...General Format MLA style specifies guidelines for formatting manuscripts and using the English language in writing. MLA style also provides writers with a system for referencing their sources through parenthetical citation in their essays and Works Cited pages. Writers who properly use MLA also build their credibility by demonstrating accountability to their source material. Most importantly, the use of MLA style can protect writers from accusations of plagiarism, which is the purposeful or accidental uncredited use of source material by other writers. If you are asked to use MLA format, be sure to consult the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (7th edition). Publishing scholars and graduate students should also consult the MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing (3rd edition). The MLA Handbook is available in most writing centers and reference libraries; it is also widely available in bookstores, libraries, and at the MLA web site. See the Additional Resources section of this handout for a list of helpful books and sites about using MLA style. Paper Format The preparation of papers and manuscripts in MLA style is covered in chapter four of the MLA Handbook, and chapter four of the MLA Style Manual. Below are some basic guidelines for formatting a paper in MLA style. Uniforms

...Uniforms By: Madison Price Due date: May 3rd, 2013 Outline Topic: Why we shouldn’t have uniforms Intro: The administrators at our wonderful school are very understanding hopefully they will understand my suggestion. All students should be able to show who they are in their clothes. To do that we should never have to wear uniforms. Reason 1: Individuality is how people express themselves by wearing clothes that describe themselves more and by making them wear uniforms they aren't wearing something that is unlike everyone else so they can’t be individual. Reason 2: If more students aren't wearing what they want they’re going to rebel and be meaner then they usually are because they can’t have their clothes the way they want them. More students are going to misbehave and rebel. All those students want are their own styles and fashion statements. Pow: When the administrators put so much focus on what the kids are wearing they may not know how they feel about the uniforms and how comfortable they are in their normal clothes. The administrators care more about the students are wearing than, what their personalities put into their outfits. KB: Administrators may think that their student’s outfits distract them from their work but, most student in River Oaks Middle School love to be comfortable and if they aren't comfortable how is that going to help them with their work when they......

No Uniform

...We Should Not All Be Uniform! Every day, millions of teenagers spend between six and eight hours in America’s high schools. They sit at their desks, listen to their teachers, and do their school work. In some of these schools, however, they are also forced to dress in school uniforms. This restriction is really too much. In America’s high schools, students should not be forced to wear uniforms because they take away a student’s sense of individuality, they do not allow for self-expression, and they absolutely do not save families any money. First of all, students should not wear uniforms because they take away a student’s sense of individuality. Imagine this: 30 students sit in desks in a small classroom. Each student wears tan pants and a white shirt. They sit with their school books and papers in front of them. They all look exactly alike. Does this seem right? Of course not! We are all individuals! We are unique in many different ways. Why try to make all students look alike? This idea is supported by testimony from a 17-year-old student forced to wear uniforms. Her story was reported in National Catholic Reporter of March, 2002, and she said, "Everyone hated it. It completely killed any sense of individuality any one of us had. Everyone looked the same. It was sad to 27 Duddles 2 watch" (3). Clearly, students with experience in wearing uniforms feel that they take away a sense of individuality. Next, school uniforms do not allow students to express......

Uniforms

...School Uniforms For decades, schools, parents and students have argued over the issue of regulating student attire. Uniforms have been instituted throughout history for the purpose of instilling a sense of unity and membership among groups from girl scouts to the National Guard. School boards encouraged that enforcing a type of uniform for the students will help prevent violence, and improve school safety and academic discipline. Parents, however, ponder over how much of an impact dress policies have upon student learning. Opponents insist that there is no credible evidence that school uniforms improve school discipline or promote higher academic achievement. While the debates over whether or not dress codes should be implemented in school continue, it is obvious that both stances contain merit and are not merly invalid, false ideas. Dress codes vary from school to school. One school may require white button-down shirts and ties for boy, pleated skirts for girls and blazers adorned with the school logo for all students, while another school may simply require that all shirts have collars. Most school's dress codes usually prohibits: dying hair unnatural colors, tattoos, large or baggy clothing, holes in clothing, bandanas, hats, sunglasses, visible under garments, pajamas, swim suits, piercings other than earrings, and decorations that are symbols, mottoes, words or acronyms that convey crude, vulgar, profane, violent, gang-related, sexually explicit or suggestive......

Uniforms

...believe school uniforms give students access to learn and focus more on their education. It would eliminate the separation of social classes between the students. Uniforms would prevent kids from making fun of each other and are cost effective. Several students and parents don't agree with school uniforms. They say that uniforms eliminate the right of self-expressing for students. School uniforms does limit on what they wear, but it doesn't limit them from learning which is the reason on going to school. Usually, popular upper kids wear trendy or fashionable clothing. But kids from the lower class families would be wearing non-branded clothes. Students from the lower class would most likely be bullied because of what they're wearing. Therefore, school uniforms would put an end on 'who wears the most expensive clothing'. A survey was done in North Carolina public schools about the effects of school uniforms. The results in this survey were clear. Ninety-eight percent of teachers in North Carolina public schools saw that uniforms obtain positive impact on schools safety. Everyone would wear the same brand of clothing from stores that sells uniforms. Therefore, intruders would easily be spotted in schools. All students would blend together and there would be no upper or lower classes dividing the students. What happens when all students wear are wearing the same thing? There are many answers to that question, but people would most likely say that uniforms......

...Courtney Keys July 2, 2014 Dev Writing Uniforms Having your identity is the one thing that students should be given the opportunity to have. Yet schools are moving more towards uniforms throughout elementary through high schools. The debate over uniforms in public schools encompasses many larger issues than simply what children should wear to school. It touches on issues of school improvement, freedom of expression and gang violence. It's no wonder the debate rages on. Many schools are now requiring students to wear school uniforms. School board officials believe that uniforms are needed in public schools. School uniforms are not a negative thing to have. Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to wear to school every day, but it doesn’t limit them from learning; the only reason they are in school. Student treat school as a fashion show, so eliminating that puts the students’ full focus on schoolwork. Although requiring students to wear school uniforms may violate their self-expression in some ways, a uniform are supposed to be looked upon as a positive thing, because they eliminate bullying, combine social classes and gives the school campus a professional look. First of all, school uniforms limit individuality. We are living in a world where it's important to express one's unique individuality. Clothing is a very effective way to show this. For example, if you like playing the basketball, you can show this by wearing a T-shirt with a picture of......

...GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING PROJECTED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Before entering into the nitty-gritty of the precautions to be taken by the professionals, first of all, I would like to throw some lights on the definitions of the basics of the Projected Financial Statements: WHAT IS FINANCIAL FORECASTS AND PROJECTIONS? Financial forecasts and projections are two types of prospective financial statements that attempt to reflect a company’s expected financial position and expected results of operations. FINANCIAL FORECAST A financial forecast reflects, to the best of the company’s knowledge, the expected financial results of a future period. It is based on expected conditions and expected courses of action. It is to be noted that in almost all situations, the party responsible for the prospective financial statements is the management of the company. FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS A financial projection is different than a forecast in that it is based on hypothetical assumptions. A projection reflects the financial position and results of operations based on a “What if” type of scenario. It is to be noted that only a financial forecast is appropriate for general use. Now, I would like to touch upon those areas, which needs to be taken care of and needs some fine-tuning before accepting any assignment of preparing/compiling of projected financial statements. PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PROFESSIONALS BEFORE COMPILING PROJECTED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS 1. Make sure that...
