The Mother-In-Law

“My mother is coming today, we have to clean up or you know she’ll complain babe.” said, 24 year old married Cindy, while hitting her husband on the arm. “Come on! She comes every weekend, aren’t you getting tired of her?” Chad said, while getting up from his deep sleep. “Cause I know I am’’ he said under his breath. Then the doorbell rang. Cindy hurry up and put on some clothes and zoomed down the stairs knowing her mother was going to be agitated. The doorbell rang about five more times before Cindy got to it. “Well it took you long enough.’’ her mother said as she walked in the house. Cindy’s mother name was Candy, she always liked to wear expensive things, and Cindy knew that her mother disliked her husband Chad. But what could she do about it? She loved them both dearly. But her mother quickly snapped her out of her thought complaining about their house being so dirty. Cindy looked around the downstairs of her house then looked in the nearest mirror. Cindy was light-skinned with long curly hair that touched her back, and she was super skinny. She thought about how her husband and her met. She went to a bar about 4 years ago and her husband (Chad) was her bartender and he gave her drinks for free, she just stared at him the whole time while she was in the bar. He was dark-skinned, about 6’7, with long hair such as herself and he was buff. She loved taller guys, since she was only 5’3. “Cindy, what did you cook for mother this morning?” said Candy.
“I just woke up mother, give me a break! Why can’t you cook yourself? We have all that food in there and you expect me to be your chef.” replied Cindy. “Well fine, since you want to act like a little baby I’ll cook for myself. Where’s that lazy husband of yours?” shot back, Candy. “Right here” said Chad, as he came yawning down the stairs. “Can you cook me some food while your at it?” he said, as he saw his mother-in-law getting food breakfast out of the cabinets. “Sure baby, why not?” she replied with a devilish grin. “Weird” Chad whispered, to his wife Cindy. Cindy just shrugged. “My stomach don’t feel so good babe.” Chad said, as he came out of the bathroom for the fourth time. “Maybe it’s something you ate, what did my mom cook anyway?” It had been two hours since Cindy’s mother had cooked, and Chad said it had been deliciously good, something he’d never tasted before…...

...affected me everyday. My mother, by far, has had the greatest impact on my life. Her heart and determination are something that I can only hope to have myself one day. I have watched her struggle with running a household while trying to balance returning to college full-time and working a part-time job. I did not realize as a young child what courage it took to take on this workload. Now, as I enter the college scene directly from high school, I cannot imagine how hard it must have been to juggle the everyday work of being a full-time mother as well as the workload of college. She never hesitated to drop everything to rush my brother and me to dance, soccer, riding, or karate. I could always look up from the sidelines of a game to see her cheering me on, while she held an armload of books and tried to occupy my brother. My mother has shown me that with determination and perservance one can accomplish anything. As the years passed, she could be found studying for a test while sewing the sequins on my dance recital costume. She finally graduated four years later, summa cum lauda from Keene State. Now she was faced with the task of finding a job, which proved to be even more difficult than receiving her degree. When she finally landed a job about a half hour away, never did she complain about the ride or the terrors she encountered in the classroom. She worked hard every day to provide her classroom of children the best education possible. I have seen my mother give up......

Evil

...The Problem of Evil William Lane Craig Examines both the logical and probabilistic arguments against God from suffering and evil. The problem of evil is certainly the greatest obstacle to belief in the existence of God. When I ponder both the extent and depth of suffering in the world, whether due to man’s inhumanity to man or to natural disasters, then I must confess that I find it hard to believe that God exists. No doubt many of you have felt the same way. Perhaps we should all become atheists. But that’s a pretty big step to take. How can we be sure that God does not exist? Perhaps there’s a reason why God permits all the evil in the world. Perhaps it somehow all fits into the grand scheme of things, which we can only dimly discern, if at all. How do we know? As a Christian theist, I’m persuaded that the problem of evil, terrible as it is, does not in the end constitute a disproof of the existence of God. On the contrary, in fact, I think that Christian theism is man’s last best hope of solving the problem of evil. In order to explain why I feel this way, it will be helpful to draw some distinctions to keep our thinking clear. First, we must distinguish between the intellectual problem of evil and the emotional problem of evil. The intellectual problem of evil concerns how to give a rational explanation of how God and evil can co-exist. The emotional problem of evil concerns how to dissolve people’s emotional dislike of a God who would permit......

