Personal Life Experience
A personal life experience of the Plan, Do, Study and Act cycle is my decision to go back to school to get my Masters degree in Engineering. The planning required me to define the length of time it would take for me to finish my degree. The key sequence of events were for me to let my manager know of my intention to get my degree and that it would not affect my job performance. Then I had to lay our my educational plan and my overall purpose of getting my degree. The Do cycle required me register for a class and ensure that it didn’t interfere with my job performance. Another key part of the do process was for me to study and get a passing grade. The Study cycle required me to study for my exams and assignments on my own time and not on company time. The Act cycle requires me to continue to push myself to finish my degree in a recent amount of time.

Work Experience

...consistently meets or exceeds customer requirements. TQM places strong focus on process measurement and controls as means of continuous improvement. TQM views an organization as a collection of processes. It maintains that organizations must strive to continuously improve these processes by incorporating the knowledge and experiences of workers. The simple objective of TQM is "Do the right things, right the first time, every time". TQM is infinitely variable and adaptable. Although originally applied to manufacturing operations, and for a number of years only used in that area, TQM is now becoming recognized as a generic management tool, just as applicable in service and public sector organizations. There are a number of evolutionary strands, with different sectors creating their own versions from the common ancestor. TQM has three main principles. The first and major TQM principle is to satisfy the customer--the person who pays for the product or service. Customers want to get their money's worth from a product or service they purchase. A second TQM principle is to satisfy the supplier, which is the person or organization from whom you are purchasing goods or services. The third principle of TQM is continuous improvement. You can never be satisfied with the method used, because there always can be improvements. Certainly, the competition is improving, so it is very necessary to strive to keep ahead of the game. Introduction The hospitality industry is a service based industry as services are produced and consumed in real time and are inherently variable – from customer to customer, from provider to provider and from time to time for the same customer and/or the same provider (John 2003). Total quality management (TQM) in the hospitality industry has risen to amazing levels due to preferences, customer behavior and competition to retain and attract new customers. This has resulted in the demand for quality service thus necessitating the need to implement TQM strategies to have a competitive edge over other players in the industry. QUALITY CULTURE Culture is the shared beliefs, values, attitudes, institutions, and behavior patterns that characterize the members of a community or organization. In a healthy business culture, what's good for the company and for customers comes together and becomes the driving force behind what everyone does. LITERATURE REVIEW This analysis of quality culture is an evolving exploration. At the 2007 EAIR Forum in Innsbruck Bjorn Stensaker and Lee Harvey explored the issue of quality culture (Harvey and Stensaker, 2008). They suggested, following Williams (1983) that quality culture is a complex concept. They explored the numerous definitions of culture and how its meaning changed over time, not least from an élite notion of ‘high culture’ through to a more democratic view of multiple cultures and subcultures. They suggested that, at core, culture is shared, learned and symbolic. In short, culture is a way......

...Introduction Businesses enterprise has been realized that there is a need to restructure their business practices and become more customer-focused. All recent business approaches and techniques have generally aimed at improving performance, increasing profits, gaining market share, and most importantly satisfying the customer who has become more educated and more demanding than ever. In the last two decades two organizational development models have dominated the business world for a considerable period of time namely Total Quality Management (TQM) and Core Process Re-engineering (CPR). TQM and CPR share a cross-functional relationship. Quality specialists tend to focus on incremental change and gradual improvement of processes, while proponents of re-engineering often seek radical redesign and drastic improvement of processes. Quality management often referred to as TQM or continuous improvement, means programs and initiatives, which emphasize incremental improvement in work processes, and outputs over an open-ended period of time. In contrast, reengineering, also known as business process redesign or process innovation, refers to prudent initiatives intended to achieve radically redesigned and improved work processes in a specific time frame. In contrast to continuous improvement, CPR relies on a different school of thought. The extreme difference between continuous process improvement and core process reengineering lies in where the start from and also the magnitude......
