Flygplanet

Men vad gjorde man förr i tiden?

In particular, we identified a leveraged buyout capital structure to be suitable given STC’s proven earning growth and strong market position, along with significant opportunity for cost reduction. We conducted financial valuation using market comparison method. The purchase price is between 2,653 million and 3,243 million. The IRR of the project is 28% when exiting by the end of 5th year. Overall this project will generate steady growth with great upside potential and low company-wide or industry-wide risks. We will dive into the details of analyses in the sections followed. Method and Valuation Drivers Primarily, we used transaction multiple method of valuation. Given the very nature of LBO, these additional drivers need to be carefully considered when valuing equity return: 1. Purchase Price and exit price will directly affect the return generated. Exit price is calculated using exit multiple. A higher exit multiple will increase estimation for selling price and thus the underlying equity value. 2. Leverage Ratio: A higher......

...Airplane is an invention of mankind that let the people to make the dream of flying come true. From ancient times people were dreaming of flying like the birds. In different periods of time, inventors were trying to achieve how to make it happen by the different means. The first draft of the flying machine was created by Leonardo da Vinci in 15th century, but in 1903 the first real flight was achieved by Wright Brothers. The dream of mankind was finally achieved to fly as a bird. In first years of the twentieth century, airplane industry was developing very quickly. Different countries started to engineer their own planes. Airplane industry was divided into two directions: it became civil, and defensive. In process of two world wars aviation was playing a big role. In 50’s of the last century aviation had changed dramatically. Airplanes started to fly hypersonic speed. There have been invented civil aircrafts and military fighters. Aviation was generating a huge profit. New corporation were founded, such as Boeing, Airbus, European Space Corporation, and Russian soviet State Aircraft Industry. Civil aviation made it possible for people to travel faster and plan long distance voyages all around the world. Air cargo carriage has increased quantities of the products that have been moved and decreased the time of the process, in result economies of the different countries have experienced an unseen before development, and increased an employment all around the......

Initial Sizing of an Airplane

...design space. On putting values of all parameters and then plotting in matlab, design space is obtained. The code for plotting the sizing matrix plot is given in Appendix A(a). In the design space the optimum design point is obtained by calculating the score of the point based on its weightage. (The weightage of various design parameters is given in Appendix A(b). REGRESSION ANALYSIS A regression analysis was done to find out the statistical relation between empty weight fraction of an airplane and various design driving parameters such as wing loading, power loading, aspect ratio, dash speed etc. The regression was done by obtaining the values of various design parameters of aircrafts of the same class. The code for regression is given in Appendix B. INITIAL SIZING Initial sizing of weight is one of the first calculations done in early design phase. The weight is calculated from the following equation. , where Wfuel =weight of the fuel/gross takeoff weight Wempty=empty weight of airplane/gross takeoff weight In the above equation the unknowns are Wfuel and Wempty. To calculate fuel weight fraction: Breguet’s Endurance equation is used to calculate the mission weight fractions of various mission segments. Using the above equation mission weight fractions of various mission segments such as take-off, landing, loiter etc. When mission weight fractions of all mission segments is known then (initial weight/final weight) fraction is calculated by multiplying......

Airplanes

...Thrust and Lift "Thrust" and "lift" are two other forces that help your plane make a long flight. Thrust is the forward movement of the plane. The initial thrust comes from the muscles of the "pilot" as the paper airplane is launched. After this, paper airplanes are really gliders, converting altitude to forward motion. Lift comes when the air below the airplane wing is pushing up harder than the air above it is pushing down. It is this difference in pressure that enables the plane to fly. Pressure can be reduced on a wing's surface by making the air move over it more quickly. The wings of a plane are curved so that the air moves more quickly over the top of the wing, resulting in an upward push, or lift, on the wing. The Four Forces in Balance History of the Paper Airplane There is some evidence of paper kites and gliders that originated in Ancient China and Japan. In Europe, it was only during the Renaissance period onwards that inventors attempted to create paper models of a machine that could fly. The Wright brothers were the ones who invented airplanes, and they did this by testing out miniature paper models! Toy paper planes only became popular much later, during WWII. Since all materials and supplies were rationed, children made or received airplanes made from paper instead of metal, wood, or plastic!...

