The job of an Instructional Coach is much more difficult than I previously thought. During this assignment, I participated in a coaching session with a coworker, Mr. Smith. Just entering his classroom for the Pre-Conference and the Observation was a nerve wracking experience. It made me feel as though I were severely overstepping my boundaries. For the past three years I have worked closely with this teacher. We teach the same subject and attend collaborative planning meeting together twice a week. When I asked him to participate in this assignment I could tell that he was not as open to it as I would have liked. I’m sure that the thought of me observing him teach did not sit very well with him, but with our schedules, I had to pick a coworker with a different planning time that I have, so I asked him. The follow essay is a reflection on this week’s assignment: Recommending Improvements.
I began the assignment with the development of an evaluation form. I searched the internet until I found one that fit our county’s adopted instructional model, the Workshop Model. I revised the form to just include the components I needed and printed it out. I scheduled a meeting with Mr. Smith at the beginning of the week. I wanted to go over some things with him to let him know that this was something I was doing for my Master’s Program. I made sure he understood that it was not school related and would not be shared with anyone except for my instructor at Grand Canyon University. To ensure his privacy, I am using the alias Mr. Smith for this assignment.
One the day before the observation I met with Mr. Smith for the Pre-Conference. During this meeting I asked him about the lesson he would be presenting. As we both teach 7th grade Social Studies, I am very familiar with his lessons. We collaborate twice a week and share in the development of lesson plans to turn in each week.…...

Performance Improvement

...The Performance Improvement Cycle The Performance Improvement Cycle is an important element to the overall improvement of quality healthcare. In my opinion the process within the cycle that I consider the most important is the process of analyzing and comparing internal/external data. An example of this was given in the book where the hospital continuously monitored the delinquent health record rate. After doing this research they reached a benchmark which can also be called a standard of performance that the hospitals works to maintain. The successes and failures that come from working toward these standards allows the healthcare facility or hospital to improve on all aspects of healthcare performance. During the process of the performance improvement cycle the part where the most errors occured, in my opinion, has to be between the design and redesign process/education and the implement process/education time of the cycle. Like in any part of business, education or a creative venture I think the design and redesign process is a long period of indecision, agreements and disagreements. The implementation process/education can come with a lot of mistakes because you don't know what is going to work until you start to put it into effect. Educating your staff can pose a lot of challenges as well because every thing is brand new and needs to mastered. I think these errors can be avoided by implementing the changes slowly as well as having staff training sessions on a......

System Improvements

...System Improvements Gregory Williams INF 630 Dr. Steven Pierce 2 August 2013 Given our understanding of the current system’s scope, problems, and opportunities, we can now establish system improvement objectives (Whitten & Bentley, 2007). The purpose of this task is to establish the criteria against which any improvements to the system will be measured and to identify any constraints that may limit flexibility in achieving those improvements. The criteria for success should be measured in terms of objectives. Objectives represent the first attempt to establish expectations for any new system. In addition to identifying objectives, any known constraints must also be identified. Constraints place limitations or delimitations on achieving objectives. Deadlines, budgets, and required technologies are examples of constraints (Whitten & Bentley, 2007). The history of information systems coincides with the history of computer which emerged in the late twentieth century. It is an academic/professional discipline bridging the business field and the well-defined computer science field (Whitten & Bentley, 2007). This process contains a theoretical foundation with more common legacy to include people, procedures, data, software, and hardware that is used to gather and analyze digital information. The nature of the information system that I have selected is Internal and External System Users. The reason why I chose both of these is because I have......

