EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Healthcare organizations are facing funding constraints and budget deficits which have created a need to find greater value within the supply chain. With the reality of an aging and diverse population requiring different needs, they are under considerable pressure to improve financial and operational efficiency. As organizations head into the future they are striving to create a better system that achieves higher quality at lower costs. The formula to get there is to attain value, which equals quality over cost. Shared Service Organizations (SSO) exist to leverage volume Procure-to-Pay (P2P) procurement functions to secure better costs from its suppliers. This practice is becoming more common in the healthcare industry.

This relates to self-sacrifice and common experiences because many people sacrifice losing themselves to fit in with another group that may not be worth it in the end anyway. In the end the older boys’ attention didn’t even matter to Jerry, he felt like he didn’t need them anymore, he gained more confidence. The idea of shared value was initially explored by the authors in December 2006 HBR. Shared value is not social responsibility, philanthropy, or even sustainability, but a new way to achieve economic success. In the article Porter & Kramer criticize neoclassical thinking on the trade-off between societal needs and economic success, and the way the concept of ‘externalities’ have shaped corporate and policy strategy. Many people deal with their anguish through the assurance of religion, but how do others deal with these devastating feelings once their faith has vanished? Both the dignified old man and the older waiter in Ernest Hemingway’s “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place” share despair and have found methods to cope with their unhappiness. Both characters feel alone and in order to cope, they stay up late at the café. In addition, their unhappiness is caused by the loss of devotion in a country that is inspired by its religion. The older waiter and the timeworn man feel alone in a country consumed by people and religion. In the short story the younger waiters says, “He’s lonely. I’m not lonely. I have a wife waiting in bed for me.” (97) while the older waiter responds, “He had a wife once too.”(97). These lines cause me to believe that the old man once had a lover to go home to, and now that she’s gone, he only looks forward to staying up late at the café. The older waiter similarly feels the same solitude as the old man does. Hemingway states, “… he would go home to his room. He would lie in bed…” (99), this sentence indicates to me that the waiter also has no partner because it never states that he lies in bed with someone else. The purpose of the paper is to show not only how forms of shared capitalism in the workplace can increase overall employee compensation, but how several labor theories relate and support the outcomes of shared capitalism. Since the migration to reservation camps, things have changed a lot in the Lakota Sioux culture. Before the migration the Sioux were used to living off of the land, making clothing out of hides of leather and hunting for their own food. Now half of the Sioux live on reservations in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and some in the northern part of Montana. Most of them have a hard time just trying to survive because the way they use to live was the only thing they knew and they didn’t know any other ways of getting food other than hunting. The Sioux tribe was torn apart because of their land being stripped from them by white settlers.