Swedish Daddies

...Case Study 9.5: Swedish Daddies I am a single mother of a 17 year old boy named Alonzo. Alonzo was planned by his father and me, but our planning certainly didn't prepare us for the workforce, or life itself. At the time ALonzo was born, I was working as a care giver in a home. I worked up until my last week of pregnancy and stopped only because I was overdue and the doctor told me to stay home. The low paying job I had did not have maternity leave, maternity pay or even a reassurance that I would be employed when I returned. It most definitely did not have paternity leave. I was forced to apply with the state for a monthly payment of $621 that lasted for 3 months. After the three months were up, regardless of your situation, the payments stopped and as far as the state was concerned, you were on your own. After my unemployed child's father decided to leave us, I was exactly that. On my own. I tried really hard to find babysitters that were reliable, and that actually liked children. It was very difficult to find help, and I didn't have a vehicle during that period. Daycare was outrageously expensive, and often I worked at night, and day cares then were only open until 6. At times I was so desperate, I would leave my son with a neighbor who I knew my son didn't like, but I had no choice. There is nothing more frightening then my child screaming with tears streaming down his little cheeks, at the sight of this neighbors front door. There simply was no way......

The balance I have with the family I do have is no more than going to work, visiting my parents or hanging out with my sister on occasion. I work more than anything dealing with my family life and other than those things I stay to myself. Overall, it is a fairly balanced between my career and family life. The current mindset of corporate America at the moment is conducive to the type of work and family arrangement I have. Due to the fact I have no family life, as in wife and children, I am much more flexible in how I balance my career and family life. The major reason why the current mindset of corporate America is conducive to a balanced career and family life for is me is simple in that I am single and if I have to work my parents and sister understand and doesn’t impact the relationship between us. Maternity Leave in the United States When approaching the subject of paid maternity leave, the United States tends to fall behind many countries around the globe. Many companies in the United States do allow a short maternity leave, which is often unpaid or requires mothers to expend what...

Swedish Daddies

...Case 9.5: Swedish Daddies Heslin Cyrus Strayer University Dr. Jean-Francois Orsini February 28, 2015 The balance that I currently seek between career and family life is very little these days. There was a time in my life when there was a struggle between the two, but now my children are young adults, one is on his own and the other now in her second year of college. This does not mean that they are not as important as they were when they were younger, but only that they are more self-sufficient and I am not needed as much. We all have to turn let the “apron string” go at some point in their lives so that they may experience life on their own. Looking back over the years, there were times when I desperately wanted to attend several football games that my son participated in, but was unable to because of my pursuit of a higher level position in the company. Then there were all the cheerleader competitions across the state that I missed because of career status. As work would have it, choices had to be made when it came to sitting in the stands cheering on my kids, or climbing the corporate ladder to success so that I could have the time needed to spend with them. Well, time rolled by and I continued to climb at the expense of the needs of my children. We survived. In my current position I am faced with making those pivotal decisions for those under me and I must admit, the task is somewhat difficult, however I must consider the “needs of the business” and not the......

...Zach Savidge [Ying Jiang] Hugo Ou [Gabriel La Spada] ECO 363 4/13/2014 Swedish Match Case 1. The company will save 4.5%×4,000,000,000×28%= SEK 50,400,000 annually. We assume the debt Swedish Match issues is a 10-year maturity coupon bond as the average BBB corporate bond (the CFO believes Swedish Match will receive a BBB+ rating) with the yield closest to that of Swedish Match’s debt is the 10-year maturity. Moreover, we do not assume that this debt will be refinanced into perpetuity because the financing decisions of Swedish Match are clearly dynamic - the board will only decide on the issuance of this one bond as the upcoming board meeting, not whether the fixed debt level will be maintained through refinancing once the proposed bond reaches maturity. Thus the value of the tax shield represents a 10-year annuity. Lastly, we assume the risk of the tax shield is equivalent to that of the debt because we are estimating the value of the tax shield of a fixed dollar value level of debt (as opposed to a level of debt that is a fixed percentage of Swedish Match’s enterprise value). Hence the discount rate for the annuity is the 4.5% yield to maturity of the debt. Value of Tax Shield = 2. Post-Recap, Swedish Match will have an additional SEK 4 billion in debt and have SEK 4.5 billion less in book value equity. The pre and post recap balance sheets as of 2004 are shown below. Swedish Daddies