Mother

...One of the most important people in everyone’s life is our mother. Before birth, their body was in pain to carry us in their wombs for about nine months. They vomited their food, they suffered from headaches, and felt the weakness of their body every morning. But because they are mothers, they never complain. They make all these sacrifices wholeheartedly without anything in return. Being a mom is not a job. For me, it is the most wonderful part of being a woman. It is something you learn as you go and constantly striving to be a better person for your child. Our children are our future so we have to do our best at raising them to be the best people they can be. It has the challenges especially in these difficult economic times. It’s hard to maintain the happy and secure home their children are used too. It’s hard to keep them out of all the stress of difficult financial situation without making them insecure or worried. Our mother is the one who changed our diapers, stayed up late for us and sacrificed everything she had just for us. She often takes the fallout for the toddler tantrums and the teenage angst. Despite that, she generally loves her children no matter what they do. We sometimes extol our mother’s sacrifices from when we were infants, yet, we cannot describe her “real” sacrifices and hardships unless we experience them. They care for us as if we are golden treasures that they are eager to protect us from harmful humans and incidents. In the middle......

...Families are thus the building blocks upon which rests the fate of society. For the development of good families, a mother plays a vital role. Mothers have a lot of responsibilities, from the beginning of making a family until the time when her children are old enough to be independent and make their own families. However, life is not easy nowadays. Earning money is difficult that is why a lot of mothers chose to work. Unlike before where only men or fathers earn in a family, on this generation it is very common that mothers are also working in order for their own families to have a better future. In line with this, education can be of great help for mothers to get a better job. Because better job means bigger salary especially when the degree they got is very in demand nowadays or in different countries where the offer is nicer. Education also helps mothers to get a better position in the company which may give them benefits of earning enough money for the budget of the family. ...play a large role in who we are today, and who we will be in the future. The biggest influence may come from our family; my mother is mine. She taught me everything from how to eat healthy and dress myself, to how to react to any situation. She taught me little things like how to tie my shoes and to be polite and respectful to adults. I would be lost without my mother, I can trust her, and she’s really important to me. Here’s why: She Listens to Me My mother is my security blanket. No matter how bad of a day she had, she will always be there to listen to me. I talk to her about everything — even things that aren’t always easy to talk about, like my period. Even if she's been screamed at by my siblings all day, she will still be eager to hear me squeal over my drama-filled teenage gossip or vent about how overwhelming life can be. She puts up with my mood swings, my constant chatter and my continuous requests — and still manages to keep our home, and everyone in it, in order. She Calms Me Down Whenever something becomes too much for me, she is there calming me down — giving me a hug and telling me it’s going to be OK. She can even prevent me from hyperventilating by finding my “lost” textbook (it was, of course, in the open, in the first place I checked). No matter what the scenario is, my mother always makes me feel better. And she does this all with a smile — even when I forget to say thank you....

Mother

...Mother The poem “Mother” is a song written by the British band Pink Floyd, and it appears for the first time on their album “The Wall” from 1979. The poem is about a guy who’s got a very overprotecting mother. His mother wants to interfere in everything in her son’s life, and therefore he doesn’t get to do anything by himself. He doesn’t get to develop. The themes in the poem “Mother” is development, adolescence & the “mother to son”-relationship. The poem isn’t shaped like a normal song. It contains four verses, where the first and the third verse, plus the last sentence are the son talking to his mother, and where the second and the fourth verse is the mother talking to her son. In the first verse, the son asks his mother seven questions about the outside world. The mother replies to him in the second verse, where she is telling him that she is going to take care of him (“Momma's will keep Baby cozy and warm.”) They keep on communicating with each other all the way through the poem. It also says in the second verse, that “Momma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true. Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you” I interpret that as a very overprotecting mother, who always keeps everything that she think is dangerous away from her child. In that way, the child won’t get the experience that he needs to be an independent person, so he’ll take over his mothers fears, when he grow older. In the third verse, the boy is telling his mother about a girl. He is worried that......

