B2B vs. B2C

...B2B vs. B2C For more than a decade usage of the Internet has increased exponentially changing the way companies interact with their customers. According to Ralph Oliva (2007, p.1), “Forecasters expect domestic B2B purchases will continue to total trillions of dollars annually.” He goes on to say that in 2004, “domestic B2B online sales totaled $2.7 trillion” while online retail sales in 2004 reached $184 billion. This increase has opened up new opportunities and challenges for marketing to these customers electronically. Because business customers and individual customers react differently to marketing, strategies and tactics used to reach one segment may differ from those used to reach the other. This paper will first look at how the business customer and retail customer are different, then delve into the differences between B2B and B2C marketing. Relationship Differences One important aspect of marketing is to build good relationships with customers. “In B2B or business to business this requires a commitment of time and good customer service prior to ever making that first sale.” (Warholic, 2007, p.1). One of the differentiating factors between B2B and B2C sales is the B2B sales process takes longer because business customers require more communication and product details. Business customers are not apt to purchase during the first contact with a vendor. Usually the sale, especially the first one, takes multiple contacts creating a bonding......

...Oliva 1 Antonio Oliva ENG 101 January 14, 2013 Self – Discovery Essay The Hard Part Writing Adrienne Rich once wrote, “Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you; it means learning to respect and use your own brains and instincts; hence, grappling with hard work.” Writing for me has never come as an easy task, although I love to reads others words and I wonder to myself why could I not do something that meaningful. The hard part of writing this simply being able to make a sentence that makes sense. The intended audience must have a clear understanding of what I’m trying to communicate. This is important on many levels especially for work request from vendors who contract repair work of multi million-dollar equipment. I enjoy reading the technical manuals in order to get a better understanding on how the equipment works. This starts me on thinking how best to describe what repairs may be needed. I develop what I refer to as a mind picture. The association of mind pictures with this type reading is then converted into words. Clear and concise sentences are the key to successful understanding and to clearly avoid misunderstandings between what work needs to be accomplished and what does not need to done. This process can by the helped along by using critical reading strategies, specifically annotating, which consist of recording ones reactions to and questions about the text one has read, these comments are to......

Civil Disobedience in Gotham City

...man’s will to resist. A rebirth of the American soul” (Melniker. B, Uslan. M, Burnett. A, Timm. B & Oliva. J. 2012). Even in America today, we are in crisis due to an unjust government. The faith of the American people is fading because the news shows death, corruption, and injustice. Similarly, Batman raised the many broken souls of the people who needed something to believe in. The people can also look back to Batman as a symbol of resilience despite being associated with crime. After the mutants scatter, some of them name themselves the sons of Batman, using violent assaults with good intentions. Batman’s portrayal is then tainted as a criminal because the sons of batman make him look like the leader of those criminal acts. In addition, the Federal government sees him as a threat and wants to shut him down, getting rid of him forever. Once Gordon retires as commissioner, there’s a new person in charge of the police department: Commissioner Yindel: “James Gordon dedicated his life to keeping this city safe... ... and I'm honored to share a stage with him. But this office will no longer tolerate the actions of a criminal. As my first official act as commissioner, on the charges of breaking and entering... assault and battery, and creating a public menace...... I hereby issue a warrant for the Batman's arrest” (Melniker. B, Uslan. M, Burnett. A, Timm. B & Oliva. J. 2013). Clearly, Batman has always protected the city from criminals, but his long absence......

Curricullum

...1961). ASSUMPTIONS OF CURRICULUM PLANNING (Saylor and Alexander, 1966) 1. Quality in educational program has priority in educational goals. 2. The curriculum itself must be dynamic and ever changing as new developments and needs in our society arise. 3. The process of curriculum planning must be continuous, not limited and must be dynamic. 4. No master curriculum plans will serve all schools. 5. Many individuals participate in curriculum planning. 6. Procedures of curriculum planning vary from system to system, from school to school, and from classroom to classroom, but they must be logical, consistent and identifiable in each situation. MODELS OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT The term “model” as discussed by Oliva (1982) rates with scenario as one of the most abused words in current English usage. While a scenario may turn out to be any plan or series of events, a model may be a tried or untried scheme. It may be a programmed solution to specific problems or it may be a microscopic pattern proposed for replication or a grander scale. Some of the models are simple, others are very complex. Within a given area of specialization (administration, instruction, supervision, or curriculum development), models may differ but bear great similarities. The individual models are often refinements or revisions, frequently major, often minor, of already existing models. The educational consumers, i.e., the practitioners to whom the model is directed has the......

Multiculturalism and Diversity

...On p. 472 of the text, Oliva lists some current curricular issues. Choose one that you personally find significant to your school or school division. Describe the issue and provide some strategies that you think will help with that issue. Once again, describe how your Christian world views impacts the way you compose your strategies. Also, respond to at least 1 of your classmate's posts. As the student population in American schools becomes increasingly diverse, educators must respond with school reform efforts that meet the needs of all students. They must develop culturally sensitive curricula that integrate multicultural viewpoints and histories, apply instructional strategies that encourage all students to achieve, and review school and district policies related to educational equity. Teacher education programs in particular are responsible for preparing future teachers to promote meaningful, engaged learning for all students, regardless of their race, gender, ethnic heritage, or cultural background. Multiculturalism and diversity in classrooms has also been increasing at the same rate as immigration. As interdependence among nations is limiting cultural barriers, the movement between countries is also becoming more fluid. Competition for talented global workers is increasing the demand of immigrants to migrate with their families. This mass migration is becoming the reason of large classrooms with children from all different backgrounds. It is interesting......

Difference Between Curriculum and Instruction

...learning programs which are sustained. It is not just simply the materials to be taught, or the number of courses taught in an institution. Curriculum also implies certain achievable performance goals in a field of study. It also involves activities that the school controls either in or outside the school itself. These could be activities such as games and sports, guiding and counseling sessions, relationships between students and teachers, and other similar programs. The chain of experiences a learner goes through also constitute curriculum. Arising from the various perspectives of curriculum, one could safely define curriculum as a program, activities and content an institution has put in place for purposes of achieving certain goals (Oliva, 2008). I believe that after the curriculum, comes instruction. Individuals tend to confuse the two terms, and use them interchangeably. Having defined curriculum in the paragraph above, instruction could be defined as all the interactions between the teacher, at whatever level, and the learner. Curriculum differs from instruction in various aspects. In the first place, curriculum comes before instruction because one can only give instruction on what has been developed. Whereas curriculum deals with that which is to be taught, instruction on the other hand deals with the ways of teaching it. Curriculum concerns itself with a set of plans and programs; the subject matter and related events, while instruction involves the methods of......