...Assignment 2: Swedish Daddies Jo Ratliff Dr. Diane McGeehan BUS309: Business Ethics February 25, 2015   Assignment 2: Swedish Daddies Introduction It is difficult to balance family life and to work full time. When children are first born, one has to choose between a child care service and staying home yourself to take care of your children. The balance is comprised of more than just child care; as the children get older its school and extra circular activities. In the sixties and seventies not all women worked full time. At the same time men in this country at least were not as involved in the day to day upbringing of their children. Many European countries are helping men to become more involved in their children’s nurturing from birth. They are provided paternity leave along with maternity leave. This makes for healthier and happier families and that equates productive and contented workers. Case Summary The article from the textbook tells of Sweden taking a different stand. “Whereas America stands almost alone in the world in not guaranteeing women paid maternity leave, Sweden provides sixteen months paid leave per child, with the cost shared between the employer and the government” (Shaw, 2014). Sweden, Germany and Iceland all provide varying amounts of time off for new parents. These countries are attempting remove distinction between men and women when it comes to working and having a family. America can learn a lot from these countries...

Narrative Airplane

...English Composition 02 September 2015 My First Airplane Ride The first time I few on an airplane was thrilling. The fear of the unknown can be very exciting, but also very nerve racking. It was March of 2012, departing from Wichita, layover in Denver, and final destination Seattle Washington. I’ve seen it hundreds of times in the movies, but experiencing it for real is something one just cannot capture on screen. The rush of the takeoff, the smooth flying, even the flight attendants are things I will never forget. The Wichita airport was surprisingly deserted, the long corridors leading to a large, mostly empty room. The emptiness of the huge building was surprising, and had a bit of an eerie feeling. “Well, at least the lines aren’t long” I thought. Check in was easy enough, handing my I.D to the lady behind the counter. With a big smile she handed me my boarding pass, and wished me a safe flight. Going through security didn’t take long. I had heard that I would have to take off my shoes, but I hadn’t thought about my belt. After taking a minute to re-dress myself after the security check point, I looked down at my ticket and headed to the terminal. Finding the terminal gate was also easy, we appeared to be the only flight scheduled that time and for that side of the airport. I found a seat, close to the window and sat down. As the clock ticked closer and closer to the departure time I could feel my nerves rise. Then, the airplane appeared right outside the window. It......

The Airplane and Its History

...The Airplane and its History Robert Dobson Thomas Edison State University THE AIRPLANE AND ITS HISTORY 2 The Airplane and its History I am currently finishing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology degree in Aviation Flight Technology at Thomas Edison State University. I have also been a pilot for twenty years, professionally for the past sixteen years. For these reasons, I have chosen the airplane and its history as the technology that will serve as the subject of this assignment. First, I will explain what an airplane is. Next, I will explain how an airplane works. Finally, I will give a brief history of the airplane. So what is an airplane? I'm joking! Everyone in the world knows what an airplane is unless they've lived in a stone age society their whole life. Even so, I'll begin by defining exactly what an airplane is and how they work. An airplane is a powered, fixed-wing vessel that travels through the air (Airplane, n.d.). The airplane has wings that provide the force of lift in order for the airplane to overcome the force of gravity and climb off the ground and stay airborne. In order for the wings to do their job of providing lift, the airplane must be propelled forward so that the wings can get sufficient airflow to generate the necessary force and overcome the force of drag. The propulsion methods usually employed are through use of engine driven......

A key character of Swedish Model is the collective agreement, in other words, Swedish government is less involved in labor relations, collaborated relation between employers and employees provides employee cooperation in companies, such as wage moderation, decision-making. They can be more engaged in corporate governance. Then, the collective agreement is based on strong trade unions and employers organizations.
