in on a daily basis rotating there days off to every other week, this will require the owner to pay overtime for their required hours to cover the workload. Some things that could cause my plan to not work would be that housekeepers could not show up for work or arrive late to work causing the problem to continue. In addition they could also get tired of the current schedule and quit all together. I have evaluated the problem after putting my solution into motion, all housekeepers are enjoying the extra hours and the hotel has had over 90% up time with clean rooms, in addition the owner is also pleased with the new schedule as well. ...Individual Strength and Problem-Solving Techniques Decision making and problem solving are two different things. The text states, “Decision making refers to the “passing of judgment on an issue under consideration” and “the act of reaching a conclusion or making up one’s mind.” Engleberg and Wynn also agree that “group decision making results in a position, opinion, judgment, or action.” (Engleberg and Wynn, 2010). The text also states that “problem solving is a more complex process in which groups analyze a problem and develop a plan of action for solving the problem or reducing its harmful effects.” (Engleberg and Wynn, 2010). I am currently the president of the youth department at my church. Not only is decision making vital to having a successful group, but problem solving as well. There are four other adults that make up the group and are responsible for a specific unit of the department. The age range is six to nineteen years old. The youth are from diverse economic backgrounds, and their problems vary from one extreme to the other. Some are members of the church and some are not. The ultimate goal of the group is to provide a safe place outside of school and home in which they can communicate their feelings, let them know that someone cares about their wellbeing and they are not alone. They teach them that they can make a positive contribution to society and they are valuable. Meetings are held twice a month, we participate in various activities around......
