Three Abbreviated Research Plans
Introduction
This paper demonstrates research methods that are used in investigations of health disparities in the United States. Research is a process of investigating concepts and theories that will contribute to a scientific body of knowledge. When presented with a problem, researchers or healthcare specialist can use a quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approach to solutions or explore avenues that might improve health, health outcomes and health services (Bowling, 2002). As health disparities grow in the United States and research is ongoing, three abbreviated research plans are presented as probable solutions to this concern targeting communities and populations that are underserved.
Comparison and Evaluation of Strengths and Limitations of Research Methods
Used in These Abbreviated Plans Research is an organized investigation to explain, describe, and control an observed phenomenon that involves inductive and deductive methods. Researchers will use a quantitative research design to verify that the research method used is valid and will produce accurate scientific results (Vidgen, n.d.). The strengths involved in using the quantitative research method can test and validate theories that have been already formed about why and how phenomena occur. Quantitative research allows the researcher to measure and analyze data that is précis which may help eliminate the influence of many variables and allow more reliable cause-and-effect relationships (Jones, n.d.). A disadvantage in quantitative research is based on figures and not always up to date. It’s usually in constant need of updating because numbers change (Advantages and Disadvantages of Quantitative Research, 2011). Additionally, researcher’s categories and theories that are used might not reflect the populations understanding of the information collected…...

Research Plan

...Initial Research Plan Initial introductory info Research idea: We plan on trying to figure out if there is a difference running indoors compared to running outdoors. We want to see if people unconsciously run faster outdoors by timing the mile indoors and mile outdoors. Basic hypothesis (doesn’t need to include operational definitions): We think that people will unconsciously run faster outdoors no matter what type of runner they are. Previous research to be included in the introduction: 1. LaCaille, R. A., Masters, K. S., & Heath, E. M. (2002). Effects of cognitive strategy and exercise setting on running performance, perceived exertion, affect, and satisfaction. Psychology of Sport and Exercise, 5(4), 461-476. 2. Kerr, J. We would give a survey asking basic questions before we test the participants, after one group is timed indoors and one group timed outdoors running the mile we will then ask them a few more questions pertaining to how they think they did. Then we will switch the groups so that......

Research Plan

...Research Plan As part of your research plan, you must first draft a research question for your research paper that will guide the rest of your writing. A research question, which is more specific and focused than a general topic, is the question that your research paper will be answering. For example, if your general area of interest is social security, a possible research question might ask “How can low-income families save more money if the United States had a reformed social security plan that includes personal retirement accounts?” As you develop a research question, keep in mind that you will need to research sources to support your topic. Do not pick a one-sided question that will limit your research. Instead, develop a research question that lends itself to further exploration and debate—a question for which you genuinely want to know the answer. Try to pick a research question that is neither too broad, which covers too much, or too narrow, which covers too little. It should be broad enough to be discussed in a short research paper. What is your general topic or area of interest? My general topic is “Recycling”, which is one topic from the list provided in the syllabus. Recycling is an important part of my life, because I care deeply about our environment. I was taught to recycle at a young age, and was somewhat shocked to see how careless consumers are here in the United States, and the “throw-away” mentality most consumers have. What is it about your......

Research Plan

...Research Plan Rachel H. Johnson 504-699-5901 March 25, 2014 Research Proposal 1. Research Topic Introduction The purpose of my research topic Is descriptive .My descriptive research will allow me to identify and obtain information on social media and how it affects our youths. The research question I wish to answer is: Are children under the age of 18 mature enough to have unrestricted access to social media: As a community, how can we better protect our children who use social media? I have chosen this topic partly as a result of my interest in how we as a country are evolving so quickly with technology, but our children values and morals seem to be diminishing even quicker and social media has giving them the platform . Additionally, I recently was very disturbed when I viewed a program on Dr. Phil which profiled several families that were mourning the loss of their children and how the reckless use of social media was a culprit in the scheme of it all. I was intrigued by how the use of something so easily available, like social media, could cause a child to engage in risky behaviors or even kill oneself. When I was growing up, technology of a landline was a privilege in some homes and we only used it for educational purpose. Because there are so many children who use social media, I wanted to further investigate the pros and cons of it, so that whatever position I chose, it would be an informed one. 2. Current Review of Literature The......

Strength and Limitation of Research Methods The two major strengths found in the quantitative research methods are that using the strategy of inquiry, the researcher have the chance to test and confirm presented theories about how and why incident happen and test theory assemble before the information is achieve to study a large number of people in a determined community or population (Creswell, 2009). The next strength of this research is that based on the findings, the investigator can make an overview when the composed information is based on casual samples of major size (Creswell, 2009). According to Creswell (2009), the strength for the qualitative methods is the data...
