Implication of the Assigned Report to Education
Prepared by: Maria Michelle L. Arevalo – MAED (EM)

Topic: EM 203 - School Seats and Tables, Storage and Displays; School Equipment; Fittings, Fixtures and Furnishings; Instructional Devices
The quality of a school’s environment and its facilities has a strong influence on students’ learning and this implication examines the school (First Crayons Learning Center, Antipolo City) where I’m presently employed and its importance to teaching and learning in the school system. It begins with a brief overview of our development site and plan, and relates it to educational planning. It has been observed that many schools are now paying more attention to their school plant. School plant which includes all educational facilities has been repeatedly found to have a positive relationship with quality of education.
Education today is delivered in an entirely new manner, with new tools, techniques, teaching methods, and changes in teaching methods require changes in school facilities.
As I went through my report, I can say that a school plant: * will gear up expected outcomes of education, that will facilitate good social, political and economic freedom; * initiates effective teaching and learning and academic performance of students; * is an essential aspect of educational planning because unless schools are well suited, buildings are satisfactorily constructed and equipment adequately provided, much teaching and learning may not take place. * needs to be evaluated, not only on how it meets changing educational requirements, but also on how it meets the environmental requirements for health, safety, and security.
The first time I received the topic for my report, honestly, I just took it very ordinarily not knowing that this will unveil vast knowledge of how from a small fittings to furnishings and devices…...

...for me! I work two jobs on a daily basis, so I actually go through this process twice. On my first job, I'm a supervisor for a residential treatment facility. Here we counsel children who are sexual abuse victims and offenders. Although, there is no strict dress code, it’s kind of known to be in business casual attire. By that being said, I know I shouldn’t wear any jerseys, shorts, or sneakers. So at night when I’m preparing myself for the next day, I automatically go to my polo style shirts. I then think about the activities that we have planned for the children for that day. If there is going to be a recreation activity, involving us to be outside. I then look at my jeans. If it’s going to be a day, where we conduct groups, have meetings, and visitors are going to be on campus. I go for my slacks. After figuring out my attire, now comes the process of getting them ready. I then pull out my commonly used household item the iron. I press my pants or jeans and hang them on the hanger. I then press my shirt and hang them over the pants. After everything is ironed, I placed them on the door knob. Next, I find some casual shoes to match and place my socks inside of them. I’m now ready for the next morning On my second job, the process is a little easier. I work for the YMCA. While there, I deal with kids after they get out of school. I basically assist them with their homework as they come in. In completing homework, recreation comes next. So the process of finding what to......

Public School over Others

...Public School vs. School Choice The education system is a very complex one. A common controversial topic is whether public school or school choice is a better option for a student. In my opinion, I would go with the public school system. There are many factors as to why I believe public is better than school choice, including reasons like location, religion, selectivity, and education itself. Unlike private schools, public schools are neighborhood schools, so there isn’t much issue for students with travel. Many private schools are far and must require a child to travel further from home. With distance between a student’s home and private school possibly greater than that of a public school, the amount of gas usage is greater. Parents must also remember financial considerations. The cost of private schools may be unreasonable to some families, even though financial aid is available to those who cannot afford the tuition. I know that my parents wanted to send me to a private school, but we could not afford it even with financial aid, and there are numerous families currently in the same situation I was in. By paying for private school, parents would think they are paying for the best education, but in actuality the top schools in America are really public schools. The top high school in American for the year 2011 is the School for the Talented and Gifted, with Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology ranking second, according to US......

...for me to have a better life.” Interviewer: How do you improve and maintain your own language proficiency? AR: “I maintain it by speaking the language daily and by reading, also by corresponding with family and friends in other countries, and by watching movies and television in the language. Speaking the target language all day long every day in class also helps.” Interviewer: What has been your biggest challenge in learning a second language? AR:” I find that sometimes my accent will change and I have to kind of stop and correct myself. Also sometime substitute word from Spanish when I am speaking in English when I can’t remember that word in English.” Interviewer: Please tell me a little bit out your experiences in ESL Programs? AR: “My first memories of school in the US when I was in 5th grade. I was in an ESL class with a Spanish teacher. I remember learning the American alphabet and learning vocabulary. I stayed in ESL classes until I went to high school and then I was put in I guess you would call them regular classes. I never felt excluded in these classes, but when I did get to high school I was one of few Spanish speaking students that went to that school and did feel like an outcast at times since their were not many students in the school who were ESL students. School Plant