Evil in Human and Mother Nature

...The Evil of Human Nature and Mother Nature When someone has what they call a great day, there is always an aspect of it that they would say was not too great. If a person were to think back to the best day of their lives, they would also be able to remember something that troubled them that same day. The size of the ‘troubling’ or ‘bad’ aspect doesn’t dismiss the fact that there was indeed a point of evil in their day. If a man was planning to propose to his girlfriend that night after dinner, and he had a whole plan and was ready to pop the question, and she doesn’t quite go with his plan like he thought she would, forcing him to improvise. We all know that improvising for something as big as a proposal is a very hard and stressful thing; all you want is for it to be perfect. In the end, he still proposes to her as best he could think and she happily says yes. This is a great day for the both of them; they are now a happily engaged couple. As much as he may think of how happy that night was, he will always remember the struggle he went through to make it as special as he could. Unintentional, yes, but it doesn’t change the fact that he was troubled, and had to go an extra mile for a bad reaction to his plan from his girlfriend, now fiancée. His day was still great and he is still very happy with his outcome, although it may not have been all perfect. However good your day may be, there is always going to be some aspect of evil. A very common way that ‘evil’ is brought......

Is Mary Evil

...Lamb To the Slaughter: Is Mary Evil? By Tony Cui In the short story Lamb to the Slaughter written by Roald Dahl, who was a famous British author. One of the main characters Mary Maloney killed her husband, who was a police officer during a conflict due to a conversation. Afraid of getting caught, she plans a perfect alibi and made the police destroy the evidence for her by invite them to ate the lamb leg she used as a weapon to kill her husband. Although some suggest that Mary is evil and both her murder and covering it up is due to her evilness; I think the truth is just the opposite, Mary isn’t evil and both her murder and cover up are due to accident and necessity. There are three reasons that support my viewpoint: “Firstly, before the accident has occurred her husband was the person who acted cold and refused everything Mary said to try to make him happy, so it suggest that Mary is not a wicked person; secondly, her husband betrayed her first and she was mad due to this; lastly, the reason for Mary to cover up the murder is because that she is pregnant with a child, and she wasn’t sure that if the court would let her born the child before her death penalty. In the story, Mary’s husband acted cold after he went back to home, he rejected all suggestion Mary made to try to make him happy. He refused to have some cheese, going out to eat, and to have some cheese and crackers. When Mary wants to refill his drink, he ordered Mary to “sit down” and he went to do it himself.......

...As a reader, I looked at this text as a revelation. This text gave me a sudden realization that I too share the same background as Tan and that I too have a mother tongue of my own. The text was very relatable in my perspective. Growing up, I've experienced events similar to the ones Tan spoke of. I remember my father being scolded by the owner of a deli across the street that he was stupid, cheap, and that he should go back to China based on his irregular English. I also remember my mother being turned away during parent teacher conference because the teacher simply did not want to bother with my mother's English. My mother and father was not taken seriously just like how Tan's mother was not either. Although I can relate to the author very much so and agree that language should not serve as a barrier to the way we try to understand or be understood by each other, many other people may disagree. Many people do not have thick and choppy accents like Chinese Americans. Not many have the ability to see the image that Tan is trying to convey: the idea of a language that speaks to all also known as her Mother Tongue. Tan also does not consider the fact that many people may not have their own Mother Tongue or that English may have been their first language. Therefore, they may not be able to understand that Mother Tongue is not simply, just another language. It is another language with structure and vocabulary, just like any other language. It seems that Tan......