Continuous Improvement

...AMES Continuous Improvement Abstract This paper presents the continuous improvement efforts that Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services implemented in January 2013. AMES has just passed one year under the new processes established by the continuous improvement team. The paper compares aircraft delivery times before and after continuous improvement efforts using a lower tail t Test of hypothesis for the mean. The null hypothesis is continuous improvement did not improve aircraft turn time. However an inference made from statistical hypothesis t-test is that the continuous improvement efforts improved the turn time of heavy maintenance aircraft. AMES Continuous Improvement The aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) business is competitive on a global scale. To be competitive in this industry the MRO must produce a reliable aircraft on time at a low cost. These match the top three concerns of any MRO customer cost, schedule, and quality. Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services (AMES) is an upstart MRO formed in 2009. AMES is known for excellent aircraft quality/reliability at a higher price and longer schedule. AMES currently has a strong revenue stream from 2 sister airlines under the same Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) umbrella. Interpersonal Improvement

...M1A3 Goals Identification and Reality Assessment Worksheet 1. Describe a goal for interpersonal improvement in your personal life. Be sure to explain the following: * What aspects of your own interpersonal communication skills would you like to improve? * How far are you from attaining this goal? * Do you think this goal is set too high or too low? Why, or why not? * How long will it take me to attain this goal? * If the goal will take a long time to attain, could you set smaller goals that you could attain while still working toward your bigger goal? * How will you benefit from successfully attaining your goal? My personal goal is to be able to communicate my feelings more often. I think it will take me a few months to successfully attain this goal because I’ve been so closed off for so long. I do not think my goal is set too high or too low because I believe it is a reasonable goal to achieve if I continue to express myself verbally. I will benefit from this goal because communication is key, not only in relationships, but in life. If I have trouble communicating to others I will not succeed. When an issue arises I will have the confidence to address it to the other person(s) and discuss it without feeling judged or belittled. 2. Continuous Improvement

...Continuous Improvement Planning Process Dawn Martinez Grand Canyon University: EDA 577 October 1, 2014 Continuous Improvement Planning Process Edwards Deming created a four-step continuous improvement plan that guided educational organizations through a process that would lead to improved student performance (Bernhardt, 2013). The four-step process is used widely in school systems today. Continuous school improvement can be defined as a process of improving schools on an ongoing basis through planning, implementing, evaluating, and improving (Bernhardt, 2013). In order for the system to be effective, all staff members in the educational organization need to be involved and aware of the vision for the school. When an entire school is clear about what needs to be done to improve student performance, the entire school can move ahead and increasing student performance becomes the forefront of efforts made by everyone. This paper will discuss the continuous improvement plan of Patriot Elementary and the action planning steps that are present as well as how the improvement plan is correlated with the ISLLC 2008 Leadership Policy Standards. Evidence of Action Planning Steps When examining the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) for Patriot Elementary, action planning steps are evident. When developing the UIP for each school year, the Accreditation Team begins by looking at the general demographics of the student population as well as the larger picture of the community as a......

Self-Improvement

...Ramesh Wagle ENG 010 Prof. Dodson Nov 10, 2014 NE # 4 (F) Self – Improvement I have chosen three words that are important for my self – improvement. Those are Social anxiety, Patience, and hard work. I realize I have social anxiety, but I know it is due to my low self-esteem and self-confidence. I want to talk to people, have conversations with other people. I am perfectly comfortable in conversation if I know that I am accepted and not just being a burden to them. The problem is my mind is telling me if I say one word to anybody, they’re going to laugh. Not having patience on me is my life weakness. I want to have patience, so that I can think and do more things better than doing it worst without tolerance. Trying to be a hard worker is never easy for me. I am a college student without having a hard work experience. In my life I just did not want to do anything hard. I need to improve Social anxiety, Patience, and hard work to be a successful man. I selected the second one because it has great impact on me. And I have improved it by my mistakes. I almost lost my life because I did not have patience on me. Kewill, providers of trade and logistics products and services, released these findings in its “2011 Best Practices Survey for Parcel Shipping and LTL/Freight Management.” Another key finding is that more than 40% of respondents do not use mode optimization selection methods and ship all 2-day shipments via a 2-day service. The study’s authors indicate there is potential for improvement, in that mode optimization has the potential to reduce express shipping costs by up to 20 to 25% with the use of software that can incorporate time in transit tables. “Success with this kind of initiative depends upon having easy access to descriptive data on the parcels, accurate, up-to-date rate, zone and time in transit......
