Due o the significance of foreign direct investment in the gobla economy, several empirical studies have been carried out to further comprehend the impact of foeign diect investment on varies economies in the world. This chapter therefore reveals various theories and empirical studies on the impact of foreign direct investment on economic growth.

CHAPTER 3
Methodology:
This section highlights on the various statistical methods that will be used in analyzing the impact of foreign direct investment on economic growth. Various sources have defined the term research in various forms.
According to Babbie (1988), research can be defined as an organized investigation that is carried out to illustrate, forecast, and manage a practical phenomenon. Methods used in research analysis are very significant because they, to a large extent, affect the outcome of the research.
Gall, Borg, and Gall (1996) suggested that, there are two key philosophies in research methodology that strengthen the entire research process. Namely: the interpretivism and positivism theories.

According to Mark, Phillip and Adrian (1997), interpretivism advocates that it is necessary for a researcher to understand the distinction between human beings in our role as social actors. They emphasise the difference between conducting research among people rather than objects. The term ‘social actors’ is really significant. The metaphor of theatre suggests that as humans, we play a part on the stage of human life. In theatrical terms, actors play a role which they interpret in a certain way and act out their roles according to their interpretation of it. In the same way, we interpret our social roles in accordance to the meanings we give to it. Also, we interpret the social roles of others in accordance with our own set of meaning.

Crucial to the interpretivist philosophy is that, the researcher has to adapt to an emphatic stance. The challenge here is to enter the social world of the research subjects and understand their point of view.

Positivism research on the other hand revolves around the adoption of the philosophical stance of natural scientists. In this form of research, the researcher takes into consideration apparent social truth. The end result of this form of research can be law-like in nature, similar to results produced by social scientists (Mark, Phillip and Adrian 1997).

In order to generate data for the research, positivists researchers generate a hypothesis by making use of existing theories. A very significant component of the positivist approach to research is that the research is taken as far back as possible. As such, the researcher would claims to be very external to the process of data collection in the sense that, there is little that can be done to alter the substance of the data collected. The assumption is that, the researcher is independent of the outcome of the research (Mark, Phillip and Adrian 1997).

Other approaches of research methodology include the inductive and deductive approaches to research.

...RM solutionChapter 5: Solutions to Problems 1. Suppose you buy a futures contract on BSE 30 Sensex futures at 16,500 on March 10. The initial margin is INR 8,500 and the maintenance margin is INR 5,000. At what futures price would you receive a margin call? Solution: Initial Margin = 8500 Maintenance Margin = 5000 Futures price = 16,500 Value per contract = 165,000 Margin call will be activated when the maintenance margin goes below 5,000, or the loss from futures exceeds 3,500. Since you bought Sensex futures, loss will arise if Sensex falls, and a loss of 3,500 will have to be made in order for a margin call to occur. Thus, margin call will be activated when the value of futures falls below 161,500, or Sensex falls below 16,150. 2. On January 2, when the futures contract on Jet Airways stock started trading for expiry on March 31, Kishore sold 10 contracts to Raghav, Raja sold 15 contracts to Jeeva, and Rama sold 20 contracts to Bose. On January 3, Jeeva bought 5 contracts from Raghav and Bose sold 10 contracts to Asjeet. Calculate the open interest in this contract on January 2 and January 3. Solution: Jan 2: Kishore sold 10 contracts Raghav bought 10 contracts Raja sold 15 contracts Jeeva bought 15 contracts Rama sold 20 contracts Bose bought 20 contracts Open interest: total sold contracts = 45 = total bought contracts. Jan 3: Jeeva buys 5 contracts Raghav sold 5 contracts Bose sold 10 contracts Asjeet sold 10 contracts Net......

...SR-RM-012 Team A Week 3 BAS/310 March 23, 2014 Anastasia Jakubow Systems in Review We have been asked to review current and future systems for Riordan Manufacturing’s Human Resource and Legal departments. We have done an evaluation of the systems as they are today. The goal has been to identify areas that need improvement. Our suggestions are as follows. Human Resource The present Human Resource Information System (HRIS) was installed in 1992. Here is a short rundown of what the system does: stores employee information (pay rate, hire date etc.), contains separate excel spreadsheets for training/development and job analysis/salary compensation, job openings and resume filing, and employee relations (complaints, grievances etc.) ("HRIS", 2005). Upon review, it is concluded that Riordan Manufacturing is operating on an outdated HRIS. This has at least two disadvantages. First and foremost, the current system has security concerns. Second, the current system is not efficient. A survey of HRIS systems users has shown that lack of efficiency is one of the biggest problems with old HRIS systems, and therefore one of the top priorities in a new system (“Top HRIS challenges,” 2002). Security concerns include the following: employee information changes must be submitted on paper creating a possibility for loose papers with personal information, resumes are stored in multiple unsecured locations, and employee files are kept in multiple unsecured......

This system keeps track of personal information, pay rate, tax exemptions, hire dates, seniority dates, organizational information, and vacation hours for the employee. Conducting interviews to get a better understanding of operations and establish objectives for the human resource system to implement. Questionnaires and surveys can be sent to several individuals to assist with the research and observation process. With the lack of an automated HR system, employee changes are submitted in writing to their manager and then manually entered by a clerk. The use of excel spreadsheets is good, but a more sophisticated system is needed in place for office efficiency and time saving efforts to allow for job focus. Riordan Manufacturing has an outsourced workers’ compensation third party which keeps its own records. The current system lacks a central employee database the managers that are keeping their employee records locked in their offices is not taking advantage of the current IT tools and systems available. Riordan Manufacturing project goals should include a Human Resource Information System with some training of the new system for HR members and interview to discuss what is needed and would work for them to better customize the new program. This will be one of the most important parts of the program, this process will be essential throughout the System Development Life Cycle(SDLC). After reviewing the current architecture setup that Riordan is Using, I recommend altering their architecture to an N-Tiered design. N-Tiered “data applications are data applications that are separated into multiple tiers. Also called "distributed applications" and "multitier applications," n-tier applications separate processing into discrete tiers that are distributed between the client and the server” (Microsoft.com). Essentially this tier is the most consistent as well when factoring in the SDLC. The diagram at the end will demonstrate the following Application and Process Design for Riordan. Operational Requirements Riordan Manufacturing is one of the major companies that is growing in the industry. This requires most users to be mobile with a thin client server architecture could be used. It is easier to code the program or websites in HTML5. The system will then be able to work with the N-Tier view web based application or mobile apps designed for iOS, Android, or Windows OS. This will require most users to have......