...Incorporating School Safety Devices into School Plant Planning Michael Hassell Providence College October 7, 2013 Background and History Schools should be safe and secure places for all students, teachers, and staff members. Without a safe learning environment, teachers may have difficulty teaching and students may find their environment a difficult one in which to learn. (DeVoe, J. et al., 2012). Priorities set by schools, local authorities, and state and federal government have prompted the nation to focus on improving the safety of American schools. The safety of our school facilities has become one of the largest issues in education and has continued to be a concern of great importance. Although the most recent national indicators demonstrate that larger gains have been made in recent years, safety issues remain substantial problems in US school buildings. Between 2004 and 2012, there was a 46 percent decrease in the violent crime victimization rate at school. Despite this decline, students who are between the ages of 12 through 18 were victims of about 700,000 violent crimes and 1.2 million crimes of theft at school in the year 2012. (DeVoe, J. et al., 2012). Among the top trends in school safety are violence, theft, bullying, drugs, and most importantly, firearms. These issues continue to grow in many schools throughout the country indicating that more remains to be done to make our school facilities safer. Furthermore,......

However; my passion acting and TV did terrible for my academic’s. High school- senior year has always been the best year in high school; for me anyways. I was getting selected for plays, short films, debutante and much more. Nothing could mess up my senior year, until my guidance counselor call me into her office. “Lashaunde, we need to talk.” Ms. Ellis said. Her tone was very calm. That was unusually for her, being that was a “loud mouth.” I lashed back with “about what? “Being that she called me away from my rehearsal for debutante practice that I was on my way to. She started to ask me what my plans were for the future. Everyone knew what I wanted to be. Hell, they had me on the morning announcements. I lived for acting and broadcast. “Well when I graduate I plan on moving to New York or California to pursue acting! Duh! ” I said back with attitude. She started to bother me with college question. She told me that this was a big decision and I needed to figure out back up plans. She said “A college degree goes a long way, when you apply yourself.” I always wanted to go to college and I figured I would go one day, just not when I graduated. The Effect of Infrastructural Facilities on School Enrollment Rates and Learning Levels in Rural India

Analysis of the obtained data has been done by constructing state-wise tables for school infrastructural facilities and studying the trends in both, time-series and cross-sectional data. Only disaggregated data was available for school enrollment and learning levels (disaggregated age-group wise and gender-wise. While such data prove useful for analysis of gender, age and social gaps, for this project, they were more of an impediment). Ranking of different states was done for all of the disaggregated data and a weighted average (equal weights assigned to each state) was taken to determine the final ranking of states in terms of school attendance and learning levels. Working papers from CDS and DSE, obtained from the respective websites and EPW articles have also been used to aid the analysis. Cross-checking as to whether the inferences drawn from the analyses are in line with other reports and studies have also been done. Sampling Method A sample of......

Jrotc Differs from Other High School Courses

...JROTC is different from other classes you can take at your school. It has more emphasis on physical fitness. Each week, we run or do some other form of physical fitness. It keeps us all in shape and ready for anything. It also has a large emphasis on independence and leadership, and allows a higher rank if you pursue the military. Each week we do some form of physical fitness, whether it be running or playing a game. It keeps us in shape and ready to do whatever is asked of us. Each time we do a presidential fitness test, each of us improves in some area of the test. The physical fitness we do helps us to feel better about how we're doing because we see our constant improvements. Each cadet helps each other with everything. It's part of our leadership. If there is something we're not sure of, we can ask one of our other cadets or one of our leaders. Each of them will try to help to the best of their ability or they will find someone that can help us. We are encouraged to do what we can independently, but we are never denied help if we need it. If a cadet decides he or she would like to pursue a role in the military, they are granted a higher rank than someone that didn't take a JROTC class. JROTC is a basic military class. In the class, we each learn about the military and its history. If we need any extra information about any branch of the military, our leaders can help us find someone that could answer more of our questions if they can't answer them......

