Api Computerizes Scheduling and Staffing

...API Computerized Staffing and Scheduling System Sherri Milton Kelly Graduate March 10, 2012 Abstract This paper will discuss why using computerized staffing system could make staffing a hospital more efficient, effective and cost effective. The program will show how and why computerized scheduling and using API program versus Inovar would be more effective, productive while staying cost effective. API Computerized Staffing and Scheduling System The technology that will be discussed would be a web based networking program that would assist with adequate staffing for the hospital and their patients. This program would be implemented to ensure quality patient care and to minimize or eliminate staffing errors. The API program is a program that uses real time versus Inovar that is post time. Inovar is a program that we use to schedule, do time and attendance and payroll. API would be replacing inovar because of its slow turn around. Doing staffing in real time will help decrease delays in nurse assignments and floats which helps to eliminate frequent calls to the staffing office trying to find out who will be working where. The programs that we are currently using are Oracle, Epic and Inovar which will be phased out as soon as an adequate program is in place. The implementation of API would not only benefit the organization, but the staff as well because it helps to speed up the staffing process with knowing who’s where and with patient acuity, it will help in......

Ar-Rahnu

...This study examines the applicability of theory of reasoned action (TRA) in a context of Islamic pawnshop using structural equation modelling (SEM). The present study presents a simplified theory of TRA, hence it is intended to test whether the two constructs in the theory are acceptable or not in a newly context of Islamic pawnshop. The simplified theory is tested using survey data from 250 respondents. Out of these, only 221 questionnaires are found to be usable whilst the rest are omitted owing to the incomplete responses. The results reveal that attitude was significantly related to the intention to use Islamic pawnshop. Subjective norm was also significantly associated with the intention to use Islamic pawnshop. In sum, the present study provides us valuable insights for service providers to future planning of Islamic pawnshop businesses. Key words: Attitude, subjective norm, questionnaire-survey, theory testing, Islamic pawnshop, Malaysia. INTRODUCTION In this study, an Islamic pawn is normally noted as arRahnu. Ar-Rahnu is defined as a method of providing short-term financing to a person by pawning her jewellery to banks or pawnshops as a security. It is one of the micro financing facilities available for low and middle class income earners who are seeking financial assistance to meet two purposes. Firstly, for precautionary purposes, mainly when one encounters unexpected situations such as death and accident which required quick cash, and less cumbersome financial......

Apis to Affordances

...From APIs to Affordances: A New Paradigm for Web Services Mike Amundsen mca@mamund.com amundsen.com, inc. ABSTRACT The ecosystem of services on the Web continues to grow and evolve while, at the same time, the number and diversity of connected devices increases; challenges lie ahead for both providers and consumers of Web services. This paper is presented as a ‘what-if’ proposal; an alternate paradigm for dealing with an increasingly heterogeneous network. Drawing from diverse sources including physical architecture, industrial design, the psychology of perception, and cross-cultural mono-myth, a new implementation paradigm is proposed to help software architects and developers meet these challenges; one that invites participants to shift their mental model from that of programming network devices to programming the network to which those devices are connected. To accomplish this goal an “affordance-rich message” is proposed; one that is based on shared understanding through network-oriented affordances instead of device-oriented APIs. A working model based on this approach is offered, examples given, and areas of related work identified. Ars 101

...Michelle Cabirac ARS 101 1/30/12 Essay #1 The relief sculpture of the pharaoh Akhenaten, Nefertiti and three Daughters, along with the relief sculpture of Mai and Urel emerged from the eighteenth dynasty during the New Kingdom, and commenced a brief artistic revolution in Egyptian art. These two sculptures portrayed a sense of realism that was never seen before in the earlier/ancestral Egyptian artwork. By comparing and contrasting the two relief sculptures one can achieve a better sense of what each piece of art was trying to express. By examining both the relief sculptures of Akhenaten, Nefertiti and three Daughters, and Mai and Urel, several differences can be depicted. Many of these unlike characteristics involve a representation of the human form and appearance. At the top of the sculpture of Akhenaten, Nefertiti and three Daughters, appears a sun disk with rays angling down on all of them to represent the God of Aton. However, no such reference to Aton can be found in the sculpture of Mai and Urel. Next, the figures are seated facing one another in the sculpture of Akhenaten, Nefertiti and three Daughters, while the figures are both facing right in the sculpture of Mai and Urel. In addition, the Akhenaten, Nefertiti and three Daughters sculpture clearly has a reference to offspring. In the sculpture of Mai and Urel no children seem to appear. A few other contrasting characteristics of these two relief sculptures involve specifically the human form.......

