...Sample Paper Population definitionSuccessful statistical practice is based on focused problem definition. In sampling, this includes defining the population from which our sample is drawn. A population can be defined as including all people or items with the characteristic one wishes to understand. Because there is very rarely enough time or money to gather information from everyone or everything in a population, the goal becomes finding a representative sample (or subset) of that population. Sometimes that which defines a population is obvious. For example, a manufacturer needs to decide whether a batch of material from production is of high enough quality to be released to the customer, or should be sentenced for scrap or rework due to poor quality. In this case, the batch is the population. Although the population of interest often consists of physical objects, sometimes we need to sample over time, space, or some combination of these dimensions. For instance, an investigation of supermarket staffing could examine checkout line length at various times, or a study on endangered penguins might aim to understand their usage of various hunting grounds over time. For the time dimension, the focus may be on periods or discrete occasions. In other cases, our 'population' may be even less tangible. For example, Joseph Jagger studied the behaviour of roulette wheels at a casino in Monte Carlo, and used this to identify a biased wheel. In this case, the 'population' Jagger...

...considered a right. This argument’s corollary is that, given that we cannot touch without being touched, appropriate touch normally is and should be a source of pleasure to both giver and receiver. The proposed paper will respond to these theses with a caution: contemporary literature on child sexual abuse points out that abusers of children also, and especially, profess to embrace these beliefs. Neither a simple boundary distinction (do not touch particular persons in particular places) nor a test for intent (do not intend to harm or violate) adequately responds to the challenge posed by this fact. Thus it will argue that an adequate Christian ethic of touch depends on the possibility of developing powerful psychological and theological distinctions between nurturing and violating touch. The psychological prong of this argument will draw upon extensive contemporary research on child sexual abuse to argue that abusers either pursue an imagined egalitarian mutual love with their victims or use abuse to gain a sense of empowerment over them. In theological terms the root problems are a mis-labeling of the object of love (the good the lover desires); of the object’s true needs (the gift the lover offers); and of the union with the beloved (the character of mutual delight). The paper will argue that, theologically, “good touch” is a matter of rightly-ordered love and that a critical, feminist retrieval of love theology yields categories and distinctions that begin to illumine......

Sample Hypothesis Testing Paper

...Sample Hypothesis Testing Paper RES/342 Two-Sample Hypothesis Research Question A company decides to purchase homes to rent out to their employees. They have to decide if purchasing homes in a rural area is cheaper than purchasing homes from the inner city. 15 miles from the center of the city is inner city and anything passed 15 miles is rural area. The mean house pricing in the urban area is $232,736 out of a sample size of 59 with a standard deviation of $48,651. The mean house pricing in the rural area is $206,183 out of a sample size of 46 with a standard deviation of $40,896. At the 0.05 significance level, the company assumes that urban area is higher than rural area. Formulating a Verbal and Numeric Hypothesis To formulate a verbal and numerical hypothesis statement one must determine which type of two-sample statistic test the problem describes. The statement indicates that one would perform a right-tailed test. The words “is higher than” indicates that the alternate hypothesis will have the greater than sign in it. The statement also indicates that the standard deviation is known. Using this knowledge one may begin to formulate a verbal hypothesis. The researchers will test the hypothesis statement and try to find sufficient evidence to support the null hypothesis. If the evidence is insufficient one will reject the null hypothesis. If the evidence is sufficient one may fail to reject the null hypothesis. Simply put one is trying to figure out if the......

...APA Sample Term Paper: Tutoring College Students with AD(H)D Andrea Shettle English Works! Department Gallaudet University APA Sample Term Paper 2 Sample APA Research Paper: Tutoring College Students with AD(H)D We have all heard of the schoolboy who doesn't know how to stay in his seat at school; instead he climbs furniture and makes noise during work time. We have also all known a schoolgirl who looks out the window quietly daydreaming instead of paying attention to the teacher. We now know that the hyperactive boy has a neurological disorder called attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) (Hallowell & Ratey, 1994; Latham, 2000). Experts recently have agreed that the daydreaming girl also has ADHD - sometimes called ADD because it occurs without hyperactivity (Hallowell & Ratey, 1994). But what happens when the child with AD(H)D grows up? How can tutors work with college students who have AD(H)D? What AD(H)D Is College tutors need to understand what AD(H)D is before learning how to accommodate this condition. The three most important symptoms of AD(H)D are inattentiveness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity (DSM-IV, 1994; Hallowell & Ratey, 1994; Latham, 2000). The Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Health (DSM-IV) explains that simply having these symptoms is not enough to diagnose AD(H)D because everyone sometimes has the same symptoms. These symptoms must be "persistent" and they......

Favorable liquidity ratios are critical to a company and its creditors within a business or industry that does not provide a steady and predictable cash flow. They are also a key predictor of a company’s ability to make timely payments to creditors and to continue to meet obligations to lenders when faced with an unforeseen event. Sample Chart/Graph Paper

...Sample Chart/Graph Paper (Marhar, 2011) The graph above is a bar graph. A bar graph is typically the easiest to visualize data quickly. A bar graph is characteristically used for qualitative information. The longer the bar is the higher the frequency of information for that bar. It is imperative to label clearly so that readers know what they are precisely looking at and do not have to make assumptions (Bennett, Briggs, & Triola, 2009). This graph depicts the strategies to prevent readmissions into the hospital. I do believe that this graph is an appropriate choice to depict the data used from the study. This is the best graph to use because it is easy to glance at the graph and retrieve the information. The spacing in the graph is portrayed evenly, the scale on the vertical axis is evenly spread out, and the graph is titled, which is extremely important. Another option to display this information could be a line graph. Although I believe this graph is the best type of graph to use, I do not believe that the graph was assembled as well as it could have been. The graph is confusing on that the axes are not labeled as well as they could be. For example, the vertical axis should be labeled “Percent of readmissions into the hospital” or “Percent of individuals who were not readmitted into the hospital”. I found that in the article the information was not very clear to depict what the graph was showing. There should be a caption underneath the graph to explain the......