...Cancer borealis Cancer borealis ("Jonah crab") is found in the mid- to lower intertidal zone under algae and among rocks. This predator eats blue mussels and other invertebrates. The remains of this crab are often found in the upper intertidal zone, evidence of bird predation.   Carcinus maenas Carcinus maenas ("green crab") is found under algae and small rocks, and it eats other invertebrates in the mid- to lower intertidal zones. This crab is native to Europe and is an invasive species. The green crab is smaller than the Jonah crab.   Homarus americanus Homarus americanus ("American lobster") is a bottom-dwelling predator and scavenger. The American lobster is found throughout the Gulf of Maine, where it is commercially important. The lobster is found in rocky, subtidal habitats but, rarely, can be observed in lower intertidal pools.   Idotea balthica This herbivorous crustacean, an isopod, feeds on a variety of algae including large rockweeds (Ascophyllum, Fucus). It is common in the mid- and lower intertidal zones but is hard to see because its color usually matches the algae it is feeding on. This behavior helps it resist predation by fish. Individuals vary in color from yellow to brown to deep burgundy.   Semibalanus balanoides Semibalanus balanoides ("barnacles") are sessile filter feeders. Larvae settle in the spring and attach head down to the rock. They make heavy calcified plates, which protect them from predation and drying stress, and...

...The concept of this essay is to compare and contrast between the Scientific School of Thought and the Behaviorist School of Thought. To better understand this essay two matters must be understood, firstly understanding the meaning of management and secondly, the evolution of management. Management is a collection of different roles undertaken to achieve a job effectively. Another matter that needs to be understood is the evolution of management. Management has evolved from the classical approach to bureaucracy to human relations movement and social psychological schools and finally to modern approach to management. The individuals involved during the evolution of management are Frederick Winslow Taylor, Henri Fayol, Max Weber, and Elton Mayo. F. W. Taylor and Henri Fayol developed classical theories and were concerned with the arrangement and performance of a formal organisation. Max Weber developed a structure of organization known as bureaucracy. Weber developed six characteristics of bureaucracy as followed below: 1. Rules created by management, management will direct the lower levels of the organization by using in a steady and expected approach. 2. Separation of labour, each job is specified with different responsibilities and authority. 3. Hierarchical arrangement, each and every organization has a hierarchy of power. The top level staff gives direction to middle level staff and the middle level staff gives direction to the lower......

What Does It Mean to Be 'Other' in School

...Topic #2: What does it mean to be ‘other’ in schools? Frustration is a major theme in what it means to be ‘other’ in schools, not only for students but also for teachers. Delpit (1998) explores this and showcases interviews conducted with African American and Alaskan teachers in America. It is demonstrated in their testimonies the exasperation they felt due to the lack of interest by both co-workers and parents in hearing their own interpretation of education. They express their irritation of not truly being heard. While many teachers gave up on trying to communicate to parents about their children, other educators were oblivious that their dialogue had been silenced. They were, according to Delpit, mistaking a lack of argument for agreement. Arab-Australian ethnicity is explored in Mansouri and Trembath’s (2005) writings. They found that in 2001 there were 209,372 people who spoke Arabic at home across Australia (ABS, 2001). These recordings show that Arabic is the fourth largest language, other than English, spoken in Australia (Mansouri & Trembath, 2005). However through Mansouri and Trembath’s evaluations it was discovered that students who wore a hijab were subjected to several occurrences of verbal abuse at school. The female students interviewed expressed their upset of being identified as a terrorist because of their religion. The male students discussed experiences of being excluded from jobs due to Arabic names like ‘Osama’ and ‘Mohammed’. The students......

...chool administrators are worried about cyberspace usage especially when they visually see on the computer hit lists, bomb threats, character assassinations and defamations. Some school officials have took matters in their own hands by suspending, expelling or even banning students from use of computers. Do school administrators have the right to forbid free expression when the online communication posts are created from a home PC and not school regulated computer equipment? Social-networking websites (MySpace, Facebook, Xanga and Friendster) are extremely popular for instance, "more than 90 million people of all ages are registered users of MySpace – good portion of them teenagers. Now granted, majority of online communications is of clean material of favorite things and dislikes but occasionally there will be damaging statements about teachers or a list of classmates to which they want to hurt. Example, five students in Kansas were arrested in April 2006 for a plot to engage in a murderous spree on the seven-years anniversary of the infamous Columbine shootings. The United States House of Representatives passed The Deleting Online Predators Act of 2006 which consists of public schools and libraries to block student access to commercial social-networking sites such as MySpace.com Some individuals do not favor this bill because it unfairly blocs learning applications and websites necessary for the students to learn and communicate. In addition, there is already an act that...