...earners seeking financial assistance to meet their fast working capital needs. [2] The inclusion of syariah regulation in the banking system in 1983 has encouraged its implementation in other finance institutions such as insurance, trust unit and Islamic pawn broking (ar-rahnu). The main reason is to eliminate interest which was imposed by pawn brokers as payment from the cash being loaned. The effect can be seen by the emergence of two pawn broking systems in Malaysia, namely the conventional pawn broking system and the Islamic pawn broking system. Rahnu principle is mainly used for Islamic pawn broking services in Malaysia. Under rahnu, valuable item is collateralized to a debt which may be utilized as payment if the debt is not repaid within the agreed period. In the event the debtor is not able to repay the debt, the pawned asset will be sold off to settle the outstanding debt and nay surplus will be given back to the owner of the asset. However, if the owner of the asset could not be traced, it is the responsibility of the Islamic pawn broker to place the fund in the Baitulmal account for future savings should any claims is made for the surplus by the owner of his heir.[3] 2.0 Objectives of Ar-Rahnu Scheme. Rahnu is a quick and easy access to short-term financing for lower income group. The prime objectives of this scheme are as below:[4] 1) To provide a fast, hassle-free and riba-free (interest-free) microcredit financing facilities to the small......

Ar Rahnu

...Then, it continued to expand after the discovery of tin mining in Larut in the 19 century. Pawn broking can be traced back to at least 3,000 years in ancient China. It also has been found in the earliest written histories of Greek and Roman civilizations. According to the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), the Ar- Rahnu scheme can demonstrate its roles as a viable microcredit product of the financial institution in meeting the different customer requirements. Firstly, it represents a credit channel to those who want to use Ar-Rahnu scheme to obtain financial resources to meet their daily financial requirements; and secondly, it can be a credit channel to those who requires temporary working capital, particularly for small business. The objective of Ar-Rahnu is to create an alternative financing channel to the conventional pawn broking, that is not only more transparent but it also more compliant with Shari’ah principles. Ar-Rahnu is a form of microcredit product the borrower places their valuable assets such as gold or jewellery as collateral for the financing. In conventional pawn broking, the interest is charge based on the loan. On the other hand, Ar-Rahnu has no interest but it charges on safekeeping service. 1.2 BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANIZATION 1.3.1 BANK RAKYAT Bank Rakyat was established in September 1954 under the Cooperative Ordinance 1948, following an expansion of the cooperative movement in Peninsular Malaysia. Ars Poetica

...Ars Poetica Formalist Approach The poem is about the art of poetry or what a poem should be. It is interesting to note that as MacLeish states what a poem should be, he illustrates it as well in the poem by successfully using paradoxes/contradictions and images to convey the idea that good poetry uses powerful images. I can’t really say much about the speaker as a person because his voice sounds impersonal. For me the point of view that is used here is third person omniscient. He takes us from series of images that is not usual in our physical world. His voice brings us to those "entangled trees" and gets us closer to that moon climbing in the sky, just like the good poetry he speaks of. So we get why he's not supposed to sound all emotional and human. This poem speaks to the readers and all who loves the art. It tells the readers to appreciate the poem as it is and do not give different meaning to it that will only speak for their own ideas. Poem should be felt. Readers should not look at it in its concrete meaning because poetry is an "art" and according to the dictionary, art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. That is why we should not solved the poems like an equations, instead appreciate it on what it gives to us and let it be free. The situation of this poem can be anywhere since the texts...
